Too slow. I don't normally get bored until chapter 200+ when things start to get repetitive, but I was already bored by chapter 8. It's not homework, so I'm out.

Since the writing isn't even good.

"The blood gushing out of my ankle pooled the floor and reached my face to coat it" Ch.8
What? Okay, ignoring the obvious translation issue, shot in the ankle with an arrow and ALL of the blood in your body came out?

The pool of blood from the arrow would have to be 3 feet wide, even... more>> assuming illogically that the pool isn't centered on the ankle, otherwise the pool would have to be 6 feet long?!? And enough blood throughout that it's coating your face?

Still had enough blood in the body to function, though, thankfully...
"Blood dripped between my gums"
Huh? What about your teeth? WHAT IS HAPPENING

Yeah I won't be able to read this. GGHF <<less

TLDR: Beginning floors is amazing, mid floors-60th floor is decent, everything afterwards is bad.

Amazing start with each tutorial floor in the beginning being really interesting and hella difficult along with showing MC struggle to survive. Gods were funny with their comments, MC was gaining powerful skills and had a ton of potential.

There are some chaps of future MC being stuck on the 60th floor while being crazy OP and I would get hyped up reading MC completing new floors because we would be getting closer to the future OP MC... more>> and I would wonder what's going to happen afterwards. Also MC was dealing with loneliness, depression at his situation, and sadness that no one could keep up with his power which made the story more relatable/enjoyable to read.

Sadly, the story started to get worse in the middle floors, maybe the author ran out of interesting floors to write, maybe he made the MC too OP, idk? However, there still was some cool floors and I mainly stuck with it because I wanted to know how MC is going to escape the 60th floor and afterwards.

More disappointment came when with the 60th floor stuff. It was confusing and done poorly. Everything afterwards was horrible, terrible power scaling and pacing issues. I thought it would be cool seeing MC going back

So, how do I say this? The story as a whole was good. Not bad, great, or perfect. Just good.
Spoiler

That is due to its many problems. The prologue is very good and an effective hook to the story, but from then on some of the minor problems of the novel start to show up. First is the fact that in the earlier chapters whenever there was a POV (Point of view) change from a character to another, there was nothing specifying or warning the readers that it happened and you'd have to figure that out yourself. Second, the story is divided between two main timelines, the present and the flashback (or past) of the main character, and that in itself is not a problem, the problem is how it's used to make you focus on certain problems or situations then it just changes to the past (or future) giving you a completely different and a lot of times less interesting situation (especially in the future) then only ever address the first problem when you no longer care and are already focused on something else.

Now for the bigger and less ignorable faults of the novel. To start all the characters besides the main character get little to no time to be developed since they either don't appear for ages or when they do the focus of the situation at hands most of the time requires them to receive the main character's help directly or indirectly. There are some characters that are more fleshed out later on but by that time my will to invest in anyone else is already too low for me to care. I literally love cute characters, but I was so burned out that the two cute characters of the story were giving me headaches with their behavior each time they appeared.

Also, even though I understand that the main character is supposed to be unstable and not really likable, I think the author went too far with it as at points I just couldn't cope with how despite being self-aware of most of his flaws and complaining about them, he rarely did anything to try and change. If that's how you're going to act just don't bring them up.

Ex: the main character will hurt another character by acting a certain way, then criticize themselves, then do it again the next time.

It's just frustrating to read, but maybe that's just my personal opinion.

Finally, the end of the story is disappointing for personal taste. I would say more, but I don't know how the spoiler function works, so I'll leave it at that.

If you like dungeon grinding and a crazy main character willing to go to extreme lengths, then I recommend the first half of the novel. If not, then try it out at your own risk, and if, by chapter 27-30, you're not interested, I suggest you drop it.

I forced myself to read this... I remember I tried to read it around time it came out, but I didnt like it. However this is always on the popular rankings and I pretty much read everything else I was interested on his site so I decided to give this a try, forcing myself to keep going thinking itll become better... How the h3ll do people love this novel? Im so confused. The idea isnt bad... A tutorial appears kidnapping 100 people every month from each country meanwhile gates with... more>> monsters appear on Earth. The people have a choice of 4 difficulties where hell is the hardest and basically impossible, the MC chooses it knowing nothing. It could've probably been a better story if the author disnt try writing this from 2 perspectives, past and future. Flashback stories like thia dont really work out for a reason. In fact, this novel wouldve been so good if it was purely written from the perspective of the girl who also accidently came in after he got stuck in the tutorial for so long because of a stage needing at least 2 people for a simultanious clear. However no... The details in the story are inconsistent, author basically changes it whenever he wants. Most of the novel became filler due to the load of descriptions focusing on fight scenes and MC progress with very dullish writing, not talking about emotion descriptions instead directly putting things like hes mad, sad, etc. Eventually u get to a point where u skim past the fight scenes to skip most of the chapter to get to the iteresting parts. The author unnecessarily drags the story on to fill word count, really frustrating. I really wanted to read to see what happes when he finally gets out to Earth, but I give up, its too much. I feel like reason so much readers is because this is one of first korean novels posted on this site, and new readers who can deal with this and actually like it as they have not read much read this book. Especially as its a game type setting which is a genre targeting newer readers or people who dont read much. As its also a game type genre, it couldnt avoid like how moat also dont or dont even attempt to avoid the filler word count by writing about their stats and skills over... and over... <<less

Boring. There is nothing happening in this novel. It's only about grinding. The thing that made me bored is the pacing. It takes 15 chapters to clear the first floor that's about dodging arrows. And the useless future chapter about the MC getting awed about how much stronger the hell newbie is compared to him. I like novel about power grinding but this more like telling about MC's multiple attempts to clear a floor rather than power grinding.

This novel is great, it highlights the mc's adventures, trials, and tribulations, and how the tutorial molds his mentality into becoming what he is on floor 60.

My enjoyment comes from, his development as a person, from this weak-willed beta boi, to a psychotic macho man randy. With each floor not only pushing his body to the limits but his morals, attitudes, and personality. Truly showing what hardships can do to the mind of a young man. The main focus is how the tutorial has challenged him in all aspects, which... more>> many novels don't do, Love, compassion, chivalry, survival instincts, bravado, self-worth, self-identification (and many others). Many of the floors individually challenge some of these aspects and askew his thought process behind these. THIS IS WHY I LOVE THE NOVEL.

You probably won't enjoy this if you like mc's slaughtering millions over a stolen candy bar, arrogant antagonists and dumbf*ck useless female characters who have no personality of their own other than to suck the Mc's d*ck (martial god asura). or Mc's that immediately acclimate to the situation with 0 realism or explanation to how they went from city folk to a cold-blooded serial killer in 1 chapter.

If you want strong antagonist's vs slightly weaker MC battles, cheat mechanics, asspull I'm stronger than everyone shit. This probably won't tickle your fancy as well.

EDIT: After reading some bad novels I'm bumping up the score to 3.5... I was bit too harsh on this novel.

I really liked this novel at the beginning despite the very raw introduction, everything was so simple...
The novel didn't pretend to be complicated.

Now the MC is acting like an overpowers emo who's "soooo lonely", despite the fact that he has NOT spend a second alone since 60 chapters ago. He's constantly talking to people via chat, there are tournaments and other gatherings. While beating the Tutorial, he socializes with... more>> the npc's who are strongly hinted to be AT LEAST faithful projections of living beings. I have no Idea why he is such a "boo hoo I'm so lonely" wimp all the time.

The jumps between past and the present are uncalled for, and often to pov's of supporting characters, which feels weird. I don't feel the need to hear every thought of background character X. Even the author get's lost in his own bs, some events are revealed before their time.
Spoiler

There are 3 significant side characters, 2 being the other hell-level challengers. Yet by what I understand to be mistake it is revealed that one of them will die and it is revealed in the most nonchalant way ever.

[collapse]
At core this is a really simple story, but I really dislike how the author handles the emotional side of his HUMAN characters.

In conclusion I would be much happier if the author focused on individual challenges more than the wordly affairs, simply because he seems to have better ideas when he can draw a scene without any restraints as opposed to working with already existing characters. The so called "npc's" and monsters are more interesting than humans in this novel, they seem to have much more personality and emotion. When the pov is on trainees, it really annoys me, I don't like a single one of them.
Spoiler

Case and Point Goblins are more civilized than Australians or so it appears to be

I'm going to describe this story in a very short, simple way.

It's the best prologue ever written. However, that's just it, the entire story (to date) is a massive prologue. I also like playing through the tutorials in every game I play, but I don't buy games for the tutorial, much like I don't read novels for the prologue. As such, no matter how good I feel this novel is written, I can't give it more than three stars.

While I liked it, its badly executed. Idk if I missed something but I didn't know why he was stuck on F60 until I read reviews. Starting in medias res is really ret*rded if you're trying to make a story about how someone SURVIVES through the hardest difficulty when non MCs get wiped. Also, the fact that there's some kind of message boards is great but since were in the future apparently theres conferences and guilds and shit. Like wth? There was no established background content about it and author... more>> just writes it in as if it was established. Seriously, if he just wrote the main mc's progression and how people eventually figured things out up to the 'present' F60 he would've doubled the chapters and then tripled them as main MC read about other mc's own adventures until she got to where main MC is at. I have experience in mmos where I explained how to get through stuff to newbies and I feel as if this is what the author wanted to convey, yet hes written it quite weirdly. Theres so much great concepts and material that hes working with and it is well written to boot. Though with the s*upid idea of writing in medias res, hes literally made a house with a crooked foundation and with all the good ideas he has wont save it from being f**ked up at the start. Id predict that everything gets better once author gets to F60 but he has the consequences of spoiling everyone with content that we have no idea of how they work and fleshing them out after spoiling what they are. See how confusing the latter sentence was? Basically how I feel about the only mistake the author has done. Otherwise on top of it there is a fairly decent novel. <<less

Level up/Survival novel. They do a semi-quentin, starting in the future and then phasing back to the past as he went through the challenges. Right now it's up in the air as to whether it'll be good or not, but it certainly has a lot of potential. If you like the genre I'd recommend picking it up in a heartbeat, if you're not particularly a fan I'd recommend letting more chapters come out before giving it a shot.

Very strong start to the story and everything just makes sense and connect. The mental attitude, the trails are very realistic and things connect. Emotional connection to a world where you know once you leave it resets. His journey through the floors are very exciting and interesting that just excites you for what's to come at the 100th floor.
Spoiler

But sh*t did it go boring. We read from the perspective of his younger self showing glimpse of him in the future where his level is max and he can't further the trails without another player. But once we get into when he gets into the 60th floor it's just a power fantasy then where he just becomes a sage and absorb everything the gods gave him but it was still intriguing and we get the relationship with his son dragon he bought and a clone he just made ??? And finally when the anticipated player he nurtured came up everyone even the gods just went bootlick hims and he just move on plows through to the 100th floor where it was so underwhelming and once he gets to Earth we just realized this guy is sick where he gets mad over petty things (dudes who offended him, dude that he trained but is now a simp and he just belittles the guy) but not his family (they're all dead). I know he suffered from grief of his dad death but at least his sister's death should be at least impactful cause she hit him with the hardest lines but he just gloss over and move on emotionlessly like yeah people die in war. It went from so enticing to one of the most boring mundane life and then he wanted godhood and just becomes a cult leader and he fights with a god or two across the galaxy ?

I like the linear manhwa better.

I didn't care about the MC, who was clearly whacked in the head before the started the tutorial and only gets worse as he moves along, but I did find him interesting at first. I appreciate the authors attempt at character growth early on but it was completely invalidated from the start by the MC's innate blue and orange morality. as for the novel, the plot flow is shaky and the transitions are jerky and bad. The novel jumps around too much and with all... more>> the back and forth in time and random person to person hops, it's easy to lose track of where in time you are and whose pov your using at the moment, though some of the later translators help with that (putting person and time at the top of the pov change chapters).

and as others have pointed out there is a drop in the quality of writing, and after he gets to floor sixty it's kind of boring. The upper floors are almost completely skipped over and a major change happens to the MC off screen during a larger time skip.

i thought it might get better once he got back to the real world but no, not really. It's pretty anticlimactic so far.

my rating: the start is a 4 (floor 0-23), the middle is a 3 (floor 24-59), the end of the tutorial is a 2 (floor 60-100). So far the world outside has been about a 2.5. <<less

The concept and some parts are fun. But the writing is very inconsistent.

The author might want to mistify his readers but actually it makes me rather annoyed than intrigued.

Add constant transitions between characters and timelines while the author is too lazy to make it accurately. Gosh, he's too lazy to write out even some culmination fights scenes and totally skips them.

... more>> Different translators did try to understand and make clear such parts, but mosty in vain.

To add some spice, all the characters are sociopaths which justifies them making weird decisions and talking sh!t.

On the whole it's a very tiresome reading. <<less

I don't recommend reading this novel.
The story starts excellently, showing a guy being stuck in the middle part of the hell mode tower, where apparently no one has finished all around the world. The reader is immediately introduced to the MC, who is a washed up pro-gamer, and the forum system where he can talk to everyone from other "levels" of difficulty. This story gets even more better when a woman is introduced that entered hell difficulty. You get excited because now you have a new hope that they... more>> can now both climb the tower. Then comes the downfall, a damn flashback.
The author makes a flashback of how the MC started in the level, where he meets different types of people and makes you feel involved with them, but obviously, you immediately know that they are going to die since you've already learned of the future. There is no sense of suspense since you already know that he lives, and that no amount of danger can make you nervous. A waste of time. If the author started from level one, and not making some kind of flashback, this would've been more exciting. <<less

I've never written a review on this site, nor did I have an account, but I was so frustrated I had to say something lmao.

Short description (if you don't want to read the rest) :
It's a fun read that most will enjoy if you like these types of genres of OP MC progressing linearly through some dungeon/tower, but leaves much to be desired (hence the minus 2 stars. Based on story alone I'd give it 4)

Looking at the previous reviews and seeing that they were at chapter 100+,... more>> but the story was still not caught up with the current period made me reaaaally not want to read this. But starting it after having nothing else to read (I was desperate), it wasn't too bad. It's a super generic concept with the MC being op, progressing through some type of dungeon/tower thing, etc., but the author tells the story well and keeps it interesting. There is also good character development which is a huge plus, and the side characters are also fleshed out well. The characters in this novel don't feel 2D like the majority of light novels out there, cough chinese novels cough. There is definitely depth to this story, so besides the points I mention below, it's a good read.

Honestly, my biggest complaints (as other reviews have mentioned) are that it's too technical, skips around a lot in the story, and the fact that even at chapter frikkin 202, he's only at the 40th floor..... Like are you kidding me... Do you have to have such detailed explanations of almost every single floor.... I'm only at chapter 112 (I think he's around floor 19 or something), but the progression is so slow. It's really nice to see how he becomes strong, but honestly a lot of the descriptions of the floors we could do without. The slow progression of floors wouldn't have been a problem if the story just didn't start off with him starting at the 60th floor, which leads into one of the issues. Too much time skipping. What I mean is that the story is 90% his past, so him starting from floor 1 and progressing, but then suddenly it'll go back to the present period and keep going back and forth like that. I understand that some authors do this in pivotal points in the story, but so far, most of these flashbacks or... uh flashforwards don't seem that important/relevant. It ruins the flow of the story, and could have been done better. Another issue that I forgot to mention is the lack of physical description of characters... This is something of a personal preference, but it would be really nice if the author could actually describe what these characters look like, what they're wearing, etc. There will be occasional descriptions like "sharp looking", but wtf does that even mean LOL. I'm not dropping it quite yet, but it is starting to drain me reading this most likely because I don't enjoy how the majority of the story is kind of like a flashback and even the most recent translation is not caught up to the present. We'll see <<less

I went into this thinking it will be an other one of those Korean novels with game mechanics, where they start with game mechanics and quickly put them as a background and only bring them to the front when it's convenient.

On that front, it's not exactly false as the mechanics are not at the front and are often used as part of the plot armour.

But unlike most of those novels that use "vrmmo" as their setting and basically have two stories trying to mesh together, this one is all inside... more>> the "game".

It might not seem like a big difference, but it does help with making the main character grow as the story goes.

The side characters are not that developped, mostly because they barely appear as a part of the story, but they help fleshing out the world a bit.

This novel is definitely no masterpiece of litterature, but it is an enjoyable ride if you like OP main characters that always go back and forth on the whole crazy mu*derer thing.

Korean-style MCs like this are surprisingly entertaining when you usually read Japanese and Chinese novels.
The Japanese side usually has their main characters with weak, semi-blank personnality that contradict themselves all over the place (s*avery is no good but I only want s*aves as companions, I don't want to expose my powers and identity but I do crazy things all over the place...), while the Chinese have great Heroes that do exactly the same things as the bad guys but worded in such a way that they are great saviours while the others are evil.

This is not a rant about styles, it is just to point out that once in a while having a different style of story telling and main characters is a pretty good way to enjoy both this and the other styles a lot more. <<less

If you don't mind watching the MC slowly degenerating into a lonely hot mess and become emotionally wrecked constantly as he completes through several floors, this is a pretty interesting read. I quite like how they show the deterioration of his mental state due to being isolated from the rest of the cast, as well as the moments where he manages to put a band aid over his emotional scars as time passes by.

If there's one complaint it's the tournament arcs. They are... incredibly boring, imo. He's OP asf so... more>> he just faceslaps all of them, literally no challenge or tension. Does establish the fact that everyone else isolates from him because he's so god damn powerful though. <<less

I'll give this a 3. The novel is good but its getting boring for me. Aside from the fact that theres large amounts of time jumps (ie present then suddenly talking about past), The story always rubs MCs c*ck on how strong he is (but not really). Its getting pretty much repetitive no matter what trait he is being tested on. Rather than seeing the time jump as a good unique trait, I think the author just has some poor story board planning. Not my cup of tea. Either stick... more>> with the present or stick with the past but for now ill stick this novel in the tr*sh.

Tl;dr - not my cup of tea. Go ahead and try if you like <<less

Great novel, quite enjoy the RPG game status system. At first the switching between future story and past story can seem annoying but after a short while it will have you hooked and screaming "NO NO NO" when they do a switch just to get enthralled in what they switched too. Also really enjoy the lack of cry baby typed main character (they annoy me the most)
