Novel starts out strong but doesn't maintain the quality. The MC is blatantly overpowered and he only becomes more so as the story continues. This isn't relegated to one area, but in everything he does, crafting, fighting etc.\

While I generally think the novel is positive, the issues I had with it built up and almost made me put down the novel at the 300th or so chapter, they were:

Relationships

Spoiler

This was the most frustrating one. This is a "harem" in what I think of as the Japanese sense of the term, basically every woman he comes across wants the MC and is willing to do just about anything to have him, while he is completely oblivious to their advances. One relationship (liera, first/main girl) achieves a pretty high level of intimacy (they cuddle and sleep together) early on however their relationship barely moves from there the entire novel, until she finally makes a move on him in the only saving grace for the relationships section. The other 8 women (of literally millions by the end) who are on the wiki as his spouses and most of whom have been trying to have a relationship with him for 250-300 of the 350 total chapters of the novel, go nowhere. Their relationship is not defined, they don't have romantic moments, basically nothing changes or grows throughout the entire story (there is a side story of 4 chapters which ties up these ends after the novel)

[collapse]

Tacky 4th wall breaking-style behavior

Spoiler

The MC is fully aware of what types of tropes and stereotypes exist in the kind of storytelling / stories that this novel is, and repeatedly 'predicts' future events by understanding the cliche story arcs that are likely involved. When people who should know far more about the subject tell me a certain event will be fine or won't happen he confidently tells them that's a flag or foreshadowing that guarantees it will happen (and it does), when he fights the leader of some dungeon or faction and finds it to be 'too easy' he stops his companions from celebrating and confidently informs them there will be a hidden boss and the event is not over. It would be cute, except it happens hundreds of times in the novel and ultimately only goes to show how stereotypical and cliche the plot actually is: Just because you are self aware or acknowledge how cliche and tired it would be to do something, deosn't mean its fine to repetitively do it.

[collapse]

The novel is breathless and repetitive.

Spoiler

Breathless in the sense that there is never a break, and repetitive in that even though 'different' things are happening in each arc, it's really obvious and quite tiring to repeat the same formula. From basically the moment the story starts to the end the MC will fight some enemy / save some people or whatever it is, some tense situation where lives are at stake, and then immediately afterwards he will return and start preparing for a future fight, often literally the second he returns he will turn around (use an OP time stopping item) and start crafting upgrades for himself or others with his freshly found materials. The second he's done handing them out and maybe training an ability (and when the time stop ends) he runs off to challenge some new crisis. This is partly related to my earlier point about romantic relationships never developing, there's almost no chance for them to regardless of the MC's personality. He's like a video game player who has theorycrafted and min/maxed the most optimal way to get powerful in a game in the shortest time and win. After a point in the novel the pacing is frenetic, he's never just walking around at an auction finding some rare metal or something, he's constantly on the move.

[collapse]

The experience and quests

Spoiler

This is an issue in the early/mid point of the novel moreso, and compounded by the way the story is told. It's explained that the way a person levels up is by killing enemies who award XP (and record), but it quickly stops feeling like a korean novel and starts feeling like a korean MMO, where the MC is grinding 10s, even hundreds of thousands of monsters for a quest or to hit the next tier. At one point the MC enters an 'abandoned world' filled with dragons who are between 100 and 150 levels higher than him, and between the experience he gets and then the quest to actually unlock the next higher tier, he ends up killing almost 50, 000 of these creatures and still, even after all the experience and levelling, is over 100 levels lower than some of the mosters he killed. How anyone could level up in such a world beggers belief, considering you would need millions of similarly leveled enemies to level up (and so would they).

[collapse]

I still think it's a good novel, I'd rate it like 3.5ish (maybe 4.5 at the start), honestly I'd have had a better reading experience ending it at like chapter 295 or so. I kept turning the page hoping for some development between the characters but it never came. Every time an arc would end he would return home, and I'd think "okay NOW he can have a chat with that girl who confessed she loves him and either accept or deny her" and then he'd return and instead yell "ok its time to train and forge new weapons" and the second he finished he'd run off again to the next dungeon. <<less

Although the MC's the same type of insanely OP character with a protagonist halo that's common in most popular novels now, the writing and plot is a pretty fun read if you want something to pass the time. I cant give it a 5 star since it wasn't that unique compared to other novels nor did it have a realistic approach towards the abilities of its MC but it was still something that I enjoyed reading nonetheless so I'd have to give it 4 stars.

You know, I have realized something. This novel is very very dividing, which is strange. Half the reviews give it one star citing it's hot garbage, and the other gove it 5 saying it's hilarious.

I say 4, I dont laugh at any of the jokes, but when me and my friend discuss the memeier parts of it we chuckle

If you are trying to find a novel and are reading this, know that you can probably find a better written and fleshed out story somewhere, but for me, someone who likes... more>> comedy and was tired of looking, ITSA PRETTY GOOOD <<less

Would have given 5 stars but the world building was a little confusing for me. Maybe its just me but the different worlds idea in the multiverse could have been properly given better ending.

Spoiler

If instead of merging and compressing worlds into one planet, he made multiple planets in a singe or more solar systems (since there arent any aliens in that universe) it could have been more logical.

Its hard to imagine thousands upon thousands of planets merging into one. I mean where do you put all that land and sea, not to mention population. If one fused that many worlds, its impossible to compress and will result in a planet billions of times larger than a super nova. Its more logical to just destroy the dimensional barriers separating them and join in one universe butdifferent planets instead.

[collapse]

That being said, I like op MC stories or weak to strong character developments. Though I would have prefered more reaction to mc's OPness pov chapters, it was enjoyable for me. I also would have loved if it included dimensional slow adventures though. Or chapters where MC travels to diff worlds to explore and not be in some serious sh*t all the time <<less

Out of all the novels I've read (Although I've read a lot halfway) this one is the one out of all the "Complete" novels that is so very complete it is pretty much impossible to ask for a more "complete" or more "satisfying" end.

(story 5/5) Story is very original since there aren't really other story's about being left behind on earth while everyone else is sent to other worlds. Main character's crafting is good and item's are original.
Spoiler

(flying fortress from blacksmithing?? AWESOME!!!!)

[collapse]
Crafting doesn't take up a lot of chapters. Furthermore the ending is perfectly complete, you can't ask for a better one.

(Translation "idk how accurate but I don't see any problems" 5/5)

(characters 5/5) I like how Lita's trying to hold back her love so hard. The harem is also nice. Quite a few characters to remember but not too many.

review as of ch 185 -Pretty much a wish fulfilling story that is decent to read if you turn your brain off for the enjoyment. Literally flawed logic everywhere, the author attempted to mix too many genres together and ultimately fails at all of them except for using hypocrisy of human nature to explain the protagonist's decisionmaking. The humor is dry (largely influenced by Jap anime culture, MC is korean but kudos in the footnote explainations), the interactions are 2D, no emotional moments (at least I did not laugh, smile,... more>> or cry while reading), the lazy use of game/leveling system fails harder - even the protagonist points out how absurd it is (need to kill THOUSANDS of things 100+ levels higher than MC to gain 1 lvl, no exp from lower mobs.... based on that logic all the 4 class mob needs to wipe out several dimensions worth of population to get where they are just to be killed by the MC which is still at 2-3 class), basically ignore numbers/mob identity/technology/EQ/IQ/and ranking before the novel is enjoyable.

Completed novel review - quiet interesting development towards the end, original statement stands with turning your brain off. Predictable development, but improvements are seen in comparison to earlier chapters and grew more enjoyable, not that rushed of an ending either tho not that dramatic cause MC became too OP + luck factor. I'm honestly impressed with the author's progress in writing, best character interactions are with Lucifer in afterwards. <<less

This started off as an interesting premise for a story, but eventually turned into a typical harem tr*shcan. I did like the fact that the story was pretty coherent and seemed to be planned out before he started. I liked the comedy and banter between MC and other characters, but the clueless guy trope is really played out and kind of boring to read. It has game like features but I found it a little lazy. The crafting was cool but I had to Google the weird weapons he would... more>> make.
Spoiler

what was up with the obsession with pile bunkers?

[collapse]
Eventually the fights became kind of lame after the MC gets OP.

I read the authors comments along the way of reading the book and kind of laughed when the author said it wasn't going to be a harem story. I would say that if you like harem isekai novels, then this is worth reading. The harem stays useful for pretty much the whole story. If you dislike harems stay far away. <<less

I can only say that this Novel is worth every second you spend on reading it.

The end is very satisfying and the whole story is just 'sick'.

Damn I'm bad at writing reviews, *sigh*, ignore me and just read the novel.

8/10 Short version: Read the novel if you wanna read about a loner who interacts with gods, falls in love with an angel, levels up, and eventually kills gods.

The Good:

I really liked this novel. It's not often you get to read about a character fighting gods and the like. There is a lot of stuff that happens to the MC and I love the humor. The MC is not a cold blooded killer nor does he like to always be alone, but he knows that things won't be done right... more>> unless he does it himself and doesn't want to endanger the people around him. There are some times when the fourth wall is broken, but it's in a very entertaining way. The overall conclusion wraps up really nicely and explains why a lot of the things happened as they did.

The Bad:

There were way too many scenes of blacksmithing and endless collecting. Also the MC makes a company to help the world but it gets thrown away after the first half like the author didn't want it anymore. The ending was really anticlimactic and way too much harem
Spoiler

(5+ wives)

. Also although the ending explained a lot of the mysteries in the story, there were still plenty of plot holes revolving in the people around the MC. <<less

This novel has good translation. The writing flows and wouldn't lead your head scratching. You could easily get into the story. I must say, the translator team is excellent.

I don't rate based on story. If you want faceslapping, go with Chinese novel. If you want a pacifist, go with Japanese novel. If you want an OP, go with Korean novel.

And, this is a Korean novel, you know what you'd expect.

This novel starts off strong, but it became harder to read the longer it went on.

The core issue is that the author has a bad habit of dropping a nuke on the story and then basically restarting the whole thing from scratch. As such, a lot of side-characters and plot-threads end up going nowhere, and when the story makes throw-away references to them 50, 100, or 200 chapters later, you're asking "who?" Other times, these characters will stick around, but never actually say or do anything.

It's also a bit too... more>> satirical at times. Often the MC will come out and say, in-character, "oh, this seemingly innocuous piece of information will obviously be really important later on, " or "the reason why I didn't use my trump-card in this life-or-death battle is because this guy was obviously just a sub-boss of this fight." It starts off funny, but it becomes more and more common as the story goes on, to the point that the last arc is basically an extended joke.

I liked the premise enough to stick through it to the end, but I wouldn't blame anyone for dropping this halfway through. <<less

***** Minor Rant/spoiler ahead, skip to next paragraph for review***** I wanted to not just like this novel, I wanted to love it. I love the idea behind it, the game elements, and the idea of an MC left behind while everyone on earth goes off to learn magic. I was however disappointed. This story would have been a master piece, in my humble opinion, if after ... more>>
Spoiler

10 years or 1, 000 for the MC; everyone on earth came back with degrees of OP'ness and Magic. And instead of our MC killing everyone in one hit, he would have to be clever and have to overcome his lack of mana with his 1000 years of knowledge. I would have loved an MC that trained and acquired all the fighting skills, tempered his body and acquired knowledge for 1, 000 years then when everyone came back from what was to them only 10 years, our poor MC loses his body tempering and goes back to being a normal human being with no mana but 1, 000 years of experience. Then this story would been about the MC catching up and eventually surpassing everyone using his experience and knowledge.

[collapse]
*****

In a genre known for the OP'ness of MC's this one takes it to a whole new level. I don't mean OP as in he can destroy whole worlds with one punch (pun intended) but how ridiculously OP he is as compared to other people in the world. This basically means that this novel suffers from the lack of tension and flat road that most novels in this genre suffer from except that instead of being halfway or hundreds of chapters invest this happens from the get go. As much as I wanted to love this and was ready to forgive the occasional harem or 2D female "lead/s"... the sad truth is I'm just not enjoying this novel, I don't particular hate it but its starting to feel like excitement of reading a grocery shopping list. There is absolutely no tension or excitement in this novel; for one, the intended calamity comes and goes off with the same level of impact as tax appointment... it happened and now you have to fight monsters. The deaths that happen or world upheaval fall flat, the author spends zero time expanding on how the world reacts to the first monster appearance except to show us how strong the MC is. The prefect example is a scene where one of the characters says skills are really hard to get, they are not that simple and take a long time.... next sentence MC learned cooking skill in two days despite mentioning not having any interest in cooking before since all his meals were cooked for him. In conclusion a story that should kept me wanting more and eagerly reading the next chapter its already becoming boring and tedious at chapter 50. I would have understood if this was a parody or comedy like The Strongest System, but its isn't the humor is at best tolerable in this novel.

In conclusion if you like One Punch Man without comedy, and don't like edge of your seat excitement then read this. <<less

Well, I give it a 4.

Reason:

Plot:

The authors are actually very consistent in this novel. You can actually see they studied story and world building.
Character powers and the magic system were explained enough to get a midterm between soft and hard systems (at least in the start it sounded harder, but it does get softer within the last chapters) and we usually could understand why the character did this and that just by knowing his skills and stuff.
Most of the plot was actually foreshadowed is this story, which, in... more>> my opinion, is very satisfying, since you can predict what will happen next and also helps you to accept it since it would sound unplausible later.

The addition of side-powers to the main character and making them actually the base of the character's strength was a good move. In this novel, the MC gets actually VERY strong only because he is good at many things, like crafting and cooking (and resting, lol). There are many characters who are strong physically in this novel, but MC usually wins in intellect and preparation.

Of course, to like this novel you need to understand this is a comedy novel and that this is not reality, but an expanded reality which uses a half soft system to describe the world. It means it will have inconsistency with reality sometimes, but you need to accept as if this is caused by the system the world is in.

Last book spoilers ahead:
Spoiler

The conclusion, though, I felt somewhat disappointing. It does feel like it was consistent and that it would end as it did, but I did want a good explanation of the magic system the book uses. I wanted to know what was there after the Akashic Record and unrecorded beings, but that's only my preference.

[collapse]

Tl;dr and conclusion: The plot is not perfect, but this novel is mostly consistent in it, also because it's not so long. This is one of the reasons I recommend this story (even more if you are interested in studying what make stories good).

As a side note, I could predict something that happened in the last book in the third one because of the good foreshadows this novel has.

Characters:

First, our MC, Yu llHan, is the guy who got dropped out and the consequence of it is he is a loner in his mind. He is actually very rational/meticulous and tries to analyze and prepare everything in order to survive and never lose anything. His actions are all based on these characteristics.
Spoiler

He actually changes his "loner mind" later, but the rational part will never change.

[collapse]
I do feel he is way too much dense sometimes, something I do not agree with his character building, but it does get somewhat fixed later.

As for side characters, I do think that this is the worst point about this novel. The side characters changed way too much as the story flows (though it is explained the reason) and it kind of hurt to see amazing side characters becoming just side characters with no self-personality. I'll explain it with Kang MiRae, who had much personality in the start but just lose it in the story (Erta is another example). This novel lost 1 star because of that.

Spoiler ahead, beware:

Spoiler

Author didn't end it in a harem, and I'm glad it didn't! But Liera actually was just tossed aside since many of the other side characters were just more helpful than her. But what I don't actually like is that she never had any special traits that made her likable since the start. It could get resolved easily by showing us her hardship to become a higher existence or something, but since nothing was made, oh well, I can just complain.

[collapse]

Enjoyment and conclusion:

I did enjoy this. The most satisfying part is the system explanation and the foreshadows in the story. That aside we have also a good amount of fun moments and reflective moments. Overall I recommend this, even with the side-character problems, this is a (somewhat) short novel that is consistent with its story and direction, and its something that stories lack nowadays.

Recommendation:
- If you like midterm soft-hard magic systems.
- If you want to read a good and consistent story (yes I did repeat it a lot because its the main good point of this novel)
- If you like to study novel creation, this novel makes a good study.
- If you can ignore the side-characters changing the personalities AND dense MC
- If you can pass a "generic" start and get into the real story (~100 chapters). <<less

It's good.

Nice premise, lots of twisted plot, although little bit predictable.

The fact that the MC foreshadow most even himself is bit funny and fresh. What makes it slightly bad is the ending, it's just too smooth, it's like you were expecting something you knew but still hoping for something other than that to shows up, yet what you're expecting is happening, not bad, just slightly weird feeling.

this is with some bias but if you’ve got time to kill then your going to enjoy this. I read, then I read, and by the time I finished I thought it was too short. It might not cater to a lot of people’s desires but I am an absolute sucker for crafting and while they’re short enough to not be boring, they’re frequent enough to stay very relevant. Good if your the type of guy or girl who gets super hyped every time you get an item in a... more>> game. The audience that will enjoy this is probably a lot smaller than something like LMS where you get to feel sophisticated but I personally loved it enough to finish in like 2 weeks. School weeks.
