Qinghe-junzhu Gu Shengyin died. She was a first class beauty and her name could move the world, but she still lost to the hands of a woman inferior to her. Gu Shengyin was only able to understand after her death that she was overthrown by the antagonist of the heroine, a cannon fodder.

In a pure white space, Gu Shengyin was expressionless after the transmigration.

System: “The heroine must change her fate, must fight against cannon fodder and the antagonist to preserve her existence. As the female protagonist, you are their biggest obstacle.”

Gu Shengyin’s eyes flashed as she revealed a peerless smile, “Then let me see who is the stumbling block that will be trampled on and who is the final winner!”

I've finished three arcs of this novel. I like the fact that they're not longer than 30 chapters each (so far). It's just enough to enjoy each story without dragging.

The translation reads smoothly, though it's sometimes obvious that it's an MTL when I see certain word choices. The translator has yet to earn the MTL's black belt. In any case, I think readers mostly won't be confused reading the translation, so it's safe to proceed. It didn't bother me (as a proud black belt wearer) since I went and MTL'ed... more>> further into the novel anyway.

The first two arcs are pretty similar, leading me to think each arc was going to follow a similar formula, but the third arc proved me wrong, so points for that.

The female lead is a bit of blank slate. I can't catch her character yet. She adapts to the host's original character, but very little is shown about her inner world, at least to me. She's more reactionary. She makes mistakes sometimes, though they further the plot, so I excuse that as the author's necessity. But still, she's not annoying to read about even with my picky standards. She's not s*upid or naive or innocent, but more calm and reserved.

The male lead (s) is the doting type who chases his wife. The romance develops quickly, but it's also satisfying in its progression. There are some hints here and there as to why, but I'm not going to write my guess here and possibly spoil this for anyone.

I'm currently enjoying the novel, it's easy to read and entertaining. Hopefully, things won't derail later on. For the first three arcs, it held my attention quite well, so I'd rec this for people who like QT (quick transmigration). <<less

The good part: The female lead is cute, interesting and lovely, the male lead is gentle, strong and handsome. The worlds change every 25-30 chapters, so there are many settings.

The unfortunate part: The female lead might as well be an object. From her 'families' and 'suitors' to her ML, everyone is dying to make sure she is happy and comfortable (except her enemies, who never succeed anyway). Even when she is in extreme danger, she remains passive and waits for a saviour. Her whole existence in the novel can be... more>> summarized with the conversation in chapter 17 (minor non-plot related spoiler) :

System: "Host, someone had already made a counterattack for you. (...) In this world, you only need to be quiet, and become a beauty who is doted on."

I considered dropping this early on but stuck with it after reading the reviews. It's a quick and easy read. The chapters are short. There's no problem reading through an arc in a single sitting.

Although the idea of an MC counterattacking the canon fodder's counterattack is somewhat interesting, the novel so far is generic and lacking originality. The characters are completely flat and seem to exist only for the plot. None of them thus far are interesting in the slightest. This novel has yet to stir up any emotion with... more>> me, whether it's feelings of wanting to support the MC or take down a villain. The romance is weak, and I can hardly ship the main pairing.

This series isn't terrible, but it doesn't have any strong points thus far. <<less

I'm thoroughly disappointed with this novel. Author literally recycled their first two arcs just with different timelines. The romance between main characters sure is cute but baseless, ML fell for her after their first brief meeting and proposed to her on their second meeting. The pace on how he makes moves on her is ludicrously quick and that can't convince me that he loves her or she loves him for any particular reason other than superficial ones or based on curiosity or infatuation. I though the first arc would act... more>> like a prologue but as the second arc went down the same way as the first, dry, bland and boring the events with action is distilled in the way it's narrated and it's not a translation issue. The author refuses to linger in the important moments more than two sentences...

MC is also down right s*upid, she is never on guard against antagonists despite having a system telling her of what happened in the original plot lines. Her job isn't even an active one, her ML and system are doing all the job for her. All she had to do is putting on airs... Act fierce but the next second she lets down her guard right away for cannon fodders to counter her... Without the ML she'd be long dead and that golden finger, ML, wasn't even hard to seduce!! A true flower vase MC.

I will keep reading and see if anything will change, review and rating will adjust accordingly but so far, I really had to vent. I'm not the type to write reviews at such an early stage in a novel but this one forced my hand. (c47)

edit:
Double the volume of what I've read so far later.... from c47 to c98, still NOTHING going on, MC is rivaling a normal cup of water in blandness and to those who digress with that statement, I'd just say... point of a couple of things that's special about MC or why ML would fall in love with her. THERE'S NO REASON FOR THAT WHATSOEVER.
She's expendable, replaceable downright non-essential for the story as its OWN protagonist.... Author lacks essential knowledge of story telling that you'd learn in the 5th grade and the high rating for this novel simply eludes me. The main focus as before, is the romance between ML & MC.
For a romance novel, you require some heart throbbing moments, build ups and just generally show their point of view of each other to the reader from time to time.... aaaaaand author managed to miss ALL of these points. It feels like author is just typing down whatever's coming across their mind, like foreshadowing that's not being followed up or misleading characteristics.
For example in the first chapter, system felt that this host will be tough as nails towards her enemies in terms of revenge n face slaps (and author enforces it later on again to the audience thru the system's POV), only ending up with always a damsel in distress MC that needs her knight in shining armor to save her from every single altercation.
Apart from failing to deliver the main point of the story, you know, the entire premise of MC's entire purpose nullified thanks to the existence of ML, author's writing is like a wandering mind, from one scene like showing MC off to another where MC's suddenly facing off against somebody or in trouble out of the blue, it often feels like there's a chunk that's missing and that keeps happening!!
My view of this novel is already at the rock bottom, hope dies last, will update again once the novel completely translated....

EditEedit; I suspect this novel's author of plagiarism... The arcs match one of the QT novels out there to a T (I did read a lot of QT novels but never have the resemblance been this strong) "quickly wear the face of devil"'s arcs have been ripped off by this author and you know what they say.... The first time it's coincidence, the second time it's happenstance, the third time it's enemy action. -Ian Fleming... And as badly as this novel's written I have no doubt author tried to pull up some references to keep writing.... <<less

If you like light and sweet novel. You will like it. Arcs is okay and some were boring. But it's not my favorite. ML is so boring and MC is too s*upid to fall in trap of enemy. There is some arcs where ML actually give MC to his father, it's heartbreaking for MC, which make me feel disgusting for ml. ML is low quality male lead that you will find in non cp world hopping where MC beated him out.

It's one of those counterattack system novels.

(well in this case she's a heroine who's counterattacking the canon fodders counterattack?)

Welp

... more>> The first few arcs are mundane and with basic plots you see everywhere. But it's not too bad. It's still above average lol.

But later on my gosh it gets so good. The plots aren't so basic anymore. The arcs later on made me feel things bro. I cried at a few of them.

+ each arc is not that lengthy so you know that there isn't much of that unnecessary bullsht to increase word count.

The romance is pretty nice. It's dependant on the mini plots. They don't have fixed personalities so it's refreshing each time.

Major plus point would be the fact that the male lead isn't always that perfect big boss golden thigh. It's great.

Spoiler

mpreg tag needs to be added he he

It's a good read. I read 700 chapters in a go today lol. <<less

Really really mediocre.

First of all the concept is ridiculous; "the cannon fodder character overturned the main character so go back in time and help the main character win". What does the main character in these types of stories symbolize? They symbolize strength, ie. Our MC transmigrates into characters that are OP at the start and now OP to the finish too. Side characters basically never had a chance, although somehow MC always gets into one "life-threatening" situation per arc whether it makes sense or not.

I like the personality of the... more>> ML since although they also have some yandere possessive traits, this ML actually treasures MC. However, I still feel like ML falls too fast; it makes sense for MC to fall for him since it's the same person but on the ML side it doesn't really make sense. The relationship is also pretty boring tbh; blah blah and then they have a legendary romance known throughout the world until they die.

All in all a waste of time in my opinion. <<less

This novel is really for those who don't get bored easily and love clichès.

The translation is very good but sadly the content of the novel itself is kinda disappointing. It is very bland and as a person below me said, the MC is very OP in a very boring way. You can predict her every move and there isn't much angst or substance to the arcs, just the slight intrigue at the beginning and then everything happens all at once.

Spoiler

In arc 1, the ML sees the MC like maybe 6 times before he falls in love with her (and we get little interactions, basically love at first sight which is not very stimulating for us since after that everything progresses fast).

The 2nd arc is the same, but now this man instantly falls in love with her after meeting her at a party and he then defends her everywhere. Also I don't like the fact that she was still a minor, I know it happens in a lot of novels and usually the MCs are even younger, but it still doesn't mean it's okay :))

[collapse]

Anyways, the novel isn't extremely bad - but it's very bland and boring that's why I can give it a maximum 3 stars. <<less

Overall Impression: Simple and Lovey-Dovey

Summary: This is a system novel with the MC traveling to different worlds to change the fate of cannon fodders. Right off the bat, the MC and ML basically fall in love at first sight and from then on, the ML is a faithful dog that follows the MC to each world where they get together and live happily ever after. The scenes between the MC and ML are so sweet that all single dogs will weep and wallow in envy.

Each arc so far is a... more>> happy ending with the MC and ML living till old age together in each world. The MC encounter very little to no challenges or difficult situations, and even when she does, they are resolved almost immediately with the op-ness/plot armor of the MC and ML.

Compared to all the other high-strung drama filled roller coaster novels, this novel is more mellow, simple, and lovey-dovey. The main couple doesn't need to go through any tribulations, it's all mainly fluff and sugar. I highly recommend this novel as a break from drama-filled romance novels. This story is a easy and relaxing read, a great way to pass the time! <<less

At early chapters, it looks generic. ML falling in love for a shallow reason. MC, idk. The MC don't even have a redeeming quality at chapter 10. Maybe it was because the novel's MTLed, but it really feels lacking.

----will rate again after chapters piled up.

Still, kudos for the effort of the translator.

(In all honesty, this story deserves only 2 stars, and that's stretching it. But I really appreciate the translator's efforts, so I gave one more star than I really felt the story deserved!)

This story is something you should read if you're looking for something light, not very deep, and easy to read through.

In my opinion, this story is very hollow. In each arc, the MC barely struggles and is always so OP compared to her opponents that it gets boring after the third arc or so. And her... more>> personality is of the typical 'cold and unfeeling' female lead who barely speaks or shows any emotion beyond disdain - which makes her extremely dull to read about. There's nothing that makes me want to root for her, beyond a slight curiosity to see what she'll do. I know why she starts barely having emotions, but since there's no development in her character, she just becomes something close to a robot and a character that I can't relate to.

Also, every other character is either a trope or so flat, they barely have a personality and are so hard to remember. Which I guess is the downfall of Quick Transmigration stories - I can understand having so many arcs can make it hard to develop unique characters for each, but when even the main characters (FL and ML) are so boring and flat and hard to connect to, I just think it's the author's fault.

And the romance? It's nothing more than love at first sight, with the ML easily becoming obsessed with her in every world - there's no journey or interactions to show us why or how they fell in love, and just like the rest of the story, the romance is bland and barely stirs any feelings in me as the reader. (The ML is also very boring - nothing more than a vessel for the trope of the overbearing and powerful ML full of doting for the FL but indifferent to the point of being cold to everyone else.)

Still, tho, if you're bored and want something to pass the time, just choose an arc - it's something to snack on while you're waiting for updates of better and much more fulfilling stories. <<less

this is one of the greatest QT novels I have ever read. One thing that really pleases me is the visible growth and improvement of the arcs. In the beginning everything happening was very vague and honestly I wasn't very satisfied with the beginning stories as everything was so vague and there were some plot holes and quick endings in the arcs but later on they improve and less and less plot holes occur and endings are super satisfying.

another great plus point would be that the MC does not always... more>> end up with the ML, and while you may say that there is nothing good about that you are absolutely wrong because unlike the MC the ML never has his memories but relies on instinct to fall in love with her over and over.... in some worlds his identity causes him to do some selfish things making the MC choose not to be with him- DONT WORRY HE HAS NEVER TOUCHED ANOTHER WOMAN APART FROM HER- just by the time he wants to change things it's too late to regret. In another world they seem to be star-crossed lovers unable to be together, in another world she gives up her life to save the world she was in and thus left him.

most of the times the MC is at an advantage in that she is born in a rich/aristocratic/royal/general's household where she doesn't have to suffer much apart from like 3-4 arcs where her identity is not that of rich/noble (etc)

THE ML IS THE SAME PERSON THROUGHOUT THE BOOK! just in case ppl were wondering.

Again, in my opinion this is a very touching story where the mystery of her existence is finally solved after she gets enough power from world hopping and she can finally meet with her lover (the him with all his memories in his truest form) the summary is very deceiving for it makes the novel seem very shallow and all when its not and the description is probably only for one arc.

i have to admit though because I got so used to her having good conditions in every world I actually skipped a few arcs cuz I didn't find them pleasing. I read through the endings though-not bad.

most of the time the arcs were not repetitive but honestly I preferred the modern arcs to the ancient ones-some ancient arcs were superb but once they were too many it got kinda boring-just a bit-

it would have been an even greater experience if the whole novel was translated-so please give the novel a shot. Its not the greatest of the great but it will definitely grab ur interests, even with the man flaws it has. <<less

old review at c287:

This novel isn't heavy at all. It's a light and relaxing read.

MC and ML are super OP and nothing ever goes wrong. Each world (approximately 30 chapters) follows a similar formula. ML doesn't have all his memories but he recognizes MC right away and falls for her while MC falls for ML when she realizes he's her lover. They don't get together right away but the feelings are pretty much instant. They never have no issues dealing with the antagonist (s).

ML is usually stronger than MC in... more>> most worlds but MC doesn't rely on him too much. She becomes the heroine of each world that's supposed to be taken down by the cannon fodder who reincarnated/transmigated etc so she becomes someone who would typically be the heroine and has a super high standing, is talented, and so on. She's literally a queen but she isn't bloodthirsty and ruthless like some other worldhopping MCs. She completes her task and then lives together and enjoys life with the ML, sometimes has kids and then dies together with the ML, moving on to the next world to quickly find him again.

If you're looking for what I described, you'll enjoy the novel. If you don't... welp. You won't.

Of course, it's not the same all the time. The worlds are unique and you won't get tired. I just binged this novel from the start to the most recent translated chapter today without stopping. The most recent chapter made me sob since the extra was really heartbreaking. But most of the worlds are relatively simple and without drama. This should just be read to relax or when you've finished an angsty novel since you won't be stressed reading this.

edit at chapter ~1000: I was bored so I'm currently in the middle of mtling this. It's been the easiest novel to mtl/understand out of all the ones I've mtled so far and I haven't gotten bored yet even though I'm reading hundreds of chapters a day. It's super good.

edit now that I've completed the novel: uhhhhh I kind of want to lower my rating to 4 but eh I'll keep it. The chapter count per arc increased to 50-60 chapters for most of the later arcs. It finally got boring and I found myself skipping to the end of quite a few arcs. The final reveal of who ML is was decent but nothing special. I found it a bit dumb. The romance isn't the best either.

The author began to run out of ideas and the worlds began to follow a similar pattern. She started to add in a few angsty world and different types to add variety but those were even worse and I'd tend to skip them.

I do have to praise her though, she thought of tons of new themes for the worlds.

My original review still stands. It's not a bad novel at all. I'd give this whole thing approximately?? 4 stars. It's nice to read when bored, but doesn't stand out too much. It has flaws but none of them are too serious. The novel's just dull. <<less

I love the bl transmigration story so I thought I would like it. However its quite a dissapointment, maybe due to no real struggle for the MC. Because usually its the villain or the cannon fodder transmigrated. But here the already blessed and hallowed protagonist just keep to her already exalted and distinguished position and im friggin sick of how everyone just bow and grovel on her dainty feet. Its pretty sickeningly boring you know if everyone just lick her sole.

I honestly found this to be a very dull quick transmigration series, at least for the first two arcs. While it wasn't bad, and was well-translated, it just felt... stagnant.

The heroine of this series, Gu Shengyin, barely seems to DO anything in the first two arcs. As she hilariously said in the first arc, she seems to basically exist as a decoration that sits around and looks pretty while her family and the male lead (who seems to be the same person reincarnating over and over again) take care of... more>> the dastardly villainesses for her.

Seriously, her biggest action in the first arc is to
Spoiler

tell off her villainess concubine-born half-sister and then spread nasty rumors about the crown-prince who cheated on her with said half-sister.

[collapse]
. The male lead and her family literally do everything else needed to take care of the two villains in that arc. And she somehow manages to do even less in the second arc! To call her "inert" is to under-report how useless she is.

Really, she just wanders around kind of aimlessly, bantering with her system until she has a lovey-dovey meeting with the doting male lead who basically likes her for vague reasons... and then he ends up taking care of pretty much everything. It's not particularly satisfying to watch, unless you like doting romances between two people with no actual romantic chemistry.

I give it a 3/5... it's decently written, has some okay romance, and has a good translation. If you're REALLY craving a quick transmigration novel with some face-slapping and a female protagonist getting doted on by the mildly-yandere big-boss type, this might hit the spot. <<less

This novel's strong point, for me at least, is the fact that it's refreshing! There is no melodramatic dog blood and deep blooded vengence. The arcs are quick and light, able to read through them without heavy feelings. And the arcs get more interesting as each one passes so unless something changes, 5/5

I couldn't get past the beginning of the third arc. The MC does almost nothing, just sits there and her ML and her Family will solve the issue. The first two arcs are legit basically the exact same thing in a different font with minor changes.

Spoilers for the first two arc's general plot beats

Spoiler

Ex: MC's a daughter of a powerful family and in an arranged marriage. She has a not completely related sister (half-sister and adopted) who steals her fiance. The engagement is broken off. Her love interest is the older brother of Ex-fiance. ML falls in love with her immediately and they are eventually married.

[collapse]

Spoiler

More exactly the same plot beats: She is about to get hurt, calls on the system for help but the ML comes out of nowhere to save her just in time. She also confronts the canon fodder sister about her deeds (One of the only thing she really does against the antagonists in either of the arcs) and the ML overhears and falls in love even more.

[collapse]

I also couldn't get invested in their romance. It was sweet, but shallow. In the first arc ML confesses to her in their second meeting and in the second arc he falls for her after speaking to her once.

Maybe this gets better in later arcs since it seems to be breaking the formula in the third, but I stopped when it was stated he needed to get to the capital (where MC is) as soon as possible for unknown reasons.

Edit: Also the ML is the MC's cousin in the first arc but maybe that's on me for not seeing the in*est tag <<less

NOTE: As someone who was raised in a religious environment one of the worlds really bothered me. If you are or were a follower of any of the Abrahamic religions you might want to skip chapters 1860-1917. The setting takes place in biblical heaven, with all the actual biblical angels like Michael, Gabriel etc. The ML is actually the head honcho of heaven (the actual Creator and Father). They do the do, which deeply disturbed me because that’s like so blasphemous. It’s an unhappy ending anyways.
Spoiler

the FL and ML don’t stay together because the ML didn’t want the world to be destroyed and didn’t want to FL to become a fallen angel so he had to do a d*ck move and antagonize Lucifer to take the fall. The FL doesn’t feel happy about that decision, even though he kind of did it for her, because she wanted him to choose her over the world or something.

[collapse]

The writing is not terrible, although it is a bit Sue-ish, and sometimes the worlds might seem a bit too drawn out and long, while at other times the ending and FL’s revenge happen so quick and fast you’d be left wondering what happened. It’s not always a happy ending, which makes me feel bad for the ML because he literally doesn’t know that he’ll get to have another life with the FL afterwards and the FL always seemed to easily move on to the next world. I feel like the worlds with the unhappy endings could have been written better, it’s not as emotional or as understandable as the tragic endings of “The Villain Has Blackened Again” or “QT: The Second Female Lead is Poisonous” or “A Hundred Ways To Kill A Heartthrob”.

The characters are ok, I guess. The FL is a bit bland. I can’t really describe her personality, it’s like she just adapts to the characters she’s portraying but with less depth. I always felt like something was lacking from her POV but it might be because the writer’s writing was still immature, reading her other work “Quick Transmigration: Male Lead, You’re Overpowered” was a bit more enjoyable. The ML is more interesting and feels like an actual character with different personalities in those worlds and the villainesses come in all sorts of types and flavors (Some are actual villains who make you want to beat them up and others are like cute sidekicks who didn’t really mean any harm). <<less
