A miracle doctor was exiled to an alternate savage world and forced to change his scummy ways!

Yan Mo’s soul was transferred to another world after he had thoroughly offended God. He quickly understood how cruel the world he was in was.

The reason he was hit unconscious by a primitive man and brought back to his home was to be that man’s winter food reserves. The tribe he was in was a super spartan primitive tribe, and the people here only respected two things: Combat power and fighting ability! The former was the fighting power in battles, the latter was…

……

Examine illness? Chinese medicine? Drink those bitter sandy things? The hell is that? Are you trying to mu*der our tribe’s warrior? Die!

Plant wheat? Raise pigs and chickens? We are warriors, not s*aves! Die!

Teaching the women to make clothes and cook? Make them soap and perfume? F*ck, he’s actually seducing our women! Die!

You’re a messenger of God? Here to lead us to a better life? Very well. We’ll give you one day, conquer all of our enemies, make them into sl*ves and bring them back. If you can’t, you’re dead!

Yan Mo: “……”

This one is also a hidden gem. Aside from what other reviewers have already said, what I'd like you to come to attention is the fact that this story (at least at this point) seems to be a yaoi/danmei/BL story that doesn't really focus on the yaoi (imma use this term coz I'm used to this), instead focusing more on other things like (1) a considerably realistic/scientific/not-too-fictitious-'im-modern-and-everything-I-know-is-revolutionary-and-you-uncouth-savages-are-dumb-shits' kind of story, and (2) (from the look of it) a more realistic, romantic (?) romance that, I won't say much (coz... more>> I can't think of how to describe it right now) but is severely lacking in most BL stories I see nowadays on this site (like there's brainless MC dom ML, ruthless-with-everyone-and-also-smarter-than-anyone except with ML, etc., which normally you'd associate with most normal B/G, M/FM kind of romance. Heck all romances might come to be like this. Who am I to judge...). A BL not focusing on BL romance is what BL lacks if you ask me, as we don't normally see things like normal stories that aren't romance (like action, adventure, etc.), that lends itself to BL. (Like you can ship them all you want, but the brothers ain't gonna get together no matter what) meaning that BL is still considered/treated as not normal. But in this novel (from what I currently am seeing) is the author not treating BL as something special, but just another thing, as normal.... I don't know if I'm getting my point across but... anyway, I'm really glad that a story like this exists and is getting translated.

tl;dr Good story. Good romance. Probably. (I'm sensing no ridiculous shits like... you'd prob know what I'm talking about if you hate it.) (It might change. I hope not. TvT) (I'm only on what.. c14? might just try to read ahead by myself some time) A ~psychopathic MC. A yaoi tag. What's more to hope for. (More chapters I guess lol)

//the translator leaves notes about the trans like idioms and such, so if you like it... :D There's also no weird stuffs you have to do coz he/she wants to ward against bots (and as a results does not ward bots but instead readers.)

Update (c111) : The translator is not the same anymore but my rating is still the same. I'll edit my review at some point. <<less

This story is just so good. MC transmigrates into a nearly dead caveman about to be drowned in a marsh. He's a bad guy morally, like a sociopath, but he's forced to be good. Like, he starts of as an "idealized sociopath" who has a moral compass that they frequently ignore for self preservation who don't understand the consequences of their actions. The setting is accurate to history so we have s*avery, cannibalism, and constantly warring tribes. They are nowhere on the level of some of the African tribes you... more>> can see on tv. The society lacks base resources. People are no higher than animals. <<less

4.6 for me. This is going to be a long ass review.

Warning : if you are not okay and can't handle with r*pe, torture, s*avery, human trafficking, Cannablism, human Rights violation and those who can't separate fiction from reality, Don't read this novel, it's not for you.

First, Plot and Story building wise:

I love it. You might think it just a story that revolves in primitive era where our MC (guy fron mordern era) trying to make it a civilized era...... you are right but it also contain a... more>> lot more of things like power abilities, magic not to forget special intelligent creatures, Gods and then space alien too. Sounds weird but it's pretty interesting. Although it also has lots of issues related with s*avery, cannablism, r*pe, torture, human rights Violation etc and all but I like how it was written like that (pretty realistic considering the start of the world with primitive people) and how the world change later on. It's a sad that this things still happens in today's generation although it's illegal now. Well, It's worth recommending. Trust me the story gets better and better and those issues (above) will get a bit better too........ well not till after some 300 chapters or somethingㄟ (・ө・) ㄏ.

I really liked how this time our MC was a Real bad guy unlike other transmitted stories. It was pretty nice to see Jiu Yuan growth from scratch to the most powerful tribe in east continent. The growth of characters and the tribe and its development and progression. Our MC is too OP.... I mean literally too much OP.

I would have gave it full points if it wasn't for author deliberately rushed the ended and other things. I don't about other but for me, I am not so satisfied with the way it ended. This story has a lot more potential to become better. Like the adventure of Mo in North and South Continent and meeting other semi-god creatures and also how their planet end up as 1st class civilization in interstellar and many more. I wouldn't have mind reading a thousands more chapter on that.

I also didn't like how some of important fights are expressed in only one or two sentences and in that way that before you know the fight already ended. I also didn't like the going from Present to future event that will occur later.... well, it's actually good to know some of the event that might occur in future but I like when things are explained in detail and such thing are a tease for me. (I want to know Du Du love story with mer-king, f*ck)

2nd, the relationship between ML and MC.

There's a lot many negative feedback on our ML:

[I Probably shouldn't say this but seriously, ML is from primitive area and ofcourse his prespective of things are same as other people. You can't expect him to directly change so quickly just because he met MC who's from mordern world. It's not easy to change ones prespective, especially if it had been going on became so common thing at that time. Then again, I am not supporting it but I just hope people would think about it]

I really love how their relationship end up becoming. I really liked MC hatred for ML and how it dissolve with given situation and later turned into love and It really took long ass time for our MC to fall for our ML (Unlike other r*pe start relationship where uke's just end up falling for seme after staying with him for few days) and the way he end up falling for ML is also very acceptable for me (ML really did a lot if things for him to show his love for him). I don't support toxic/ forced relationship too but if that toxic/forced relationship try and can be change into healthy one then why not give it a chance (to support).

I really liked ML character development and his love for MC. His love for MC is scary but very sweet, considering him as person from that era he really did tried his best to make MC fall in love with him (and it wasn't that easy). It's also the reason how he end up changing into likable character (although others might still not like him). The one thing I really like about this story is how our ML (a pure seme) was really willing to be the uke for our MC. As a pure seme myself, it's never easy to give up your position and willing to be under someone. It's not easy, even if the other person is the one you loved (one of the reson why I love ukes more) but this guy, this f*cking savage guy really did. Heads off to him.

I really loved how the author reminded us that even though our MC is uke, he too is a man. I like and prefer when there is a seme and uke postion in bl story (i think others too like it) but people often end up thinking uke role into female role and ends up forgetting that they are a man too and they too probably want to f*ck their lover instead of being f*cked all the time.

I am not a big fan of reverse role but I liked the reverse in here. It showed how ML was was ready to give up his dignity, his ass for the one he love and how MC (the uke) is/can be a wild man too. that was probably my fav love making of them. Although ML is too possessive but if MC is okay with that then who cares.

3rd, Babies:

Everyone likes babies...... especially in fictional. I really love the wholesome relationship with ML, MC and his disciple and the babies.

Although ML and MC changed and developed a lot from each other but they are still original too the core. MC is still a bad guy (even with Guide restriction) and ML is still like a Savage guy and their kids....... i'll leave it.

I would have love to read more chapters but what can we do when author doesn't want to write anymore. I would have love to know more about other couples too like YiBing and WuMeng (their relationship need a stable ending), Dada-Ding Fei and Ding Ning and Zi guy (i don't know if they have made any progressing to the relationship). I am especially worried about single guys like Yu Wu and Si Tan (who will be their partner or if they will have partner) and the kids, Lamo-ling, Jiu Feng, Sumen, Xiao hei, wonder who their partner will be especially Wu Gou, since he is the other son of life. As for D.U.B.O.I and Xiaohei...... will they have partners too? Finally I want a separate story of Du du and the mer-king (how can you tease us like that author).

Although I really love this novel, not gonna lie, translation was bit crappy, but they tried. Well, thanks to them atleast I could understand most of the things and got to enjoy the story. <<less

The novel is very engaging and plot-heavy. This is not your usual fluffy fluffy BL. The primitive life is very cruel, harsh, and the MC is there to speed up the process of civilization with his Jiu Yuan tribe.

The system is cruel, yes. Yet it also act as the biggest gold finger for the MC. The MC is also not innocent either, he used to experiment on countless creatures (even human) which sounds psychopatic to me. Meanwhile the ML? At first he's very savage like other primitive people, but he... more>> gradually becomes a possessive with a yandere tendency towards MC. I don't really like him tbh.

I must admit, he really loves MC very much. But, the fact that he r*pes MC (cuz he was a s*ave) and MC gradually fall in love with his rapist kinda threw me off. And the last few chapters leave a bitter taste in my mouth, cuz once again a character (Yuan Bing) end up with his rapist (Shi yu).

It gives me an impression that the Author romanticizing r*pe.

The villains are annoying, their motivation seems quite childish (like envious because someone is better than them blablabla). The Author also tried to make several 'strong' female characters (like Duo Fei, blablabla), yet I think its badly done. Instead of strong, the women scheme like a concubine in emperor's harem. They said they want to be strong to stand on their own, yet they continue to latch on the strongest man they see. I quite like Sha Lang and Cao Ting; they both respect themselves, have pride, yet also have to ability to back up their pride. Cao Ting was a s*ave yet she endures and later becomes an important person in the tribe. Sha Lang was from a weak tribe, but she establish her position as a trusted female warrior. Meanwhile the so called 'princesses' think they deserve to be with the strongest man and hold the strongest position, yet do nothing except scheme and scheme. I thought, as a princess, they should've known the best: being strong is everything. Sigh.

The MC children are cute. I think that's a plus point.

I kinda regret reading this book. I feel like I gain nothing except feeling grateful to be born in a safe environment. But don't let my opinion hinder your curiosity. Cuz this book still have its own appeal. <<less

This is a very very good novel, I love their adventure together, their ups and down. The romance are more realistic, in the beginning they only use each other for their own benefit but the feelings slowly become true and mutual, I love that they support each other shortcoming, I love their conversation, and I love
Spoiler

that they love their 'children' very much, and they spoiled them.

[collapse]
Slowly, the ML becoming a new person. He described as a 'bad guy', but for me, he's not that bad,
Spoiler

i also love that he have a soft spot for children, he's very patient and will often reward them some handmade candy. He will treat patience very seriously. He wont treat children or patience with disgust (you know, ancient people not so hygienic, poop and pee in the house). And when he teach someone, he will explain the process deeply, he even won't scold if they make mistakes.

[collapse]
He's a good teacher.
Ah, I really love this novel.

At first the story was very slow but that is reasonable since this story involve a lot of world building. At first I read this story because it's BL but then when I read it I realized that it is not a typically BL novel that only involve around the main cp but it just happen to be a great adventure story with a gay couple. To put it simple, this novel is great and the translator did a good job with the explaining although there are a few mistakes... more>> but it is still understandable.

*I had just done reading all of the chapters and I do feel that the author really love to drag things with the story and I don't mind it but I do think the ending could be more. <<less

Whew, this was a novel that I stayed away from for the longest time. The slow development from the initial chaos and depravity means that the beginning of the novel makes a lot of readers feel like this story is just wrong. At least, morally? I personally didn't mind it, but I was forwarned. To make sure that anyone who finds my review can start from the same starting point, I can say that you should pay attention to the Content Warnings provided by the author and translators, as well... more>> as the tags here on NovelUpdates! Aside from that... the story is wild, if you're easily triggered, it's probably best to avoid the novel altogether!

The main character of the novel is a 'scum' who was transmigrated by force by a "Reformation Guide". This Guide observes his actions and makes it impossible for him to act out his darker instincts. It rewards and punishes him based on a very strict criteria, making it almost impossible for him to survive in his new world, which is a world stuck in a primitive era -- where people ate people because of lack of food, where it is natural for the strong to ens*ave the weak, where there are many (many many many) creatures (both intelligent and non-intelligent) waiting to kill everyone as soon as they step out of safe areas.

The first arc of the story focuses on establishing the enmity between the MC and the ML. The ML picked up the MC in the beginning and ens*aved him. Naturally, the MC wasn't having it, but his current circumstances could only allow him to make small moves in the savage tribal environment that he had been dumped in. As the story progresses, the thinking of the people will naturally change. It's actually pretty satisfying if you stick through it! The characters are very complex and the worldbuilding is very well-done (in my opinion). So...

Altogether! If you think you can handle the graphic and potentially triggering themes thrown your way (especially in the beginning), I think this novel is worth reading. It's long... but I didn't get bored even till the end! The only reason I dropped it before finishing was that I had work to do T.T and I'm not sure I'll be able to pick it back up after I finish. So, I can only come back to finish it another day.

CHARACTERS: 10/10

With such a wide-cast, it's easy to forget some characters, but the author manages to keep everyone very consistent. There's also a lot of complexity in them~

Yan Mo (MC)

The MC was a pretty wicked doctor/research in his previous life. He did a lot of bad things, and now he's being punished for it. At the very start, he has very little fighting power, but he's crafty and he has his medical skills to prop him up.

Yuan Zhan (ML)

Raised in a primitive era and in a savage tribal community, he and his people don't share the same moral values as modern people. For him, it's natural to oppress the weak. He does a lot of bad things in the beginning and continues to do them without guilt even in the latter arcs. But, overtime, he does eventually go through development that allows him to understand some things. Though, at his core, he's still a savage man that was born in barbaric times.

ROMANCE: 8.5/10

I like the romance here. Not sure if others will agree. I mean, the concept of 'r*pe victim becomes lover' naturally turns people off. I can't deny that. But I'm not really giving these scores based on my acceptance of the romance between the characters. Rather, it's the development!!! The MC and ML starts off as enemies (in the MC's POV) and it takes a loooooooong time for them to workout their issues. You might hate the ML for most of the novel, which is valid, but there's no denying that the build-up is very satisfying. It's slow, and while not necessarily sweet, it has its own dark charm to it.

SETTING: 10/10

Ahhhhhh the setting T.T This novel gave me lots of inspiration. I can tell a lot of thought went to worldbuilding! I mean, just considering all the different tribes and ethnic groups... whew. Must have been a lot of work! BUT, it's all worth it since it created such a complete-feeling world.

PLOT: 9/10

The story is broken down in quite a few arcs, and there are some that I didn't really like at first or ended up finding kinda boring some time in the middle. However, in the end, I still think pretty highly of the author's ability to engage the reader through conflicts and tension -- and not the worthless kind that most authors throw at you. Everything here is connected in some way, which is very satisfying when it all comes together.

PERSONAL ENJOYMENT: 10/10

This story kept me captive for several days, and no matter how much I disagree with some of its contents, as a reader that doubles as a writer, I can easily admit to having found the experience very satisfying.

RATING: 4.75/5

I'm looking forward to rereading this in the future! I just love novels with rich worldbuilding~ <<less

Ok. So.

Read it.

First, I was a bit reluctant because of the summary. I thought the MC will be full of hardships in this novel which I don't prefer. I love healing novels. HOWEVER, still, I tried to read a few chapters and I was hooked. I LOVE it.

YES, the MC really did suffer. Like seriously. He thought that because he saved a person, he'll reduce scum points. Instead, he'll be punished severely because of the consequences that follows the life of the saved people. Like how he solved the decreasing... more>> reproduction of the mer-people, he was punished by the guide and he became a very old man for a year. The guide said that the increase in population of the mer-people affects many species so he was punished. Even though he doesn't want to save anybody, but if he ignores a dying person, he'll be punished too. It's really frustrating and heartbreaking, for me.

However, even though he's being punished by the Guide. He didn't stop being a bad person. Instead, he tried to probe the rules of the system and learned the loopholes that could be used to prevent being punished. Although the MC suffered through so much misfortune, he was still lucky since he met Jui Feng, a Human-faced Kunpeng Bird. In short, a baby bird that bought all the good things to the MC. Through him, the MC got the Fruit of Witchcraft who is the essential part to the resurrection of his son DuDu and also got another son WuWu. I think that without this baby bird, the MC would have been still succesful, but it would take a very long time and he would have to suffer much more.

The ML can be described as a very smart adaptable beast. I like how flexible his mind is and how talented and cunning he is in terms of leadership in a tribe. He was born a world leader. However, he cannot get rid off his savage personality that has been carved in his bones for 17 years. The primitive people do not know the words human rights, r*pe and chastity. They are used to plunder and do what whatever they desire as long as he had the capability to be strong. The public or*y after the warriors returned was too shocking, how much psychological impact had the MC had after that. At that time, I thought that if the ML shares the MC with others, I'm done with this novel. Fortunately, he didn't. Sigh. I don't really blame the ML since that was what he learned as he gew up in that tribe but still...

Anyways, the character development is very very gradual and it never stopped even to the end of the novel. The first to have this noticable change was the ML as the MC tried to reeducate and train him as a civilized man. The ML realized that he loved the MC without knowing what love was, he only knew how to express it with possession. He would always say that he would die with the MC several times. But then, he learned how to respect the MC's wishes and also how to also give in the relationship (I mean the ***) and not always take. It was a first for me, to read a novel where the gong was really taken by the shou AND the gong was the one who took iniative and was willing. And I realized how important that is in a relationship, an equal standing. The MC finally let go of his misgivings and truly loved the ML without any other thoughts of leaving the ML.

The change in MC became very noticable when the sons finally became fruits and was tangible in his hands. It was like a relief for him and the softness showed little by little. Then the MC finally truly cared about the people in the Jui Yuan, even more than the ML. After Dudu was born, that when his heary really became a bit soft, still bad, but passable.

Anyways, what I likes about this novel is how weak they were at the beginning and how they steadily climbed up to the strong suffering all kinds of pains and conspiracies from enemies. I wanted to see how the MC would experince the North Continent where all the semi-gods who broke through the sky would go through. Sigh, alas, I wanted more extras on Dudu and Wuwu but... sigh...

Anyways, read it. Bye. <<less

WARNING

Don't measure this story based on the standard of our own 21st century world because this story is based on Stone Age. STONE AGE! So obviously there will be many elements that will irk you, baffle you and amuse you. And people talking about 'human rights violations' in a book that features stone age really makes me wonder whether people have brains. Even when its 21st century, many countries don't have human rights. Anyways, just free your mind beforehand and then only you will experience the true beauty of this... more>> novel.

Now coming back to the review, I would first like to say that, out of all the books I have read in my life, this book is definitely my favorite! Only favourite! It has already been a year since I read this book and honestly there hasn't been a single day I haven't thought about this book. It's truly amazing.

SYNOPSIS

It's about a scum doctor who gets transmigrated into primitive era which has cultivation and magical beings. He has a 'system' making his life hell alongside giving him opportunities to improve.

MERITS

1. The message of the story is what I think is the best thing about BAW. There are only a few Chinese web novels, reading which you can learn about life, family, friendship, morality, civilization, culture, humanity, etc. And this book is that. It really teaches you how a society came to be, how religion is in many cases more powerful than laws, what is civilization and so on. Of course, I won't consider everything written in the book to be perfect, but the knowledge you get from this book, I swear, is far far far greater than any other webnovels you have read. It even focuses on things like how to treat prisoners of wars, how to treat vulnerable groups of the society, etc. Since its a civilization building book, inclusion of these things sets this book apart from any other similar novels.

2. System is so active in this story. It is not just fade to black kind of system. You will feel the presence of the system all the time. The system itself can be considered a character, even one of the main side characters. I immensely loved the system. The whole system and its workings are written properly. I loved and feared the system. It is a 'no-nonsense' kind of character. It isn't there for a show. It is harsh when MC makes mistakes and it is rewarding when MC does well. Many people seem to hate it. May be they are more used to systems that care about the MC a lot. But one thing you should remember is the theme of the story: to reform the MC. So if there was not such a harsh system in the first place, do you think MC would have been reformed? No! So the system is very consistent with the plot and I like that.

3. Martial Arts System is also well developed and easy to follow. Many authors give different unique names to different stages of martial arts and I respect that. But seriously speaking, I forget all those complicated names. In this book, however, everything is simple. Martial arts stages are numbered, so its easy to remember and practical as well.

4. World Building is also immensely well-done. Although the characters didn't travel the whole world, the places they did travel were vividly described. MC and ML started from their small tribe and traveled to a lot of places giving a lot of space for world-building to occur. All the places they went have their own unique traits and are well written.

5. Characters are well-written. The focus is placed not just on the lead characters but also on all the main side characters. Since the novel is so long, there are a lot of characters but each and every one of them are unique and always add something new to the story. The characters are not limited to human beings but there are mermaids, dwarfs and other mythical beings. By the way, my favorite character is Jiu Feng!

6. Pace of the story is just right. Every problem is solved by MC and ML thoroughly. None of the arcs are dragged out. Attention is given to every little details.

7. Story itself is strong enough to occupy your mind for ages. At least for me, I haven't forgotten about it even after a year of having finished reading and I am finally writing a review. The focus is on farming, economic development, cultivation, adventure, medicine, action, and romance. There are both supernatural and sci-fi elements, for example, abilities and space ships. If you don't like sci-fi then you don't need to worry because it is not explored much but only a gist is given about how and why MC came to this world and why MC is forced to develop this world and so on. On a different note, there are cute children and cute pets. Lots of them! And all these are well-balanced in the story.

8. Character Growth is another important aspect of this novel. One of the main reasons MC was transmigrated to the primitive era was to reform as a person, to transform from a scum to a kind person. Does he succeed?? Yes, he does. He starts as a scum but by the end of the novel, he does become a lot generous than how he originally started. He himself feels happy that he finally has a family and many good friends. Other than MC, many side characters also experience character growth. They started out as savages living a life filled with s*avery, cannibalism, and what not. But with MC's influence, they become 'civil'. But I think ML's growth was the greatest of all. He transforms from a primitive guy to a guy who bottoms for MC. Even in books with modern setting, authors usually don't write reversible couple which is a huge disappointment. But a ML from a Stone Age who is so "alpha" willingly bottoms is indeed a huge character growth. (But honestly, books and media treat bottoms as someone weak and tops as strong, which is wrong!!! In real life, most homos*xual couples are reversibles, you know.) But for a Stone Age themed book, bottoming is a kind of giving in so I was really impressed by the ML. And, of course, that's not the only character growth ML experiences, or else that would be too sad.

9. There certainly are a lot of books written on this genre but 'Banished to Another World' is certainly worthy of respect. While maintaining the overall spirit of the genre in general, the book brings a lot of elements together to carefully weave a beautiful, heartwarming and cool story that I'll definitely not forget for the rest of my life.

10. The romance is slow. MC was kinda loner in his previous life. He had this wall around himself. But ML cracks it and later his friends and children do too. So although, MC and ML did have a very rough start, the romance when it developed could be called beautiful. Especially when ML willingly bottomed for MC, and they finally became a versatile couple, I was immensely happy. How often do you get to see a BL novel with a reversible couple? Not much, right? This fact of stepping out of the norm (of BL books, of course) itself is enough to praise the novel.

11. All the social problems like cannibalism, s*avery, polygamy, polyandry, and so on are properly addressed and solved thoroughly.

12. Details is what sets the books apart from many other stone age related books. For example, MC decides to hold a banquet. And I am sure many novels will directly jump to the scene of holding the banquet, but in this book the author takes the time to show how these barbarians even hold the banquet in the first place. So we would be shown the characters asking MC questions like "How to write an invitation card?" "What food to prepare?" "How to arrange the venue?" etc. This adds such realism to the story. After all, a bunch of savages suddenly holding a lavish banquet wouldn't make sense, but if the book clearly shows how they are learning these sort of things actively, it wouldn't feel abrupt. And the author always explains small things like this. I am sure many people who had read the horrible translation may not have noticed this, but the author always explains things that many authors just don't bother with.

DEMERITS

1. ML is the cliche type. But he does change in many ways. He experiences a lot of character growth, but he is still cliche. So the relationship between the lead characters isn't the best. In fact, I would say it's extremely toxic. That's the reason MC completely ignores ML's advances at the beginning to may be middle of the novel. But of course he falls in love anyways. This is just romanticizing toxicity which I am very much against. There are some other side couples as well, some of whom have the the healthiest relationships
Spoiler

like the would-be chief of the first tribe MC landed to, and especially the beast men tribe because they respect women.

[collapse]

But as I have said earlier, the ML is from Stone Age. Now just imagine yourself being from that era. You have no modern views. What would you do if you like a person? Of course, have s*x with them. It's actually a no-brainer if you think from his perspective. On top of it, MC was originally ML's s*ave because MC was from a different tribe and ML saved his life from the verge of death. So how their s*ave-master relationship came to be is also nothing weird. So from ML's perspective, having s*x with his s*ave isn't a big deal. Of course it's a big deal for MC for whom it is r*pe. So it is just different upbringing of MC and ML that made the whole relationship weird and unhealthy. But the fact that once he learns modern views from MC, he starts to change is what is great, isn't it? Because later in the story, their relationship indeed became harmonious.

But of course I would have liked if there was no such r*pe scenes. I guess this is the only part where Stone Age Husband Raising Journal (SAHRJ) is better than BAW. But for everything else like plot, character growth, and other elements, BAW is better. How do I put it gently? It's stone age so the setting in BAW is more natural than the healthy relationship portrayed in SAHRJ. And let me tell you guys a truth. The only reason SAHRJ actually has a healthy relationship is only because MC is the top. I swear if he was a bottom, their relationship wouldn't have been that healthy. God, so depressing just to think about the twisted brains of fujoshi writers.

And I am not justifying r*pe. R*pe is never okay. If not for how great the story is, I wouldn't have read this book precisely because it has r*pe. That's why no matter how much I know in the heart that the book has a primitive setting, I still couldn't get the thing out of my mind.

2. After all the build up, the anticlimactic ending of the story is indeed a big disappointment. But still the ending didn't diminish the love and praise I have for this novel.

3. Both the old and the new translations are bad. Ugh, what did this novel did to deserve such bad translations! <<less

DROPPED. I got sick of the consent and human rights violations. Yuan Zhan is disgusting and has no good features besides power. He’s kind of pathetically dumb and so stubborn it’s ridiculous. I only stuck around this long because the world is interesting and I’d hoped to see the development, silly me should have realised that there is no development. It’s one step forward and two steps back. Yan Mo created all these rules to try and create equality, with punishments already decided, and again and again they ignore their... more>> rules and don’t follow the punishments. And every time they ignore them it comes back to bite them in the butt, but do they learn that these rules should actually be followed? No, they instead introduce indentured servitude, WHICH IS PRACTICALLY NO DIFFERENT TO THE s*aveRY THEY’RE TRYING TO REPLACE!!! They just continue to r*pe women, children, and men. There’s no personal growth in a single character, and the moment you think there is, they backflip and end up worse than before. It’s disgusting and I have enough self respect to understand how wrong the treatment is.

It is pretty hilarious watching the author preach how amazing ancient Chinese doctors were, and how everything ever developed by someone else was stolen from China🤣🤣🤣 and the author’s understanding of medicine and psychology? Non-existent. <<less

I've always wanted to read this novel a long time ago😔, but I can't read bad translation... I know it's rude but I have to say it. I've noticed that this particular translator has other books that he/she translated which I really want to read, but the bad translation is a major turn-off for me. Sorry😥... I wish someone else would pick this novel and translate it...

All I can say is that this novel is not for everybody... but it's brutally awesome. Like brutal. Literally. MC is not OP and there no love at first sight. Very different from other transmigration novels I've read. But the experience really depends on the reader... sometimes I have to stop reading to contemplate my life choices. It makes me cringe and laugh at the same time.

Read the tags my peeps. Read at your own risk. :)

Very good, I hope it will continue in this level. The main character is interesting and have a strong personality, but the great problem with these kind of novel is that sometimes the protagonist change and become super passive, dependent and helpless as the time pass. I'm hoping that these novel don't go these way and the main character stay strong and not turn in to a house wife.

An interesting novel with a new concept through transmigration and making totally different than the rest. I will not elaborate too much as to not spoil it but all I can say is that it is truly well written and you easily get pulled in to want to continue reading how this will continue. I am angry at myself for not knowing Chinese and being bad with MTLing otherwise I would've already continued reading without waiting!

OK, First of all, the character on the cover is our MC, at first I also thought he was ML but after seeing the tattoos under his eyes it was confirmed that he was MC a.k.a. Yan Mo.

Next, let's talk about the plot... The plot of this story itself is very extraordinary, and for those who complain about the story just because the first few chapter of the story is too violent.

I can only suggest trying to hold on a little longer, because this story is truly a hidden gem.... more>> I mean it's a shame if you stopped reading this story just because the first few chapters were described a bit too cruelly.

Next we will discuss the ending of the story... Well the ending is clearly a Clifhanger type.

Spoiler

Honestly I don't like the ending of this story, not because it has a Clifhanger ending, but because rather than Clifhanger, it's more like the author is lazy to continue the story and finally chooses to finish it halfway.

Like, Cliffhanger itself has a slightly similar meaning to open ending, where the ending of the story is left to the imagination of the reader.

But in this story, even though at the end of the story it was described as a Cliffhanger, in fact the author has described every hint of how is the story will end in every scene in several chapters, which means that the ending of the story itself has been determined, but the author doesn't want to tell it in detail.

This is was make the ending of the story is more like being cut in the middle, and the ending is only described as a few spoilers with the depiction of "future" hints in every few chapters.

[collapse]

Another thing that is a little disappointing is the lack of depiction of the main conflict, which relates to the points that I already mentioned in the spoiler
Spoiler

Enemies From Space

[collapse]
And followed by some small plot holes.

As for translation of the story itself, it's actually not that bad (at least it's not as bad as MTL) However the quality of the translation itself is quite reasonable, considering from the info I've read that the translator-nim translated all these stories alone in just 9 months.

Last, My Favorite Characters in this story are The Grand Witch Xiang and Princess of Sound City Lamo-Na <<less

Honestly, this novel is good if you are okay or can accept that the ML is always forcing the MC, hahaha. The MC is not totally weak but he really doesn't have the power to go against the ML and most of the time I get angry or stressed because of what's happening between them but still one of my cups of tea. Btw the story for me is unique I haven't seen a novel similar to this one except for the fact that the MC started being a s*ave... more>> for his first day transmitted from another world which is in ancient times. And I'm only quite unsatisfied with the fact that the bed scenes are censored but if you are someone who doesn't really like the r*pe scenes/bed scenes but still like possessive ML here is for you. <<less

I've stopped at chapter 24 because the following translations were not translated well and it's very confusing and annoying to comprehend.

The story is filled with cruelty and barbaric stuff, however, the logic is there. It's engaging and promising but the translation threw me off.

Oh, let me just say that when reading this, despite things being hard to accept, you really have to think logically and understand the situations written in it.

r*pe definitely is not okay, and so is s*avery, cannibalism and the like. However, it was clearly stated that the... more>> world setting is primitive.

Logically speaking, you can't really expect them to be anything like their modern counterparts. R*pe, s*avery, and all those depressing stuff are the NORM of their world. The author is even considerate to not delve too much into that or it will mess up with reader's psyche and mental health, or things would be even worse.

So yeah, what I'm saying is yoh can't basically expect for good stuff like equality and healthy relationships with primitive or ancient settings because no, they're hella depressing. And the fact is, those stuff basically are part of human history.

Those stuff that aren't acceptable all occured in the past and maybe are even happening in the current era. <<less

This novel was a long and enjoyable journey. The translation isn't the best, but it's readable. Please keep in mind that this novel is set in a primitive era and that their values do not necessarily coincide with modern day values. This is not a r*pe glorifying novel and MC struggles to reconcile with societal values throughout the story. Be aware that this novel does not shy away from cannibalism, r*pe, torture, pe*ophilia, and gore among other things.

MC himself is an antihero. He's conceited, selfish, and only assists other people... more>> in order to further his own means. ML is no saint either, embodying a true primitive man -- he's power-hungry, domineering, and cruel. Both of them admit that they are not good people.

Spoiler

After all, MC originally died in prison after he was caught conducting unethical human experiments. ML originally caught MC as a s*ave and r*pes him.

[collapse]

Nevertheless, there is extensive character development as they work to build their tribe and both MC and ML become great leaders while acting as foils for each other. At the same time, they turn into more mature and empathetic versions of their former selves rather than changing into completely different people, something that many novels fail to achieve.

While MC and ML are bound to each other almost immediately, the romance is slow. MC himself is emotionally stunted while their primitive society does not truly have a concept of love, so they don't come to accept each other until much later.

Spoiler

Thus it takes almost 500 chapters for MC to realize his feelings, although ML realizes it much sooner. Only takes sleeping together for 7 odd years, building a tribe together, adopting a ragtag group of children, and having 2 kids together, for MC to realize he loves ML. Just minor growing pains.

[collapse]

The side characters are pretty cute and lovable. My favorite is Jiu Feng, although Sumen is a close second. In fact, the entire Kunpeng tribe is hilarious.

Spoiler

The king, having been tricked onto the throne, tries to pass the responsibilities to other people, haha. Naturally everyone else refuses.

[collapse]

There is a little bit of I'm-gay-and-so-is-everyone-else going on in this novel, although it's nothing unusual based on their primitive world where men and women sleep with whomever they want.

I appreciate the way that the author included feminist and progressive themes in this novel in a way that isn't forced. There are several strong female characters included in this novel who escape their fates as femme fatales.

The ending was a bit lackluster and seems like the extras might not be completely finished, but at the time of this review there hasn't been any updates for 2 years. We'll see how that goes. I am interested to see their children/apprentices grow up as well as the development of the world, but who knows when that will be.

Spoiler

It's hinted that Du-du became a sadistic master Helen of Troy and brought home a mermaid king lover. Sumen became the second priest of Jiu Yuan and Wu Guo became the emperor. However, not much is mentioned about the rest of the kids.

Warning: r*pe, GORE, VIOLENCE

This is something I've never expected to be so good! I came for the BL but the plot is adventure-driven. The characters are well fleshed out. The pacing is just delicious and the plot is exciting even though there are cliches and plot holes.

I've stayed away for a long time because of the reviews that talks about r*pe but FELLOW READERS WE DON'T JUDGE A STORY WE NEVER FINISHED. That's very noob of you smh. Btw r*pe is r*pe but the people are literally on salt era... more>> where their morality is very different to the modern ones since they don't have knowledge like we have. It's treated more as natural among tribes.
    • MC: A SOLID 5/5 (What makes him so interesting is that he's a scum at the very start and the system might have control over him but he doesn't let it take over his character unlike with other MCs)
    • ML: 4.5/5 (I honestly thought he would be more brawns and a little bit of brain but he's very sharp. He knew that the MC is just acting most of the times. Their dynamic is so interesting.)
    • Plot: 4.5/5 (I binged read and got addicted. It's never boring at all)
    • Character Development: 4.8/5
    • Relationship: 4.5/5 (they did not fall in love at first sight, it's realistic how MC become drawn to ML seeing as how he's just using him at the start)
    • Side Characters: 5/5 (Jiu Feng is my favorite, the bird is so hilarious. I love it lol)
    • Ending: 4/5 (meh, I want more explanation)
Review: A book that is reread material. I've read this over 3 times and was even more intrigued. Love this book <<less
