Skyfire Avenue is a street that is 2048 meters long. There are 168 stores here, and each of the store owners is an extremely powerful adept. The Avenue does not permit any vehicles or any robots to pass through it, much less mecha. Even the patrolling police must move about on foot. This is because this is a street for pedestrians, a lane for nobles, hidden away within this high technology world. Lan Jue, the greatest of the mercenaries, code-named ‘Zeus’, has secluded himself here in Skyfire Avenue after the death of his wife. The name of his shop is “Zeus’ Jewelry Store”, and here in Skyfire Avenue, he has been given the title, Jewel Master.

Worst novel out of all the novels by TJSS. The starting is too damn slow with useless info dump on luxurious wines and cuisines, but the worst part of this story is the the non existent plot progression upto chapter 400. Not to mention too many retcons. The MC appears OP for the first 100 chapters but then ends up on a losing streak with occasional wins here and there against some fodders and against some contemporaries with some luck. Everyone around MC keeps on getting stronger but the MC... more>> seems to have no motivation to do so until the very end of this novel. His cultivation improves by just one level of a stage in two hundred chapters, but then due to the s*upid plot twist by the author to milk the series, it drops to the first level of that stage for the next two hundred chapters. The MC is able to use his full powers only in the presence of his FORCED girlfriend who he r*pes at the beginning. It gets pretty lame post chapter 336 when that s*upid twist happens. The MCs cultivation is so damn slow that even his girlfriend who starts from Zero catches up to him in no time. He just keeps reminding himself that he needs to get stronger but never puts in the efforts. He doesn't even have the motivation despite all the responsibilities that are forced upon him throughout the series. All in all it gets quite frustrating when the plot gets quite stagnant at that point due to this unneeded twist. Sigh <<less

Skyfire avenue isn't that great book. If you are bored then you can read if for time pass.

It is full of comedy, good brotherhood, full of romance and overall good plot.

The thing I hated most about this book is MC' nature. He is such a pushover. I mean MC is being manipulated his all life, his every decision was made for him. For gods sake his both gf were planted in his life to keep an eye on him. It doesn't matter they love him or not his first gf... more>> didn't even tell him and agreed to their marriage. And when he finally found out the truth he just shrug it off!!! Like it doesn't matter. The clairvoyant bastard manipulated him for a long time and he didn't care in the least and forget about it. I was so angry on this that I decided to drop this book <<less

Good story, good way of writing. The only downside is some of the chapters are written too detailed. Unnecessary especially when the event is not notable. Maybe it is just me or maybe not but I only remember the part of the story when it is exciting. There is a part on this novel where the author defines the most minute detail then the most significant thing that happens after is the MC walks in and do something worth noting.

Overall; I recommend this if you are into sold novels or... more>> novels you mostly seen on libraries. Good plot and written semi-formally. Just skip the definition of insignificant details in the story and you're all good.

keklel I will answer your question; that's just because you didn't read anything at all. You forgot to delete the status of 1st chapter you are in when you wrote your review. <<less

I'll be honest here. I came across this novel while I had nothing much else other than wait for others updates. The mecha and sci-fi in tags and few negative reviews threw me off a little too. For the first 10-15 chapters I was at a loss to even know what's going on thinking maybe I should move on, but somehow I persisted. Takes a couple of chapters to get used to. And then slowly it starts growing on you to the point that you don't wanna put it down.... more>> The rapport between characters are well written. You've an MC who's OP & flawed (when it comes to romance). And the story feels like going through a sci-fi transformer movie at times. Nonetheless it's a good-read. <<less

While this novel may not have had the best start, what with the lengthy exposition and information, kidnapping and accidental r*pe, it more than makes up for it. There's plenty of suspense and mysteries that keep the story interesting, enticing readers to wait and find out more about the story and its context.
Spoiler

One such mystery is Lan Jue's wife, Hera, and Zhou Qianlin her supposed little sister. In the earlier portions, the story gives out ample hints, but there's no real conclusive evidence towards what had actually happened to Hera and who Zhou Qianlin exactly is, keeping the readers guessing.

[collapse]
Another emotion thoroughly expressed in the story is love. The thing is that it's not just your casual love, but real deep romantic love, true love. We see many glimpses of Lan Jue's deep affection towards Hera in melancholic scenes, which is really touching and heartwarming. I really like how TJSS subtly expresses such emotions, as explicitly stating it would lose a huge portion of its effect and impact. In one part of the story, TJSS uses Lan Jue's affections for Hera to stir up an internal conflict with himself. Love is an important aspect to the story, as numerous parts of the story revolves around romance. There were numerous times that the romance in the story had a deep impact on me, something really different compared to other romance novels. TJSS was really able to wonderfully utilize realistic emotions in Skyfire Avenue.

With regards to the negatives, the novel is really slow. Even after a few hundred chapters, the conflict isn't really present or impactful. Sure, parts of the main conflict were introduced, however, it was just that. While some may argue that Skyfire Avenue's plot is horrible and without any direction, TJSS has placed a few hints towards the direction of the story. In my opinion, that's another one of Skyfire's charms. The storyline isn't linear. You're given a few hints which makes you guess the direction of the story, but you aren't really too sure. This trait keeps the story interesting, with readers anticipating what would happen in the story.

Overall, Skyfire Avenue is one of the best novels I've seen. Honestly, I've never been too much of a fan with the mecha genre, but that didn't stop me from thoroughly liking this novel. There's nothing that needs to be said about the romance. The action scenes were pretty exciting and impactful. The mystery and suspense were on point and there were plenty of scenes that made me laugh so hard. I really recommend reading this. Keep in mind that this isn't your usual Chinese Xianxia-type novels that have no real substance.

I hate wine. I really do. I hate meccha. I really do. I hate tsunderes. I really do. I hate harems. I really do. This story combines four aspects I despise together. Now it is well written, and could possibly get better later on, but I have neither the patience nor the tolerance to read about how wine is stored. Now matter how good a plot, characters or fight scenes are, as long as it isn't interesting it is pointless.

I look forward to seeing an MC grow in terms of... more>> strength over time, but this guy is already OP. So what do I look forward to? Wine? Ham? TJSS is my favourite author and it pains me to say this, but I despise this book with a passion and I find it very boring. <<less

Pretty good so far. Author starts off the first 15 chapters kinda weird, but after that it slowly progresses nicely. Get past chapter 15 and you are hooked for sure.

The romance is progressing nicely too, however there are a few WTF moments, but will not spoil them as they have impact on the story. Let's just say you will enjoy the romance in this story. Some have said it lacks romance, but if you read carefully and pay attention, it is flowing nicely and is building like a snowball rolling... more>> down a mountain,

Tho it has the Harem inclinations it is NOT harem, this is definitely one guy, one girl story.

Action wise is not as much as other stories but when it does have action it does not lack impact. Mecha fights are decent and exciting.

There are a TON of side characters and all have their roles and are not discarded after a few chapters like some stories. Once introduced they will reappear and have some impact. Each character is unique and brings something to the story. The MC's Harem (I call them that and you will to after reading) is fun and OP. Think of the Harem as his sisters. This should not be a turn off as there is a love interest!

The story does suffer from excess info on frivolous stuff, especially talking about nobility, wines, food etc, but it adds to the story and is a premise of the story itself as it sets the mood and characteristics of the MC. Basically the MC enjoys the finer things in life and enjoys a certain lifestyle, at the same time he is also a person with high moral standards, but will break those morals for his loved ones if needed.

This is story where patience most definitely is needed and to read in segments (suggest 10+ chapters at a time). Reading single chapters. You will lose interest fast and miss out on the overall story. <<less

Finally finished this one. Honestly, I was surprised how much I liked this mecha themed novel, as I usually avoid them like plague. I think that what mostly made me stay was that it was Chinese and still partly themed on cultivation. It made nice combination of both and tech and cultivation as they walked hand in hand until the end.

What made me actually like it was that it had different approach from the usual get stronger, kill stronger enemies. The enemy has friend in higher place that comes for... more>> revenge so you kill them too and now the next comes... You get the point. This had none of that, instead it offered quite nice contrast and gave us insight of how a high tech civilization with cultivation powers would live, while implementing a bit of real Earth's history right into it all.

I must say that if you find starting a bit slow at first, stick to it. Soon you will find yourself enjoying it. I think most people problems are that they comes to this novel from those bloodbath everyone killed by MC novels and feel that now that they have to face normal world, where not everyone is blood-lusting hormone filled beast, they feel it is too slow paced. Once your mind relaxes a bit, you can actually enjoy the good plot and characters.

This is another huge thing about this novel. You know how the MC usually leaves his friends behind in the dust as he levels up. Soon the big friendly older brother is left behind as MC races on and then you never hear of him again, while the author keeps introducing new characters that you start to feel you couldn't care less about. There is none of that here. Every character is well fleshed out and if you are introduced to one of them, you will probably see them stick around and be important in the future.

Translation quality is top notch and translator usually gives insight behind mentioned Chinese medicine, mythology, culture, so you don't feel left out. I honestly wanted the author notes be at the bottom of the page though as sometimes it was too distracting and took away from the moment, but it was not that bad. All in all, a solid translation. <<less

Let me start by saying that this novel is truly an unexpected hit. In my opinion, it is one of the best web novels out there with a unique mix of themes; really a breath of fresh air after so many conservative cultivation novels.

Having said that, it does not mean that the novel has no flaws. The author's exposition on particular topics like wine, food or furniture can sometimes feel long-winded and boring.

So what are some good things about the novel? Characters - so many of them, and they are... more>> developed well enough for the readers to enjoy their interaction with the MC. The MC love story is also well thought out and feels genuine. One of the best love stories I've read in a novel.

Dialogues between MC and other main supporting characters have very good flow. The banter between the four brothers is really top notch and successfully shows how tight-knit they are. Readers will definitely have a good chuckle or two.

The plot is different to say the least; one of the reasons is because the setting is a sci-fi setting mixed with cultivation in space involving lots of planets. The story is exciting but nothing groundbreaking. However, mixed with the setting and the futuristic theme, even the more common plotlines feel refreshing. The author does a good job, to a certain extent, to tie all loose ends (and even put a little twist here and there).

Overall, this is a very good light novel, even feels like a teen / high school novel at times, but really, it is a lot of fun. If you are looking for a relaxing, light-hearted read, this novel will do just fine. <<less

Spoiler

This series has so many good reviews that I told myself I had to find out why. The synopsis doesn't tell you much about it. From the very start I found the story very refreshing and it was so addicting I read 200 chapters in one go without stopping. There are good points and bad points but overall this series is one of the betters ones. After a while the freshness stops being so fresh and the author resorts to the same cliches we're all used to, but for many it won't stop the story from being enjoyable.

In short, some good points that I personally enjoyed: character interactions are very enjoyable, main character is a good guy, refreshing cultivation system, most side characters are fleshed out (as usual just the guys though).

Here are some bad points: Although the story isn't a harem, most women fall in love with him and he will never tell them off until they either die off or the author just stops mentioning them altogether. The main heroine is just a terrible character. For about 300 chapters all we know about her is that she is the most beautiful woman in the world and she is so much of a saint she literally washes the feet of old infirmed people as a hobby in her spare time. Then all of a sudden she has a super special cultivation and the main character can only get stronger when she is near him. Also, if you don't like heroines falling in love with the main character because she was "accidentally" r*ped then you really won't like this story.

The only Chinese novel I have read which depicts emotions and relations close to real life. Other wise we have those MC's killing millions and getting aroused by every jade like Beauty.
The story depicts journey of a powerful man who has lost his true love. The author has done extensive research and provides a good change of pace from those conventional 'FACE' loving novels.

Surprisingly interesting. I went in expecting another fantasy style like Doulou Dalu, but it seems like it also has a more sci-fi aspect with the magic abilities.

This is absolutely worth reading. Just skim through bits you find boring, the world building is pretty epic.

Definitely a novel with a pretty bad start. For the first twenty chapters or so, you have go go on reading about how wonderful this piece of ham is and how gorgeous this wine is and all that jazz. But after that, things start to turn for the better-- at chapter 85, the novel's starting to get more and more exciting, and the pace seems to be speeding up a bit. If it wasn't for the bad start, I definitely would've given it a 5/5.

I have read all the 164 chapters released so far... The novel is ok, no glaring flaws that would ruin the reading experience. However reading this was a boring experience, there was never once when I was excited or felt tensions or made to feel any emotion. The main character is so strong and perfect you know he will flawlessly win every time, there is no character growth which leads to such a stagnant novel. 3/5

Read this novel because it's different, there is a good chance that you will be addicted.

This novel is pretty unique, the main point is that it follows a format that is different from the normal xianxia style, and generally the way Chinese novels are structured.

The main thing about this novel is that it is kinda 'mystery' genre. We don't really know the story of any of the characters. But that is further explained as we go along. However, don't expect it to be quick, we don't really get that much... more>> backstory and most of it is worldbuilding and a bit of filler. The fillers, however in this story is pretty well done, most of it is filled with interaction between characters or around a certain subject like wines, meats, gems whatever goes (as long as it's classy). We start with Zeus (Lan Jue) he is a man in deep grief over the death of his partner in life. Certain events happen and these events kickstart the novel, we follow Lan Jue as he explores old, new relationships, and of course all sorts of cultural stuff.

Don't expect too much action/leveling up. This novel is all about the worldbuilding and interaction between characters. There is some action; with and without mechs and it is pretty cool. However, as we haven't progressed with the character it doesn't really matter too much about these abilities.

This novel gets 4/5 - the reason is that the story really drags on, later on. <<less

While this does start off slow as @Aruzu stated, it does build up really well. It is a mature novel as some topics may be sensitive to some people.. There are Mechas in this novel so the tag's are correct but like we said earlier its a slow starting novel

Overall its a good read and I do recommend it highly.

the plot is refreshing, for the most part, there are really interesting characters who even outshines the MC (but that's not really a difficult task tbh), the female lead was not that ret*rded or bad- in the first volume or so, but from then, hoo boy...

Spoiler

the story paces on like a snail, did I say something about the plot? don't worry, the author forgets about it as the story progresses, the fem MC is a, well, a psychopath would be a good word to describe her... as the story progresses, the MC whom we thought was a total ass becomes the victim (he's still a b*tch), the female MC, the shopkeeping girl (this one is MESSED UP), clairvoyant, and almost every other character becomes somewhat antagonistic and the rest of the volumes are basically the MC bearing the brunt of their calculated plans, which, well, seemed pretty unnecessary to me, hell even the real 'antagonists were f*cking merciful compared to these sick f*cks.

[collapse]

Spoiler

ah, also, the reason for his original wifes' death was so f*cked up, and the gay-reveal towards the end, man... it was a good concept, refreshing for the genre and such, but hell, it seemed as if that plot point was introduced just for the sake of making other characters feel pain for no concrete reason. Honestly, although the writing style and all is good, about 2 volumes in, the story devolves into some kind of torture p*rn.

[collapse]

if anything, the author compensated (though not completely) all these f*ck ups was using interesting concepts and the fact that MC is not a god-king or whatever in the end. with high-culture details and western elements added in it was an interesting read, but f*ck, finishing it was tedious if anything, too many junk details. BUT, got to give it to the TL team, they did an amazing job with this! Overall, 3/5, it should've been 2.5, but the TL gets 0.5. <<less
