Barely readable

It it self deserve 2 star but the ballent rip off of wow and

Spoiler

MC needing flipping drink water when he has basically a body thats is half fire. And some how MC can still get burned by simple heat when he can flipping transform him self into a flaming giant?

[collapse]

The inconsistency is real in this one, the combat have nothing to do with how strong the characters are. The fights are determined by author who should win either through luck or other ridiculous reasoning.

Personally I feel like some several people are writing this novel as one moment MC is this and the other moment MC is that.

The story can basically summarised into

Because author want this scene it happens with random reason author put in while including spices which are basically praising how handsome MC is, how grand things are how scary things are how evil things are....

I heard that it gets better in later chapters butbi only notice that it keeps getting worse and worse...

Also, to some people who think this novel is similar to warlock in magus world...

Seriously the only similar thing I could find is that MC have a chip thats all...

Also MC in wmw try to rely less on the AI as he grows stronger but in this novel is the total opposite... <<less

I really liked the 1st arc, but I'm having a lot of trouble staying interested in the 2nd arc. There was a huge style/setting/character change, all of which for the worse. The story turns into a non-stop pointless action-fest, the MC is not particularly growing, and is in fact turning into a stereotypcial villain character, and the information about the setting/scenes get very repetitive, the same type of fight happens over a dozen times, for no particular reason.

Its good, way better than average, but not the best either. There are a lot of similarities to the Warlock of the Magus world especially in the beginning. But as the novel progresses, though, you will see that there are a lot of differences and they eventually become clear and distinctive.

Characters

-The MC is not cruel or completely pragmatic, as he cares a lot about the people close to him, but he is not naive and can be pretty cold-hearted and calculating when needed.

-All character have depth and not 1-dimensional, they... more>> also are used quite thoroughly. A lot of them will last at least 100 chapter and some times more. Those especial to the MC will remain in the story so far.

Plot

- It is pretty good, there is a reasonable amount of intrigue and the tension of conflicts is there

Setting

-Similar to WoWM but not identical <<less

Nothing deep, it's a light read. Expect fights, crafting, a bit of world building, and various forms of cultivation with some character development to spice things up occasionally.

Update from only reading 30 chapters: Can't say enough good things about this story.

If you are looking for a MC who is not OP, uses only magic (no cold weapons), and has to use his brains to survive, this is for you. Slower story, that is full of details, world settings, hidden agendas, fairly unique magic system, and a few other good things that make this more for a mature audience who know that the details make the same used plots exciting again.

Bio Chip is not OP. It more or... more>> less allows him to raise his normal talent up to the level of competing.

Action is unique, as MC is weak and relies on strategy, small tricks, and minions to survive long enough to get stronger.

Supporting cast are well defined, each having their own agendas, and have unique magic powers.

Lots of people point at WMW as similar, but this story has its own unique flair, and does not feel like reading WMW. WMW has more of an underlining of Xuanhuan, where as this has more of a western feel to it. <<less

Disappointing. Just feels like a really weak MC that gets led around by the nose from other side characters (women). I'm okay with a slow pace, but this is just far too slow.

It's a shame because I think the world building is quite good, but unfortunately, it's just not holding my interest very well.

**Edit: Ends abruptly, I no longer recommend to read it because of this.**

This is not a clone of WMW, they start with the same concept but rapidly diverge. MC focuses on establishing an organization and getting resources. The way he gets his trumph cards is gradual and not just lucky encounter (fights, risk and research). He is smart and knows when to fight and when to concede. My only complain is that side character development has been pretty bland so far.

At the begining I liked the story, while it was like WMW it was clearly a diferent story and different character and it was interesting enough and even thought it has flaws it is still better than most of the things I find. More importanly the Waifus were more important in the story than in WMW. Unfortunaly, the story has a lot's of flaws in the plot/characters/battle system consistence and pace management, it is pretty clear that the autor himself didn't know what he want's from the story contradicting what... more>> he is trying to draw from one chapter to the next and the power system is poor. So Pretty much the only good thing this story has over WMW is the importance in characters others than the MC and a little of comedy.

It took a while for Greem to even become a intermediate aprentice adept, but then he becames a actual pseudo-adept in a few chapters and then a actual adept. Sometimes it talks about adepts as cold aphatic things that only care about benefit and their life trying to make Greem like that, but then it puts greems as a caring master and friend that would throw benefits and any precaution just for impatience or others. Some limits of actions were told because energy levels but Greem fights go ways off the ranges. Some times it puts the chip as OP thing that could take control of Greem action in order to do flawest things and at the next chapter he is wasting ink because he fails over and over doing the perfect carving. Similar things like this happens all around the novels and this kind of cold logical people that are the adepts turns into loyal subjects in pretty much the next chapter. Also while the story gives gives a lot of importance to the waifus they sudenly vanish for no good reason either and in a single chapter.

There are several chapters full of narration trying to explain the world but without little thing actually happening and even less consistence and they are even some fillers chapter.

While I like story where characters take their time to develope this story fails to do it properly and the cultivation system is almost no existent. It took like 150 chapters for the MC to become a rank 1, but even 250 chapters later it looks like he isn't still ready to advance and there is no real progress in that. Greem became a elite adept pretty much as soon he became one somehow able to grade 2 enemies surrounded by enemies but he then fear and respect grade 2 like it was something he can't beat and even grade 1 creatures start to give him big trouble all of sudden, and grade 2 cores are used only to get elite grade 1 creatures. Still even as a elite adept, for some reason sudenly it say that he is actually just half of the way and after making his body all fire element he also need to make his spirit element which means he is not elite yet, but no progress for that, again for no good reason. The clan that was trying to rope Green and did much for him to the point to even paid him a adept tower for doing little thing just for the sake of keeping him close and got a big and important alliance with one of the most powerful clan, sudenly don't take the chance to keep roping him and act like they were preparing to leav him free even even thought he still have a 90 years contract with them <<less

This one had it's moments, but it couldn't surpass it's myriad of issues. Most notably, repetition.

The author really loved to repeat himself on a lot of things, saying the same thing in three different ways in a row. It wasn't interesting, it wasn't funny, and it wasn't worth my time. I ended up skimming a lot of the world building and characterizations because of it. Also, the multi-chapter fight depictions I could have done without, but someone else would disagree with me on that point, take from it what you... more>> will.

The authors strict adherence to a Grade system was eye rolling, especially when paired up with an obvious Dungeons and Dragons theme. I will say that the various nods to DnD, like Beholder, Mindflayer, and other creature references, was something that brought a smile to my face. They were peppered throughout the various volumes.

Lastly, towards the late hundred chapters I was reading the MC would make extremely questionable calls, like sending an ally to the one person they shouldn't go anywhere near, or roaming around enemy territory with zero defenses up. The guy was noted to be level headed, and a keen strategist but made blunders for the sake of plot (that's contrived and I deduct points for it). It also just got too much for me with the gratuitous slaughter of innocents.

It wasn't all bad, no I wouldn't read over 600 chapters just to confirm how bad it was. These were just a few of the issues I had with it as I read. After a while it did get to be too much for me and I had to drop it. However, the role of a lawful evil/neutral MC, while not really original, was interesting to read for a long while. Lack of a overtly sexualized loli while still having a single token loli as a solid supporting character was nice for a change. She also had the biggest character change/growth, both literally and figuratively. Finally, the MC was in that nice medium between not so dense he had his own gravity well, while also not being so open to bang everything with two legs and bewbs. In fact; I think he only has relations with two women with a possible third down the road, so Harem confirmed sadly but tastefully done at least.

If you're looking for a change of pace from the regular OP sh*t stomping MC with a heart of gold, then give this one a go. Just be prepared to read the same descriptions a few times in a row. Also, when the author does a time skip of 70 years, just know that things get a bit warped and it might be time to bail. <<less

It's ok. It copies WMW pretty hard as everyone state but also does thing in its own way on some parts. It has lot of good of concept but really lacking in execution. The worst part is how much useless fluff there are. I think its become fairly obvious when author is out of ideas because there are chapters that you can skip and somehow not miss a thing.

The problem is that its not even good fluff, its a ton of action scene after action scene that really kills your... more>> urge to real the story because literally nothing progresses during the battles. Everything happens outside the battles which are good but there so many battles crammed in it really kill the pacing. <<less

A good surprise, as the beginning seemed bad. I recommend it!

Pro

    • MC is really changing over the time. He has a good personality, and knows when to stay low and plan, using his chip. Also, it's always refreshing to discover Chinese characters not being gigantic cold edgelords.
    • Few antagonists, but with personality, way better than the the usual metric tons of arrogant young masters. All of them are interesting in their own way.
    • The world makes sense as a western style cultivation story (with magic replacing the dao basically).
Con

    • All the game like numbers take a long time to be used too, and it almost made me drop the story when reading about it for the first time. There is even HP, kinda ridiculous IMO. The problem is that everyone aside from the MC knows the numbers too, which is weird.
    • ret*rded human resources management: way too much deaths in the apprentice adepts ranks to have a really strong organization. They basically shoot themselves on the foot with their horrendous death toll.

This was good, then it feels like the author realized he was only half done and was bored and wanted to do something new. The book just ends completely forced almost like an april fools prank you see some translators do sometimes but instead its real.

It gets incredibly rare these days in CN where MC doesn't just beat everybody with his cheats, so that is fairly refreshing. People saying "where's your backbone" or "MC is too weak", well I find those attributes good for the story. It adds a sense of dread and accomplishment when MC finally fulfill his goal, and not just story of arrogance and picking on the weak. Character flaws are good for a story, and same with character developments, which seem to be severely missing in Chinese novels these days.

However, the... more>> story is filled with irrelevant and redundant information that seem to exist just so author can word pads. I'd give it overall 4/5 <<less

This, Warlock of the Magus World, and The Wizard World basically has the same premise and ideas. Yet for me this is a fresh start and a new view by the author. Personally I like this story better. The MC is not as crazy and still human. He is humble (at least until now) in the way that he isn't too arrogant to his underlings. Yet there are a lot (I mean really a lot) of explanation in almost every chapter... Try it!

After 312 chapter I really love this... more>> even now I feel bored waiting the when the next chapter will be published. Meanwhile, I try many novels after this but nothing that seems can satisfy me. <<less

Sad. Too much potential wasted. The MC spent 70% of the novel trapped in Maysa's plots making everything very boring, so when she disappeared and the story started to improve she appears again defeating him in the dumbest way possible and the end of the novel. Ridiculous.

Great World-Building, Excellent Characters (MC, FL's), Fantastic Romance with the most shitty ending ever seen in a novel! All of the good feelings evaporated the moment I read the last chapter and I read 800+ chapters! Like wtf! If you don't want to continue, just drop it, that's thousand times better than this piece of garbage shoved into our throat.

Not into the whole femdom thing. It was funny at first but all of the female MCs just smack the MC around & it's really pitiful. Others might stick around for the story but from what I read it just seems like the MC is just going to be a ragdoll for femdoms.

f*cking solid, it is a bit slow at first but the pace picks up. Warlock of the Magus World is better than this? Nah, even though I read thay first and I loved it as one of the best novels I found here. There are some inconsistency here and there especially in the first few chapters, but the way the author everything is the reason this is great.

ATTENTION: The novel is incomplete.

In general it is quite good.

Bad points:
- The pace of the MC is very slow.

- I always feel that it leaves many flags of self-destruction.

- The chip is practically mentioned occasionally.

- The MC lacks IQ, it is not s*upid, but something is missing.

So the story is okay so far. There's a couple of dumb mistake he make but nothing that really get me until chapter 132. Basically he rob a bunch of "monster" and inderctly got other kill because of it and he has no remorse or anything along those line. He now just become a greedy scum that doesn't care for anything but himself to me. Hopefully it a one time thing but like they say if it happen once it's going to happen again. I'm going to read a bit... more>> more but if he truly become a s*upid greedy scum that doesn't think of the consequences involving other just for his benifit I'm going to drop this novel. I don't see the point of being strong if you give up your conscious for it but again it my personal believe so some people might not care about that. <<less
