Huh... well, I was trying to give this novel 3 stars; 2 stars for not being complete tr*sh and another out of consideration that I have something against the genre in general, but... guess this is what I get for typing this on mobile...

To summarize my thoughts on the story, I'm mostly disappointed because the execution of the concept was way different from what I expected.

What I expected: The main character having to readapt to life in the modern world while teaching other people cultivation as he too goes on... more>> a slow grind to become the immortal he used to be.

What I got: Literally just a xianxia set in the modern world

Actually, saying it's "set" in the modern world is a tad generous because it hardly touches on modern day trials. The MC simply moved from a world where power means everything to...a world where power means everything. I mean character reactions indicate that's not how it should be, but the MC is free to act as violent as he wants and never suffers any comeuppance for it. :/

My first problem with the story is the MC. Well, no, the MC himself is written competently. My problem is with how the author treats him.

The MC is the excessively arrogant sort that wouldn't hesitate to kill you where you stand if you make him lose face. Completely justified considering the values of the world he had been in for millenia. Completely justified... but it's still wrong! And the author never addresses it as so.

When I first saw the MC putting on the "This Deity" schtick, I thought it was supposed to be humorous. "Look at our MC! He's such a fish out of water." No, the narrative completely paints him in the right. This is how he'll be from beginning to end, and it's everybody else who has to learn to deal with it. What?

My other problem is the characters or the lack thereof. As of the current chapter, Jiang Xiu is the only character.

No wait... *flips through the chapters to see the long list of named characters*

Excuse me, let me correct myself. As of the current chapter, Jiang Xiu is the only character that matters. Every other character doesn't have a single line of dialogue or motivation that doesn't revolve around him.

Ye Bing? Doesn't want to be misunderstood as Jiang Xiu's girlfriend.

Cheng Lingsu? Wants to break off her engagement with Jiang Xiu.

Ye Wenchen? Wants to beat up Jiang Xiu.

etc. etc. etc.

Don't these people have their own lives? Since there's nobody as important as the protag he has nobody to bounce off of. Nobody to rival him in either power or philosophy, no modern-day counterpart, squat.

Not like anybody really could rival the MC. Contrary to my expectations it doesn't really take long for him to get as strong as he needs to be. In like a night of training, he gets as strong as elders who've been cultivating for years. What was the point of powering him down in the first place then? Meh, really makes me feel apathetic knowing that any "conflict" the MC faces exists solely in the imaginations of the peanut gallery. Meh... <<less

This series can basically be summed up with three phrases:
1) Everyone's an idiot, especially the MC.
2) Absolutely no one can see Mt. Tai
3) No one ever talks to anyone else about critical topics until it's far too late, common sense and realism be damned, or if they do, they're never believed.

These three make up roughly 80-90% of the content of the series. Toss in some love geometry, sexism and other forms of bigotry, and that's pretty much the whole thing. It's cliche. It's generic. It's even more... more>> repetitive than LoHP. Honestly, there are far better series out there and I simply can't recommend this one. <<less

Although the plot is weird at first and the title is misleading, but as you move on, it makes more sense. No doubt the MC is arrogant and ignorant though.

the story is evolving around the MC and the two sisters, one uses him while the other one helps him. Honestly, a lot of stuffs didn't make sense at all until close to the end. In the beginning, I thought it's just like the title, it'll be a harem novel like many of those modern days cultivation setting, but it's not. And truthfully, the title didn't make any sense at all until the very end of the novel. I have to say, it has a good and touching romance. That is, if you can actually get to the end.

P.S I was going to give this a two star review if I didn't read to the very end.

P.S.S the girl lead is more op than him and it was heart breaking about what she did for him

WTF is what I would say.
Spoiler

First of all he can send sound transmission to the immortal world but not explaining the world structure at all and when how or why is he able to communicate with his useless disciple with so little magic or whatever the energy or cultivation, he should not do that at the start of story because he is in a weak state. Second of all why is he on prestigious school with his awful academic performance and family background. Third he know that he is not that sect master anymore and now he is not strong but still so arrogant like he announce all of you are beneath me. Why not just lay low for a day to month to adjust and calm himself for the world he would face. Fourth why is the writer force every to look down on him every occasion but the MC not doing anything as arrogant as he is, doesn't make any sense at all. Fifth why is he provoke every he can? Is the writer try too hard to show him off in the first few chapter or this will be super fast pace story? Sixth MC said he could make as much as the money anytime he want but still broke not to mention his parent, does he have no filial piety at all? He is Chinese you know, and why wont he visit the first thing he do. In his past his father and mother died. Don't he miss them at all? The more I read the more I am confuse.

All in all another doom to fail modern cultivation world.

It has a pretty good plot but the author is terrible, it's just the run of the mill humiliate MC. MC will let them humiliate him silently for the whole chapter before showing some bad ass response the next chapter, basically making you sit through entire chapters of rage inducing rubbish.

Spoiler

In a later chapter the MC watches as his mum gets humiliated by the landowner because they have no money when he is said to have a million dollars in his pocket as well as 70% shares in a multi billion dollar company, at the end of the chapter the mom starts bending her knees to kneel and you just know when the chapter ends on that, that at the start of the next chapter the MC will stop her midway through her bending the knee to show them all up. Why the f*ck wait until your mum is completely distressed and about to kneel before you step in to be a bad ass?

[collapse]

Also throughout the novel if you pay attention, you can really notice how unfilial the bastard is despite him saying how much he missed his parents when he was an immortal deity. To be honest he does seem to become very filial later on in the novel, but in a really annoying way? Since he seems to completely disregard what he wants so he can just go along with what his mother naively wants. I mean he could just lay it out straight to her the reasons why he doesn't want to do something, but no lets just keep it all secret and torture ourselves shall we?

The Mother becomes annoying in some later chapters with how pushy she is, even though she is doing it with good intentions, she is still being really bull headed and naive.

Spoiler

MC who is just a hairs distance from becoming a god, actually succumbs to an aphrodisiac that was administered to him with the assumption that he was a normal person. He does not show any kind of resistance or immunity to it at all. And he just seems plain s*upid for falling for it in the first place. Obviously the author got lazy and decided to force the harem route on the MC this way.

[collapse]

Also it's so annoying how even 268 chapters in they still have not explained why he was in that girls bed in chapter 1, the girl also seems to have been forgotten. <<less

Misleading Title

Spoiler

With title like "Girl, I'll teach you Cultivation" I was expecting a harem or romance, but it's not. The MC doesn't even care about a girl or anyone else. The novel is just about the MC showing off and killing arrogant character. I only recommend reading this if you want to read about arrogant MC showing off his arrogance and don't if you want to read about harem or romance.

I only enjoy it for about the first 100 chapter or so. Because the early chapter is about the MC showing off and it's funny but after that the MC just became a mass mu*derer.

Dropped.

Do yourself a favor and take the reviews seriously. This is not a fun comedy. The first few chapters get some truly good jokes in at the MC’s expense and then... the MC gets his power back & just goes around beating up teachers and other authority figures in some kind of self-righteous chuuni fap dream.

Don’t like getting called out for turning in a blank English test? Use your powers to cheat and then beat the crap out of your teacher while the whole class watches.

Don’t like being expected to... more>> cheer for your classmates at a school sporting event? Obnoxiously rant about how your school is going to lose, then go beat the crap out of the rival team because lulz you can lulz.

Fiancee want to dump you because it’s a s*upid arranged marriage your fathers agreed on, and she’s in love with another guy? Troll that bit*h hard. Tell her you’ll dissolve the contract if she does your dirty laundry and then - PSYCH - laugh at her when she sincerely follows through.

School expell you for s*xual harassment and multiple assaults? TOTALLY NOT FAIR~

This MC is an unlikable psycho and I suspect the ‘plot’ is an embarrassing glimpse into the author’s unresolved teenage trauma. Hard pass, skip, I don’t even care if the ending is “worth it” or “pays off.” Ain’t nobody got time to waste reading 800 chapters to get there. <<less

I just can't read it anymore... The MC is an overly arrogant one, who only cares about face, and women...

Spoiler

I mean, early in the novel, he cut the hand of an old man, because that old man thought he wasn't strong enough to help... So by trying not to implicate the MC in something quite dangerous, he gets his hand cut.

Later MC asks him to buy an entire street worth 200m RMB, and it was done simply because Old Tang had to give him face

MC gets stepped on at every corner, only to react exaggeratedly 2-3 chapters later

[collapse]

Basically, the author is making sure that the MC is looked down upon by everyone, but also treated as tr*sh so that he can "righteously" slap everyone's face.

Better read Returning from the Immortal World, the quality and plot is much better. <<less

Can't stomach it any farther, it was rough the last 60+ chapters and it's only getting worse. I was seeing red flags early into the translation but it only gets worse and not better...

If you can somehow kill your sense of morals and ethics enough to enjoy the MC in spite of his actions and deal with the unrealistic plot armor and somewhat lacking plot|intelligence of the world then it's not a bad novel. There's plenty of action and some interesting twists, especially if you enjoy an overpowered MC. The... more>> author's writing skill or maybe instead, the translators' writing skill really isn't bad. However, the before mentioned issues are both pungent, repetitive and only worsen over time... For that reason, I can not and will not ever recommend reading this novel.

It's like taking the 5-year-old neighborhood bully, giving him 3000 years of experience (in which he learns nothing except how to bully better) as well as overwhelming power while removing his ability to ever move from or alternate his original 5-year-old tendencies. Then allowing him to start his life over from the beginning so he can bully as many people as possible for whatever reason|scheme. All the while, trying to excuse it by dropping random weak "mini bullies" to get on the MC's blacklist... All while trampling over potentially innocent lives in the process (on both sides by both parties). <<less

I am not sure how to describe this novel. 1 thing is for sure, it's definitely not boring. There is a lot of comedy in it. Just that when you read the novel, don't expect logic or common sense to back it up. It's hilarious, but is better if you do not think too hard about the things he do. Is full of plotholes in the story, but who cares as long it's funny. It has that kind of feel to it.

MC is also a little idiotic, lack maturity and... more>> his brain is somewhat slow when it comes to adapting to situations. He keep thinking he is that all powerful being from before (return back to his own world from the cultivation world) and just always hang on to that. His arrogance is really beyond the level of crazy and he has a superior complex. Plus he is a narcissist that keep calling himself the great Deity and get into his bad moods more quickly than any teenagers in their puberty.

The story is fun and all, but MC personality ruin it somewhat. Definitely a novel for those who like everyday life comedy and not for those who is into serious story building.

But there is still some similar boring and dull stuff like all the other chinese novels :

  • another story how he would his parents proud because they are poor and living in hardship
  • everyone has to see how awesome and great the MC is. Always spectators around that comment how rash and foolish the MC is until he show his abilities and put them into shock
  • another of the so called marriage contract and looking down on his family
  • young masters and misses coming out of nowhere and brag how great their parents are and that anyone who dare goes against them is dead.
I take back what I said. Read all the way to chapter 200. Most of the comedy is gone. Instead we get really boring chapters about him getting revenge on those that harm his family and all that family drama. Is very unnecessary. MC always has to make a big show of it and make stuff so complicated. Is almost like a soap opera. His parents has a thick plotarmor and will never get injure no matter how much people he piss off. Also the MC personality is weird. He is always so tough in his action, but the moment his parents are involve he turn into a kitten. No matter how much he doesn't like it, he only nod and say yes toward them. For example there is this 1 girl he doesn't like and hated to the bone for destroying his life, but just because his mother like her he can't cancel the marriage contract. What the hell is that? Just tell his parents how he feel and be done with it. <<less

Sect master from the cultivation world makes it back to earth, its done fairly well but there are two critiques I have,

  1. The MC is ridiculously cruel sometimes, this isn't enough to ruin the story for me but sometimes it just makes you stop a take a second look because you have to ask "he killed him for what? Literally nothing? Okay.."
  2. The story jumps around a bit, this can be good at times because pacing isn't bogged down but at other times its hard to adjust jumping from point to point without the best transitions

All I can honestly say is that this was an excellent novel. Though, in the beginning, you might think this title is misleading, towards the end of the story it becomes much more clearer. I can honestly say I enjoyed this story very much, and that I recommend for all those who read to not give up on it until the very end when it's complete and when the full translations come out. Although that'll probably be in 1-3 years, I still recommend it.

Honestly, I would give this novel 2/5 if I was pitching it to a friend. That equates to about 4.5 stars for the reviews on NU. This novel knows it’s goals and sets out to accomplish them. It reminds me of Library of Heaven’s Path. While both are by no means deep and meaningful, romantic and captivating, or unique and memorable, I can’t think of a single novel on this site that is. The only novel worth reading is invisible dragon, but only if you’ve read a bunch of xuanhaun... more>> or cultivation based novels. Perhaps the Grandmaster Strategist, but that’s a complicated topic.

I digress, this novel is meant to be over the top without a Mary Sue MC. If the MC was a nice, respectable young man who had to deal with bullies after being one of the strongest beings in exisistance, this novel would suck. I was genuinely impressed with the first 30 chapters, however the translation is quite a bit worse than Wuxiaworld or cktalon standards. I don’t mean any disrespect as Chinese and English are two very different languages, unlike Spanish and English or French and English.

I have purposely been vague about the novel so far so as not to spoil anything. Read Library of Heaven’s Path first, then come over here. Cheers to these 30 chapters and cheers to 30 more. <<less

Honestly, I love the idea of a cultivator in a modern setting, I have read every one of these I could get my hands on, this has to be my least favorite.

The main character is too inconsistent and hypocritical, close to the start someone slightly offends him by underestimating him despite having good intentions (having a bodyguard prevent MC from joining the fight so he doesn't get hurt). What does our MC do? Has the guy amputate his arm.

At school, his classmates look down on him, they scold him out... more>> of nowhere and give him a hard time. What does our MC do? Jack Shit.

He lets them make disparaging remarks and insults without retaliating at all, like he's above all of it and doesn't have the time to care for it. Okay, that's fine as a character trait, you can be zen and not care, but you can't also jump to body mutilation when someone else slightly offends your pride, that doesn't make sense.

After a while, I realized that I just didn't want the MC to succeed anymore. He's in love with a woman but doesn't want to get together with her because he's afraid she will get hurt either physically or emotionally that he's involved with organized crime. This is an absolutely s*upid situation as he never once actually HAD to get into organized crime, he did it fully on his own initiative so he could have pride and money. He knew he wanted to be together with her in the first place, so why did he purposely jump onto a path that would prevent him from being with her? It's an entirely artificial problem, pure s*upid.

There's one point where people put financial pressure on him, part of his retaliation is literally mu*dering a small child in front of the kid's family. The kid did nothing wrong, he was just someone that was present and had likely not even heard of the dispute, but the MC did it to make a point that the family shouldn't mess with him. It was at this point I realized the MC is not the hero, he's not an average joe, he is the villain of the story. He makes a point of being intelligent and wise, but he damages himself by indulging in greed and vanity, he mu*ders and steals to satisfy his desires but attempts to keeps the air of righteousness in the process.

I despise this man, he has all the power in the world and can easily rise above petty squabbles, but he chooses to embrace the conflict and create chaos for arbitrary reasons. <<less

As others have stated the MC is overly arrogant and never does anything "low-key" I was actually still enjoying this until recently where we seem to be in some redemption arc for a character that is just annoying.

MC despite being capable, whenever his mother brings up an issue immediately goes along like a child despite having evidence that would make the mother change her mind.

Will likely drop this novel.
Have dropped this novel, my suggestion if you do read is to stop at chapter 94 and treat it as abandoned.

The story started out great for the first 120 or so chapters then it starts falling off bit by bit like the author is just pulling ideas out of his hat.

Your typical story of a modern guy who experiences a harsh life, but then he preserveres becoming a cultivator and lives thousands of years, but is then transported back to before his harsh life begins, letting him change his past fate into a new and better one.

It's great and all if you are into this type of genre, but in... more>> the recent chapters around 214 the story has been getting a bit muddy. The main story is still exiting and draws you in, but oddly enough there is this weird rotation of 2 chapters being about the main story and the mood is all serious then another 3 chapters afterwards of a side storyish type where the mood is light and has a completely different atmosphere than the main one like the main story atmosphere doesn't even exist. It's switching back and forth and the side stories do not correlate well with the main one making you yell inside your head, "WTF is the author even doing!?"

if I had any comparison of what is currently happening then I would say that the current location of where I am is like Bleach after the whole saving Orihime arc where the story just keeps getting weird and you are kind of there just to get to the ending because you have already gone too far to turn back. <<less

Nice story to read. OP MC that reincarnated (?) in an cultivator world finds himself back in his original world (modern day) and years before his reincarnation happened.

He had been living for 3000 years as one of the top immortals sect head thing. So his mind set on how he treats people.

If you don't read the first 50 ch. You'll find some plot holes, those are explained along the way. (Such as the reason why he's in a top notch High School).

I can't say I absolutely hate or like this novel. It's pretty funny at some points and pretty generic and boring in some other parts.

Spoiler

I cannot understand the MC's obsession with the generic bit*h women. You'd think after hundreds of years of cultivation in another world he wouldn't give a damn about some insignificant women that talks bigger then she actually is. This Novel would be better if the MC just solves the problem quickly with that b*tch.
