An internet troll who wanted attention, the reader criticized his favorite web novel, saying: “The protagonist is dumb and the author is s*upid.”

Author: “…Got it.”

Unfortunately for him, the author actually listened to his (troll) feedback. The formerly lighthearted tale of a cute harem master suddenly became super dark and edgy. The reader could only helplessly look on as the protagonist was abused and betrayed, finally embarking on the road to becoming completely evil. Everything was a mess!

After that the reader transmigrated into a strange world. How come the person in front of him looks like the protagonist (evil undead version)? Just what is going on?!

Note: Du Zhe (读者 meaning Reader) and Du Ze (杜泽 the character’s name) sound almost the same

One of best BL novel I ever read. Because of this gem novel, I started to read Yaoi novel. This is funny and amazing novel. MC transmigration into book that he read. Male Lead is so pitiful, unlucky who is betray by his harem and friend.

I love most is MC and male lead fluffy, sweet relationship. This is first yaoi novel that I read. I am happy that I give it trying.

This is really good ㅠㅠ) the world building, the plot, the characters and the way everything is described is just so! good! Huge kudos to the translators for their amazing job ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ ?

A deaf MC with severe myopia, as someone who's nearly blind and nearly deaf, it's really refreshing to see a character like Du Zhe! Not only that, but the story itself was great. Fun characters and interesting storyline (the excerpts from Mixed Bloods was also a great bonus! I thought it was nice to know how those scenes happened in the original plot..)

Some people may not like how it's kinda slow at times, but it was perfect for me. It wasn't going too fast or tooo slow. I love how the translators conveyed their emotions too... ugly sobbing..... this is definitely something I'd reread again and again ㅠㅠ I hope they would sell merch lolol <<less

I really liked this one. I wanted to give it 4.5 stars because it is good. I laughed and got anxious at parts. However I might reread it in the future but it's not one I'm going to reread hundreds of times. The story is engaging but slow at times.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and would happily recommend it to others to check it out. :D

I want to also thank the translator for their hard work! The translations was wonderfully done, along with the commentary, explanations, and pictures.

The ML and MC were very adorable <3 and went through their shares of ups and downs, you can't help but cheer for them to have a Happy Ending <3.

Well paced and not confusing at all, I’m so grateful their names weren’t in chinese because my chinese is so awful I’ll forget everyone’s name in a day. This is absolutely amazing, and you should definitely give it a try. The romance is developed in a very lovely way, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading how the ML slowly fell in love, in the MC’s eyes.

The MC is so funny and god do I love the doujinshi. The plot is easy to follow, and actually really interesting!

A bit slow paced romance but nice development on their relationship. *** Scene is so hot. The cute MC and yandere ML is same but also kinda different from other BL story so that's what hook me to read the story. Give it a try, maybe you'll understand its charm..

At first I was vaguely interested, gradually I started to like it and bit by bit I couldn't stop or leave it alone. Before I even realize what was happening, I was already in love...

The novel flowed like water, there was never a dull moment (not for me) and the author knew how to keep you on your toes. If you pay attention, close enough, you've read this type of story a lot of times. A bit from this and a bit from that, those bits and pieces thrown together... more>> was supposed to create chaos but it turned out beautifully.

The main characters were both simple and complex, a total contradiction. Just when you think you finally grasp what they're thinking, they leave you in the dust with a resounding 'ha-ha'. The plot was intense, not just the story itself but how it developed, matured. You could sense the author's naughty sense of humor with how he throws the characters on a loop and the genius of it is, it keeps you wanting to read more.

The length is not too long nor too short, it was just right. This is third translated novel I read from this site but it's the first one I had the strong desire to give stars to and compose a few flowery for because if I don't, I feel like I won't be able to let go.

This has been an amazing experience, I hope others would take the time to dive in and explore this world. As for me, I'm ready for a new adventure, this one sided love will probably last for a while and I would come back to take a peek once in while just to be sure I wasn't imagining the feeling that I feel right now.",) <<less

QAQ WHAT CAN I SAY! EVERYONE already make it clear how good this is and I dont usually give long review anyway. So I will go to the point.. This is a romance story but plot heavy and great leading to the end where everything make sense. I have to contribute somehow to make this story rank higher afterall, to show how much I love this story! Not reading this is a missed golden opportuniy

Honestly, this is the first Chinese BL novel that I've read. Near the ending, about chapter 70+, I took a break reading it because it started to get a little boring for me. But because I had a principle of finishing stories, I thought to myself, "Hey, it's not like it was bad, you just got bored." And boy, oh boy. That was the best decision I've made. This novel now holds a special place in my heart, and honestly, there were times where I would miss this. I would... more>> come back here just to read my favorite chapters, and then I start reminiscing of the day where I never knew anything about BL and Chinese novels. This was the one that made me start reading different novels, and NovelUpdates became the no. 1 website I would always open all the time.

TL;DR

This novel is so f*cking good it made me interested in Chinese Novels. Honestly, I think Chinese Novels has the best BL stories. I love everything about this story, the pacing, characters, even the comedic undertone that was keeping the novel's seriousness low. It would seem humorous, but once the pieces are together, you'd begin to feel just how tragic it truly was for our ML.

I'd definitely recommend if you're new to these kind of things, and I hope you'd also love it! <<less

This must be the first Yaoi novel I have ever read (it made me blush more than once, and some parts were even a little awkward to read), so perhaps my review won't be that satisfactory.

I enjoyed reading this novel. The main characters are very loving of each other and kind of cute. It also has some funny moments and others full of angst. So it is well balanced.

It is a good read to pass the time if you like romance.

Even though I, shamefully, didn't read the most breath-taking heart-pounding... more>> parts of the novel (my heart wasn't prepared), the romance in the novel was well transmitted and the characters likable. Can't really say it is the best romance novel I ever read, but it was certainly the first Yaoi novel I ever fully read and it was cute. <<less

This is my first time reading that type of ending where the novel characters actually realize they are in a novel. Wow. Rated it 5 stars just for that.

The bad thing is that the author seems to have forgotten or neglected the side characters during the very last arc. I mean I really wanted more of my favorite ones.

This is honestly a pretty weird story. The reader is cute and acts silly while the protagonist is yandere. It's an unconventional love story. Don't take it seriously too much. This is a comedy most of the time.

As for the love development it's not fast. The reader saves the protagonist 's life and helps him out when he was an outcast hated by everyone.

great read, I recommend it!

Loved this story!!!! I have read it several time already. I mean I am not sure what else to say that hasn't been said already by readerz, Narutolvr, Painkiller, and Rosy122333. It was a fun read that had a more realistic romance than some of the other BL novels. I will probably be back to read it again for the nth time.

Worth every second I spend reading it. I love every interaction between the two leads. The comedy is just right and the romance fills you up. None of the characters strayed and remain true with their characterization.

Xiu's words sometimes tugs the heart but the trust and love between the leads is too awesome for words. The two of them just balances the other and I'm happy that Xiu knows his limits

It's a great novel and I feel that "great" is even an understatement.

Though I'm not used to the writing format of the author (it was informal type), I gradually enjoyed it.

I love to see Du Ze's thoughts and how dense he can be.

... more>> Honestly, this is one of the best CN I've ever read. It has everything I need -- romance, comedy, drama, action, adventure, and smut ^//^.

I am very satisfied with the ending, though I'd hate to part with this novel yet. I want more extras... T_T

I need more Du Ze and Xiu moments!! <3

My favorite scenes would be the *ehem* love scenes *ehem* and the last few chapters where Du Ze was about to leave Xiu. It was heartbreaking yet a beautiful moment.

I also like the part about Jack the Thief and his lover (forgot the name).

This is such a beautiful the story, the ending was so beautiful and full of irony, God I love it so much.

i feel so sad that it’s ended, but the extras were nice. The last extra was a real conundrum.

I really recomendid this story', couse this is sooooo beatiful and good story, at least, we not gonna boring and always feel excited for read more, more, and more~~

Probably one of the best BL novels out there. I can't even begin to describe how great this novel is. All I have to say is that you should read it, even if you're not a big fan of BL, you should give it a try, and it'll open up a whole new world! (Quite literally)

If you do try to read it, I hope you enjoy as much as I did~

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! It's such an amazing book and the translator did such a good job too! I HIGHLY recommend this book to everyone. This is actually the first review I've ever written. I'm not very good at writing them, but after reading this book I just HAD to!!

The plot, the romance, the characters--everything is just so amazing!! Also, that cute plot twist at the end *squeals*

I cannot stress enough how good this book is!! 100/5 stars!!!
