Not worth a one would rate 2 -3 but its value is entirely to high. This does not deserve to be first. This doesn't even deserve to be top 10. Characters are shallow, plot armor is so abundant it could supply half the novels on NU, harem poorly written and just sub par story all around.

I'm sorry to those who loved this novel but this is my opinion so if you don't agree with it you can ignore it. After all, everybody has their ow opinion, I have my beliefs, you have yours.

So first of all, the reason it is not one star is because the beginning held lots of potential and was actually interesting. Cliche maybe, but it held good writing and the heroines were not as 2D. Not to say the weren't, but they weren't completely fake. But the problems starts when...
Spoiler

it reaches the part when he is with that fairy elder lady (Chu YueChan) and he just r*pes her in order to save her. I mean, like he did save her, but for something as ridiculous as the only way to save her is to inject his s**en into her? Jeez author, if you were going to make it a p*rn, just make the whole thing a p*rn. Don't be half-assed and do these random ridiculous conditions. To make things worse though, is the fact that she ends up in love with him. Even though, all he has done is show off his genius doctor skills and heal her from poison. Sure, you can be in love with your savior, but in love to the point where you would give up your life for him (the flood dragons), stay in love with him when he r*pes you (non-consensual sex) and even give up your sect to raise his baby that was the result of the r*pe!!!!??? To make it even more extreme, you would even cripple yourself too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Does that man even f***cking love you??? "wow, he gave up his v**ginity to save my life! His first seed!!" Well, you also gave your v**ginity to him, no wait, he f***cking stole it!!! Author Gravity, wasn't that a little bit too forced? As I said before, just make a p*rn if you want to! if you didn't want one, than don't make one. Please don't half ass both, there was so much potential in the beginning man! If you kept writing stuff like that, I would've even read through the raws!!!!!!

[collapse]
okay, now that I'm done ranting about that part, time to rant about another part
Spoiler

okay, yes your aunt is kidnapped by this sect, yes she is frightened and scared, yes she was innocent and didn't deserve it. But in the end, did anything really end up happening to her that would last forever? She wasn't dead, she wasn't r*ped, she was just scared and slightly injured. Not even really injured! Yes your grandfather was pretty injured but did he die? No! So why did you have to kill all those innocent people in the burning sect? Sure kill the culprits, I don't mind cause I don't mind ruthless MC, but since the author always loves emphasizing how smart he is, but if he's not f-ing insane, than why did he kill the innocent. I can say, I've even read the tower of karma, so yes I can handle ruthless MCs as long as it makes sense why they did it. The tower of karma has a bunch of twisted logic and stuff, but I don't mind. Do you know why? It's because the main character really is insane. Okay author? OKAY?
Back to the topic of ATG, so overall, this portion was to talk about how the author is always talking about how smart the MC is but he obviously has some serious anger management issues.

[collapse]
Next, let's talk about all his wives shall we?
Spoiler

So first he loves his aunt a lot, but he gets caught by his fiancee for spending a night with her. They don't have s*x, but if you love your aunt, why have you not broken you marriage agreement with your fiancee? This I could still handle because maybe there were some secrets going on with the agreement, so I was just like okay.... But then, he falls in love with the princess too! Yet he still loves his aunt. Okay, so maybe he just loves both. But then, his fiancee's elder shows up (Chu yuechan from before) and they begin their journey of love. Okay then..... But then his real fiancee falls in love with him, and their love starts too! Okay, so stuff happens and he r*pes the fiancee;s elder which I've talked about in the first spoiler. But soon after, he gets sealed, and when he comes out a few years later, he marries the princess, finds out his aunt is kidnapped, saves her too, reunites with the fiancee then even MORE girls just begin showing up. What the hell man, the girls are almost as bad as those 2D antagonists that last for no more than a few chapters! This is also where I couldn't stand it anymore and just dropped the series.

[collapse]
And Lastly those 2D villians......
Spoiler

Need I say more? Just those typical "you ant!" and "you lowly piece of tr*sh!" remarks that happen over and over again. The only purpose they serve is to make the op MC grow even more op.

[collapse]
So the last spoiler wasn't really a spoiler but I just put it there anyway.

Of course, I'm not going to go into this, don't forget about the huge amounts of plot armor, luck and hypocritical actions!

So yeah, the beginning held lots of potential, then it slowly turned into typical xianxia/xuanhuan that you see everywhere nowadays. I can tell the the author could've done so much more for the story from what I saw in the beginning....
.
.
.
.
.
Except for those 2D villians. That can't be changed, but I don't even care anymore. Overall, if you don't mind those points that I hated, go ahead! it's not like I can do anything about it.

P.S, the writing also gets worse and worse. Soon (at least to me) it starts to feel like the author can't get a hold of how op the MC is and has to downplay it. Also, you'll see more and more of those filler chapters where it is just description and no plot

The Good
- There are certain diversities in the characters.
- Character development can be said to be okay.
- If you like harems, then you'll love it.
Spoiler

The Bad
- The story is very repetitive. In fact the exact same arc repeats itself where Yun Che goes to a tournament, gets ridiculed before it, then takes first place and then gets sealed up with everybody thinking he is dead and he comes back with super power ups.
- MC is too ruthless and mu*derous. He is actually supposed to be a heavenly doctor at first but rather is a heinous mu*derer. He decimates and kills 70, 000 people from a sect, a majority who was innocent (like 98%) just for kidnapping his family.
- He has too major power ups. The worst thing is that he can fight and easily kill people who are 2 realms (like 20 levels) above him when the author had repeatedly stressed how the difference is between realms often citing it as a heaven and earth difference. However every time Yun Che levels up, this gap of fighting strength that theoretically is supposed to decrease keeps on increasing.
- He is an as*hole of a playboy. I'm okay with harems but Yun Che's harem is just ridiculous. He goes after everyone who is very pretty and manages to make them fall in love for him despite having several wives and sidepieces. Every time he meets a new girl, he completely tends to conveniently forget or disregard them and play with the new girls which is to a point is disgusting.

[collapse]

I know that there are more bad than good. However I would still begrudgingly recommend this to another person, despite its many failings. After all the story itself starts on a good note and has a promising and exciting future.

This novel has been going down hill since the Burning Heaven Clan arc. I give this novel 3/5 cause the start is good but then our MC decided to throw his brain through the window because who need brain when you have those ‘magic tricks’ aka plot armors ?

Btw the MC is very h**ny and a hypocrite.

READ IT! READ IT! READ IT!

I'm not kidding, this novel is by far one of the best xanxias out there, there is a reason why it's the most famous one.

The Story is mind-blowing, the author does a great job with the world building and the flow of the story. Characters are well developed, just give it a try, read 5 chapters and then decide if you continue or not. If you enjoyed Xanxias like Coiling Dragon, TDG, BTTH etc. You will defenitly like this one!

Not saying this isn’t a good novel to pass the time with, but there are issues with it.

1. The romance, the harem or the female characters are 100% tossed in because it needed female characters in it or else the readers won’t like it. I’ve read other Chinese novels that are pretty good but decided to just push off the romance aspect with lame excuses, like “Need to focus on gaining power and surviving first”, and went from good to pretty good or worse. Thing is, there isn’t a real... more>> harem. A bunch of potential harem candidates? Yes. Officially married wives? Yes, there are two but one doesn’t want to be associated with him out in the open. Number of gals that surround him at any given time? More than one, less than three, usually two with one virtually always hidden inside. It’s better than nothing but it’s not great either. Not saying there must be a harem, but at least some centralized female protagonist or character would be nice.

2. Things get dragged out. This isn’t that bad. The first and third point is worse. This is just a slight annoyance. Anyone remember the manga Gantz? Anyone remember how one chapter can simply comprise of "omg" type of reaction? Be warned that similar chapters are everywhere.

3. Good things are overly used. Remember Yuu Yuu Hakusho? It was basically tournaments after tournaments after tournaments, if I remember correctly. Or maybe Dragon Ball, which is “I’m gonna take/destroy the world” after “I’m gonna take/destroy the universe” after repeat either one of the previous ones. For this, I don’t remember. But I do remember the protagonist entering one tournament for his wife to help the royal family hold the highest position in the country (wife = princess).
Spoiler

Another tournament between the six countries (I think it’s six, it could be seven, I forgot.), to determine the ranking of the countries. And now, it’s another tournament (untranslated) between the loyalist and the revolutionist of a certain kingdom. Both sides comprise of the guardian families and the houses of lords (or nobles or aristocrats or something like that), with the protagonist’s side on the weaker side.

That aside, each tournament followed similar format. The first one, it was protagonist vs the country. The second one, it was protagonist vs the other countries. And on the current one, there’s an improvement. He’s only going against like 6 or 8 out of the 12 instead of all 12 of the opponent. It’s a 12 on 12 team where he’ll be facing against most of them, again.

[collapse]

It also follows the format of, “I’m level 1 but I am as strong as a level 69.” (Exaggeration intended.) And the reaction from the other people are all the same, “omfg, how is that f***ing possible?” Stuff like that.

4. There are some s*upidness induced plot. And then there are some lack of thought process to help the plot proceed too. Things like that are present in this novel.
Spoiler

Example is that the protagonist went missing for 18 months but he feels no rush to get home. He demonstrates no rush. And soon, the whole idea of going back home disappears as there’s a new plot in front of him. I really don’t think I’m asking that much, right? A bit of thought process? Personal feelings? I mean, he made a total mess and enemies of the world back home, yet he isn’t in any kind of rush to go home to see what kind of mess he made. This isn’t even just a “calm” or “smart” or “confident” protagonist anymore.

[collapse]

5. Why the heck are there so many tags? You people are just tagging every single thing possible aren’t you? Why don’t you people add “Aunt-Nephew Relationship”? And yes, it’s in the Harem genre but we also need to specifically state with the polygamy tag and then a more specific one, polygyny. Poisons... really? You people are way too hyped up on this. Why don’t you add “Arrogant Male Lead”, “Badass Male Lead”, “Clever Protagonist”, “Conceited Protagonist”, “Different Social Status”, “Discrimination”, “Doctors”, “Evil God”, “Fantasy Creatures”, “Fearless”, “Hell Training”, “Hiding True Self”, “Kingdoms”, “Legendary Sword”, “Levelling Up”, “Long Distance Relationships”, “Male Lead with Tragic Past”, “Masochistic Training”, “Master-Disciple Relationship”, “Massacre”, “Multiple Worlds”, “OP Male Protagonist”, “Second Chance”, “Secretive Male Lead”, “Special Blood”, “Strong Male Lead”, “Strong Protagonist”, “Strong-Willed Male Lead”, “Swordplay”, “Swords”, “Tournaments”, “Tragic Protagonist”, “Transported to Another World”, “Troubled Past”, “Violent Male Lead”, and whatever I missed.

Since it’s already long as hell, mind as well tag more, right? Orz. <<less

Truly a good Xianxia with proper plotting, not only the usual xianxia template like [getting insulted by as*hole -> power up -> beat those as*hole with] then rinse and repeat, but with a cunning and some mindblowing way of dealing with problems.

Also, instead of women easily falling for MC becoz MC is stronk, our MC went through proper courtship to woo the ladies. He's also not the kind of beast like Chu Feng from MGA who would r*pe good looking girls becoz of some problems as his reason, our... more>> MC here is a man with more dignity and respect.

He's the type of a very very OP MC in term of talent and possibilities instead of OP in raw power, therefore you get both the OP feeling and improvement feeling too.

Read a dozen or so chapter to see what kind of story is this. <<less

One of my favorite xianxia so far; not in comparison with other series of similar genre, because it stands out by itself. The story was built around an interesting premise: someone who was born again as a weakling although he was previously OP. The protagonist and people around him are fleshed out consistently. Perfect balance between jokes and serious matters, physical and psychological perspectives. Better yet, it has a very good pace; up to 200 chapters, there are no drawn-out arcs.

Reasonable MC who can be somewhat extreme but doesnt kill needlessly unlike some other story.

It is also funny in a lot of place in a somewhat flirty manner.

Pretty strong MC and even if weak in the beginning, you can't tell given the way he control the situation.

Recommend highly.

What surprised me the most about this novel would probably be how although the first 30-40 chapters lacked in action and the MC lacked strength it was still interesting enough to keep me captivated. I particularly like this kind of smart and ruthless MC that is decisive and doesn’t bow to others and his mindset of taking care of problems from their root.

Also, unlike many other reincarnated MC’s he at least makes use of his vast experience from his past life.

...
Or something like that was my review when I'd barely read about 100-200 chapters or less.

(I've actually skimmed through it till almost chapter 700, but that doesn't count as reading to me)

I can't say I feel the same about this novel right now. I actually still read it and hope things will get better, but as it is now I'm greatly disappointed by it.

These are the main things that really bother me:
- MC's women are separated on all continents and they're always away from him and in constant danger of being r*ped/killed for one reason or another and some of them just go missing without a word about them in years
- while the MC is ruthless and all that, he leaves behind an enemy whose whole clan he annihilated, the worst kind of enemy, which, it was quite obvious at the time, will come back to haunt him
- I really dislike how said enemy becomes so much stronger in such a short while and the entire thing (the revelation about his real identity) was actually quite hard to believe
- a similar occurrence to the above one occurs later where MC destroys the plan of a certain schemer, but a very strong one at that and wipes out his clan, but the enemy while possibly gravely injured still manages to run and the MC seems a bit too unconcerned about it

On another note, I still follow the novel. I still have the slightest hope that it will improve and I still have things I like about it, like the MC's OPness, how he can beat people so much stronger than him, all those legacies of his and skills and techniques; but also things I'm curious about, like about Jasmine and her family, about the sword the Dragon mentioned, about MC's current sword, about the evil god's gates and the profound handle...

one of the best novels I read by far.

the story is just too immersing that you can't pull yourself from it.. There were a ton of disappointments and annoying moments for me going through ATG but at the same time they were bittersweet for some reason and I didn't dislike them or anything.

world building is absolutely stellar, no novel can even come close to this in this aspect.

character development is top-notch, the side chars were all well defined and had much more to them and deeper motives. They weren't linear... more>> by any chance. And you could see the MC growing up through the novel by dealing with those kind of people even though he was naive at the start

I never liked harem in any novel, in fact I despise it.. It just makes me feel sick for all kind of reasons. But surprisingly not on this one, the author pulled it off flawlessly. It added A LOT to ATG and it was pretty fun and heartwarming overall. Each of his wives had a clearly distinct personality and a role to play, and they weren't ignored at all through the story unlike most of the novels I came by.

even though I lost interest in the latter chapters, I would still give it a solid 5 outta 5 and a must read for avid cn readers <<less

This is well written, I just hate the characters.

MC is a childish idiot, and also a MAJOR horndog, like seriously he can compete with Chu Feng from MGA

The main FL is incredibly unlikeable and the source of numerous problems for Yun Che, her even states that he doesn't really like her and is just chasing him due to pride at one point (wish he abandoned her)

The mysterious overpowered mentor (Jasmine) is the only likeable character in the entire story. I wish she was the main FL (yeah I know... more>> she's 12 when the story starts but the MC is only 17, and whats a 5 year age gap when life expectancy is 50, 000 years)

none of the other FLs are very interesting characters besides being powerful at that point in the story and somehow liking the incredibly dislikeable MC

MC gets lost and presumed dead like once a year, then shows up at the exact perfect moment to save the next harem candidate from getting married/raped/killed/etc.

MC is also supposedly a genius spirit doctor despite having the mentality of a five year old and the sense of direction of a deaf bat (seriously this guy could get lost in a hallway) <<less

Okay, this is a weird one. I remember really liking this on my first reading, and it became one of my go-to novels that I always kept track of. Mid story, I still kind of liked it, even as it slid back to being pretty average. End story, I honestly think it's pretty crap, and can't even work up the energy to finish it.

So where did it go wrong? Firstly there was a general decline in quality the longer it got, and the world seemed to narrow and get less interesting as the MC ascended in power.

Until the story just stops dead for many hundreds of chapters in the higher realm.

The MC Stalls on level 1 of the Divine realm in power, and then stays there for a VERY long time. It wouldn't be so bad if he was progressing, but he doesn't and for this entire time he has to interact with a huge cast that are unimaginably stronger than him. As in, he can't even sneeze in these peoples direction.

Also it becomes painfully obvious that he's about to get betrayed. The author really hammers this home, and then stretches it out so much than when it finally happened I didn't really care.

Not my favorite.

This novel is absolutely amazing.

MANY BAD REVIEWS ARE FROM THE MIDDLE, but the LATEST CHAPTERS (in the 1700+ right now) are just absolutely spicy and amazing. This is definitely not a novel that tapers off in the end, but instead gets more powerful.

I have read a lot of Chinese light novels, including all of the staples in our top 20, as well as some past giants that have been completed. But, this novel just gets everything right:

  1. Great writing that slides off the page (unlike other novels I read translated)
  2. Gripping storyline that ties together, amazing characters (though some fade out a bit too much, but thats OK you meet even better ones)
  3. Amazing fights
You need to like these 3 basic things:

  1. Beautiful girls
  2. Satisfying revenge
  3. Some hankypanky under the blanky
It WILL make you want to shout at the MC at times FOR BEING AN IDIOT.

IT WILL make you want to shout at the author even FOR TORTURING US.

But, it hurts so good. It hurts so good. <<less

I really tried to keep going but it was am insult to myself to keep reading this nonsense. Everytime I thought he would make a turn around it would be the same old story. Rinse and repeat. He is a basic F boy/ baby daddy (cause he never married yuechen) with too many skills that he doesn't use properly unless one of his women/inheritances think for him. At 30 still can't control his libido... I skimmed a lot from ch 700 upwards till I finally gave up.

MC is a very flawed guy. Arrogant, reckless, lustful, emotional and kinda dumb. But hes also very OP so it all works out usually. Most of the time his women do the thinking for him or deal with some other sh*t for him so he doesnt get killed by his decisions.

Still the MC is kinda likeable and the story is enjoyable most of the time.

Mars Gravity knows his audience very well and the only real problem I have with this book is that there aren't enough chapters.

The only novel I've never dropped EVER. I started reading this novel when it just hit 300 chapters and I've checked it daily for 4 years. I thoroughly enjoy this story.

Perfect... No. But few stories have kept me entertained throughout the entire duration of the story without break. Most have a slow point or a plateau that last long enough for me to get bored and stop for a time to let chapters pile up, but this one hasn't.

A slow period just means its preparing to hit you with something... more>> new... something awesome.

This novel might be actual gold in book form. <<less
