People be like "MC ATE DOG TO SURVIVE OH MY GOSH I'M DROPPING THIS NOVEL!!" while on another novel, they were like "lol that man got beheaded hahaha"

.... you bunch of sissy hypocrites. F*ck off.

___

... more>> OK, time to stop the rant and write the review.
___

Here we have MC with trust issue. Rather than a villain, he's more like chaotic neutral with tendency of leaning a bit on the side of evil... which is not surprising if you read the title. Even so, he's quite caring for his new family, and he's not an indecisive guy... or at least I hope so.

From the flow of the sentences and how the author delivers the story, this story is mediocre at most, but definitely doesn't warrants such bad rating.

Read if you want.... and just skip ch2 instead of getting your bu*t sandblasted with coarse salt.

___
PS: At first, he didn't even realize it was his own dog. His memories still hadn't returned that time and he was greatly confused by his situation, so just calm your ti*s fam. <<less

Why the hate? Just because there's a dog eating chapter it doesn't mean that it's tr*sh. Man. People just don't know how to give reviews (me too). Its a fantasy novel get off your high horse and don't uphold western culture to a eastern novel and a fantasy type if I may add. Dogs are just meat. Get over it. I mean why are dogs better than any other animal? Dogs are overrated because they are domesticated.

On the the novel proper. Villain esque MC reincarnated to a fantasy world. Nothing... more>> new. A better version of Grasping Evil IMO. Read this is you're tired reading straight lace p**sy I mean MC. Not the best world creating novel but not the worse. <<less

Yeesh, back in the 70s when a bunch of Hippies were "living" homeless in San Francisco, somehow the stray dog problem in the city just magically disappeared. Course no one talks about it. I wonder if the guilt has made them into animal rights activists.

Still, I feel the MC actually has a chance to survive a less civilized world. Gives the story a unique feel even if the story really isn't.

What a shame this is a damn good novel but the autor started making the MC kill a dog to eat otherwise he would die and that happend on chapter 2 but if you could ignore this and move on this is a good Xinxia novel.

Reminds me a lot of Xia Ni but with a good master in this case and the cheat is also similar and the name "Scum" mean he is tr*sh that can't cultivate in fact the people of his sect call him that but that is... more>> because they can't sense his cultivation and the MC isn't a bad guy he is just realist the worst thing he ever did was killing the dog but he need to chouse death or eat the dog.

I recomend this novel to anyone that likes Xianxia even more Er Gen work. <<less

Yep, I stopped reading after the notorious dog eating chapter. As someone from the west, dogs are family. Especially lovable and happy dogs. I don't intend to downvote the story, as I don't do that, but I wanted to at least let some people understand where I and others like me are coming from.

The author is setting up his character to be scum. It is in the title, it is in his bio. He was a rapist, mu*derer, thief, and such. He is the scum of society. Killing and eating... more>> a dog is a scummy thing to do, in my mind. Wolves, maybe. But dogs? I wouldn't eat my brother to stay alive, nor would I eat my pet dog. Because I am not scum.

Therefore, I knew I could not see eye to eye with the MC. I wouldn't feel attached to the character and I wouldn't want to see even more messed up stuff in the future. So, I dropped the story.

Now, even if the MC changed his ways, there will be such a dramatic shift, that it might not even feel like the same guy. If that is the case, then why even introduce such a background? That is why I feel like the author plans on making more messed up scenes. Technically, I don't even read those cultivation novels with r*pe and needless mu*der. I thought this was going to be another funny silkpants scion of a wealthy family story with a pe*verted personality. But no.

Not at all.

I don't even know who to recommend this story to. <<less

All in all the "Scum of the cultivation world" feels rather generic and average for now. I would definitely not call him evil but only selfish. If that makes him a villain then so be it.

I only gave 3 stars as while the story line deserves a 3*-4* rating the translation is only alright and the editing is either non-existent or terrible.

At this point: If it's only the translator doing all the work: Good effort, keep on trying. Otherwise get a new editor!

The fact that everyone seems so god damn simple minded except the MC makes this novel look bad. No one has any complex thoughts of any kind and everything is done on a whim.

Spoiler

For example, that devil sect (something illusions) that got destroyed. So they randomly provoked another strong sect and got annihilated overnight for absolutely no reason. Spirit stones? Doesn't every sect have spirit stones? Steal from maybe weaker sects?

[collapse]

I also hate how 'emotional' people feel. Yes emotions give the story more depth but when it's not done well it becomes a negative point of a novel.

Spoiler

Apparently the words 'I love you' are very effective against women, despite not knowing them for long enough nor interacting with them.
Also can the songs sh*t get any more cringy and ridiculous? Lol

[collapse]

This novel is very mediocre and not worth reading in my opinion. <<less

Well, as someone who read up to 61ch, it was somehow interesting at first.

Good point is that main character is, to put it bluntly, honest with himself. He act as he wish, not putting it under righteous disguise.

Honestly it would be 4/5 rated novel if not for major flaw: author. Popular saying, fitting in this case: Authors CAN'T write characters more intelligent, than they are themselves. Although, it is quite common in many novels/stories, but here MC have extra Alzheimer...

Spoiler
    1. MC plan join sect only for pill to advance to next level.
    2. All disciplines of this sect get 3 advanced pills for free.
    3. He successfully join, and get MAIN ALCHEMIST as his master.
    4. Transferred of apply fertilizer on herbs.
    5. He do it for year.
    6. Plan to steal required herbs.
    7. Plan to create pill by himself (no prior experience, tools).
    8. Welp, I am out...

You know, he could just *khem* ask for said pill, but no...

A new flavour.

This novel is quite simply of a different mindset. I wouldn't use the word 'shameless', but 'dirty'. This story feels altogether more human than many other stories do. The protagonist lusts, craves, and takes advantage of life as much as possible. In order to survive he's willing to do pretty much anything - I can respect that.

However... the humour is strangely integrated. At inappropriate times something 'humorous' would occur making our protagonist look like a complete idiot. Then again... it could be that our hero is just... more>> manipulating those around him with a facade. This novel has so much better, and it feels like it's ruined, but it's not ruined to such an extent that it invites contempt.

Would recommend for those looking for something with a new pace. P.S, The Novel is Dead. <<less

other than the controversial second chapter this is fairly average. It feels like the author used the dog situation to drum up notoriety and awareness for his novel, which certainly polarized the readers, especial western readers who view dogs as family members. Several countries eat or have eaten dogs as a regular staple so I just assumed China was one of them and moved on.

someone else commented that this was like Xian Ni but I fail to see the similarities (other than both having poor roots starting out). In truth,... more>> I had higher expectations for the story when I read that review and was, therefore, more disappointed when it was nothing like. I admit I gave up early, so maybe the similarity shows up later.

I gave up on this one when the MC said his main reason for cultivating was basically to get laid/ get beauties; the dog-eating I could handle, the assinine motivation was what killed it for me. I'm not too fond of stories where the MC (and writer) is mostly focused on his d*ck (I should have realized it would be like that when I read the end of the summery but it slipped past me). <<less
