Well, how could I say that this was one of the best readings of my life? I have become so identified with the character that it becomes pathetic, for there is nothing more explicit than the obvious difference between us. In my opinion, it is much better than I would ever have been. Even so, I persist in the idea that this is, yes, my future. I will not sell my time, nor will the opportunity arise, I will not have the love of Miyagi, but he is no use... more>> to me: she does not love me. Here I have the consolation that I can lean on death, that it is worth showing others that they are important to you, and that I really will not get anything waiting. Mr. Author, I love your characters, and in a way, I love a part of you.

For those who will still read, know that there are few things in life that are worth more than this story. <<less

What a novel...

All I have to say about this novel is:

A BEAUTIFUL tragedy and awsome story that made me -a 23 YO man- cry like a little girl...

... more>> Hope you'll give it a try and enjoy it like I did (you can even learn from the story)

edit: I forgot to say but you can either read the "2ch" version or the novel version, personally I've read both, in this order : the novel first then "I say little prayer" then the 2ch version, which is the opposite... but having done so I highly recommend to either do it in my order or just read the novel version (same for the author's 1st novel "Starting over) <<less

This book made me think about my own life and if I’ve made enough of an impact on others to be considered valuable. It was definitely a thought provoking book that will make you consider what exactly life is worth and worth living if you don’t make something good out of it. I would definitely recommend this relatively short read that will hopefully inspire you to ask yourself the following questions: What would you do with your life if you knew it was going to end relatively soon? Would you... more>> try to make the world better? Would you try to make up for past mistakes? Or would you just accept your fate? <<less

It was an interesting work that portrayed the duality of love and loneliness, and how those emotions can either kill or save a person, especially in the modern busy and materialistic world where it is easy to feel left behind or be categorized as unsuccessful. It shows the sadness, hopelessness, and despair of someone who gets lost in the assembly line called society and has nothing to look forward to besides living like a s*ave, doing things you don't want to do just to survive. And perhaps in the midst... more>> of it all, loneliness takes shape as if to tell you your life isn't worth living. On the flip side, the author also tells you through his sadly unrealistic yet wonderfully hopeful fairy tale that loneliness isn't suffered in vain, for it can also give birth to unrivalled love and happiness, and that however despairing your life might be, there may always be hope. <<less

I bought the book to read and I essentially completed it in one day. This story is great.

Depth is something that seperates a good book from a bad one. Although two books may....

You know I can't write well so I'm gonna stop there, it would be a shame to delete however so I'm gonna leave this here. Just so you know the story is great.

Just chapter two yet I'm already falling like muddled rain from depression. The writing style invokes nostalgia and longing then falling unto loneliness. Dang it! I'm gonna finish this up and go for some comedy afterwards!

Edit: It was tearful, hurtful and the ending beatiful. I can not feel but cry in the middle of the night.

I'm not into this types of novels but I got fed up from those arrogant, vile and overpowered main characters. Haaa.... I really need comedy after this one, I hate depressing novels but I wanna... more>> try to open up these tear ducts.

The nostalgia of childhood memories which can never be returned. The pain of losing and drifting away from love ones. The pressure that life provides and the unthinkable future. Those hopes and wishes we could only dream and imagine. Lastly, failing and failing and failing....... <<less

It hurts. First of all, growing up and being painfully aware that your life isn't going the way you thought it would be when you were a child--- that freaking hurts, I know all too well the disappointment in oneself and being crushed with the realization that "Ah, I overestimated myself when I was a kid, my life isn't worth that much after all." IT. HURTS. So honestly, I can relate with the protagonist on the beginning. But see, he moved on past that, and he even found joy, some... more>> sort of meaning and love in the remaining time he has and well, I seriously don't know if he was influenced by his limited time buuut I really don't think so anyway, it just proves that when a man moves and do something he really wants and spend time with someone you love then, yes, life becomes meaningful after all. <<less

I don't write reviews at all, but after reading I just had to contribute with one of my own.

This story is legitimately a life-changing story, and will change the way that you view life; it was that was for me. It tackles the question of "how much is a human life?", giving an answer that to me was incredibly down to Earth and very fitting to the story, something that is uncommonly seen nowadays.

Through incredibly realistic characters and a masterpiece of a plot packed into 16 chapters that kept my... more>> attention the whole way through, I felt immersed the entire read through and would be confident to say this is my favorite read of all time. <<less

The first time reading this I cry so much and instantly give it a 5 star. Upon re-reading I no longer feel like this is that much of a masterpiece.

But, this beautiful novel still make me feel so many emotion. The lowest this can go is 4 star, a especially strict critic may give this a 3 star but anyone who give this a 2 or 1 star is an unfeeling psychopath.

Sure their are some bad part here and there, but you can only nitpicking for so much at this... more>> incredible story. <<less

I can’t feel anything. Like the author said, I am one of those creating their own hell. Although I feel like I ought to have felt something by reading everything, just like the rest of the people here... I feel like I want to cry. Yet, I’m numb. I ought to feel a deep, throbbing pain because everything in this story lowkey makes me question everything in life, in my life, but because I know that my life is sort of of more value than Kusunoki... maybe that’s why I... more>> cannot relate? Or maybe I really am completely numb, trying to numb myself even further by losing myself in books, impersonating the characters. Ahhhhh what the feck

this story has made me realise a lot of things about myself. Really, very deep. If you are depressed or numb, take a read, and maybe you’ll find a bit of your self worth, a few answers to your questions. Perhaps one of those answers may find you the will to drag you out of your hell *hugs* <<less

I once took a philosophy class in college where we tried to answer the following question - "What makes a life meaningful?". I find that this novel, Three Days of Happiness, tackles this question in the most poignant, enjoyable, and approachable manner. I have never once written a review, but I am prompted to do so just to convince others that this novel is worth your precious time. It has given a new perspective on life. I must say, more so than the actual novel itself, the author's note... more>> at the end is especially enlightening and precious. However it won't be as valuable without reading the whole novel first. I urge you to give this novel a chance. It's an interesting concept, selling your lifespan, but it's definitely not the idea that makes this novel special. It is the dialogue and character development that really makes this story different from other angsty novels. The characters are flawed and relatable because it emulates the many shameful actions individuals do daily but never speak of. This novel makes me think that it was worthwhile to spend my time in quarantine reading light novels on the internet rather than finishing Anna Karenina. That's how good this novel is. I end this with my favorite passage, which I see a lot of my fellow reviewers on this page doing as well.

Spoiler

“... People who’ve had lots of failures talk about those failures as if
to imply that if they have another life, they’ll be a big success. After
facing all that hardship, they think they won’t mess up again. But
they’re all - me included, of course - making a fundamental mistake.
Failures know a lot about failure, sure. But knowing failure is
completely different from knowing success. Fixing your mistakes
doesn’t mean success takes their place - you’ve just got a point to
start at, is all. That’s something failures don’t understand.”

I empathized with the MC so much that I cried throughout the story. It was bittersweet to see him explore where he could gain happiness from. There are many morals you can gain from this story, depending on what kind of circumstances you're going through. It really is an incredibly sorrowful yet uplifting story. I will definitely reread it someday when I'm at a different point in life.

I don't know how such amazing authors can portray all these emotions so well.

This read has been a great short read, nothing short of 5 stars.

Such a beautiful story.

A story of redemption, love, sadness, and fulfillment.

Kinda wanted to kill myself in the beginning chapters, as the drama added to my bad psychism of the exams period.

Luckily I read until the end, cried, and felt lost at the beauty of this work.

The afterword is beautiful and sad, making my vision on life and death expand.

Seriously an amazing work from an author who I hope will find his happiness as well.

Gonna curl up like a shrimp and cry in my bed now, with much to think about.

What a great story! It is so good that I don't have anything to say about it because I'll either spoil something or give some sort of false expectations. You just have to read this for yourself. I recommend starting at chapter 1 and returning to "I Say A Little Prayer" after reading the main story.

I can't explain the amount of feels I have right now. The characters, the story, the events. It was too good. The MC is relatable. And the Heroine too. Still crying, even tho 20 minutes has already passed since I've finished. Definitely a recommendation for those who'd like a good story.

I found it dull at the beginning but very good at the end.

Beause the protagonist and his only one friend turned their whole lives into garbage. Why ? Because in 'elementary' school they felt that they were 'above' their idiotic classmates; there wasn't anyone who 'truly' understood them and thus refused to talk to people.

This is what I disliked. The second-half of the story is very good because Miyanagi.

A story of an imperfect man trying to attach a meaning to life. Some words that can be used to describe this story are: thought-provoking, emotional, deep, sensational, etc., but these all still fall short of the essence of it. Right after reading this novel, I, unfortunately, do not have the mental focus to properly describe this story; however, as the other comments have already mentioned, it was definitely well-worth my time. The translation quality is certainly great, the idea novel, and the story-telling amazing. It's one of those rare... more>> stories that just hit you in the gut; though, rather than hitting you than just hitting you in the gut, it also squeezes out your brain juices and pushes on your tear glands. <<less

This novel is so satisfying. After reading this, I feel that I wouldn't want to read anything anymore. The ending can't be considered perfect but it was so fitting for the novel. The pacing was so great and the translation can't be better. One of the best novel that I have read.
