If you are looking for a story to pass the time, and get a good laugh this is it. The characters are well developed and it might get interesting to see how they pan out as the story progresses.

Makes you wonder if somebody will make a smartphone reincarnation next....... oh who am I kidding, it'll happen!

It's a really interesting premise, and very well written. You get hooked pretty quick! A slice-of-life story, but so interesting you want to just keep reading it.

There's not really any romance - he's a vending machine. I like that there's no drama about it.

Aaaaand! You learn a lot about vending machines. And then get hungry. Uuuwaaaaa~ Oden...

Pro: MC is a vending machine
Con: MC is a vending machine

The story is OK. Not good but has good moments. The other reviews say it's funny. Well, there are some funny part and a lot of "funny" part (when you understand the joke but it's just... mehhhh).

MC is a vending machine. Seriously, what kind of future hopes does this have? I just can't like it. If MC was at least a brick, he still would have some hope. (In short I hate this kind of MC)

Story: 3/5, MC:... more>> 1/5 ---> 2/5 <<less

If there’s a vending machine there, it’s said that it’s a sign that the public order is peaceful.
Then, for a vending machine me that’s here to protect each and every one of them, there should be no complaints!

Very funny, but sometimes weirdly emotional.

(Update as of chapter 42: This last chapter has quite a few Grammar errors, enough to make it difficult to stomach. Most of the paragraphs are almost indecipherable gibberish as far as grammar goes. Not nearly as entertaining as previous chapters either. I'm guessing there was just no editor/proof reader this time around to fix things up.)

Another one I can't give a proper review to, my current bias is too skewed because of personal preference. I was not expecting this story to be this entertaining. I was expecting... more>> something extremely mundane without my MC interaction. It's a fun read, plays on a bunch of arch-types.

Not my usual cup-a-tea, but it's better than a lot of the other stuff I've been reading to pass the time. Maybe in the future after re-reading it a few times I'll come back and be able to do a proper review. <<less

It's your basic reincarnation story in a fantasy world with rpg mechanics for the protagonist. Except he's a vending machine. It's a great satire of the genre. Where as other novels would have the MC decide to go down class upgrade path to gain op magic or fighting ability, in this one he levels up to be capable of selling instant ramen.

I Reincarnated Into a Vending Machine (novel)

Sets out to do one thing, and does that thing competently and resolutely

Don't let the title fool you: it describes what happens in the story perfectly! This is a story about a vending machine reincarnation set in a dungeon-fantasy world, and it keeps to its promise whole-heartedly and steadfastly, holding onto the title of greatest vending machine reincarnation fantasy of all time like a jealous and unmerciful king.

Reading this story has left me in awe and not a tiny amount of disbelief regarding... more>> vending machines in Japan. I can't tell what might be just made up for this story, and what is real anymore. If true, Japan's vending machines are a culture of their own, an alien existence somehow transplanted into the technoscape of Earth by some kind of mischievous alien box deity.

The writing is competent, the characters are there, there is plenty of humour and the elevator pitch twist reincarnation is there every step of the way. Our MC faces adversity, adventure, fun times and dangerous times, all with some kind of actual pacing going on. I wouldn't be surprised if the author was an LN veteran doing a fun little parody side-project for a while. The vending machine can't even offer potions! That is just unimaginable!

Only a few places feel a bit boring, but the story moves on and changes all the time. No grinding, no repetition, no quests and very few stats, all competently written for an LN and readable. If you're looking for a light palate cleanser to remind you that isekai still has hope, check it out.

This is the story of the most OP vending machine in the history of vending machines. And that's a promise. <<less

Maybe I expected too much from this. It was ok, but nothing special. Quite boring actually. Comedy was ok but there was no plot and the economics side was just too simple. The main character is also so generic and sexist that it is not even funny. More like annoying.

If you have nothing better to do then this book is pretty short and light reading.

Read It!

Definitely give this a go. It breaks through the usual reincarnation tropes. Its hilarious and heart warming. It also captures a realistic feeling, as in, "i would do what this MC does."

He loves vending machines so he's making the most out of being one!

Surprisingly good isekai. The premise is great and doesn't fall apart as the story developes. The author clearly did his homework... or he maybe a vending machine fanatuc himself.

The MC is far from OP and is a good bloke who actually cares for others around him.

There's nothing new brought to the table except for the great premise but it's well written and worth the read.

The premise is a pretty standard light novel about reincarnation into a gaming/fantasy setting, but the protagonist is a vending machine.

I enjoyed reading this because I got to know a little more into the vending machines of Japan, but if you're not really into an inanimate object trying to make a business off adventurers then it might not be for you. It's more so the business management then the adventure, although there is adventuring going on with the side characters and a few times that they decided to bring the... more>> vending machine on long expeditions because of his food capabilities.

Giving this a 5 for my personal enjoyment, but if you want more action with a similar inanimate reincarnation try "I was a Sword when I reincarnated". <<less

Series is fun, I enjoy reading it. If you take it seriously you might as well go elsewhere, it has a plot and it tries to accomplish it. I'm not sure if it'll stay 4 stars because it was starting to get repetitive, but for now it's a lot of fun to read.

Rating: 4, Translation: 4.5

[Rating/Translation scale: 5 = almost all readers may enjoy / infrequent minor errors. 4 = large majority of readers may enjoy / frequent minor errors or infrequent major errors, no difficulty to read. 3 = 50% of readers may enjoy / frequent major errors, unable to understand some sentences or a paragraph in a chapter. 2 = niche audience may enjoy / unable to understand moderate portion of a chapter. 1 = portion of niche audience may enjoy / unable to understand most of a chapter.]

Description: A... more>> vending machine otaku dies after trying to save a vending machine from damage, and reincarnates to a dungeon inside a fantasy world as a vending machine. He cannot really do anything on his own or communicate much, but he can earn points and exchange them for upgrades to his vending machine body. He befriends several adventurers and uses his vending machine body and functions to assist them.

Positives: I was wondering how this concept would play out, and it was surprisingly creative. MC figures out ways to get out of messy situations with various vending machine functions. Some of them are amusing. The setting is fairly standard for reincarnation stories, but I thought some of the ideas are pretty original. The storytelling is focused and coherent.

Negatives: The pace may feel slow for some readers. The MC can barely communicate with the other characters, so it's all in POV and mostly inner monologue or observations, but I didn't think it rambled. Some readers may not like an MC with a lot of limitations. The MC cannot move, and relies on the main supporting character to transport him, so he's basically sedentary or along for the ride. The scope of the story is a bit small. The story is about 24 chapters per volume, currently in early 3rd volume at chapter 54. So far, the MC has only been to 2 levels of a dungeon, and barely anything has been mentioned about the world outside the dungeon.

Other: The translation rate seems to have slowed down. It's currently around 1 chapter every 3-4 weeks. I'm not sure if there is a light novel version of this, but there seems to be 3 volumes available on Amazon.

Overall: Surprisingly interesting and original spin on the typical reincarnation setting. I liked it, and I'm interested in seeing how MC will solve the next problem with his vending machine body. I think a large majority of reincarnation fans would like this, but some readers will not like the slower pace, the limitations to the MC, or the small size of the universe. <<less

Honestly, I would like to give this a rating of about 3.5 stars but I'll be generous. The concept is really weird but it works well. The main reason is that the author sticks to the premise. The MC is a vending machine. Aside from one fairly limited magic-like skill he has vending machine abilities. When he gains new abilities they're all related to vending machines. Even when this trend is finally broken he only gains abilities of other coin-operated machines. This is the way to do one of these... more>> goofy reincarnation stories. <<less

I love this story, if you like a different kind of reincarnation story like Reincarnated into a Dungeon, then you will love this. Honestly it can be very funny and the MC accepts being a vending machine very quickly since he was a maniac for them pre-reincarnation.

It is very cute and funny. It the dummest premise I've ever heard but it works, so I love it. I had very low expectations when I first started reading it, but my low expectations were exceeded immediately. It is average if I had to put it bluntly, there is a few new things the author could play around with because the MC was a vending machine, unfortunately, as it progressed it became your run of the mill, isekai.

The comedy was good throughout but that is pretty... more>> much the only thing the story had going for it. The plot is practically non-existent as well. It did help with my boredom however so I'd give it a solid 7/10. <<less

Read this for awhile, was ok at first but they just keep repeating some of the same story lines over and over again. Vending machine in a desolate place no one around, then suddenly someone or something comes by, confused about what this large red box is then becomes its friend rinse and repeat practically all the time.

This is a fantastic read.

It's jokes are only fairly funny but it's really good at building likable characters and interesting situations. Because of the main characters situation of being a vending machine it legitimately makes you wonder "How's he gonna get out of this one?". Being the main character he's obviously going to be amazing at the things he can do, but the fact that he can't do anything at all by himself (at the beginning at least) and that the things he can do in general are extremely limited... more>> it's a good way of building tension.

I'd say this is also appreciated in a different way in the west than in japan as well. As the character can only take on traits that actual vending machines he has used in the past have had, it's much harder to guess what he's going to take advantage of next as we don't really have a vending machine culture. For instance, when he mentioned that coin operated washing machines are vending machines my main reaction was "Huh, yeah I guess they are kind of, aren't they?".

The main characters inability to operate on his own is a bit frustrating but I think it builds good tension so it's not a major problem. My only other nit-pick is that we don't really get given his stats at a lot of opportunities so it's harder to gradually track his growth, but that's mostly just because I like numbers.

All in all, if you can appreciate a story where the main character, while powerful in his own way, is dependent upon others then it's a great choice of a read. If you're looking for a story where the main character takes care of most things himself and is the best of the best at everything, then you'll want to look elsewhere. <<less
