This novel is quite good.

Pros:

  • MC is intelligent, decisive and scheming.
  • Harem
  • Short Novel
  • Funny
Cons:

  • Ending didn't have any mention about some the MC's allies like Warrior, Elves, Mermaid Queen etc.
  • Cat (Roa) dialogues are not clear in the initial story which only MC understand
  • The Merchant Companies' fate was not mentioned in the 20 years span in epilogue
  • Girl Hero's father's fate is unknown and the Girl Hero was bit annoying, Good job for the MC to manipulate her into his bidding (lol)

At first I read this novel because the info seems nice and it has romance, but no harem.

But the more I read, the worse it became. And when I realized what bullsh*t was going on, a harem tag was added.

I see harem, I dislike.

... more>> Dont misunderstand that I have prejudice about harem (i just came across too many shitty novels with harem tag in them), it just that the story really went downhill fast, its really empty.

I don't mind a well-built harem, but this sh*t is a typical cardboard harem with dumb b*tches falling for MC without reasons, or even if there is, the s*upidity is over 9000.

The protagonist was cool, that was my 1st impression on him, but wtf he gets swayed by such nonsences, when you think he'd be rational enough. <<less

Toika is my favorite Novelist, he has a way with words and great ideas, some people may think that his MC's Harem is just there to tell you how good the MC is, which can get annoying but the MCs in his works either don't care, s*upid (like low IQ at the start), or just don't know what love is due to being alone (mostly) for 1000 years. The MC's fanclub praising them makes some sense, Who wouldn't love a strongest human who is a handsome young man? (Even though... more>> the author say "no harem this time", the fans make the minor things of the story from what I know, like the Harem). Given the Author know "oh they will want a Harem this time". <<less

i thought the whole 'demon reborn as one of the heroes' thing could be really interesting. It was a good idea but not so good on the actual execution of it. The MC is a typical old cultivator/mage/ powerful-whatever in a kids body instead of the more interesting 'demon trying to live as human for the first time' which was disappointing.

aside from the wise and all-knowing MC, the lead female, aka original hero, is vapid and downright s*upid (MC's words not mine), and none of the other characters are interesting.... more>> The bickering and comedy gets old pretty fast.

I read until chapter 50 in the hopes that it might get better because here and there were some really good paragraphs and even pages, in between all the brainless cat-fighting and continuous ego-stroking and bad villein-of-the-arc dialogue. Sadly, those few good parts just aren't enough to make up for wading through all the crap to find them. <<less

I really like the story, especially our protagonist Artpe. He just wanted to retire and be a dairy farmer but was killed by one of the hero's party member. He reincarnated to the past as the hero's childhood friend, and because he didn't want to be involved with the future shenanigans, he pretended to be Villager A. Sadly, he becomes a hero with the previous hero. The journey was great and all.

The novel itself is okay, the story is about a demon reincarnated into a hero/hero companion.

My biggest problem with this story is the endless annoying dialogue, not only from the main characters but even more so from the enemies.

Every enemy mob is a collection of chatterboxes, constantly spewing lines like "The bastard isn't trying to kill us! He is just trying to inflict pain! The bastard is not a hero! He is the devil!" and "These bastards don't have the right to take the test. We'll kill you! We'll destroy... more>> you!"

Please, for the love of god, you guys are skeletons and zombies, why are you constantly talking tr*sh? The heroes aren't very good either, they constantly tsukkomi and aren't funny. Kinda feels like a less mature version of Returnee. It gets a bit better as it goes along and the story is interesting enough, so I rate it as average. <<less

It's a work of Toika's, so I have really high expectations for it. And as of now, it surely is meeting, if not, exceeding my expectations.

First of all, I thought this novel had no romance in it considering there's no tag stating that there is romance, turns out I was wrong. It even seems like the plot will rely heavily in the romance seeing as though the heroine's highly influenced by it.

The characters here are also quite fun and entertaining (I liked the merchant), I just hope that this novel... more>> will maintain that fact, would be nice if the newer characters aren't made only to place the MC on a pedestal.

The MC and the Heroine's personality is quite entertaining too, especially the Heroine, I'm just hoping that this fact will remain consistent, like some novel's protagonists' personalities change and bend for the plot. It loses its own uniqueness.

I'm really liking it so far, so for now, I'd rate it a 5/5. <<less

I hope no one judges me too harshly for writing a review before I even started actually reading this but as soon as I saw that it was written by Toy Car I had no choice but to give it 5 stars to up the rating, if this book is even half as good as his other ones then I expect great things I'll update this as I get further in.

(Update chapter 30) Very funny so far and love the MC

I would normally want to read further before giving a review, but judging by how the author has already jumped head first into the plot without even trying to establish the characters or the world I have a strong feeling this is how the novel will continue.

In essence it's just an astoundingly poor attempt at making a classic "cunning and ruthless MC". The cunning part is really easy, just give him the unique skill of litterally knowing everything (???) and just to be sure make everyone else incapable of coherent... more>> thoughts. The perfect example of this is the female MC hero he drags along with him. First of all the plot dumps the MC straight into the role of her childhood friend after reincarnating and she is already hopelessly in love with him, no actual childhood or establishment needed here clearly. In all the following chapters half of what she has said was along the lines of "i don't understand but yes!" and the other half is "MC you are so incredible".

These interactions are also exactly what completely cripples the world building since the MC already knows everything he needs and can therefore not learn anything along the way for the benefit of the reader. Adding on to that he only explains the bare minimum of world building to the female MC (that in fact knows nothing) before it's swept under the rug with the excuse that she can't understand any complicated explanations.

Go on then to make a speedrun plan to groom her into a hero strong enough to kill the demon lord with his infinite knowledge and "Hero" class with accelerated growth and ability to kill higher level monsters. So far so good but then they IMMEDIATELY fall into using a nonsense loop hole of aggro range to kill an even higher level monster..? Just, why???? There is just no satisfaction at all to be found from them using additional loop holes in a power system that is already poorly defined when they are already apparently insanely over powered???????

TLDR: Characters are the worst, world building is a mess, plot is a speed run guide for a game we have no reason to care about. The fact that this is rated above 4 stars makes me seriously doubt the integrity of this websites ratings. <<less

Campy and fun

Very standard Toika novel with all the good and bad. Harem is done well even if I preferred the fMC. Fighting is very entertaining. Endings wasnt great.

Overall a very standard experience from the author. Worth the read for a fun time.

My experiences and Toila

So I actually managed to go most of this novel without knowing the author. At ch161 I wanted to check how much of the story is left. Then I saw the author as said audibly "God dammit the final enemy is God". I then skipped the next 40 chapters till epilogue and missed nothing.

He really doesn't change his formula huh.

I'm pretty sure I read this before, but I didn't remember it very well, so I started over again. This second round has been a bit of a slog. There are some interesting things going on, but it feels very repetitive.

I steadily felt more resistance to reading further until I decided to drop it and read a different novel about people using their past experiences of present times to become powerful.

Disappointed with this one. It started out pretty good, but got more and more generic as the story progressed. The way it tries to be deep is somehow very predictable, and it makes the story even lamer. Too many overused cliches and plot development. People reading this type of story for the first time might find it good though. I don't even know what more to write because this is so bland.

Good enough to read through twice in my opinion (in fact that is exactly what I did). Its not like it does anything in particular different from any other time regression novel, but it is a little unique in the premise, and does all the same stuff well. Overall a fun read.

I would recommend to give the story a chance as it is well written and the story itself is simple but good. The romance between the MC and FMC is sweet and kind of to much as the FMC is too clingy and gets jealous easily. And unlike most of other korean novels where the authors mess up the ends this one isn't like it as the end wraps up the story really nicelly.

I Overall this is slightly below average. If you've liked EER then this sh*t isn't for you. MC is op? Yes, most of the time but he relies on his party members which is really annoying. Tbh I just find it pure bs the female knight suddenly fell inlove with the "crown prince" and the crown prince that killed him in his past life is suddenly his "best bud" and yes it's annoying that the motherf*cking crownprince takes the spotlight of killing the demon king. Not satisfied with the ending 20 chapters, cramped in too much in there and we didn't even get any fan service for the girls. (Im not talking about the 18+ stuff). 2.5/5 at most, since we didn't even get a good look on what happened after everything, timeskip 20 years, oh! They have kids! Great! That's all we know! Really satisfying ending! (Totally not sarcastic) I f*cking wasted my time on this hoping we atleast get a satisfying ending. Don't trust the tags, theres little to none romance, way too many sh*t left uncovered. Im genuinely pissed and disappointed. No! Actually Im just pissed that we didn't get any fan service! (Actual romance)

Just finished this sucker and I gotta say, it's pretty good.

Overall, Toy car is a solid author, he has a tendancy to use a lot of the same tropes and concepts, but the characters this time were fairly compelling. If you liked other stuff by him you'll like this.

There was of course some gramatical issues with the translation (nobody's perfect), but I never came across anything that prevented me from understanding.

The MCs growth is also a lot more interesting than I had expected it would be. Due to the nature... more>> of a "hero party" that was used during this story, the MC not only had to grow stronger, but grow stronger along side others - very different from the usual lone wolf that you see in stories like this. It makes for some fun development between characters.

Yeah, the novel is harem, and it doesn't waste much time in letting you know it is. If you don't like harem, keep walking, this isn't a story for you. The female characters are all yanderes or near yandere and obsess over the MC like nobody's business. You have been warned.

The ending was good and satisfying, the epilogue helped a lot and it didn't have the s*upidly abrupt ending like Stop, friendly fire! If you stuck with the story that long, odds are that you won't be disappointed. <<less

This can't be less than a 4. Haven't read for a while, but world building is solid, side characters are great, plot is strong, personally I really enjoyed it, there is enough mystery in it that you don't really know what about to happen.

MC is great, the Love interest is too. Personally not a fan of Harem, imho this could be a 5-star if it was a little more sincere because the concept is that great, but ultimately it is more of a comedy than a drama. There are great... more>> little plot twists that make 100% sense in hindsight.

Pros: Loveable cast, strong plot that has both consistency and unpredictability, which is a rare combo. Love how the MC metagames a fair bit, and it is actually completely neccesary

Cons: The plot/arcs get very repetitive, which makes reading pretty boring. I am not exactly sure what the solution to this is, but perhaps the cause of this is that the villains themselves lack depth. In fact I would say that is a main weakness of this and EER. Also Not a fan of Harems that occur spontaneously. In EER there was a fair bit of development which went into it, so it doesn't just come out of nowhere, but here its kinda more a harem for comedy. The ending had a lot that I admire about it, but probably because the villains are meh there doesn't seem to much sense of danger for the Main Characters <<less

This story is really mediocre compared to other works done by the author.
I had a hard time reading it.
Spoiler

The prologue doesn't really make much sense, the female knight who was in love with our MC marries the thief. And Sheryll (The merfolk queen) isn't mentioned at the final.
