Tired of the schemes and strifes of city life, Bei Feng finally returned to his hometown in the countryside

While picking asters ‘neath the Eastern fence;

My gaze upon the Southern mountain rests;

Rearing a few chickens and ducks, I shall lead a simple and leisurely life!

However, who would have thought that fate would play a huge joke on Bei Feng? All kinds of magical items and beings of the Myriad Worlds could actually be fished out of the Ancient Well in his yard!

Even a chicken reeled out of the well ended up chasing Bei Feng all over the yard and beating him black and blue! Speechless and aggrieved, he asked the Heavens: if, that day, he’d fished out a Dragon instead of a chicken, what would’ve happened to him!

Don't waste your time with this novel. Author later on became very racist.

Starting out, the novel looks promising as the idea sounded very novelly and interesting. If only the author sticks to idea of the title then it would be good.

Yes, this is another typical Chinese template of cultivation fanatics. Some ideas are a knock-off of other novels like gourmet supplier, leveling/item game system, etc.

One moment the MC is in modern society and somehow the next is like Wuxia society are everywhere. Lame, is all I can say. If you... more>> have a billion dollars, what would you do? If you gain bunch of epic drops, of course this is excluding gamers, what would you do? Leave it to collect dust?

One last thought to put out. A scary one that is:

You live in a hot place where it's pretty warm at night and darn hot during the day. You killed a chicken then boiled it to remove the feathers and internals. There isn't a fridge to store it so you leave it overnight in open air in pretty warm temperature. Next day you travel 1/2 hour away to buy a fridge around noontime while the temperature is scorching hot. Come back later around the evening. Then cut off a piece of the chicken to cook to eat. Really? One moment you eat chicken like this and the next you're afraid of parasites and bacteria?

Author is a hypocrite and bad writer. Also a racist just like that one author who wrote Wicked Soldier King (http://www. Novelupdates. Com/series/wicked-soldier-king/). <<less

Started out light and fun. He was originally a nice dude like the MC from Cultivation Chat group but that didn't last long. He ended up like a psycho killer/arrogant ass-clown like the guys from the red packet series. Also this is kinda racist putting Arabs in there as rapist criminals and two random Japanese guys in there for the MC to kill even when they didn't kill anyone.

In short, started out fun and then turned to a typical Chinese series where the MC gains hella power and then gets... more>> corrupted and turns into a piece of tr*sh. <<less

The beginning and premise are interesting, but the MC is way too entitled. A guy harasses him, so he takes a revolver and tries to assassinate him. The bullet hits bullet-proof glass, so he begins the I-must-become-stronger cliche. At least other MCs have a decent reason behind their pursuit of strength, but Fishing in the Myriad Heavens' MC is impossibly to empathize him. I'm just reading for those funny little chapters about Bei Feng's (the MC) restaurant, but since after ~2 meals he inflated his prices by 100 times to... more>> cater to those rich martial artists, it doesn't seem I'll get any restaurant chapters.

PS: MC has the long-lost son of martial arts family setting, but no suspense there. We find out what happened the chapter something happened. Even MGA did a better job with the MC's background. <<less

2 out of 10 this novel sucks

Spoiler

So this novel starts ok and gives the MC a interesting cheat. He can use his fishing pole to fish out everything from a gigantic dragon monster to a futuristic robot. He can even manipulate the hook to snag cultivation scrolls, weapon, and more. We even get a bit of story relative to the world he is fishing in. I like this system but the author gradually phases it out as the character gets stronger. Now we don't get to see it very often.

The setting is in modern times but also has a hidden martial arts community that has been dwindling with the advent of modern weapons. There are no real problems for me with the setting but I wish the author would explain the levels of cultivation as we are left to piece everything together by ourself. The plot is all over the place as the author can't seem to make up his mind. Events are uninteresting and predictable and everything feels disjointed.

So the biggest problem with this novel is it's characters, more specifically the MC. To be honest he can be downright s*upid at times not to mention he has a god complex. There are several times where he says to himself not to make the same mistake again, then goes and makes the same mistake. He starts a restraunt but maybe the author realized it was a s*upid idea so the MC abondons it not to long after. As he gets stronger he starts to develop a sort of God complex which he himself recognizes. He even goes into the wilderness while sealing his cultivation to train because he has become too arrogant and aggressive, killing anyone who crosses him. After all that training he claims to have fixed his problem but goes on a killing spree only a few days after. The MC kills people even if he's in the wrong simply because they got in his way or they have something he wants all while the author treats him as some kind of saint.

The author is a blatant racist as every Japanese character that shows up is portrayed as arrogant, scum of the earth. There was one time where the MC slaughters these two Japanese guys even though they did nothing wrong. They merely challenged a Chinese diciple of some sect to an open and fair duel and won. The Japanese guy didn't even cripple or kill the Chinese diciple but nooooo. He humiliated the Chinese so he deserves to die right? It's not the last time something like this happens either. For some reason Japan's cultivators are much stronger than China's and it's the MC's job to mow down every one of them on sight. The author even has the other characters praise him as a man amongst men. Give me a flippin break.

In short the cheat is kinda interesting, the setting is nothing new, the plot is disjointed yet painfully predictable at times, the author is racist, other characters are their only to praise the MC or be cannon fodder and the MC is an a hole and an idiot with little redeeming qualities.

Poorest logic I have ever seen/read and here is why: When you fish, you have to tackle the fish and exert a force to fight the fish. The bigger the fish, usually, the amount of work needed is higher. In this novel, the MC uses no work, as in SI Units work (N), to get the item from the other world. In other words, the MC is fishing up super powerful beast with his human level strength and remember that he starts out handicapped as in workplace injury handicap.

You can... more>> also that the writer doesn't really check his logic. Even the translators write in the footnotes that the writer is improperly introducing characters and that the MC is carrying a big heavy satellite despite being handicap at the time <<less

Maybe this is only my premature review, but I don't see the reason that this novel deserves one star, as if someone didn't read it but gave it one star just for a giggle.

And no, icarusburnt, this novel has nothing in common with Heavenly Farmer, CCG or Red Packet Server. The protagonist just cast a line, reel somethings in and then ta-da! A giant ass chicken! A damn huge fish! A super badass cultivation technique! Yeah, nothing in common. If I have to say, it feels more like Gourmet Food... more>> Supplier (maybe the atmosphere).

Anyways, like the summary says, our protagonist got sick up the overly complicated city life (Wow, huge surprise. As if there isn't anyone who does.) So after he got sacked, Bye bye city b*tches! I'm going to the countryside. At there, he found a well, a magical well, which could not only fish out... well, fishes, but also chickens, magical equipments, and I suspect Shen Long when he hit level 9000 with a rod made of dragon's balls. Lol.

So yeah, there is nothing much to criticize about it. It's a good read for lunch break or before bed. <<less

It had an excellent start and was highly compelling, but slowly started rolling downhill and then became a landslide.

The idea of fishing for random items in his old well is a fresh take on the genre and very interesting to read, but each time he levels up his "fishing", he is restricted by being able to fish less and less. The novel slowly walks away from the whole fishing concept and starts to focus on the main world as if the author was regretting his fishing idea, which was really... more>> interesting tbh.

By chapter 200+, fishing has all but disappeared, and while I don't mind a modern day cultivator setting, this one is quite boring and just full of cliche. The next problem is the extreme racism to the Japanese. This author must absolutely HATE the japs, or he must be trying to cater toward those that do. Whenever Jap "cultivators" appear in the novel, they laugh while killing the Chinese and refer to themselves as the Great Japan. Here is an excerpt from the novel.

"Before him were the twisted bodies of several corpses, including a 16, 17 year old girl whose eyes were still wide open in death, as though she could not understand the reason she died."

The other Chinese are completely helpless in these situations and it's up to the MC and his bravado to step in and kill all the japs, inciting the warm feelings of all other Chinese. GDW racism was at least consistent and so bad I actually found it humerous (to not know whether to laugh or cry), this one though just comes out of nowhere and slaps you in the face.

all in all, it had a fantastic start, but crashed hard and from c200+ is not worth reading at all. <<less

Truth be told I read this one before it was translated by accident. From what I remember it was promissing. But somehow halfway through it kinda turned dark and lost its earlier innocence.

story wise its about a young man adopted by an old man tasked with guarding the ancestral home of a great clan. Fleeing from the hustle of city life and work power play, return home to the province to a quiet life andacquiring the great power of dimentional fishing :) yup fishing/stealing/kidnapping from another dimension hahaha well I... more>> read it before upto 250+ no romance from what I have read upto a part. Its a good story its just not for me. :)
Spoiler

MC pretty much started out innocent then somehow creating a special restaurant from the meat/animals he gets from the other side from chicken-salamander/lizard to a dragon then to stealing books, skills (breathing to even pill skills), clothes and even kidnapping a celestial (i think she was sorry mtl) even managed to get a three headed smart dog (well this dog kinda tried to take over the 2 dogs the MC was raising turned into a cerberus or as the mtls desscribe it) and somehow in the middle the cooking that I liked disappeared or less focused and moved to cultivation and treating his disciples (I think they where his disciples specially the loli well some of them.) and traversing the underground scene. Even meeting his father and being dragged to his clan affairs while trying to be aloof in the cultivation world. Some of the earlier character disappeared for a while or forgotten.

🌟🌟

this started out okay. Nothing ground-breaking nor excellent, it was enough as a way to waste time. But it went downhill from there.

my biggest gripes:

• the author likes to add plot points that he just discards willy-nilly. It feels like I'm watching a rough draft of a story at certain parts. The author doesn't really know where the story is going and every time he regrets adding an element to the story, he just makes an excuse to write them out. We just spent about 5-10 chapters focused on one... more>> thing for it to be deemed useless or impractical a few chapters later.

• what is the mc's motivation? You see him want to become stronger or gain more power but he doesn't really have an endgame. He wants to get more powerful just because.

• the characters other than MC have paper-thin characterization. To create a story wherein the MC face slaps everyone left and right, it makes a good chunk of the characters have illogical decisions or just outright toddler level iq. It makes everything so dull.

• the power level structure is a mess, to put it lightly

-the author clearly created a universe where the martial arts world is hidden from the mortal world but all the actions of the cultivators don't seem to coincide with that. This was supposed to have cultivators living in the shadows then how the f*** would you explain a rampaging mu*derous dragon.

the author didn't go into this with a clear idea and that idea became blurrier judging from how the story progressed. <<less

Someway along the way it lost it touch. It started off as a comedy as a guy just fishing and gaining random cultivation items from other world. But then fall down the s*upid cultivation in my world is large but somehow hidden.

at first they are rare to find, xiantian lifeform are rare, the next movement, hey I got myself a princess from another world that is YIN body you know, and I start to cultivate the Yin Type Attribute because EDGE. And turn out my father is also a GOD... more>> EMPEROR OF MAN KIND. Who knew. And and and there in the capital the forbidden kingdom is actually a gateway to hell.

The star is given to the translator ! He has enough courage and patience to translate the collection of bulsht Chinese 300 million words into somewhat-accepatable, decent English novel.

But no one could give me back my time !

If one have enough sparetime to waste on this crap fishy word collections instead of finding better novel, go ahead. That's all.

PS. Who had started this kind of other-world-garbage-cooking novel? Each one just copies plot, style, plothole, brainjunk, etc, from another junk writer before claiming his own !

I havnt read far but I feel that this is a really missed idea.

See the way I thought this would play out would be "I fished up an almost dead person from another world?!?! He cultivates in a manner of past Chinese glory?!? He didnt die and thanks me for his help with a pill to fix my half broken body (that stops getting referenced after chapter like 2 yet it might very well be cripplingly broken in a few years? crazy!) and give me a basic cultivation manual?!? AWESOME!".

From... more>> there its fairly laid back, catching things, cooking said caught things, sometimes catching a person and getting some help from them cause of timely rescue via fishing line.... but no. The author feels the need to make this into another f*cking cooking novel all because the MC is an orphan raised by some old man who died when he was in middle school, thus the MC knows simple home cooking thus by rights of owning a magical f*cking well that produces SSS rank ingredients that are perfect without the MCing needing to do, learn or practice any f*cking skill.

As the chapter read to shows, I am only on (not even done with) chapter 8 and the fact that its turning into a Cooking novel just feels like an atrocious idea and a large missed opportunity by the author. This could have been a great laid back cultivation novel instead of whatever the hell it turns into (probably face slapping, greedy and self entitled shittiness that most turn into) but sadly we shall never know because aggressive MCs are hotter than the steamy sh*t my dog just left in a neighbors yard so we wont be seeing a laid back cultivation novel about fishing in a well any time soon. Depressing really.

Back to reading to see if this goes to the dogs like I think it will. <<less

Like many others, I thought the beginning of the novel was a lot of fun with the fishing concept. Everything was going great until he started getting strong from cultivating for only a short amount of time. Then the novel turned into mostly cultivation while fishing becoming less and less. I don't know about others but I noticed the fishing background story started off with a chapter of brief world setting and the MC captures his target. But later on, they turn into 3-4 chapters of world setting before the... more>> MC comes in with his lure, which kinda annoys me.

The racist stuff didn't affect me since I don't really care about it but other readers might. I took a star off the rating for my dislikes but feel this novel is still kind of an interesting read. <<less

The mayor reason I like this novel is that it looks like author has no idea where is he going with it (beside powering up MC). So if author doesn't know I don't know either which makes it mismatched surprising read. Among advantages is also he may be really bad-ass on earth, but out there he's just small shrimp scavenging with his fishing pole. Protagonist is too realistic to be likable. Let's get real, power corrupts and most of us would turn into arrogant as*hole in such circumstances.

After reading this for a while, I have a few statements, the authors view on Japan and China national tensions and portraying it in this novel as every intrusion by Japan ends in the Japanese getting stomped which is a fairly understandable from a national view and patriotism so I'll let that go their presence doesn't serve any assistance to plot aside from a standard antagonist that pops up every arc where people congregate. Before you had a cast of interesting people with side stories that drove an overall plot... more>> from our Mystic team doing things to it being about the modern world affecting people. Now late in the game it is mainly MC centric universe with tons of side characters forgotten, and we have an arc that doesn't seem like it will climax anytime soon regarding the MCs parents. The fishing feature of this novel used to be vibrant now it is more or less a boring filler that serves as what the protagonist is eating for dinner. The previous supporting cast used to do things now they are just besides being there. The dog has done more work in the last 50 chapters than any other side character and has been more developed than any other side character.

overall this used to be great, but it's quality dropped. I wouldn't 1 star it but with racist undertones and bland, slow, very slow development you may get tired of it so my advice ignore it for a bit and then binge. Rinse and repeat.

I give this 3 stars since half of the novel is good the rest is average. <<less

Similar to cultivation chat group, heavenly farmer and red packet server. Downtrodden MC finds his luck changing after finding out the truth about his well.

Liked the first couple hundred chapters. MC is living relaxed yet slowly gets fierce and competitive, the reasoning is sound but gradually it strays away from this. The MC gets more unlikable as the series goes on and makes so many mistakes that are is bailed out by pure luck and it just becomes a generic MC striving to be as strong as possible, as fast as possible.

Ending: Weak and open-ended & 1 major plot point that is never addressed.

First half is like a 3-4 Star, Latter half is like... more>> a 2 at best. <<less

Interesting premise, but it's ruined by yet another psychopath MC.

Don't bother using words or rationality... just kill maim/cripple/kill people (mostly kill), for no particular reason than you don't feel like explaining anything. Which is apparently the perfectly rationale thing for a person in the modern world to do. If they annoy you... just go kill their entire clan.... why not... it's a sunny day....

Also, the 'side treks' get very very annoying....I started skipping chapters regularly.. it's like they are just there for filler and have nothing to do with the... more>> story...

Spoiler

Not really a spoiler but...

When he's fishing the author starts giving these short stories of all the things going on where he's fishing, complete with ever increasing backstories..... and they usually have almost zero to do with the actual main plot....

MAYBE he will eventually tie them all together... but I suspect he's just padding his word count....

It had a good premise and I really enjoyed the novel till around c1000 then sh*t went up. Author decided to write a new novel and started inserting crap in this novel.

I was expecting a reunion of MC and mystic moon but she wasn't even mentioned except once around c700.
