A really good novel. I'm totally hooked.

Necromancer developing OP MC. Not absolutely cold, but he's pretty ruthless.

Although the story seems kinda dark, I feel like it has a greyish tone. Like there's hope. I like that.

The world is designed well. Lots of mystery and cool details.

Characters are interesting and memorable. It might seem boring at the start, but it gets much more interesting quickly.

Did you like Reincarnator? Well you'll like this more.

The rpg system that serves as the framework for a lot of the novel's interactions is quite traditional, if I had to describe it, it resembles Legendary Moonlight Sculptor's in a sense but it's very cleanly executed and it brings the world and it's characters to life. Stats aren't the end-all-be-all so it's very refreshing to get away from the overly simplistic power-level head banging to a more creative, subtle means of interacting with the world. Although I haven't seen anything like... more>> a crafting system or the like, the combat is quite satisfying and entertaining to read. The author does not drag out scenes and will always bring things straight to the point in a clean, concise and satisfying manner. In this sense, the pacing is great and you always feel as if something exciting or interesting is going on.

The plot and the main character himself is quite interesting, since there's a lot to be explored in this post-apocalyptic mmo-resembling world. The MC himself is simply a bad-ass. He just gets things done and that's the end of it. Despite having had his emotions and pscyhe practically mu*dered in his past life, you can see hints of the human behind his cold facade and it's quite nice to see him slowly start to develop these kinds of reactions and interactions towards other people.

In any case, if you liked LMS and/or reincarnator, you will like this as well. In my opinion, at least so far, it's even better than the aforementioned novels. Come give this novel a read. <<less

Now this. This is a series about a necromancer. So many series boast about having necromancers but they are all done wrong. But this does it so right and it feels great.

edit: I liked this more than reincarnator for a while because this MC still had meaningful social interaction with others. Now they've switched roles as of 2/16/17, Reincarnator has social interaction, while this is just grind, grow stronger, grind again. 3.75/5

A little early in the story to tell, but so far it seems to be the best in it's genre. A group/world forced to participate in a death game with game elements. It also has the sub-genre of being reincarnated back in time for a second chance.

It is right along... more>> the lines of Reincarnator, though in my opinion it is superior by at least a star. Better characters, better MC, better story.

Similar novels I've read: Reincarnator, Terror Infinity, Life mission, evolutionary theory of a hunter, Killing Grounds of Gods and Devils, god and devil world, gate of revelation,... I'm forgetting a few, but King of the Battlefield is my favorite of the bunch. Though, GDW and KGGD are average, and GOR is pretty terrible imo.

A definite worthwhile read, and in my top 10 novels on this site out of ~100. <<less

Starts okay. MC came from the past. People are 2D characters but still okay. However, the last chapters and ending sucks. Its a turn off if opinions are laid into the table and here's an MC that is 100% correct while others are not. There's really no tension anymore, I expected a catharsis/ explosion with all the build up though. The story peak villains are too s*upid I guess. And the MC is just the cool dude that have everything go his way even though he was saying it wasn't.... more>> Please author! Make the MC flawed! Question himself or cursed out loud knowing that he is only someone created by a higher being or one of the insects put into the pot! Why make it obvious that everything is only illusion or fake? And the only real is MC's motivation? Aren't Solomon and Baal have motivation too? That alone downplayed the Villains with large degree! We won't excited by that!

If I have to give a star then I'll only give 1 star each about the premise and the built up of his revenge against the master of the Assassin Forest. <<less

I came into this expecting some good LitRPG kingdom building & escalating warfare; however once it finally appears, it ends up being pretty brain-dead & straightforward. Primarily this is the generic S. Korean, 2nd Chance, Apocalyptic, Transmigrator No. 33. With the stoic lone wolf MC Muyoung, hiding said knowledge, as he steamrolls ahead, to somehow save humanity.

And since he believes he has to go solo, then of course he has to have a super rare Melee + Necro class. With all that said, the story as a whole is pretty... more>> solid, going through fights at a steady clip. At least the author learns and allows the characters (main & side) to go on their own fulfilling journeys to grow and develop, right up until the cluster-f*ck of an ending. That I'll likely forget, shortly after I finish this sentence. <<less

So here is the thing, the author doesn't know how to right descriptions, like scenery, environments, races... anything really.

The story itself is not that much neither, being that the MC is a blank sleeve with no development or whatsoever. The side characters also don't have much going for them, basically everything is too one dimension and rather plain. But the ideas are somewhat good, in the sense that the MC is mostly doing things in a rather unconventional method to get the job done (even if plot armor is ALWAYS... more>> on his side).

Overall it's entertaining if you and to turn off your mind and just read a story to pass time.

PS:. Recommend being high when reading <<less

So this story at best is crap. For starters he gains this new form from asura a actual god to turn into a diani I think they are called, literally almost immediately after he enters the world. Ok that's bullsh*t but we'll take it, actually makes him interesting. In the "tutorial" faze he gains the blessing of the one of the demon gods gremeory, she just isn't aware that she ever blessed him when they meet.

Remember how asura gave him a new form well ya that's gone. So he meets... more>> one of the Masters of Darkness they are basically this overpowered club that doesn't interact with the weaklings which is actually everyone. This guy is called King Slayer and he teaches the MC for a week. From this our edgy little boi learns two things that are lazy and uninteresting. So he can now just manipulate time for literally no reason. Can't even manipulate time properly cause the author doesn't actually know what he's talking about. So the MC can make himself seem slow but he's actually going faster than you can perceive him which actually means you wouldn't be able to see the sword. His other ability is called grains, if you can see and strike said grains it's an instant kill. These two abilities are lazy and poorly thought out one shouldn't even work the way he thinks it does cause it's just a sword technique not a skill and the other he just somehow can see grains without any real reason. Also about grains he has two one that represents his human form and the other is non human form. So remember that cool look he has and all around superior power well now there is a limit to that. Now cause he can actually change back to a human his body can only handle being non human for less than a minute, what amazing logic am I right.

Other people have talked about this but the guy has zero concept of anything. He isn't growing as a person cause then the author would be forced to think and leave behind the friendly neighborhood edge lord. I can't tell if the MC is just s*upid or the author is. When he was dealing with the disordered terror it was established that lawless was the only group involved with its creation but now cause the MC thought it its a joint creation between 3 of the great clans now it is. When writers that are actually s*upid try to make a intelligent character it always ends poorly that's what we have.

Someone else brought this up and so will I. The MC has this weird mentality, if the weak are weak then they can't be strong cause they can only be weak. If we go by his logic then everyone is already as strong as they will ever be. People will be weak if they never had the opportunity to be strong. Also he actually sees the people that follow him as undeserving of his attention and useless and that he doesn't need any of them. Now he realizes that after he completely mixed up the concept of desire with hope and motivation that his people can be nurtured into being strong, so now nothing changes aside from the fact that the people of his territory will be used slightly more often.

In conclusion the MC is stale and boring, the side characters if that's what you want to call them are barely by any better. Woohee is actually a tumor of a character. And the plot makes me feel like I saw my girlfriend have s*x with my dad. All in all this is a solid sh*t story no no no it's not even that cause that's an insult to shit. <<less

At first, this novel was pretty interesting. After a while, things seemed to be dragged on and it was basically the same things over and over again... What made me ultimately stop was

Spoiler

Chapter 159, when he abruptly slept with this priest girl after not showing any attention to the opposite s*x for over 150 chapters. And, as someone who is solely AGAINST ROMANCE OF ANY KIND, this made me incredibly disgusted. Doesn't matter if he slept with her without any emotion, I don't care. I stopped instantly -_- Maybe I would've liked this if there wasn't chapters 159-160...

So I don't recommend reading this, overall. <<less

Dark and hypocritical. The reason I like webnovels is because of the violence and willingness to get one’s hands dirty for success but there has to be a reason. This guy is basically a mass muderer. He says he wants to save humanity but it’s more apt to say he just wants to get stronger and live his own life. He doesn’t help or save anyone and what angers me most is that this is the case with all of humanity. In most stories when the survival of humanity itself... more>> is at stake people unite for the greater good but in this novel they actively clear out those with potential. Like this you don’t even feel bad if humanity dies out and instead feel they deserve it. If you like evil MC and heartless bloodthirsty world without a hint of decency among anyone whatsoever try this. If you’re hoping for any type of relationship or companionship I’d turn away. This is a pure butcher story. <<less

If starts out like reincarnator, at least as far as the tutorial goes in that story, then diverges from there. Different story, builds self up in single world with army and territory as well as his solo adventures, rather than the episodic climb of reincarnator. Still, they feel much the same, if you love one you will like the other. I recommend.

i think the premise of this novel is very interesting. You have a main character who gets to redo his past and save humanity. As of chapter 50, the main character is ruthless and does not care about anyone. This is the problem I have with the novel. Some of you may not agree, but it’s my opinion. How can you want to save humanity but not care for it at the same time. To achieve his goals. He is willing to sacrifice anyone and anything to get what he... more>> wants. He uses people and simply doesn’t care what happens to them. If you’re tryna save humanity, at least show some compassion for the race... <<less

good pacing, good action, and exciting plot line.

cant wait to read more! (Hoping for daily releases though : ()

Now since everyone is comparing this novel to reincarnator, I have another novel to go binge read after this lol. Yay~

Alot better then reincarnator if only the translation was faster, the authors other book was rushed because he was hospitalized and had to rush it, however the story like this one has a terrible very rushed beginning but once everything gets put together it becomes something you can't forget anytime soon. The reason this is better then reincarnator to me is because this story has a faster phase, reincarnator has arcs by different floors basically, the main character keeps doing s*upid flashbacks to what is supposed to happen on the... more>> floor, there are too many characters who appear disappear you don't even remember their names. This story has a similar feeling to LMS if weed was overpowered and in hell instead of a vrmmo. I was just pointing out Reincarnator because people keep saying this book is boring compared to it, when this book is everything reincarnator is missing, a fast phased plot a MC that sticks to his ideals, that book used to knock me out faster then sleeping pills, this doesn't let me sleep. Also dont read 30 chapters and compare to a fast translated book that has been read for hundreds of chapters. <<less

If I could give it a 4.5, I would.

The author did something that most in this genre fail to do. He created a cold and ruthless character that still manages to allow the reader to connect on a certain emotional, if not intellectual, level.

Plain and simple, the MC is a soldier with a mission. He's going to kill the 72 Demon Gods and save humanity in the process. The biggest irony being that the MC himself has no faith in humanity and has virtually given up on his... more>> whole race. However, the author brilliantly offsets the MC's cynicism with the interactions he has with specific characters. Namely, the girl Suzy, her father and the guy with the shield. Personal drive and ambition, coupled with inherent goodness, causes the MC to actually care (I use that term very loosely) for some of these characters and shoulder just a hint of respect. His sheer ruthlessness and cold persona are balanced with small moments that remind you that, yes, he's still human.

The MC possess a soldiers intelligence. In other words, he knows how to adapt and make the most of what he has, but he isn't capable of planning a million steps ahead of the competition like he's Aizen or Lelouch reincarnated. Planning on the spot is this guy's biggest strength in my opinion.

The world building is done fantastically with a great backdrop and a hooking intrigue. The Masters of Darkness really bring a level of fantasy to the the story with a dash of enigma. Who and what they are really makes a reader want to continue on. Demon God Gremory is another pull. As of yet, we absolutely no clue about this powerhouse, but given the fact the character has a connection with her... well, let's just say I'm waiting impatiently and leave it at that.

If there is one gripe with the story, it's that the majority of the 'boss' kills are done by other characters. As a human, the MC is quite good by the standard of the current world. On the supernatural creature scale, he's a chihuahua with a mean bite. All the strongest enemies have been taken down due to pacts or deals he's had with significantly more powerful individuals.

It's definitely worth a read in my opinion. And, if you do read, don't just pay attention to his abilities and stat leveling. Pay attention to how the MC interacts with other characters and the subtle dialogue the author writes. That's where the gem of this novel is. Or, at least, I think so. <<less

I'm ashamed to admit that I like this light novel. It is just shallow so shallow. Plot, characters, fights (fights are ridiculously, poorly written or perhaps its the translator's fault wink wink. Sorry translator-sama I worship you like the good peasant that I am, take my money) and everything is as deep as a kiddie pool. This tricks you to think that there is world building, however it is more akin to world setting. You have no idea for about half of the time where the characters are, when they... more>> are talking. You have the general location but nothing precise. More than half of the time when Muyoung talks to someone, I have no idea where they are. For example, I remember a part in a chapter when Muyoung was talking to some of the humans in the that village he built. However, when I tried to recall where they were exactly, I had no idea at all where they were. Was Muyoung having conversation outside? Perhaps in his Kitchen? Heck it could have been on the moon for all I know. The second aspect that hurts this story is the lack of real struggle. Do you want to read a story of an underdog or someone who has a tough time in his conflicts? F*ck that, Muyoung is jesus and you should worship the ground he walks on.

I guess the last straw would the characters especially Muyoung, however you see the reason why a lot of people love Muyoung, it's because he actually does things. He actually has ambitions and goals. They may not be very deep or anything, but you can feel his greed and desire to grow strong, and people can relate to those things and cheer for him. Because of that, although he is a far cry of a human being he still has some base of humanity. Unlike, those OP good for nothing beta male bland LN protagonists. Muyoung acts instead of reacting.

if you are looking for good fights, deep story or anything of real substance this isn't the light novel for you. Story arcs end as fast as they begin. Nevertheless, they are short and straight to the plot. My guess is that the author knows that we know that Muyoung is going to survive no matter what, so s/he doesn't bother with the process. I wouldn't call that good writing or acceptable, but chapters are short enough for me to not care that much. It also helps that Muyoung isn't a h**ny teen, or a brain-dead MC that we see in others LNs. So yeah, Muyoung, although he has paper thin personality, is entertaining enough to keep interest into continuing reading. He is like a One piece character, always moving around which keeps people interested into knowing what sort of other shenanigans he might get himself into, and who will he piss-of next.

I know I was kinda being a fangirl/boy about Muyoung and stuff but it is really kind of entertaining read, I would give this a 2.5 out 3 however since that's not possible gonna give a 3 (fanboy/girl, Muyoungtard I know I know). <<less

On a basic level this novel is similar to Reincarnator, however there are a few problem that really pull this novel down.

1. The setting: The story is that Solomon has sealed 72 great demons in the so called Underworld. He has also created a mechanism that would, over a long stretch of time, summon humanity to the underworld to fight these demons. Before entering the Underworld humans are put through a tutorial. Problem is that this tutorial is pretty much a meat-grinder in which only those with the best performance... more>> receive food. This promotes the survival and development of egoistic and ruthless people, making it impossible to fight the demons and their armies united because everyone is only looking out for themselfes. This kind of setting makes sense in a novel like Reincarnator where it all happens for the amus**ent of a higher entity, but here it would make more sense to actually train the combatants and turn them into an organized army rather than to divide and conquer (the conquering being done by the demons). Solomon most definitely wasn't lacking in resources. I suspect that all of this actually IS a game for the amus**ent of some higher entities, specifically the masters of darkness. But its still mind-boggling that not one of the characters ever questioned the whole thing.

2. The MC's power growth:
At this point in the story (c70) he already has three growing powers, each one of which would suffice to make him one of the 10 strongest humans. And then there still are all the other OP items and abilities. Most of these things he just happens to find randomly without using his past knowledge. If the story continues this way I can't imagine how anyone could take it seriously if the MC finds a cheat like power or item every few tens of chapters. <<less

This story oddly reminds me of I Shall Seal the Heavens

It has an epic atmosphere of the MC fighting through the lands, creating miracles everywhere he goes, and adding on incredible things to his arsenal to go cause more miracles.

On the other hand, I think this is one of those stories where the MC will never lose a fight. There's never a doubt that the MC will not win, which can take away from the enjoyment for some people.

Excellent. An overpowered MC that has a REASON for being overpowered. Furthermore, he isn't a hero of justice or whatever. He just wants to help humanity avoid extinction. Yet he doesn't mind getting rid of the useless or evil ones. This is a story about the MC's ambition and he acts human. Not overly kind nor overly cruel. It actually feels like he is an assassin trying to right some wrongs but totally unapologetic for any of his actions because he simply follows what he thinks is the correct path...... more>> which isn't always the most "holy" path but is the "correct" path nonetheless. I've read reincarnator. This is better in my opinion due to the pacing and MC, but even for those who disagree, most can't help but admit that this is at least as good as reincarnator. <<less

This is similar to reincarnator. However the MC looks more wiser. Before time travel, he did finish the revenge, unlike reincarnator who failed and being chased. I like how the MC behave and ignore the lust for woman. The companion looks to have its character too (so far they are little girl valkyrie, white knight, and yelling assasin)..
