The day a mysterious darkness enshrouded the world. It was theorized that the earth’s magnetic field had been changed, the data that corresponded to it also changed. The previous academic knowledge had been overturned, and numerous things had to be re-explored.

The science that humanity was familiar with had been disrupted, including the genes of human beings. One of the largest disasters brought by the change was that 80% of humanity transformed into zombies. After years of struggling, a few lucky survivors would evolve and awaken a power inside themselves. Chu Han was never that lucky.

While holding on against the first wave, humans weren’t the only ones getting stronger. Soon, stage 1 zombies evolved into stage 2 then 3 and so on. 10 years after the mysterious meltdown, the world of man belonged to the zombies. Humanity was nearing the of the end of the eschatology.

One day, Chu Han consciousness came back ten years before the end of the world came. He was awakened by a loud noise in a dormitory in Minqiu University. With only 1 day to prepare before the meltdown begins, he slowly begins to realised that he had undergone a rebirth. A power was awaking inside of him now despite never appearing in the hellish future. It calls itself the meltdown system.

Despite losing the monstrous strength gained through years of harsh training, this system claims to trade kills for talents. This is a story of a collapsing world, a meltdown system, and Chu Han being on stage as he travels to save those he could not save before.

I don't really understand why is the rating so bad. I read this last year only to stop because I got busy with school but I'll tell you, THIS STORY IS GOOD.

It makes me question the interest of other people actually. Why can they rate stories where plots were repeatedly done and where MC acts like a psycho-Sex-Addict whose only mind is to find a girl or get a girl or all the girls in the world so high. Seriously, the story focused on him getting stronger and saving his... more>> PARENTS. HIS PARENTS you know what that means? He's not a son of a b*tch in heat. What I love about this novel is the MC is dead serious for his goal and yeah it takes how many chapter for a minor villain character to die, so what? I think the action is what it makes it good.

I admit that the author did write s*upidly, or that's how the translator makes it seems so, in the first hundred chapters but it gets good as one reads from chapter to chapter. I ended up MTLing chapter 90 up to 600+ and I think the translator just wasn't able to show the coolness of the story.

Some said that the MC should buy more provisions and loan cars blah blah blah. I think those are plots from apocalypse stories where the MC is super rich, has lots of connection where he could get a sturdy car which will not break while escaping, a magic storage room to store all those foods without them rotting and a powerful body from the get go. However, no one thought. He woke up a day before the apocalypse, he was anxious, he only have a thousand yuan on hand and would anyone believe him if he told them about the apocalypse that would happen the NEXT DAY? Crazy! He was a normal student before he woke up. I know it was s*upid not to search for a house where no people would dare to come but does he have time to find one? Do you know how hard is it for a student WITHOUT any connection to instantly loan a house? A car? A f*cking weapon that is legally available that he can buy as a student? It makes me wonder if the readers are living in a fantasy world where they could just get everything they want. And FYI, he did buy his weapon and protective covers. I felt s*upid after reading some comments that he should have bought an armour. Do you think he would be able to run with that? Let's say umm... A bulletproof, right? Brilliant! Amazing. Can you buy one instantly? Geez. The author was s*upid but commenting things like these are way s*upider.

You should read the part where he finally found his parents, he bulldozed his way to the place where they were locked up. It was so heart breaking. Haaay... Yet, only few people understood the essence of this story that it makes me so upset. <<less

The story is good, the MC is a real badass. He does not let the power go to his head and is instead worried about his family, The character development is also good. He has some cheats but they are balanced.

A very well written novel, currently waiting impatiently for the rest of it to get translated.

The apocalyptic storyline usually doesn't have good plot line which can be engaging, but this is where meltdown so far shines brightly. It has the perfect amount of gore and blood but just the right touch of emotion when needed. It is very hard to see such a delicately balanced work. The amount of effort put in by the author is commendable, hope this rhythm keeps on till the end.

cheers!!

I now have enough information to judge this book and write a review.

The plot I liked and it started off very interesting. I was originally going to give it a 5 star until I read the other reviews.

Reading them had me taken a second look at the novel.

... more>> A star was knocked off.

I realised this story is very repetive.

I like that the MC had a team that isn't full of extremely hot girls. (There are too many of those, already) But is there a reason why the girls on the the team are the only ones good looking?

Then there is the issue with his parents, its been 200+ chapters and yet he hasn't found them?

The MC first axe must be made of magic because there is no mention of him taking care of it to stop it from getting blunt.

Then the last problem I have with this story is that the Author never tells us how the MC hasnt become a zombie yet.

Didn't he take on a stage 2 zombie with his barehands once?

And how many times did he slash zombies and talk at the same time? Surely zombie bits would have invaded his mouth? <<less

This novel is honestly good, I understand at the start that the translation quality is bad but it does improve after a while albeit with some minor mistakes here and their. The actual story though is really good and I dont think it deserves all the hate that it is getting. If you honestly give it a chance and get past the intial bad translation quality I trust you will enjoy this story. Definetly worth a try!

Am shocked at how low the ratings on this story is, by right I wouldve given it a 4, but hey since people just giving shallow stars, why not a full five?!

Anyways, take my advice just read the story for yourself. I won't say anything about the story since it'll be hard to pick out whether the story is goo or not from the reviews even if I add in my own.

So just read it for yourself. You can drop it or continue it on your own, but please dont... more>> give a review if you havent read to c150, okay? Thank you <<less

I have been reading the translated chapters and I like the story follow ups. Side stories and Fillers doesn't last for more than 3 chapters and also occur rarely. I like the Calm Demeanor of Chu Han the most.

A bunch of bad-ass moments, but it is true that it lags a bit in some parts. But, when it gets going, it really does get good. And it does set itself apart from many other apocalypse novels, especially through the MC.

I really like the characterization of the MC. All throughout, his calm, efficient mannerisms doesn't change no matter what he's faced with. But it's those few moments that he shows his care for his companions, his idealistic hopes for humanity overcoming the apocalypse, and his main mission of reuniting... more>> with his parents that we really get to see what type of person he is. And he isn't like most other apocalypse novel MC's, since we see that he has very clear standards and a bottom line in what he accepts from other people. Otherwise, he's willing to take verbal abuse from others without really caring and he isn't one to just slaughter anyone who insults him. In that way, he does have the charisma and strength to attract more followers.

And all his friends/followers have their own interesting personalities and stories. I didn't feel in any way that they were just there to cheer the MC on, but were their own people with their own strengths contributing to the group.

Overall, I do understand why some people don't like reading this, so it's more of an acquired taste. Definitely recommend it though! <<less

it is a good book, the translation is not bad. The story put a twist to what moral standards should be. The MC kick ass, there is a little harem references, it just the story is a little lagging. I wish he finally get to his destination, instead this writer has the soul of a procrastinator that it's making the MC go through a series of unfortunate events... ?

The overall story is very interesting and nice. I just dont get why the rating is so low. But trust me, it's very interesting. The character is OP, and there's also a levelling up kind of thing. There's also some realistic thing (like how people will react if there's an apocalypse, e.g: eating other humans)

Seriously!?

Why so much hate and low rating for this novel?

I find the novel's story very interesting and fun to read. It's full of sad, intense, action-packed, gory and funny moments.

At least, I enjoy Apocalypse Meltdown much more than GDW, which had a good start but the author's paddling, repetitive arcs, racism and r*pe scenes ruined it...

I agree that its pace is slow because of some unnecessary dialogues and repeated phrases, but overall it's really good. Although it's slow, its plot is full of surprises.

Reincarnation, System, Zombies, Beasts, Cannibals, A talking rabbit, Dark and Gory scenes... What else do you want? ;P

If you love binge reading, then its best to start reading it after 300+ chapters.

Even the translation's quality has improved, which is rare for a novel! If you're one of the readers that dropped it because of its low translation quality, then bear with the chapters at the start, and give it another chance. You have nothing to lose. <<less

Why the vote so low? This is way better than epoch of twilight, where the MC is s*x addicted. This MC might become one later, but so far, he is still a virg*n Lol. The female lead all have its own strength and not one need to be pampered. He has a loyalty system that might lead to kingdom building soon, im looking forward to it. Although I think it doesnt make sense how quick he make people loyal, but I just put it as his cheat system power.

3 stars. Honestly, if you like overpowered protagonists, this novel is super fun and our MC definitely brings the OP we know and love... I don't know why there are so many bad reviews! At least, for the first 150 or so chapters, it's really good! This was my favorite novel for a while. If you want to pick it up, you'll enjoy it at least until the 150 chapter mark or so, because around then is where a new character is introduced and the story is ruined.

Read more to... more>> find out why... the story was great until...

Spoiler

... until the magical bunny sidekick showed up. I'm not even kidding. A magic bunny supports our protagonist, but wait there's more...

The magic bunny IS the meltdown system, in its purest, physical form... it can shrink and fit in his pocket or grow large enough for him to ride... people see him carrying around a cute bunny and are confused... sometimes a chapter is just him and the bunny talking about bullsh*t meltdown system this, or that... honestly, at one point for 4 chapters it's them having a conversation and how our MC treats the bunny like shit... I can't get any more confused, why was this bunny character was needed. It completely makes he setting and plot so much more unrealistic and like you're reading a spoof. I hate it now. I barely skim the updates, because you can't have a chapter without the bunny. It's dumb...

Good at the start but everything became less and less as the story when on. So many plot hole.

MC just showing off his strength and keep gaining loyal followers. Not much of challenging situation.

It is fine up until 171 when they randomly give the protagonist a cheat system on top of the zombie evolution system. Then you get bullsh*t character motivations, atmosphere wrecking bunny mascots, and cheap (er) Chinese boss villains with no development.

I wish read my own review before re-reading this again. But in any case, this is just a reminder that there are much more than 300 chapters translated. People no longer update the chapters on novelupdate due to money grubbers trying to shut them down.

I found this novel quite interesting at first, albeit a tad cliche. It starts out with this dude who travels back in time to just before the apocalype that hes lived in for 10 years, whos goal is to save his family and close friends from the apocalypse, which he couldnt manage to do before his time travelling. All well and good but most of the time it feels like this goal is forgotten. He stops every once in a while for all these little side things that most of... more>> the time have nothing to do with him, his personality is all over the place because at one point he'll act like a nice dude and go out of his way to save a group of strangers, and other times he'll just slaughter some people for calling him a**hole. Other than that, the side characters are largely bland, and his personal harem is growing with very little signs that itll ever stop. The translation quality is all over the place, where some chapters can feel like a professional job, and others feel like they're barely proofread mtls. This combined with the confusing writing makes a lot of chapters feel very abtruse with a lot of things going on that arent explained well enough. It feels like something happens all of a sudden with no lead up, and while that can be used as a story element itself for surprises, when suddenly the characters are in a different spot than before with no transitional period, it can get very confusing. <<less
