You want me to help you? What do I get out of it? Nothing? Bye.

Hmm… that guy looks like he might cause me problems in the future. Better kill him before he becomes a problem…

I love the personality of the MC. I have been loathing the personalities of most main characters in western books because of how "heroic" they are. Even in chinese novels, they TRY to portray them as heroic. I like a MC who is like Leylin. This is so far my number 1 webnovel. I have read like 60-100 (not fully but each upwards of 500+ chapters) and Leylin still remains my favorite MC, personality and action wise. Mystical Journey is good too if you like this novel, but the MC... more>> is not as "evil" as leylin. I use evil very loosely because that a person like Leylin would be considered evil in most culture or society. <<less

One of the best novels I have read so far, for me the protagonist is very interesting smart and calculative, the world building is done very well, at first you can think it's kinda boring, but after that I've really enjoyed this story.

I'm italian so sorry for any errors

Really good web novel. I won't say overly much about it but I think it was pretty good.

The Bad:

  • The AI chip the MC has is a bit too OP at times.
  • The story feels a bit rushed near the end. Feels like the author got bored in the last 50 chapters and just wanted to finish the story.
The good:

  • Very good world building
  • Consistency in power levels and not too many plot holes with a few exceptions
  • MC is not a complete douche bag and generally sensible
  • Interesting side characters, they are not the best but you feel like at the very least they are mostly consistent. And not too many cases of characters introduced just to be the bad guy of that arc.
  • Interesting power system as well as there are multiple systems in the novel.
All over I enjoyed it.

He is a scientist.

I'm going to start off with complaining about the people who say he isn't a scientist, you see him later on experimenting coming up with new spells of his own trying to figure out how and why things work for example with his research of the soul and making his own so called rank seven depending on the translation spell. This type of science is actually closer to what we do now we come up with new ideas and experiment and then let a computer take this... more>> data and create predictions, this is also in the case of computer modelling fitting in with our current understanding of a scientist.

Cheat ability.

I would agree that he uses his cheat ability, bear in mind this novel's premise is he is given a cheat ability and thrown into the world if you don't like that then this isn't your genre (so don't complain about a style that others like and you don't), he uses this ai chip to the maximum potential and understands it unlike foolish protagonists who you hate for failing to use their ability, however he isn't instantly granted godlike powers. To start with he works hard yes the ai chip allows him to understand data and to have infinite memory however this is only to a certain extent their are times where the ai chip simply is not powerful enough or doesnt have sufficient data and he spends years literally 100s of years meticulously researching and trying to upgrade the ai chip. There are cases where he is weakened by previous choices and also where he curses his decisions, this is not that overpowered.

Smart:

He is smart, he realises early if he shows off his power he will die and so specifically tones down his achievements or attempts to. He doesn't s*upidly try and save someone and use plot armour, if I remember correctly there are few cases where he has plot armour and those cases he realises and is unhappy about this fact and further learns and becomes more calculative and in that instance you see him grow
Spoiler

especially when you see him start life again on another planet with a torn part of his soul and how he is much better at getting stronger and creates better plans with fewer gaps

[collapse]
. He is the ultimate schemer and sometimes I would admit that his schemes seem to be ridiculous however given how his previous schemes had small areas which failed he slowly grows on that and I like that about this character.

Cold hearted:

You say he is too cold, wrong, he looks after those who have helped him and shows emotions
Spoiler

and he feels saddened when he returns to his starting zone (much later on in the novel) having had years past and find out everyone he cared for died due to time. Also the family that he had no real relation to because he was reborn in someone else's body he helps them. The s*aves he gives them a good life leaving them with wealth and possessions and moves on. Even at the end when he is this all powerful being he comes and looks after everyone who he cares for. He leaves behind treasures for his family the dragon ring with 3 chances (much later on). He lives on the stance of if you are kind and support me then even when I become strong I will be kind and support you

[collapse]
. In turn I can understand if you are early on if you feel he is too cold hearted, at the beginning he is a lot harsher but that is due to the environment of being in a black wizard area you see later how life is different in different places and he adapt to this this is one of the areas he develops and when he has his own organisation he makes it a lot friendlier in that respect. <<less

Ok!! this novel seems to become a standard for some people to judge other novels, but I gotta say that this novel was the least interesting novel I have ever read.

Some people say that this novel is not for the faint of heart, which is utter bUllsh*t considering the MC is pretty pathetic and crybaby, who doesn't know anything besides asking his AI (Cheat) for help. The ruthlessness in this novel is on the level of a 12 year old kid with a pirated copy of MS Word, there are... more>> only suggestion that some mild atrocities were carried out, there are no concrete descriptions or a sense of foreboding in this. Example-
Spoiler

There was a time when I read some spoilers how the MC killed 70% (Or something people) people using a virus to spread his religion. I thought it was cool and was enthralle reaching that part thinking that the novel can't be bland all the time. What I got was a single chapter describing this to us then forgetting about it. I didn't feel a sense of dread and foreboding for the people of that land, as the author didn't give us any reason for it, for the author they were just no. and he displayed it to us the same, I felt empty at that time. This novel was really bad unlike what other people were claiming it to be

[collapse]

AI-

I would say that one of the main reason this novel is bad is because of this cheat, the "AI". The author is using this thing to a huge extent, so much so that you may start to question who the MC is, every decisions, every problem, every level up, every experiment, every purification of mana, every optimization... everything is done by it, the MC only give out his consent nothing more than that. IF the AI had said that the instead of MC it was just the AI that took over the poor Leylin's body, the story would have been much more interesting.

Characters-

The characters in this novel are one dimensional and only have 1 attribute throughout this novel, I never noticed any growth in them (including the MC). The seem to function on set of principles that the author had programmed in them. And don't get me started about how the MC is always right (Thanks to AI-kun) while he predicts things up or plans for something (till the AI doing 90% of work here). The only attribute that I know about MC is that he is a pathetic crybaby and a serial s*x offender (Well gotta say the novel contains some really s**tty side characters, so MC has not that much fault in here.)

Story-

There is no story, nor any drama. There are not even life threatening instances that may help the character grow. The main driving force of the story is the MC wanting to attain immortality and higher cultivation while being a pu*sy of some sort.
And this is not bad in itself, but the problem arises when the world he is living is bland and there are no mysteries in it, there is not even a lore in this novel. THere will not be a single time where you will say "Whoa this guy played us" or "sh*t so that's what who he/she is" or something along the lines. Everything is open and plain to understand. Pretty good for edgy 9 year old written by 12 year old.

I never felt any blood rush or the sense of wonder when the MC went to another world, it felt so bland *Sigh

Well!! if you are new to this novel, ignore it.

This is something that one ought to read when there is nothing on your palate. Well!! Good luck!! and f*ck THIS SHiTFEST OF A NOVEL!! <<less

I am honestly disgusted by the people who have not read even 100 chapters, but claim that this novel has no world building or story progression.

Firstly, the mysteries are being revealed as MC gets access to the information/ can comprehend it. Early on he is incredibly weak compared to many existences that appear later on, so he naturally starts to uncover rank 4 secrets when he is nearing rank 4, not when he is barely rank 1. The world is very intriguing if you just give it time.

As for the... more>> story (and development I guess) the mc's goal is immorality from pretty much day one, people are complaining about his reasons, but which one of us has never wished to be eternal? I think it started more like a daydream that later on starts to seem achieveable. People are complaining about A.I. Chip and I do admit, that MC would not get nearly as far without it, but it's not as brutal, as the haters say. It has incredible calculation, deduction and storage abilities, but all the schemes and usage of all this is figured out by MC.

As for MC personality, other reviews described him mostly well, he is cold, cunning and always in control, I will however add, that he does help others as long as it brings no losses, on many occasions he helped a random encounter on a whim or for a lttlit bit of enjoyment, once he is powerful enough to disregard such loss.

Most importantly, the story is about those FEEL GOOD moments. When after 20 chapters of scheming the MC harvests all the best benefits, the conclusion where he outsmarts a being multiple realms above him (there being only 9 realms) or when he finishes that research and obtains an incredible item. Hell, I get goosebumps when I think about Karkas' avatar.

In conclusion this is just me being angry at people who gave low rating to a novel I loved so much (finished in 2 months while attending school and spending time with friends) and it's not very well though out. It's 3am and I just finished the novel, but I just couldn't stomach the reviews. That is all, thanks for reading, sorry I don't have any other recommendations <<less

I would rate it much more. But I didnt find a MC yet, all I see is an AI chip. Who made all potions? AI chip. Who is fighting? AI chip. Who is casting spells? AI chip. Who is making body of MC stronger? AI chip. (Don't forget AI chip also has 10 meter scanning area, and that only gets larger) What did MC do? Praised the AI chip

This is the best novel I have read so far.

While it is true that at the start the AI chip is annoying, the protagonist mindset is well made, the reason why he's able to progress is because he knows his limits and is able to be ruthless and determined for his goals.

He also gets a lot of abilities while he powers up, so the battles don't get repetitive.

I loved it! It was one of the best stories I have ever read. The naming of some of the characters was difficult to swallow, but the story is great!

The main character, Leylin, has to be one of my all-time favorites. I would love to say more, however, I wouldn't want to spoil it for anyone.

P.S. I am so depressed that it is finished.

The premise of the story is an as*hole (not much science in this scientist) walking around with an op AI chip (the scientist). Any and all relationship he has is ruined by his "logical thinking" before being discarded and replaced with new meatbags.

but says he doesn't want to be a jerk and kill innocent people. Considers anyone weaker than him as pets or his play thing. Many times showing behaviors of a sociopath. The author spends a lot of time covering this up by brining up logic and benefits, or the lack of effort version, "what's tis gotta do with Leylin?"

I'm just tired of the author trying so hard to enforce the anti hero almost super villian personality. The story would be better if Leylin would just go full villain instead of this ring around the rosy bipolar crap. <<less

A 5/5 for me. Dark gritty world. I have to read or watch something happy after binge reading this. But a good read nonetheless. My only point of frustration is the MC ALWAYS outsmarts everyone.

Basically all you need to do is guess how the MC outsmarts his way to win in whatever challenge he is facing. Every arc is full of build up of the bad guys and a little bit on what the MC is doing. Then intense calamities arrives and MC stands at the peak of the mountain.... more>> Its a point of frustration for me, but I just couldn't resist. I have to read to find out how. It's been a wild ride reading this. I'm looking forward to the next novels the author will write. Waiting for the translation team to do about a hundred or 2 before I start though. Lol. <<less

I dropped this not because of any unsatisfactory points in the plot of the story nor because the MC's cultivation started out slow on the contrary I loved the setting of having an AI in your head as an advantage.

It just slightly disgusted me that they lived in a world where premarital s*x was already legal at age eleven and the MC is very much at home with it you know.

I've seen quite a few 5 star reviews among them and I have to say: They're not accurate.

The MC is dull. There is absolutely no scientific method in anything he does. Calculating Protagonist? Oh please. Everything he does, all the progress he makes, is off the back of an omnipotent "A.I chip". This thing literally does everything for him besides f*ck, sh*t, and breathe. It fights for him, learns for him, navigates, advises, detects, calculates, purifies, crafts (potions, etc), reads, you get the idea. Without the A.I chip he might... more>> as well be the cannon fodder that gets blown away by "energy waves" while the real protagonist does his thing. With it he might as well be remote-controlled hot wheel that transports the A.I Chip from point A to point B.

Every interaction he has with anyone might as well be treated as chapter filler because they likely won't last 50 chapters before being dumped, never to be heard from again. There is no likable aspect of the MC and similarly there's no likable aspect of the secondary characters. This culminates in very forgettable characters. I swear if the MC wasn't in every chapter for the last 90 I read I'd have completely forgotten about his existence.

You also don't really learn a whole lot about the world. I mean, yes, there are certainly a lot of words for world building but it doesn't seem to really culminate in any significant details. Worse, you'll see massive time jumps almost right away. We're talking 6 months+ gaps of time when the chapter count barely reaches double digits. IIRC the MC started at age 13, he was 15 by the time I stopped reading.

There is no "Evil" when everyone is f*cking evil. The hell's the point of making everyone evil if there's no contrast? I can understand an evil themed story but there's gotta be some characters that at least straddle the damn fence. Every single character introduced so far have just a been a revolving door of selfish @$$holes.

tl;dr MC is a dumbass and the story might as well center around the A.I Chip. None of the characters are memorable, world-building is barely passable, massive time leaps everywhere, deus ex A.I Chip. <<less

Just one if not, the best fantasy novel out there today. The pure intricacies of how the protagonist plans ahead of everything and how every single existence is tied to his fate is just astounding. Highly recommend this book to those who love main characters who are highly intelligent, somewhat apathetic to life itself, and most importantly uses knowledge and strength together in harmony. Many thanks to the translators for bringing this story to life for us. A fine day to all.

As most of the people that have given 5/5 have already said, this is not a novel where you can expect the MC to run and offend some young master and then get saved or get an instant power-up to survive. Instead this MC is not afraid to run use his mind to get away, then wait until he is strong enough to deal with his enemies. ... more>>

A perfect exemple of this MCs paitiance is when he gets cursed by his bloodline progenitor and lives for a hundredish years as a weak and dying man/snake, only to have spent majority of that time working on a sacrifice to strike the bloodline progeniter with borrowed power.

Basicaly this novel is good paced with alot of planning and intelect.

As far as my personal feelings are concerned, this novel is a 1 star. It's one thing to have an apathetic/anti-hero main character, there are many novels who do that and some do it well. The MCs in those stories will simply not meddle into business that doesn't concern them such as being "righteous" and whatnot. However, the MC in this story is a straight up villain. A bastard whom I truly wish dies a gruesome death. You can no longer call an MC apathetic or an anti-hero when he... more>> straight up slaughters innocent people just because of some small benefits. This man will do anything and everything if it benefits him in the slightest. I think even massacring millions of innocent people is not too far for this one.

That being said, I think the writing in this novel isn't bad. For what it's trying to portray, the novel does a good job. Plot advances smoothly most of the time, very few plot holes, and the personality of the MC is consistent (so far). It's great for two kinds of people: Ones who want to appreciate good writing and then all those closet psychopaths out there who want to watch good (and sometimes bad) people being butchered by a maniac who sees nothing but benefits.

Should you give it a try? Sure. However, if you don't like stories focused on villains, tread with caution. <<less

Dude... I have never seen a protagonist that can for example toy with an innocent, give them what they need, use them and kill when not needed after saying to them that the drama was quite good with a huge smile.

Truly a self-centered evil protagonist, you have something I need? kill you and make it mine, trade? only if killing you makes things complicated I will trade, otherwise, kill.

I recommend that you read this once in a while with some cute stories in between or you risk be corrupted

Hmm let's see. Interesting premise. Sci-fi plus magic? Lets see where it takes me!

400 chapters in, this is absolutely getting nowhere. It stays true to it's words, he's just powering up. No overall determined goal or plot.

His damn chip is overly overly op. He is overly dependent on it. No character development ever happens. He's bland and 1 dimensional. The story is getting more generic and less entertaining the more I read. Like some typical cn novel, the MC looks up to strong character only for the next chapter to show the MC beating the character's ass.

The plot is predictable. Talk about central continent? Of course we're going there. Then the following up top repeats. Talk about ancient relics and pocket dimensions? Of course we're getting one. Things come into his hands and leave the others.

Side characters pass like passing flies and portrayed as ret*rds. Seemingly significant characters neglected the next second.

Details regarding setting is only brought up when the MC arrives to it which seemed like it was came up on the spot.
Spoiler

like during the school selection, it never says anything about the enmity between the light and dark magus. Was only brought up later on for excuses for events to happen. It was something like, "wait I forgot to mention that!?"

[collapse]

Cold blooded and cunning mc? Generic. His "cunning" amounts nothing but a typical MC with thoughts and overpowering plot armor and luck. Cold blooded? Seems like a deadpanned MC with only the purpose to move. If u want to look at a rational lunatic and evil madman, go look at Ouroboros Record. The MC there is a perfect example. This guy here is just selfish, arrogant, and seem more like an idiot pretending to be smart with the help of the world's GM. He also OOC sometimes. It's like the MC isn't devoted and completely determined with his goal, if he has one. Maybe he does, I may have just forgotten. But if it's to the extent that I forgot, it's not even significant enough.

In addition, it's similar to Linley in Tomato's novel uhh which is it? Oh yeah, Coiling Dragon or Ring. The MC gets strong op bloodline, only for bloodline to eventually seems average in a wide world.

It's pretty consistent, but this time I really hope it changes. I want more tension and less predictable generic plot events. Well at least, the cultivation in this novel is seemingly different.

The MC tries to praise his advanced sci-fi world every other minute. Ok that was an over exaggeration. It's annoying. I would've loved to see the MC struggle and not bring over any of that damned op "scientific" knowledge of his that makes no sense whatsoever! Its The chip! The damn chip is like god powers! The f*ck? Analyzing bloodline to the very molecules? Oh motherfu-.

I was left utterly disappointed. Like many other novels, the world centers around the MC. Unexplainable plot holes pop up like a finger constant pressed on the machine guns' trigger. It's like water, bleak and bland. Idk. To me, it seems over rated.

All the people crying about him using the AI chip. Do you go to the library and whip out a dictionary or encyclopedia if you dont know something? Or do you use google? He can so he will.

About the no love or romance... Its a GOOD thing, 15/17 isekai novels im reading, have a s*ave/dansel in distress that was bought/saved and sticks to the MC. It just worsens the quality of the novel, they are just deadweight. Our MC having no love affairs is a refreshing feeling.

In this novel you can feel the growth of the MC. The first chapters were a little bit heavy, but after the story just flows smoothly. Great novel, the MC is cold and calculative, instead of those annoying airheaded or idealistic MCs from other stories. His ambition is to be inmortal, for that he has to become strong and not rely on anyone. Great plot, great depht. Hreat novel 10/5
