I'm not gonna focus on the technical aspect but just share my overall experience. I read this for the possible 'face slaps' and action but stayed for the amazing in-depth experience of Fang Zhao (the MC).

All 500+ chapters were well written and while the ending was good, it felt abrupt to me because I've read this novel and was hoping to know more (such as side stories related to the apocalypse.)

I really like the MC, he was true to his age and thoughts, and I really felt touched with... more>> his martyr personality and how he values the world. (Also he was OP as hell gO ZHAO GOD)

The arcs.. If I think about it the arcs were so random lmao but reading it, it didn't feel as so. The transitions and plot was well written and the ending scene was very fang zhao. I really hope there are side stories because I want to read more about the characters and stories. (Esp Zaro HAHAHAHAAJ) <<less

I think I won't be able to read other novels shortly after this. This is really dope. There is no romance, harem, just a hero. Also music plus action.

So my final evaluation is 5/5

I don't know what's wrong with folks. I guess that saying about opinions and chrysanthemums.

A truly wonderful relaxing yet interesting read. It's unique, complex, detailed but not overly so. The length is also appropriate. Ending? Upsetting but I absolutely hate all endings, this one I'm only upset because I didn't want it to end at that moment.

triggerk's review almost put me off this novel. They made it sound garbled mess without substance. The MC is complex and full of experiences. It's all connected and reasonable, the story may be about... more>> music but it's also about life and humanity's survival/advancement/expansion. Thankfully the masses can agree this was an outstanding read. <<less

this is a prime example of how every novel does not need a romance life.

I'm tired of the overused genres and authors who force it even tho they are not good at writing romantic development.

I'm still waiting for a novel like this one to come out again, no dog blood drama, no army of boring cannon fodders, just a slice of life MC who want to improve his life but not by stepping on other people.

... more>> I'm a huge fan of entertainment theme novels so this is a plus for me.

a con might be

Spoiler

looking back I feel even tho the MC is diverse in many fields, I feel like he isnt challenging himself in taking up more controversial roles

*Sigh* I want to sigh like the MC’s grandfather after finish reading this.

the good: Truly a selfless MC who’s awaken after 500 years. Many of his decisions made my (average) selfish self felt like it’s such a waste of not taking the profit. MC truly treasures humanity and the period of peace after the apocalypse. MC main profession was composer who also had military experience (due to apocalypse), but he also expanded his field to many other areas which made us feel intrigue. NO HAREM NO ROMANCE NO POTENTIAL FEMALE... more>> LEAD!
Spoiler

fields such as esports, acting, military

[collapse]

the bad: Because he tried out many fields, you’ll find yourself wanting to see the MC do more of other fields then find out that the MC will never go there anymore. There’s no 1 or 2 BIG climax for the story, it felt more like “MC and his OP life in trying various new experiences in the peaceful world after the apocalypse”, almost slice of life. There were still ups and downs in each section (I’ll divide sections by the MC occupation at that moment), but because MC is calm and OP, there’s no drama and feeling torn in decisions. The ending feeling was like “MC is looking forward to the future of mankind”, which is ok but I wish that other people knows who MC actually is.

Personally I don’t like slice of life genre, but each section of this novel is still very fun. Many parts where MC show OP felt satisfying.

I’ll give it a 4.5/5 deduct point for not having a strong climax point. <<less

Probably, one of my favorite novels so far. It is different but also simple at the same time. I love how the author created a whole universe and plot for the novel. The creation of his version of a new world is really thought thoroughly. I love to see a new story in the same world he has created because I could see how he put a lot of effort in creating it. The only problem I have is how the author just didn't took the great opportunities to tackle... more>> in his military life in the past and even in the present time. I am quite fond of it. The author added snippets of his life in the past but didn't really go into it deeply. And he also avoided telling how well did the protagonist go in his first ever mission in the present time. He also didn't tackle the T organization that much when I was expecting this enemies to have a big impact in the story. It is more focus about how great he is in every field in entertainment industry. The protagonist is an OP character for sure but was never portrayed that much. In the last chapters of the novel, it is more focused on his dog, Little Curly Hair, to introduce a new chapter in the world. It also ended abruptly, for me, atleast. The author put effort on the characters' personalities and the world plot. It was fascinating but I think he wasn't able to use this effort much. Lastly, I just wanted to say that I wanted extra chapters for the past life of Fang Zhao where this OP character could be useful. All in all, it was a great novel that made my mind imagine to its limit. Recommended for sure. <<less

i re-read this as the novel is almost done being translated and I must say that this is really one of the most interesting novel that i've encountered so far. this novel has various industries mixed in it like the music, e-sports, film, military and etc... but it did not seemed chaotic, it was entertaining and fun to read instead. highly recommended.

Definitely a worth reading novel. Its more of a slife of life of Fang Zhao who reincarnated after 500 years of New Era.

Its funny how everyone else keep reminding him to be calm, humble etc but Fang Zhao's soul is old enough to be calm at all times and there is that symphony thing playing inside his head??? He is not your typical MC who is attention seeker. He is the type that prefers being in the background but others keep pulling him to be in the frontline?? He just... more>> wants to enjoy his second life.

And the story is good. It doesnt focus on just composing songs. Its a differnt story each arc. Like the music arc, gaming arc, and military arc... Definitely worth reading tho I wish there will be exciting an arc. I mean the story is good but it doesnt have the blood boiling arc that excites the reader. I want some bloody actions or some romance. I dont care just make it exciting enough to keep the readers reading??

And Zaro is definitely likeable character? I cant stop laughing everytime he appears??? he is my favorite side chara??? <<less

I’m pretty sure everyone has already read this before, but here goes (this explanation has a bit about the backstory) :

The world was ending. He original population of 8 billion had turned into 80 million, and plants, animals, and humans alike mutated to become halbringers of death. It became a international war—no matter what your profession was, you were drafted to become a soldier for the nation, to fight the mutated beasts that roamed the land. Though this, 12 generals emerged to turn the tide—the 12 martyrs. After 100... more>> years of fighting, the period of devastating war came to be known as the Period of Destruction. In the aftermath, Global leaders formed a single alliance of 12 continents. Life flourished once again, and the 12 martyrs were honoured every year by the people they had liberated.

Our story follows Fang Zhao.

He was one of the 12 martyrs, and also one of the most famous. However he died right before the war ended, and reincarnated into the body of another Fang Zhao, 500 years into the future. Through memories, he learns that this 23 year old composer (both Zhaos’ profession) lived in an era of peace and prosperity because of the martyrs. Being the sensible man that he was, he integrated himself into the life of the recently suicidal composer, and quickly brought him to fame.

our MC IS GREAT!! He isn’t arrogant or annoying, and is calm like a rock. Literally. Basically, nothing fazes him, and he has mad talent. Because he had fought in the war, Fang Zhao had the best martial arts, judgement, and technique in the entire world, but carefully hid it to not expose his identity. Lots of people tell him to not get too full of himself, but that never even happens anyway.

my favourite arc is probably he gaming one. A game came out, based on the period of destruction. Everything was simulated, including the living conditions. Naturally, Fang Zhao unleashes his inner demon and kills everything (which was funny because everyone thought he was the artsy type) and is hailed as gaming god.

I also liked the military one—he destroys a lot of things.

however, the irony of the current one is beyond amusing. People are making the tv series of the century, and it’s practically a completely accurate documentary of the... you guessed it.... PERIOD OF DESTRUCTION!! and Fang Zhao is cast as his old self, general Fang Zhao. It was soooo funny for people the think, ‘ wow He’s so similar to general Fang! It’s like he knows him!’ I just can’t—

overall, this is a good read. There’s some informations dumps that are not necessary, and the pace is a little slow, but it’s all worth it when Fang Zhao’s killing intent comes out! <<less

An awesome novel by Lazy Cliche. His novels are generally really good, and I'm not disappointed this time either.

The story's quite upbeat, but is also elegant and descriptive. The musical descriptions aren't boring to me. I almost know nothing about music, but the novel is interesting. I've experienced a variety of emotions from reading the novel: happiness, amus**ent, and a bunch of heartfelt emotions. The characters in the novel may not be the most deep, but they are clear and memorable. There's a variety and they're interesting.

MC's pets aren't annoying... more>> either. They're cool. No romance so far. The amount of faceslapping isn't too excessive, but there's a lot. The hype is nice. The MC is the calm and mature type; he acts his age.

The novel isn't just about music; the MC explores other areas as well. The translator's comments at the bottom are amusing to me, and the translator often emphasizes that the MC is godlike. The MC is overpowered, but you can tell that he still has room for growth.

By the way, I really like Zaro, haha. <<less

I read this all in one go and read the daily updates about as soon as they come out really :)

It's a pretty good fic, Fang Zhao (MC) always does something rather unexpected but not completely unbelievable and it builds off his knowledge from a past life and his composing skills (and general music related skills) really well.

It's very slow paced though

It reads fluently. Superb translation quality, great musical descriptions despite not being so technical, every trope (such as the reincarnation cheat or face slapping) is implemented in a somewhat modest and appropriate way. The characters are all somewhat realistic, no real infuriating illogical characters out there. Occasionally great comedy. #shepherdlife

The story is one dimensional. It's about the protagonist and he's great at everything. Well, it should have sides to it other than music but... Character development for the protagonist and side characters? World building? Not all that great. No real... more>> antagonists, no tension? Check.

Probably the worst novel by this author, Chronicles of the Primordial War and Star Rank Hunter are better.

Somewhere between 2 and 3, I enjoyed some of it so it'll be a 3. But not a wholehearted one. <<less

Really reminds me of I'm really a superstar, but SOT is better in my opinion. SOT (so far) does not have the overly excited crowd bashing and cheering (wasted words to take up space and word count by ImRaS I feel). Also so far SOT has no s*upid overly s*xual harem encounters.

Though perhaps SOT lacks some romance. Also if you are a composer - shouldn't you be writing some music? Though I like the whole dog story.

edit: PS I realized that the "second chance" type stories I enjoy the most... more>> is when the MC was Somebody in their past life. Regardless of a job and way of dying - the past life as a whole for me has to have some meaning. SOT has that, so despite its own little quirks I find it enjoyable and I am waiting for every chapter. <<less

It feels good to dream of being successful and to flip over the table to your way. This novel just did that, just like any second chance novel. I enjoy it so far, untill the MC begin to change his occupation to not only be musician, but also farmer. This jack of all trades seems going to make the hype become linear. I feel dissapointed with it, but lets see.. Just like Aria comment stated before, what this novel need is actually a good antagonist.

It's a nice break from all those face slapping CN novels. This novel is more along the lines of mic drops for major events, which makes it refreshing and fun to read. It doesn't feel overly done as our MC is pretty down to earth.

The pacing is steady and there aren't any characters (other than maybe one at the very beginning) that make readers want to just kill. Everyone seems... sensible. There is some slight comedy, totally no romance, and enough tension to keep the story interesting. The descriptions are... more>> good too. I imagine the music to be like songs from RPG games along the lines of Final Fantasy, just skip to the 1:30 mark and pretend the people are trees. - https://www. youtube. com/watch?v=39j5v8jlndM

If I were to describe the story as an object I would describe it as a reliable go-to comfortable sweater.

Very much recommend the story. <<less

The story is very unique and interesting. But its suffer from a very OP MC which has no short coming.

The story progress very fast from being a newbie composer to famous then it completely wear off to online game then military? I mean, no wonder it has slice of life tag. This story does not have main plot for our arrogance MC, as expected of Chinese web novel, an open end. World building is quite nice, the author took time to explain tiny aspect of any place and back ground... more>> story. Our MC does not have any noteworthy companions apart from his dog with all side characters are there to only follow MC order and give him an impression of being a leader.

Talking about his music, the author took time to give out description to the best of his ability, an excellence choice of word, even though some meaning was lost due to translation. I recommended to open LOTR: Two Towers as Ents storm Isengard to get the vibe of his song.

Alas, with future hanging on an invisible plot line I can only give it a solid 4, no more than that. <<less

This story is fine as aslice of life story, but falls flat as anything else.

The MC is overpowered and his character is as flat as a plank for example he doesn't have any real habits from the apocalypse and adapts to the peaceful times instantly.

It's OK as long as you don't think to deeply about the story.

This is one of my favorite novels from the same author as "Chronicles of Primordial Wars". Usually, I avoid stories with a showbiz/entertainment background, but this one is very unique. The background of this story is not only about music but also games, acting, military, and others.

The MC is very interesting, I quite like the character. The development of the world is also quite good. Music is the main theme, not singers but composers. Even though there are some parts that in my opinion don't make sense, it's delivered pretty well.

My favorite character besides MC is Curly Hair (his dog). Very cute and adorable as well as scary. No romance at all (no-CP). And the ending is quite satisfying, not too hasty.

Genuine A+, a grade that rarely seen in Chinese modern webnovel. The MC has a brain and knew how to use it. Most of decisions is logical, and responses also inline. Fantasy at its crips. Okay, there also some drawbacks, but who would genius enough to fill it in solo. Unfortunately, the ending is too rushed as a slice of life-type novel. No romance is also an ambiguous value, some would love it just like that, others may crave for more.
