I almost read this for ending and I forgot what this is was the chapter but in conclusion I dropped this. I khow that exist many of the same type novels but this is really sumptuously. All we know novel "Scum Villain’s Self-Saving System" and similar but this is completely repeat the plot for the smallest details and events. One person said that in this novel only difference in their names. I agree. Although when I read this is was one of the first bl novels but I was bored... more>> of this. It was isn't just similar it was also bad and annoying I don't know. MC annoyed me all time and I really not going to reread this. <<less

it's... boring. ML's sudden change of heart is way too sudden, it disrupts the flow of reading for me.

after reading scum villain self saving system, I was thirsty for novels with the same theme, hence me trying to read this. but this novel is just.... not enough to hold my interest, and the other characters, even ML feel rather two dimensional.

definitely not for me.

Overall a thoroughly enjoyable read, binge read the whole series sans the extras in less than 2 days. You really get to see the love between the MC and ML blossom throughout the series
Spoiler

(much like a certain someone's chrysanthemum aye?)

It is definitely not perfect by any means but if you are just looking for a (fairly) quick and enjoyable read with a funny MC and a puppy-like, yet very much yandere-ish ML then this is for you!

After binge reading all the current chapters available yesterday I completely fell in love with this story. At first I wasn’t sure it had a strange pace to me.. It seemed to be going slow but yet it wasn’t with the characters development and whatnot. Maybe it was because I was anxiously waiting for the romance to come into fruition that their love development felt slow ? Just wanting Chu Yu to bend himself to the ways of yaoi.. But I’ve read others that took longer. So I was excited... more>> that it finally happened before I ran out of chapters ?.

I wish the system in this story was a bit cheekier lol but I do laugh when it barrages the the MC with comments at all the wrong moments. And the brocon cracks me up with his very bad timing. All in all I’m very excited to see how the story will continue and how the romance will develop. The story in itself has a lot of funny moments that had me laughing really hard. And would highly recommend this story to anyone into the transmigration novels at this point into the story. It’s enjoyable and the characters are likeable. I’m anxiously waiting for current updates. <<less

The story is amazing! It might be because I've been missing BL recently with most Chinese novels being very long and very hetero, when 'gay' is mentioned it's not in a nice way. I love both protags and I can't wait to read it to the end. I tried the MTL but I'm only getting bits here and there of it. There's a lot about the cultivation thing and the levels that I don't understand, but they're well explained so it's not a problem. Still waiting to see the reaction... more>> once the dense MC realizes the protagonist is actually into him and not looking forward to a harem.

(Edit)

So, I've read a bit more, and I just love this book. It's kind of similar to Scum Villain, but I love this story over that one because the ML in this one does NOT throw abuse, verbal or otherwise, at the MC, unlike in the other story. I love their development, their relationship is great, and I particularly love Chu Yu's brocon older brother when he tries to keep the two apart. I even love his master, who seems to think of the two of them as his kids to look after. I can't wait to reach the end. <<less

Oh good lord. People are so unnecessarily dramatic. SVSSS was just one more entry in a whole genre of similar works, it doesn't make the others derivative. Writers just want to have fun sometimes.

Anyway, I liked this. It was emotional for a fluff piece, and I really enjoyed all of the side character ships thoroughly. MC's sexuality is decently explored. One of the only platonic brocons I've genuinely liked as a character, and he's easy to understand while not being simpleminded. Shizun deserves his own dang novel, it's also gratifying... more>> to have a good Shizun character who's like... not actually part of the main couple. The villains were pretty decent too. Plot threads came together shockingly well at the end.

It's a fast read and a genre that's popular for a reason. So there's no reason not to give it a shot. It's okay to give middling reviews and read more than one book. <<less

3 stars and only beacuse nothing serious has happened yet. I dropped this on chapter 22. Things started to get weird between MC and ML.

  • First of all, MC was 19 and ML 13 when they first "met", and since then ML has been developing romantic and s*xual feelings for MC, so yeah... *weird face*. And what's more, MC is not aware of that while ML is always trying to make advances. Sometimes ML makes innuendos and MC gets the weird vibes but doesn't really understand and just accepts it. ML is literally referred as a predator sometimes, and he doesn't back down even when he realises MC didn't know about his feelings. He's spoiled to the point of being disrespectful to the MC. He disobeys his advice and orders whenever it's convenient or whenever he doesn't feel like listening to MC. And that enrages me because when you "love" someone, you usually try to respect them, their personal space and desires.
  • Also, MC doesn't really seem to want to go back to his world. He doesn't take his points to return very seriously. He's more concerned about teaching ML the arts of seduction for women.
  • On top of that, plot said bye bye and now there is more romantic drama than anything else.
  • Oh and mc's brother, with his bro complex, is always fighting with ML for mc's attention.
  • What the heck.

This is a light hearted read, this isnt your cultivation novel so if you're hoping for some cultivation progress and all then stop and turn back. It's not like there's no mention of cultivation at all but it focuses more on relationships; Between MC and ML or between other side characters. Its to the extent where theres not a single mention of "Dragons" or "Phoenix" like how commonly they are used in cultivation novels but theres plenty mentioned about sword cultivation. Besides that, I also like how side characters aren't... more>> just ignored in this and given a proper setting.

'System' isnt a golden finger either, I guess it's existence was just to transmigrate MC into the novel and add a little comedy to the novel. It came and left inexplicably, there was no mention of why he came or it's origins. People may find it annoying that he never used his system points either, I do too 😅

The Chu Family and their heavy doting and the 'princess' treatment for MC is valid and justified properly, it isn't just skimmed over like "because he is the youngest in the family, everyone dotes on him very much". Their overprotectiveness has a good reason

Spoiler

it's kinda unsettling for me cuz the original Chu Yu had already departed and they didn't know the MC is a fake till the end of the novel

[collapse]

ML is obsessed with MC and he has a good enough reason for that. From the very first time when ML and MC met, ML had a hunch that MC has changed and he later ascertained it but kept mum about it so I guess he was the only one who knew about it. He's paranoid due to his childhood experiences. Some people may think that the Xie Xi of first life had many wives so hes not worthy of MC in this. I'm not particularly fond of this type of MC either in normal cases but their world is heavily influenced by the plot. Looking at it from another POV, Many ladies needed to work together for a long time to thaw MLs cold heart and bring him warmth but just MC's mere presence is enough for the 2nd life ML to do it. This shows the difference of the weight they hold in ML's heart

The original Chu Yu had a reason to hate Xie Xi but I just feel that it was mostly 'fate' at work. I feel bad for him for being forced by 'plot'. As a matter of fact, he wasn't bad by nature and I'm sure readers would have wanted to know more about what happened to him after his death, maybe he got a good reincarnation or something but nothing further is mentioned about him, this is one of the cons in the novel.

Loose Threads: Idk if author forgot or was just in a rush to end this but there are many loose threads in this, maybe we can hope for a second book? Like there are mentions of ML's parents in the last few chapters of the novel but they are in Immortal Realm and ML haven't met them yet. There are also other unfinished matters like the Demon Lord, the Fu Ancestor in the Abyss. Hopefully, we can have a 2nd book for it.

P.S: No, there's no MPreg but author has subtly hinted that there may be a chance. <<less

Ok a lot of other reviews have covered how the prose, plot, and characters are bad. Let me add in warnings because no one is mentioning the dead dove content like this is serious stuff!

Spoiler

At one point MC turns into a 5 year old. ML expresses that even if they can't have s*x MC can still give him hand jobs and blow jobs. Afterwards ML goes to third base with MC for a few sentences before the narration confirms that MC has temporarily turned back to an adult.

I feel gross and I'm not finishing this novel. <<less

It's hard to describe, but I think the novel just gets progressively worse with each chapter. Read the raws. (The author kinda said that this novel was one of their worst ones in their author's page so I just read it with that expectation.)

The characters are a bit annoying, not as in personality wise, but as in they do nothing to the plot. The personalities of the characters (besides the MC) are pretty flat in the first place, but a lot of them don't really affect the plot much.... more>> So far I have counted three couples beside the main one, and out of the 6 characters in these pairs only 2 characters have an important role in the story (up to ch43). It's like the characters are being added solely for the sake of being shipped. Maybe if you enjoy romance it's a win, but it's really just a turn off for me.

The plot was interesting at first, but I'm having a bit of trouble following it. Maybe I'm just s*upid. It's not particularly splendid in its genre, but not disappointing if you don't have any expectations besides 'at least average'.

Romance is kind of messed up. The ML is just freaking h**ny all the time, acts on his s*x drive, and in his brain, "like" = "let's have s*x". The MC's thought progress about his relationship was fine but the pacing was really weird. (Went from "Denial: I'm not gay" -> "Questioning: Maybe I'm gay?" -> "Acceptance: I'm gay" -> "Regret: I shouldn't have let ML's hopes up") The pacing sort of messed up the whole romance part of the novel (and it's pretty shitty of him to use the ML to test if he's gay while knowing ML likes him).
Spoiler

Plus I'm pretty sure their first time was like in the woods or some stranded place? Like it's not part of the point I'm making but why???

[collapse]

Wouldn't really recommend it. I do think my review is a bit more negative than usual because I'm on a novel burnout, so maybe my crappy brain left out nice things of the novel I should have written in the review. Goodbye and have a nice day. <<less

This is a very charming read. I read this while looking for things similar to Scum Villain Self-Saving System and it did not disappoint. I especially liked the main character's bonds with his family. It was very touching.

I think that this is actually a light-read novel. There were not much ups and downs in emotions but I greatly enjoyed reading this. I was torn between giving this a 4 or 5. I really think that the plot is good, it was simple and fast-paced, and the translation as well but there were some things that I wish were clarified or mentioned before ending the novel.

Spoiler
    • Did the ML end up saving his parents?
    • Was Fu Chongyi successful in regenerating his arm?

Plot is a bit like Scum villain self saving system but with more h**ny gong. At first the plot actually the same but once it start the main story the difference became clear and you still get a lot of thrilled emotion while reading.

Although the charaters in the first part might make someone a bit uncomfortable cause of their s*upidity and yandere personality. The development in the latter part of story is good enough.

There're a lot of plot holes and unfinished story line that make me a bit frustrated. But... more>> overall it's good to read. <<less

No beef with the translator they did a great job..... but yeah this is 80% SVSS.

  • Transmigration system that punishes if you're OOC.
  • Abyss.
  • Water Prison and being whipped.
  • Separated with one party thinking the other is dead and almost going mad.
  • I'd break your legs so you never leave me.
  • Don't smile at anyone else only me. Only you matter to me. Never leave me.
  • Crybaby ML who is kinda OP.
  • Put it together and what do you get!
Few minor differences honestly like no evil sword and a few others.

Honestly if you've never read SVSS then you... more>> might enjoy this (still a Yandere ML tho)

but I'm honestly shocked the author wasn't sued for plagiarism because a lot of the parts very waaay too similar to be 'coincidences'. <<less

the novel is so cute, as well as the side characters! I was really laughing when I was reading the novel because of the system and the MC. some times, I was almost killed by the second hand embarrassment lmaooo even though everything is really just... moving too fast, it was a good read. I thought MCs brother being a brocon dont have any means but it does have some reason and somehow I was sad. lastly, the extras are so funny pls the side couples are sooo *chefs kiss*

*cough cough* anyways

This story was honestly pretty good. A bit like SVSSS. The MC is very likable and his personality causes a lot of funny misunderstandings. Kind of dense at picking up hints, and he believes that his actions are pushing the ML onto the correct path when in reality, its not.. The ML is not super OP or super special who is destined to conquer the world and 1-hit KO anyone unfortunate enough to cross his path like others, but he still has... more>> that protagonist halo. When faced with the MC, the ML automatically turns into a softy that will do anything to protect the MC from harm. When faced with others that get too close to the MC, ML must "enjoy" drinking all that vinegar (another way of saying how someone is jealous).

The side characters were also really good. They each have their own unique personality and the author even explains why they act that way. Even though this is tagged as xianxia, the actions are quite lacking, but the story line/plot and balance between progressing the general storyline and romantic development between our MC and ML each chapter that are not too slow nor too fast makes up for it.

Those that enjoy "The Reader and Protagonist Definitely Have to Be in True Love" or any "I've transmigrated into a villain (cannon folder) and I must avoid death flags with the help of a system" novel, I would definitely recommend this novel for you. <<less

So... due to the fact that I already reread this (two times?) I thought it eould be fair to also leave a good review. I don't really know why you would rate this novel two stars, it at lear deserves three stars or more for it is much better written and more interesting than many other novels I've read so far on NU.

It's the typical cultivation-older-brother-villian-transmigration-story (lol, you know what I mean). I guess most of us already know the more popular "scum villian self—saving system". compared to that, I... more>> have to say that I like this one better, because the psychological shadows of the protagonists are not that big. The system doesn't push the MC to complete the story as it was because.. well the MC is there to fix the shitty original plot so there wouldn't be a point in following the original path? That leads to the ML not being as blackened as he would have been and an overall better ending than in the original (not too much spoiler to say this I guess). That also means the ML might be clingy but a lot more likeable than the one in "scum—villian" (This psycho! I didn't hate him but still... not healthy my boy.) He may also have his psychological shadows but it's bearable and understandable. I really like the MC, he's not an idiot and despite being a coward he manages to look like he is aloof and mighty while crying for his mommy on the inside XD. These scenes are hilarious. Also, despite often thinking "Oh f*ck my life" on the inside, he manages to pull out quite a few really cool moves. He's not powerless and not a sassy but stands his ground. The plot is good paced until 3/4 of the novel, than it goes into a low and get's boring for some time but it picks up at the end and the end is fulfilling. There are no big plotholes but a coherent and suprising build up. Also, most side characters are interesting and not 2D. They also don't get lost as the plot progresses. That alone is more, than most other novels in this genre manage. All in all likeable characters, a few nice juicy scenes and an intereting enough plot that I like to reread, which can only be said for a few novels on NU. Give it a try despite some bad reviews, it can't be everyones cup of tea but it maybe yours and you never knew until you try. :) <<less
