I just finished ch188 out of 275 chapters released so far. I've noticed that up to where I've read, he has killed only one person, and it's an enemy that was so powerful that the lives of his family was threatened. Otherwise, dozens of his normal enemies constantly insult him, try to steal from him, or other things, and the worse that ever happens is that the MC beats them up.

And the thing is, the fight scenes suck. It's just a slug fest. I suppose that it should be applauded... more>> that a cultivation story like this doesn't involve death, but there's no excitement in the fights to make up for it. Baddie uses a move, MC dodges or counters it, baddie gets sent flying away spitting blood. And that's it. The oddest thing is, even fights with super powerful spiritual beasts don't end in death, the minor nobodies just cough blood and get thrown away. BORING!

The one good thing is the relationship between the MC and his love interest. <<less

it was really boring, at firs it seemed very promising but later it was this damn repetitive action of encountering enemies, fighting then winning just like that. The protagonist should be the special and genius one so why the f*ck all and every enemy he encountered was stronger than him and his allies who at firs seemed very strong later turned into some useless sh*t who couldn't do anything at all? For example Shen Cangshen looks like a very strong senior but later became completely useless and was jus all... more>> talk.🤨 And pleas tell me why the hell all the people who the protagonist help are women who, all of them, later have a crush on him without considering the age, position, circumstances or anything and all the enemies are men who have an eye for female lead or one of those rescued women? Why the f*ck the ML's progress this slow? ML at first seemed like a mature guy but later he turned out to be just a hot headed and arrogant person.😤 and why all the enemies so s*upid, unreasonable and arrogant? And why they are all so talkative? No matter in what situation there is lots of talk about the plan, the situation, the location, the power, the past and etc. In the end I don't recommend this novel it was such waste of time repeating the same process, some characters just lost in between and then suddenly the author rush everything and missed some details or maybe just skipped it. At first it was interesting but later it disappointed me and not dropping it was a mistake. The only reason I continued and give it two stars was because the world which the author created was some what admirable there was lots of different academy, locations, power structure, different elixirs, treasures and etc. The author also created lots of people with different personality which he could use them for making the story really better but in the end this many characters became nothing but the novel's weakness and burden even some character who has a strong entrance at first just dissapeared in the middle and gets forgotten.🙄 <<less

What a colossal waste of time reading this story. This is a shining example of a story written by an author who was paid by the word. Extremely verbose — he can write several chapters just leading up to a fight, several more for the fight, then several more for the reactions afterwards — and these are LONG chapters.

The author repeats the same plot of the MC being looked down upon, a fight breaks out, and the MC defeats (but never kills) the bad guy. As another review mentioned, it... more>> seems the author censored all these fights probably for marketing purposes.

You should not waste your time with this novel like I did, even if you've ran out of good stuff to read. <<less

The world has been saved and the living beings continued to prosper.

The Great Ruler has surprisingly become one of my favorite novels despite its low ratings and while it is not perfect I've fallen for its charm.

The cultivation system is intriguing and for me, the story was not at all boring.

Certainly enjoyed this very much and this is highly recommended!

I think this is the best completed novel of the author to date. I liked btth but this novel was good except the powerups of MC is same as other novels of author. And even the ending is also rushed same as other novels of author but I liked how the other MC's of his novel also take a part in this novel with this MC.

[591] This is written by the author of Battle through the Heavens. In BTTH, initially the female characters would often been threatened with s*xual violence. This, thankfully, doesn't have that problem. [Though there is a trend towards that now (~500).]

In fact, other than mu*ders by the MC mentioned in flashbacks, the MC doesn't kill or maim too many. And in a way, that is a problem. Where other novels have a problem with trigger happy MC, this has a MC that often lets loose canons roll about.

As of now [590],... more>> there is a grand championship/tournament going on, and I am not happy with the authors inability to strategise, and ready to stop.

Will eventually continue, because, it is mostly non-offensive, and it has moments when it is interesting. But low priority. <<less

I'm not really great at writing reviews in fact I think this is the first time I've written one so I ask for forgiveness and understanding if what I say doesn't make sense or is irrelevant)).

I must say up to this point on my second time reading from the beginning last time I stopped when there where 300 or so chapters but it's just as good for me personally on the second time starting again and I will probably start from the beginning again when a few hundred more chapters... more>> are out one thing I will say is that this is very similar to btth however that's not really too surprising as they are a shared universe atleast according to the website and from what I've read so far the protagonist is likeable humorous and not overly op there are times at least to begin with where he isn't all powerful for instance when he gets chased by a large group of people he runs as he would be unable to slaughter them all as you so often see in other stories and when he encounters powerful magical beasts he didn't just go up and solo them he joined a huge expedition force to take them down for the rewards of course that's only in the beginning hundred or so chapters and I may be biased as I'm a huge fan of this novel <<less

This is one of the better ones out there. A must read for those who want non-harem cn novels.

I actually rate this 4.3 but well 4. The romance is pretty good, though ... more>>
Spoiler

for some reason author still finds a reason to separate them like every damn cn novel

[collapse]

MC has personality and romance is solid from even before the novel. Female heroine is loyal to MC, almost too loyal.

Also this novel is a sequel of WDQK & BTTH and ties the knots properly by the end.
Spoiler

And yes they all meet each other and their stories after their own books are told

All in all good read. Except for the academy arc which took way too long till it gets boring. Not much interesting things happening there.

Translator is a tad bit slow though (no offense). It would be a good idea to read mtl or study some chinese, which will help in the long run. <<less

This book is one of the best books I've ever read, sure at some point it got boring but if you just skip past it this is a amazing story, if you're like me and have read more than 30+ Xuanhuan, Xianxia, and Wuxian novels you can just automatically fill in the blanks of the missing plot holes. MC is smart and FL is really nice and not unnecessarily violent. 5/5 from me !

BTTH>TGR>WDQK

Putting aside the repetitive event that happen, this story is great. Better than WDQK while not as good as BTTH.

The earlier part is incredible, establishing the MC while keeping him a little bit mysterious.

... more>> The middle is pretty much a big filler to set you up for the later part. The saving grace for this filler arc however is the appearance of BTTH and WDQK's character which really spice thing up.

The later chapter is pretty good, but the hype is short live at how it's not a combine assault of the character of 3 novel together but instead the same old big gun holding the bad guy back while the MC turbo boost his cultivation to surpass the big gun and bad guy at the same time. <<less

Actual rating: 3.5

I guess this was a mix of all the good things in BTTH and WDQK in one book. It's definitely refreshing that the MC started out being outstanding but of course as he gets stronger, the more he becomes the underdog because of the people he's up against.

To be honest I read this to see how BTTH and WDQK would be continued and ... more>>
Spoiler

thank you so much for the bonus chapters at the end, giving us some closure of WDQK. I loved how Xiao Yan and Lin Dong still played a big role in this novel, despite no longer being the MC.

[collapse]

It might be a bit of a long and slightly slow read but I was never bored unlike in other novels when the MC powers up. People might complain that the Academy arc is too long but I think the length was necessary to let him grow. There weren't many fillers at all. <<less
