This is similar to BTTH, but much better because there are no romance where the MC is followed around (secretly?) by a closet yandere heroine. Being already OP as alchemist also really helps.

Now waiting to see whether the storyline will match the better settings though.

It has all the typical Xianxia plots etc.. But despite this it doesn't feel old & boring rather its executed well enough that its enjoyable.
The biggest drawback is the nosy females and how he can't deal with them just so we could get some BS Forced "romance" I don't care if it does or doesn't have romance but the way this story does it is very childish given who the MC is and his interaction with females is cringe worthy and quite unrealistic. The story portrays him as some... more>> very intelligent, methodical expert that is unfazed no matter the situation and is able to deal with anyone because of his past life but then, he some how fails to deal with the "peerless beauties"?! Bugger Off.

Chapter 86 so I may change my review but I doubt it because 50+ chapters is enough to know the authors direction. <<less

Lame. That pretty much sums up the novel. It feels like a poor quality mash-up of other xianxia. All the dialogue and interactions between characters feels incredibly fake and forced. It’s just a low quality xianxia. Usually I would say if you’re bored you could give it a try, but this time I can’t. That’s just how fake and lame this novel feels. Actually comparing this to ISSTH is like comparing dogsh*t to diamonds. At best this novel could get 3 stars. Rating this 5 stars is utter nonsense. 5... more>> stars means ‘perfect’ (or close to). Can you honestly tell me this novel is ‘perfect’? Then again the ratings on this site don’t mean anything and are complete crap. <<less

This is another reincarnation story but it is definitely worth reading as it is different from the others thus far in that the MC is primary an alchemist. Which is nice because most of the time it just seems to be a hobby for MC's.

First 40 chapter I enjoyed but after that it starts to get boring its slows down with unnecessary bullies and thing like that. It takes too long to get martial disciple rank power ups he get not that great and the final and most annoying thing

Spoiler

His martial spirit turn out to be female and she is imprisoned in his body (so she is his martial spirit but not his power other spirits are one of the power of host but ye zifeng can't use spirits power without his spirits permission so he can only borrow that power and that mean his martial spirit not actually his) after talking ye zifeng proposes making a blood contract she is going to help him until he reaches martial practitioner and after he became one he is going to find a way to free her. I don't know what happens after that because I dropped it

The "complete" tag on this novel is misleading, as the author said that there were supposed to be more chapters coming. I believe "hiatus" is a more fitting term, similar to the way "Id" is on hiatus. Using the correct term helps readers who are looking for stories with a beginning, middle, and, most importantly, an end from beginning a series which does not contain one.

The story itself is decent, although like other xianxia the protagonist veers between being intelligent and making sure that enemies aren't capable of harming him,... more>> and being an idiot who leaves plenty of enemies lots of room to make trouble for him and his family. <<less

This novel which gets rid of that bitter aftertaste you had with the other series. I would say this series is wonderful, but it's actually true to the point of being an alchemy series. It's not fighting series that happens to use alchemy instead it's an alchemy series that happens to fight sometimes. There's nothing special besides the original idea, but neither is there anything apparently bad. Certainly this novel wouldn't be for everyone, so I suggest it to those who prefer story with something like medicine, or the mental... more>> arts. I certainly enjoyed this series a lot for what is and not what it is like. Other Series to recommend: Parallel Pharmacy. <<less

As of Ch.25.

While not offering anything new, the story moves along fast enough as it goes through the usual motions. Those who are used to reading the genre would find an average premise: the greatest pill alchemist finds himself transmigrated into the body of a talentless boy. He faces the usual challenges of receiving mockery from fellow clan members, bullying from his peers and neglect from his father. Fortunately he still has a faithful and powerful younger sister-like figure who adores him.

The MC is confident as he retains all his... more>> experiences and memories of pill refining. Basically you're going to read about a pill-popping hero who defeats higher-ranked antagonists due to steroid enhancements. There isn't an interesting reason for the MC to have transmigrated in the first place, he was simply killed in a pill-refining accident.

Dialogue is simple and comparable to other average series, but the plot events are nothing new: duels, betting, completing missions for sect contribution points, hiding his true skills etc etc. The only remotely interesting character is a self-indulgent girl alchemist whose persistence is becoming a gag.

Translated well and released at a fast rate, it can be a decent time filler. <<less

The story is quiet nice, it does have the cliche where the MC is reincarnated into someone who is considered to be tr*sh, and eventually reveals his strength (but he still hasn’t revealed his amazing alchemy skills to everyone yet) making some to look at him in a different way. If you like I Shall Seal the Heavens, or Wu Don Quian Qu, I believe you would also like this novel.

Ahh where should I start? The cliche plot of being the greatest alchemist in your previous life has been used again. It has all the same plots of alchemy such cliche stuff and everything. But I have to say this is the worst one by far. For some reason these supreme cultivators can’t deal with crying little girls? I dare say I haven’t seen him take a life yet when so many times cannon fodder grunts make trouble for him and try to kill him. He has the notion that... more>> taking someone’s treasures is enough forgiveness for attempted mu*der.

The harem is too forced. The girl is a pampered little bit*h that does nothing but act in love with the MC. Her existence is merely to extend the words of the novel that’s all. She has no use in the plot. The MC is such a “genius” yet he can’t tell that a girl falling purposely on his lap 13 times in a row is showing her affection to him. He has absolutely no idea what it means when a girl has a red face. For someone so smart small things like this shouldn’t phase him but for some reason the author puts some mysoginistic belief that you have to be in love to interact with women. How can he not interact with the other s*x if he was such an expert in his previous life. Just because he had no romantic life doesn’t mean you should make the character have some defiency when dealing with women. It makes the novel look like a joke and whenever I see “supreme previous life” guys can’t seem to deal with the tantrum of a little girl I immediately drop. There’s too much of that I lost count.

Anyways the 1star rating is for the fact that the face slapping has been enjoyable one or two times. But this man is neither forgiving nor merciful. He is straight s*upid. Poor written novel and absolutely no plot even with 100 chapters. <<less

it's... very meh... i've skimmed through the raw and I sort of just wanna punch the MC in the face.... written in a very typical Western low powered fantasy type MC...

It takes a long time to pick up.

Side Characters are actually funny as hell though but the MC is meh.

The writing itself is solid (not translations the raws) the story doesn't really pick up till Chapter 126 so you'll have to wait a bit if you're waiting for TL.

The story is interesting, reincarnated MC is likable, but I must lower the rating because the female characters were annoying AF.

In the beginning, I actually enjoyed this. I'm a fan of alchemy concentrated novels. In terms of stories that contain crafting like pill concoctions and stuff, it is pretty awesome.

This begins as a nice typical reincarnation type novel. Originally known as the strongest alchemist in his previous life and retains all his knowledge in his new life, the MC begins his journey using his knowledge to make his new mediocre talented body to reach the top once again. Sounds nice!

But, this is where my rating of it goes down.... more>> The MC has some cool points. He's intelligent, plans ahead, and has some sort of balance between battling with the mind and body. The bad part.... he's kind of a douche!! Correct that, not kind of, he IS a douche. I don't mind character acting like a boss every now and then, but there has to be a likeable charm to it. In the beginning it was still tolerable, but as the story moves on, this guy for his own gains will do anything to both his allies and enemies.

And also, the "enemies" must be the dumbest people ever written. I understand making an MC look superior, but they are just making it way too easy for the MC. <<less

It is a very nice development of the 'thrash' protagonist genre. The MC lacks self-awareness, but otherwise how would he be OP.

The author's lack of understanding of human relationship, and incompetence with respect to development of the harem is a bummer though.

The reason for dropping - other than the fact that the series has been dropped a few times - is that Babel has the worst machine translation + editing approach to translation. And editing is very light. The editor seems to have very little clue about the characters and... more>> the story. <<less

So far all of the fights that the MC is in end with him demanding that his enemies give him money or treasures and swearing not to bother him again, only to later bother him again anyways regardless of bullsh*t oath. I don't mind this outcome in some instances, but there were many cases were the enemy was after his life and wanted to r*pe his friends, so it makes no sense to leave them alive. So far there are at least 10 people the MC should have killed but... more>> he has not killed anyone.

There's some weird attraction going on between MC and his sister, I think it was hinted that they are not blood related, so it wont be long before she gets stuck in a washing machine and needs her MC Bro to help her out. I'm dropping it before it gets to that. <<less

it is a very interesting novel but after 200+ some chapter I don’t know if the translator was change or so but the translation change into sh*t, I don’t know who is this new translator but for sure he/she is not doing the job properly Plez improve the quality of translation or it isn’t worth the time reading it anymore.

and it’s so confusing either the new translator writing all rubbish, like making female he and male she, and writing 3 different name for same character in the same chapter

This is pretty much like every other cultivation novel. The only difference is that it is COMPLETELY stripped down to it's bare bones. The writing it self is very bare, I mean. Everything that should happen in a cultivation novel does happen, but ONLY that, if that makes sense. It's like the author was following the "Generic Cultivation Novel" script, yet didn't bother to add any of his own ideas to it. Everything in the novel seems extremely two dimensional when compared to most other novels of this sort.

The MC... more>> is just plain bad in my opinion. 5 people surround him and try to kill him? He steals money from them..... ok?.. good revenge I guess? Someone poisons someone close to him? The MC hits him a few times, then strikes the ground next to the guys head, scaring him!!...... Ok... Great revenge I guess? If the author wants the MC to do something it wouldn't make sense for the MC to do normally, he just has a girl cry in front of the MC, because the MC "just doesn't know how to act when a girl starts crying" and gives them whatever they want..... Such a forced way to get the plot moving in the direction the author wants. He just seems very lack luster, as do all characters in this novel. Maybe it was the author's first novel and he moved on to better things, but it just doesn't feel very high quality. <<less

Giving this any more than 3/5 Stars is a JOKE, and it's probably the first novel you've EVER read if you're doing that. I wish NU had a feature to block certain profile's reviews, because seeing some of these 4/5 or 5/5 stars makes me wonder why you bothered to create a profile if you're just gonna 5-star anything and everything. I can't trust anyone who gives this above 3/5. Theory and Suoh95's reviews are spot on.

This is a typical Xianxia, it does all the cliches but just a bit... more>> worse than most other Xianxias I've read. Romance? Pretty bad, it's treated as a comedic gag, but gets tiring real quick. The guy is apparently 'clueless' with woman, so he never gets any hints. Funny for first 3-5 times it happens, when typical scenes that an MC would take advantage of our get embarrassed in, he's just focusing on concocting pills or misunderstanding the situation. But after a while it's just repetitive and makes it feel forced and awkward. Ya girl, you've noticed he's INSANELY dense, so why are you trying the roundabout 'hinting' method for the 30th time?! Oh ya to prolong story and romance...

The 'bad guys?' So far these are the most annoying cliche 'bad guys' I have EVER seen in a novel. Main reason I will be dropping this novel is the 'bad guys' that our MC has to fight against. They don't even feel like real people... All of them say the same thing in different words, they'll say "Ha! You are weaker than me, so how dare you talk back to me! Kowtow 3 times before I slap you!"... Then they fight because "weaker people should bow down when talking back or walking by", which he never does, then that baddie gets beat up, then that baddie has 4-5 siblings that must take revenge one at a time, all using the same lines of "you beat up my brother! You are weak, kowtow to me 3 times! HA!" and then rinse repeat... Literally first 'bad guy' is Liu Yuige, some dude hanging around ex-fiancee of MC. He comes with ex-fiancee to break off engagement with MC. He is so unbelievably rude for no reason, so of course they fight. Rinse repeat for 100 chapters. MC literally just agrees to annulment and the Liu Yuige guy starts screaming about "You shouldn't talk! Bow down 3 times! Only let your elders speak!" And MC goes "this is my marriage, I can talk." And they go back and forth on this..... ON THIS... MC agreed to annulment and they just wanna fight on whether he should be allowed to open his mouth.... SO BORING... They are SOOO boring, they literally have ZERO reasons to fight our MC. Nothing with even a drop of creativity. No 'you stole my woman' or 'our family has a long history of conflict' or 'you have this treasure on you' or ANY reason. It is ALWAYS "you are the weak son of Li family, how dare you not bow down to me when talking? I will kill you now!".... After the like 12th time you're gonna be scratching your head wondering if someone will ever fight for an actual reason.

Also the story keeps doing things that just make no sense, Like people acting out of character just to progress a plot point that can make our MC look badass a little later. It completely takes me out of the story. Like VERY forced plot writings. Here are 2 examples. In an alchemy competition, they have 5 clans come and compete, and in first round, 2 clans are eliminated, leaving top 3 to compete. The FML that our MC is with has always placed last, so she is getting ridiculed yada-yada. Some people say that she shouldn't be able to come back after losing so many times in a row. So our MC says "those who do not place in top 3 this time, should never be able to return to compete", and the elders just accept his idea and implement it, instantly... from a stranger, who's not even directly competing. It's an absurd rule that makes no sense, so why? Because MC is gonna screw over baddies!! Yay! Why if you get 4th place, would you never be able to compete in this competition again? Or even for a year? It makes Zero sense why those elders would agree. This happens alot, where you'll wonder "why and how did the story let that happen? It makes no sense.." Then you'll realize, "oh they're setting up our MC to look awesome I guess"... Another example is right before this, some character is making fun of our MC and FML, so our MC gets talks him into signing a blood oath contract that he will buy whatever pill they make during the competition, at cost of his life/cultivation. Like... Who would do that with a stranger they just met? So absurd...

I also think MC is pretty bland. This always happens for me if they don't have a strongly distinct personality (which he doesn't) or there isn't good internal dialogue to show you what MC is thinking/struggling with. I love when Authors do that, as it shows MC's though process, and we learn about them.. Doesn't happen with this MC too often, and if it does it's never conflicting internal dialogue, it's more along the lines of "After this I can increase my cultivation and start doing this and searching for that!". So ya I just don't feel this MC's personality or thought process stand out, so I'm gonna forget all about this MC in like 3 days after reading the story. <<less

At the beginning, I thought the plot was a bit similar to that of "Alchemy Emperor of Divine Dao", it was a bit similar but felt it somewhat single tracked, lacking some decent villains for the story. May be it's because it's just the first volume (author says so in ch 602). As per MC's cultivation pace, it's bit irregular as he starts slowly and crosses big realms in the span of dozen days.
The disappointing thing is about MC not killing his enemies, (none so far, as far as... more>> I can remember)
Spoiler

there were many who tried to kill MC, some multiple times, MC never killed any of them, to avoid troubles. Yes, zero so far. The only time he wanted to kill, that guy committed su*cide in return for a small promise

[collapse]

Romance is forced, MC acts like a dunce every-time when it comes to romance. But he's a genius and great schemer when thwarting his enemies' plans ahead of time.

Overall, good basic plot is there, but author neglected other characters much. And there are no decent sub plots. May be He/She could've done better in next volumes. Sadly it was stopped. <<less
