I just started reading however I have no idea how to feel about what I read so far.

I don’t think the author understands how games or their fan base work and it throws me off. If this is going to be a good novel it will based on character driven dynamics.

This novel may induce nerd rage. Ex: character cast a spell that destroys goblins with the force of a black hole, vaporizing them, but their magic cores are unharmed because they’re harder than diamonds?

It’s like a 13 year old wanted... more>> to describe a cool battle scene but forgot to look up the definitions of the words they used. <<less

Not going to lie... I have read several novels with similar plot intro' as this story but I will be honest when I say I like this one best.... it just... flows right for me. like the MC doesn't take 40 freakin years to realize what's going on, he has an IQ of over 45, KNOWS what he wants to do and while he 'wants to be inconspicuous' he knows when to ope a can of woop A and when to purchase a ticket for the Pain Train. and there... more>> isn't any pansy "i can't hurt it cause it might be sentient" that realistically no 'human' would have as, I'm sorry but, as a species we will mu*der are own family for money, food, secrets you name it

Now then dislikes:story is fast paced, that's fine, would however like some fill-in chapters; translation is slow BUT it's way better than a lot of others that only put out a chapter a month; it gives me mild romantic expectations which you would think is good but very few translations are ever actually finished <<less

Please Author San, please stop. Like other reviewers have stated. The MC says he is one thing, then acts in the opposite way. Examples: ... more>>
Spoiler

"I'm not going to get involved in politics"-trains the Duke's family, positioning them to become unmatched powerhouses; "I don't care about other people"-tells a bunch of dudes stealing a sword that it will break when used; "I need a job"-doesn't even look to teach anyone else after being told his teaching is transformative

Do a majority of Japanese people lie to themselves like these characters do. This isn't the only novel that does this, but this may be one of the most anoying ones.

Besides the previous flaws, there is so much wasted time/words on useless garbage. I stuck it out trying to see if it would get better, but it got worse instead. Gave up at chapter 25. <<less

Very enjoyable so far. Character's feel fairly well developed over the first couple of chapters. MC knows what he wants and isn't your typical clueless isekai character. The Student seems interesting as well as the duke as well.

Will be a fun story & hope translation speed will increase.

First, author have a good grasp on what he want to write.

Second, pacing and story flow are very good.

Third, author tend to portray how bad something was but contradict what happens next in the story.

... more>> Fourth, author tend to compare real world standard and political stand point that he use it to push his own point of view/idea to his readers. Which is a big no for a fictional made up story.

I want to give it a 3 stars but author pushing his own ideals to readers make me remove 1 star as it is a fiction story not a news article. <<less

Just picked this up the other day, as I'm a Cheat Novel fan, I love when the MC is overpowered to oblivion (don't judge me!). So far it seems to be following a lot of the traits. MC dies, reincarnated into another world that has a similar world system to a game that he, coincedentally, is one of the top players in.

Thank god someone TL'ing this series. A battle crazed ossan who wants to live ordinary live. He wants a slow life by farming. In this hectic world, this ossan would be known as the strongest Wiseman. He change the world concept of magic instantly with his gaming knowledge. As the world was so similar with the VRMMORPG that cost him his life. Met the battle junkie ossan, spartan training ossan, DT ossan, mad magic tools researcher, he farm mandragoras and raising fighting chickens (even adventurers started training with the chickens)...... more>> he is a crazy but childish sage with powers that can destroy a country.

Spoiler

he built a super lawnmower that flew and gone rampage around the world, saving many people who encounter the lawnmower...

... with his game skills, the strongest sage walks the path of farming..... no.. its not another farming story.

Okay, I thought this WN sounded so familiar, and as I read, I thought that I'd read this before and was wondering why I'd dropped it, until 3 words appeared, "crazy ape." NOW I remember. The author thought he was being funny with this idea, but in over 50 yrs of my life, I have NEVER used the "R" word, but I must warn that this is the most ret*rded piece of literature that I've EVER read. I realized that as the memory came back to me. I doubt that... more>> the author has graduated middle school, that's how bad it is.

First of all, the knights, seasoned knights who are supposed to protect King and country, and the veteran adventurers who are supposed to stare death in the eye and laugh, are all 5 yr olds when it comes to mentality and personality. It's really sad. I'm not going to say more. If it weren't for the crazy white apes, then this would be a shounen. It reads like a shounen as mentioned in the first sentence of this paragraph, all characters but the SUPER OP MC are 5 yr olds in mentality and maturity, just like in every other shounen. The story line is exactly like every other shounen. The actions of that ape is the ONLY thing to make this novel for a mature audience, but everything else is of an elementary schoolers level.

Then the translating: The first group I give 3 stars, but didn't make it to the second, so I don't know about them. Good luck if you decide to read this PoS. 1 star is all that it gets from me, and I wish I could give it less. <<less

The story only really has two things going for it:

1. An interesting magic system. I really like the IDEA of the magic system, it really makes it feel like the main character earned their power despite being insanely OP. The main character had to actually learn the magic system in his previous life before being transferred to his current world. However, the idea of using machine code to "program" magic is rather silly.

2. The MC is atypical for Isekai. Rather than being an old guy that gets reincarnated into a... more>> young body and suddenly acts young, MC decides to stay is his shady old guy body and consistently acts like and old shady guy. He's not exactly unique as his character archetype exists in other novels/anime but it's the first time I have scene this character type as the MC.

This is one of those stories that the MC constantly states they wanna live a slow life doing X but constantly gets "dragged" into other peoples problems. It's not really worth complaining about as a story about an OP MC doing nothing but farming would be incredibly boring. <<less

The protagonist has incredible power, but all he wants to do is be a farmer. I won't say that's a bad goal, but I can't relate with it. The protagonist wants to have a family, but I have not seen any romance or real attempts at romance yet. The age of the protagonist limits romance options.

If you enjoyed "The Wizard Raised Through TRPG is Still the Strongest in the Other World", and the lack of ambition of this protagonist does not bother you, then you will probably enjoy this novel.

i just like how the MC not using a patern that he is somehow lived in the deep mountain instead he use a reason he want to retire and seek peacefull life even he is not there before. An op MC but he cover it with a reason to seek peacefull life. Not a pacifist but rationalist I think. And the romance so so.

I wasn't sure about this story at first, but after 15 chapters or so it's slowly starting to come around. The story is a pretty typical for the genre, but the characters are becoming well developed instead of the usual cookie cutter tropes that many authors seem to push and the author blends in just enough comedy into to make it enjoyable. If I had any knock to give it so far is that the MC seems to go off on random tangents from time to time pushing his real... more>> world views onto readers, but they aren't that common and if you ignore them then its building up to be a good story. Well worth the read. <<less

For these 6 chapters from the novels I read so far, well, it portrays differently from the manga (I read first).

I like the MC 'cause he's mature (really, just imagined if you're on that age and "tried" to not make much a hassle)

Until this far, the story progressed well, not much absurdity, but still decorated with fictions. This is a new refreshing novel to read for me

I hope there's another translator who will pick this up, cause silverlining seems to drop this project

Really bad novel, to summarize:

The plot is nonsensical, the MC has a goal that he could realize with the snap of a finger, but doesn't because plot reasons. And don't get me started in how he reincarnated in the isekai world.

The characters are unlikable and inconsistent, you have to classic of blaming the MC for not helping people while they don't help either, nagging for the sake of nagging, and a MC that must be bipolar and idiot, considering how he says something and does the opposite every single time.

The... more>> power levels are all over the place, you have your super OP MC that is over level 1000, and still many times stronger for his level thanks to his stats, but the author has him run away from level 100 enemies because the author thought it would be funny. Also, the author wants you to believe in every fight that the MC is having a hard time when he really should be able to slap to death any monster he encounters.

There is a lot more stuff to criticize, like how most of the chapters are info dumps of stuff that is not relevant, or the usual but still annoying habit of every JP novel to get obsessed with making Japanese food in the new world, but you get the point <<less

First, the author is basically turning his wet dreams into a manga, there are a lot, ill list a few.

-Grandpa imagining his daughter naked, -—Thieves r*pe (shown), orcs/goblins r*pe (implied)
-NTR
-Gorillas attempting to f*ck a man (still get shivers thinking abt it)

And a lot more... it ruins the comedic taste of the story. Dont misunderstand me, there are no fan service, its purely bad taste, not even sexy or anything.

Second, the main character has absolutely no development whatsoever, its also inconsistent, the MC cant even kill a... more>> goblin, saying that it is still a lifeform after all, however killing dozens of bandits in the next panel.

Conclusion, this is the epitome of shit. <<less

Yeah! I like this one. Maybe younger people wouldnt understand ossan. But for who lived in the city and told by my parents to visit then in countryside, I kinda understand him. The awesomeness of harvesting yout own crops and the feeling of listening the nights quietness. Guess only ossan will understand.

It's just bad overall. All characters were simpleminded, ultra OPTIMISTIC, and lacking uniqueness. The plot is very weak, a bland mix mash of various JP generic isekai. Everyone just praises the MC in every corner when he shows off a little and said how he's so great that no one can be compared to.

Banters between MC and other characters were super awkward with dry humor, very amateurish writing. There's a bit of plot hole regarding MC massive magic pool when he mentions he will run out of mana in multiple... more>> contexts. And as other reviewers said, MC explanation/complaint in regard to politics doesn't make sense or maybe lost in translation. <<less

After reading Volume 1 of the official English Light Novel:

So far it is “okayish”. The writing is all over the place, either the author has never written a story / book before or the translator used cheap machine translation and just edited the worst parts. It also is pretty clear that in the original they just collected the webnovel chapters without further editing since almost every chapter starts with a recap of some sort. That is fine for webnovels but in a “one piece” novel? Come on!

Another thing I thought... more>> of kinda weird was when the servant asked the MC if he knew how to take a bath and the answer was the japanese version, scrubbing down first and when clean get into the bath (to sleep or whatever ^^). NO, that is NOT how you bathe! I understand that historically in Japan families used the same bathwater or still share it in bathhouses. The correct way to really get clean is to get into the bathwater, let your skin get soft and then scrub it off. When done you take a shower to rinse it off. So if there is no need to save water there is no need to do it the Japanese way. And why would a “western” fantasy world bathe like the Japanese in the first place?

I do like the magic system, it is kinda fresh but of course it is convenient for the story. Else, the story progresses like a million others of this kind. MC gets transported to another world and has no clue where he is. When he reaches the first road there are some bandits attacking a noble and MC rescues him. And bang, MC gets all connections and hospitality he needs to live a comfortable life in that world. *Yawn*.

Also the level system is not congruent. So even a small rabbit in the monster forrest is level 300. That means the other monsters must be way higher. While in the human parts a level 500 means you’re a sage and the strongest of the strong. That makes no sense. If a rabbit is level 300 then a wyvern must bei level 3000 or so. Even the MC wouldn’t be able to take that down easily. The auther should have gone with level 30 for the rabbit so that an ordinary soldier would be able to take it down with some effort. The scaling here isn’t really well thought out.

The whole thing screams “cheap testrun”. If future volumes will be the same sloppy “collection” this series will be discontinued (as LN) soon. <<less

So... a mixed bag.

Starts out with a great concept and a few well-written bits of world building and plot with enough twists to keep things interesting.

Why it doesn't rate higher is the author's annoying habit of going hard into the paint when it comes to "Japanese Comedy" or whatever it is that he's thinking that Nipponese Otaku will find amusing, like the whole "karoshi" or "death by overwork" thing that's big in GLORIOUS NIPPON, the weird "power reversal" thing where some ostensibly overpowered MC gets easily bullied by annoying small... more>> fry that should easily get Minecrafted by the MC, the existence of side-characters that only function to deliver some sort of half-baked manzai dialogue, and whatever else the author thinks is his "subtle" way of critiquing the failures of Nipponese society at large.

Vast swaths of what could have been entertaining story arcs are ruined by the author giving up good storytelling for the sake of shoe-horning in his half-baked and ill-fitting "Japanese Comedy" into a plot that never needed it. Maybe it's amusing to him, but any editor half-worth their salary would have smacked him upside his shiny dome and attempted to beat into him the concept that sometimes, less is more-- either until the author finally got it or he expired from blood loss and internal injuries.

If you're able to either tolerate the author's many failings or perhaps just filter them out you may have a chance at piecing together a somewhat decent story out of this often messy jumble of ideas, but if you're hoping for some easy snack reading, this isn't quite it.

I understand that there are TWO manga adaptations currently running for this work, and so far they've kept the author's excessive "Japanese Comedy" to a minimum, so perhaps either the mangaka are using their discretion in favor of good storytelling, or they're adapting from the light novel which has a competent editor reigning in the author. <<less

Enjoyed reading this. Thank you Silver lining for translating this. With only few chapters out, it's unreasonable to judge the plot. I did personally enjoy the rationale of the protagonist after he realized the consequences of his actions. The romance so far is alright. The translation quality is great, I didn't have any immersion breaking issues with the translation.
