Lacking a pocket dimension, power, a thigh to hug onto, and the three life advantages (money, power, and looks), he had been cautiously living in the apocalypse for ten years, getting closer to falling inside the zombie’s mouths.

Unexpectedly, he had the terrible luck, to be caught in a fight between two gangs and die, it really left people feeling disappointed. When he opened his eyes, he had returned to a decade ago, three months before the apocalypse!

Like before he still lacked an ability, an ordinary person without a pocket dimension, but he did have ten full years of experience living in the apocalypse! Even if he didn’t fight zombies, didn’t hunt monsters, he could still live a carefree farming life in the safe zone.

Find a safe house, utilise all kinds of skills from his previous life to farm in exchange for meat, and if possible, find a person to peacefully spend the rest of his life with; ordinary people had their own ordinary little pieces of happiness.

Originally believing he had picked up a beauty he returned home to prepare a golden house, but on the contrary he was the one being pushed down……someone once said, whether it is people or matters, by no means can you only look at the surface!

As a slice of life lover, it is one of the best novels I have ever read, all pairings made sense to me and everything seemed very coherent.

I greatly enjoyed this novel. For an apocalypse setting novel, the characters are refreshing. At least, the main character is different from the typical trope that is in-line with this genre. I love how the author decided to make:

Spoiler

the main character power-free and only has to rely on his previous knowledge from his past life. Also, regarding the Male lead, I also love how he decided to live with his lover, turning his back on once again taking power and building influence.

[collapse]

Basically, this novel is a slice of life in an apocalypse world. You get to enjoy how our characters try to survive the onslaught of the zombie siege and their desire to at least live a carefree life. There are lovable and bad-ass characters in here. There is a decent plot especially in the first arc of the novel, the rest is the story of how

Spoiler

they try to build their own base outside from the one that is created by the military.

[collapse]

Another spoiler to those who also enjoy fluff in a novel.

Spoiler

The main CP has its own child. How? You just have to read the novel to find out.

[collapse]

Just a few heads up to future readers:

Aside from our main CP there are also side CP, that is on the same team as them. They are low-key bad-ass since the rest of the people are not aware of how successful their hunts every time they leave the military base.

Lastly, You have to be patient with the translation, it's MTL-ed but rest assure, as someone who is doesn't enjoy reading MTL, you can at least enjoy this one. You will not have terrible headaches. So thank you as well to the ar work of the translators.

All in all, it's a happy ending. So I recommended it to all of you. <<less

A 4.5 for me.

This is actually a good read. A leisure one. I started this not expecting much, which is also a good thing since this is really slow paced, not action packed and not full of drama.

The story is all about their life surviving in the apocalypse. It's quite interesting for me, and I understand that this isn't for everyone.

Still I enjoyed this one.

Fantastic read! Just my very own cup of tea. The romance here is not so exaggerated conpared to others of the same genre. Subtle but strong relationships can be seen and felt. The novel is good. It had a very realistic goal for most common people in about any situation.

It's a rather slow-paced slice of life novel with little character development. MC isn't OP but he has a lot of skills from his past life. The romance is almost non-existent, it was mentioned a little bit here and there but I feel like I wanted more.

The reason why I gave this a three stars is because of two characters, which I found rather annoying, that is Zhang Yi and Xinran. The former irritates people just for the sake of it and the latter is a kid who insists on... more>> taking home a bunch of animals in winter, animals which are huge and hard to feed or control (and mind you, this is the god damn apocalypse). And the author writes as if a kid doing that is so cute. I know that these mutant animals are supposed to be useful later on but it doesn't sound very logical to begin with.

Overall, it's an ok novel that I've been reading just to relax or waste some time but that's about it. <<less

Well, it's not bad. Actually, the author did a great job researching and writing about survival, cooking, farming... and cooking, farming... and still cooking and still farming... going to hunt zombies for a weekend... return cooking and farming.... ^^'

Let's be serious, being detailed is a really good thing, but the plot needs to speed up. Half of the chapters are about MC cooking or, guess, farming, the other half is about plot progression, and that is the part I really enjoy. I'd like it to be less of the former... more>> and more of the latter...

All in all, a good novel, but it requires patience. You want the fast action, the smut, the breathtaking cliff-hungers... not your thing.

Story: 7/10 (the reason is written above)

Characters: 8/10 (the main characters are well described and coherent, points deducted because we know almost nothing about four of the most important characters besides the initial presentation, no in-depth background or daily life description. I feel neglected for them.)

Translation: 3.5/5 (most of the time it's good, but points are taken because of typos and occasional slips the editor should watch out for) <<less

I MTLed it and even though google translate is terrible, the story makes up for it. The world building is good, and novel enough to be interesting. I appreciate the approach this protagonist has to the apocalypse (not trying to become OP, just trying to survive and live well), it makes him relateable.

Spoiler

The OP problem in particular is solved by the fact that he doesn't have any powers. This makes the fruits of his efforts all the more sweet, and I love how the author used this characteristic of his to create a team dynamic with his weaker fighting power being made up for by his leadership and planning skills.

This is a great slice-of-life novel, all about an ordinary person reborn into the apocalypse who wants nothing more than a safe and cozy hamster nest.

As a romance, it's somewhat lacking, more so as it goes on - after the two are together, it can go ten chapters without there being any mention of the two interacting in any sense more than, "ML did this part of the collecting. MC did this part of the collecting."

However, the main reason I give it a four rather than a five is a... more>> total spoiler based on reading the raws to completion, so read at your own risk.

Spoiler

This author has never heard of the Chekov's gun principle - that is, if you show a gun in the first act, it has to go off somewhere in the rest of the play. For people who are used to face smacking novels, this is the opposite - face ignoring. Here's a bare fraction of the things that seemed like they might eventually go somewhere:

ML's father wants to make use of him, and is in top echelon of the base.

... ML says no. That's it.

ML has a face to make gods weep and so constantly wears a mask.

Never really brought up. His mask never comes off. MC doesn't care.

Base keeps reorganizing in more and more draconian forms, eventually sacrificing a good portion of the citizenry.

They're very successful and go happily on their way.

MC and group create a fantastic base, complete with ornamental garden, game room, and bouncy castle

No one else ever knows. No one ever sees it. No problems arise with it.

[collapse]

Here's the non-spoilery version: basically, the author is just doing their own thing, and any hints you see at narrative threads are only in your mind. There is one thread in this thing: happy people building bases. Keep your mind in the space like you're watching a lightly BL version of House Flippers: Apocolypse Version and you'll enjoy it much more. <<less

This is a boy love story since it's not yet in the tags.

The story itself is interesting so far. However it feels like Machine Translations at times with the sentence structure being incorrect and missing words. Not a very good translations in some parts while normal translation in other parts.

Spoiler

Chapter 41 closer to the end:

Today they would pry back with partners, all those materials would not be kept just in a few houses, wanted to speed up to rob in front of those people!

Let me get this out of the way first...I personally dislike yaoi/yuri genre, so anything with those tags are automatically eliminated...

Accidently read this when I was looking for apocalypse genre, and thank god I did... the story line is fantastic, it is an interesting read for those who have read a lot of novels based on the apocalypse. For this story, I had to remind myself that one of them is a female and not a male to be able to read it. Still dislike the yaoi in the story... more>> though... <<less

I really love this story. The characters are well thought out, the interaction between the MC and ML is beautiful, and also between the MC and the other side characters. The MC is very realistic in that he has no powers and everything he achieved is due to foreknowledge (even with this he couldn't prepare for all contingencies), brains, hard work and the cooperation of his teammates. Details are properly fleshed out and accounted for, there is no wondering what happened to this and that.

I will be visiting this again.... more>> A very wonderful apocalyptic read. <<less

It was my comfort novel, thank you so much for the translation!

The MC is smart and strategic, also not wildly selfless but not selfish. I liked all of the main cast and was very satisfied to see everyone got their own little happy endings. It's just very nice to think that in the original timeline MC is from, everything's completely different because everyone got to meet each other and become a family. I liked that it wasn't just about the main couple but it was about everyone as a family... more>> living their lives as harmoniously as they can in the apocalypse while cooperating and watching out for one another even amidst the teasing and jokes.

It made me feel at peace to read the final chapter, because MC got
Spoiler

to have the son he always wanted and so much more, he has friends that are like his family, a loyal lover, a safe place to call home, a stable flow of income and resources, and to even live further and more fulfilled than his previous life. I'm just so content with it.

[collapse]

I only have a few gripes which're only small, not big enough to ruin the read:

Spoiler

It doesn't happen too often but things just feel a little bit too convenient sometimes? Like it was hard and difficult for their part but you'd just feel that way sometimes when things happen in the novel.

I would have just a little bit wished to see more of the world of it expanded. Like what happened to the other past members of the thorned roses group of Xu Mei? I would have wanted to meet them. What happened to their fellow work colleagues on the wall? You can guess and hypothesize but it's still unsaid. Also how did other bases and teams utilize the traps and technology? Like just a wider look about the world after/during the apocalypse but I'm guessing that's not what the author wants, which is fair.

[collapse]

But overall I'm really happy having read it all. If you want something you can read casually with some intense moments here and there, mixed with a good bit of peaceful but busy living. I think this would be a pretty good book for you. <<less

Literally everything you could ever want out of a slice of life/apocalypse/farming novel. It’s perfect!! I will be reading this again. Thoroughly enjoyed all 258 chapters. I never felt bored or overwhelmed by the story.

the main characters are great and domestic and adorable and realistic.

I’m so glad the Luo Xun stayed a normal human the entire novel. Never over powered, just knowledgeable. Yan Fei was slightly over powered but the way the author did it made it feel possible.

also.. NO SPACE abilities!! I’ve read a lot of apocalypse novels and that ability really annoys me now. This novel was a breath of fresh air. I am so glad this one had no space abilities

This is going to sound weird, but no story satisfies my instincts as a hunter-gatherer species more than this one.

There are action scenes a plenty and some romance (I'd dare to call it romance-light), but this story's primary focus is shelter-building and resource accumulation. If you are down for chapters of gradual progression where characters do things like barter for solar panels, hunt for glass, and install shelves for crops, you're going to be okay.

What I liked most about this story is the very equal power dynamic between MC and... more>> ML. ML has some sort of mutant metal superpower and puts it to use nearly every chapter, making him extremely useful. However, the non-powered MC is an extremely capable planner and the unquestioned leader of the squad they assemble. He is relied upon by the entire group to call the shots. Both MC and ML respect and support one another completely. There's some rare moments very early on when ML fantasizes about "pouncing" or tofu eating or whatever but this disappears with a quickness. The most you'll get is an extremely occasional "waist too sore to walk" moment from the MC that neither he nor the story dwells on for long.

Besides that, I like that ALL members of the squad are useful. There is zero dead weight on the team. If I had any complaints, it'd be that the ending is quite abrupt, and the fat jokes surrounding one character got old fast (these eventually calm down a bit but they never truly go away, and "liking food" is basically his entire personality). I still like this story quite a bit. <<less
