Very well written, but the pace is far too slow. The logic of the side characters is bent to match the whims of the pace, which I think is my problem. There are times that I feel happy that the MC isn't being handed opportunities on a silver platter - it's nice that he doesn't become some core disciple and find a hidden manual and absorb some super energy etc. Essentially all his luck is just some nice spring water and a bracelet that affects his body in weird ways.... more>> The problem is that this all becomes frustrating - sure nobody is handing him opportunities but it's like they squander his potential all over the place and forget about him. Overall it's not bad but I keep wavering between seeing this novel as a breath of fresh air one minute, then immensely frustrated the next. <<less

Read up to chapter 26 before stopping as I saw that it would be until the 1-- or so until he actually started on his path. The story has multiple (POV) but its done in skillful way that's hard to get annoyed at. This is because its such a slow start novel the MC doesn't cultivate early on and these alternative POVs give you the opportunity to look at the make up of this worlds Jiang Hu without having to speedily throw a small child into a dangerous life and... more>> or time skip ahead so many years. It was actually nice seeing an MC live an ordinary life for a period of time.

As I said this is a slow novel in the sense that the author is setting up the world and not rushing and giving plot armor to the MC. I know that tragic heart breaking things can happen, I know that things will impact the small child emotionally, I wont be surprised if the MC is bullied and only 20 chapters later he'll be strong enough to over throw his bully and all the schemes or just in the 1st 100 chapters or even 100 to 200 chapters after he's strong enough to beat down and massacre everything within his or the neighboring sects.

I haven't read this novel and awhile, mainly because I want it build up for another 146 chapters but that's a personal decision.
Spoiler

The other reasons I don't read this novel right away is firstly because from looking at the TOC and knowing what happened with a certain group of young masters, I know or can guess that the MC will be framed for mu*der and that's how he starts on his path to martial arts and lastly because cultivation doesn't start until chapter 1-- or so

There isn't enough chapters to confirm much, some people might find it slow, but it's interesting at the very least. The MC seems respectable and he isn’t a ridiculous bastard (he's still child though). There is at lot of fleshing out and information, but I do believe it'll start picking up soon. :-)

I've read ahead for a few chapters, but the story becomes a bit complex for MT.

It's well written, with plenty of character development, unlike most xianxias. Right now, it seems more like a slice of life story than a martial arts novel. But as a result, all the characters in the story are well fleshed out. You can relate to them and understand their motivations.

Spoiler

The MC doesn't even start learning martial arts till around chapter 50, so don't expect too much action.
