In Shanjing city in the Asian region, Wang Zheng’s dreams of becoming a mech pilot are crushed when his college entrance exam genetic score turns out a pathetic twenty eight, barely above an animal.
To make things worse, people get the impression he attempted su*cide after being rejected by the campus beauty.
Then the closest thing to a family he has, the old man in the book store across the road, goes missing, leaving him only a mysterious birthday present.

- Wang Zheng (our protagonist) has shown no real growth outside of getting physically stronger for 700+ chapters. He's a fairly typical low profile MC that only gets excited around fighting strong opponents. Otherwise he's just unassuming for the ever present and annoying face slapping sections. At the point in the story that I'm at the character has achieved much but is still put down as a weak idiot just to have face slapping moments.
- Aina is not a character. If you were to ask me to write about her personality I wouldn't be able to write anything other than she's a beautiful princess who likes Wang Zheng. Even her younger sister has far more characterization than her.
- Ye Zisu is scarcely better. I guess she's beautiful, had a crush on Wang Zheng since youth, and and I guess she's a mecha designer but otherwise she's a background character in a harem anime. The kind of girl that hangs around a guy for decades hoping for the guy to notice but is fine with never being noticed. I hate that crap. If you're going to do a harem then make one but this wishy-washy stuff needs to go.
I was going to go down and describe characters but... more>>The novel got to the point where the last couple of chapters or so rushed to the point where it was a basically a summary of what happened. Disappointed that the author basically did a time-skip that could have held another arc or two.
It's good. In a way that even though the author is just throwing around random bullsh*t about physics and science that doesn't even make a single bit of sense, I couldn't stop reading. The pacing of the novel is alright, but the translation style tends to remove the transitions so that the narrative seems all over the place. But still good. Neato. Kudos to the translators.
BTW this is probably my first time rating novels, so I'll explain how I rate my stuff. Junkfood is around 8.5—9.5, because even though I know it's shit, I just can't stop reading. I'll rate other novels I'll read in the future using food, so when you see me, just ignore that.
