This is a very short story in one go but it is very... sad.

If we think about it, in the chaotic times or perhaps the wars that is currently taking place in the countries, is a very difficult and tragic period of time for many people.

Many of us daughters lose our fathers, many of us sisters lose our brothers, many of us mothers lose our sons and many of us wives lose our husbands. Just like this Feng Yi, the male lead and Jing'er, the female lead, they lived isolated from the world living in a peaceful atmosphere and tranquil environment. Both of them thought, they will accompany each other until their hair turns white but they were born in chaotic times after all and Feng Yi, was devoted to his country and was a very kind person and went to the battlefield.

Jing'er wanted to stop him but how could she stop him, who loved his country. And Jing'er was also pregnant and was anxious, which was not good for her health. She got some letters from Feng Yi and was relived but the last one destroyed all her hopes.

The content of the letter was their country won the battle but.... Feng Yi was gone.

But Jing'er waited for him for the rest of her life.

I wrote this from Jing'er point of view:

The beautiful maple leaves,

I am waiting for him

When will he come?

He once told me to wait and he will come to me,

But where is he?

Oh, the lovely maple leaves can't you tell him that my door is still open for him?

Feng Yi, when you sent me the letter,

I sank into the world of despair.........

But I still sat quietly at my door for a long... long while.

My crystal clear tears filled my eyes as they dropped like rain....

Feng Yi, what are you making me wait for like this?

Ah, how hurtful of the maple leaves... penetrating the deepest part of my heart, shattering the last bit fantasy I had

Very sad, I feel like crying so much. Sobs...S-obs.

Beautiful for a short story, albeit tragic. Not really attached to the characters to be deeply affected by the ending, but still felt a pang for the MC. A good read if you want to read something under 5 minutes and something on the more serious side than usual.

This is a good book.

I hated it when the other girl told her that her husband is dead. I know that she's just telling the truth but I just hated it. Maybe I also can't accept the fact that her husband died.

Read the rest of the stories of the author, it will really make you cry.

Although it has a very predictable end, the story was crafted so beautifully and the ending is so painful, remarkable and bittersweet. Love both MC and ML.

ʕ ಡ ﹏ ಡ ʔ Bruh... this almost brought me to tears if I wasn't in a public place... it's quite a sad yet beautiful which depicts the story of a normal woman waiting for her hubby to come back from war. It's highly recommended to bring some tissues if you're to read it.

A little too short to tug on the heartstrings effectively but still sad and pretty.

Quite sad, but the short length makes it so the tragedy doesn't drag on. Good if you're looking for a quick read with some sadness. I liked how it showed how regular citizens are negatively affected from war through the perspective and story of a regular woman. We often read about war through the soldiers' experiences on the battlefield or the people in power, so it's nice to read about it from a more humble lens.

While I do wish our MC had more of a life outside of her husband, the context and length of the story showed how that wasn't quite possible I suppose. Just sad for her and her child (╯︵╰,)
