I simply love every entertainment circle stories written by this author. All her characters are interesting, her plot always well-thought out, and the romance part always left me wanting more. She has like 5 showbiz novels, and yet every one of them have their own unique charm that makes them differ from each other.

This story is no exception. One thing I love the most about this story is how human the characters are. We have a MC who is so amazing at modelling but basically fails at anything else (acting,... more>> singing), and we have a ML who might seems so perfect and composed but actually a big dork inside (esp when it comes to MC).

And just like most the author other stories, the romance in this want is slow-build as well. But it is very well paced, and nothing feels rushed and dragged at all. In fact, imo the slow-build is one of the charm of this story.

Trust me people, this novel is worth reading. Very much so. Ugh, actually just check out all of her novels. I have yet to be disappointed in any of them. <<less

Only 26 chapters have been posted but I what I have read is wonderful! I smiled for 26 chapters which basically doesn't happen. The translation made me forget it wasn't originally in English.

It might just be me but when I originally read the summary I thought the story started with him already in a relationship with ML which made me hesitant to start reading due to preference. The story starts at a broken relationship and then the development of a career and new relationship.

This novel is difficult to read, for a lot of the reasons that I already expected given the negative reviews. Still, I thought I could handle it, since there's also some really positive reviews, but alas this felt more a waste of time to read than anything.

Even though I'm Chinese, the level of nationalism was just tiring to read with the constant talk of how Huaxia has been oppressed before and how Huaxia is now thriving and Huaxia is the best etc etc. Dialogue is also very stilted and there's... more>> too many emojis used instead of actual written descriptions. I know it's a webnovel, but this gives Wattpad.

MC's modeling journey success is also measured by a ridiculous supermodel ranking and a fan count, which both shoot up absurdly quickly. He's just too OP for me, in a job that really is less dependent on skill than it is on nepotism. I can get it for acting when a character rises so quickly above the rest, but modeling really doesn't work like this.

I'm actively losing brain cells at how much energy it takes to constantly suspend disbelief while reading this. What is this supposed aura that's always oppressing everyone that isn't MC or ML when those two walk into a room, is this even reality anymore? Beauty standards are so subjective, I also struggle to see how MC just by virtue of his appearance can be so much better than everyone else. Makes no sense.

I'm just going to go ahead and stop reading early so I don't waste any more time on this. Really can't see myself reading another 200 chapters of this nonsense. I do like the other novels I've read from this author, so it's just unfortunate that this one is so unbearable. <<less

Supposedly slice of life, but more like a 200+ chapter hagiography of the protagonist. It feels as if every situation and every character was written specifically to show off how great the MC is rather than to build a plot where he naturally shines. Typical praise fest affair.

I normally don't mind an overpowered protagonist, but there needs to be substance to support such a character, the "overpowerdness" itself can't be the only hook. I rated "The Earth is Online" (by the same author) 4, which is a high rating for... more>> me, because there was enough substance to support the overpowered characters. I can still remember the thrill and creative settings even more than a year later. This novel? It has no substance. The entirety of it is about how everyone pales in comparison to the MC. No one in the world but him can pull off certain outfits, his performance is "so excellent it can't be described in any language" (literal quote), no one but him fits that movie role (despite him being very bad at acting) and the director would rather delete the role from the script than give it to someone else. Even the most outstanding people in the industry somehow become unworthy and incapable in front of him.

Everyone is mesmerized by his beauty and temperament, and those who aren't are definitely "bad people". "Bad people" here are not actual people, they're target practice cardboard cutouts. One dimensional face slapping cannon fodder who are petty for no reason and infinitely s*upid, designed specifically for the MC to face-slap or the ML to bully. When I say infinitely, I mean it literally. They pick on him in the s*upidest least self aware ways, the lowest hanging fruit possible - no creativity or nuance at all. For example, a mama's boy white supremacist who is very vocal about it, or a vocal homophobe in a fictional China where homosexuality is well tolerated. Is there a bar lower than that? Do we even need to read to know how it ends? All "bad people" are in the same vein. As if that wasn't predictable enough, many of them follow the exact same pattern: accuse the MC of something they themselves have done (told you, s*upid), then get exposed for doing that very thing. Of course, everyone who does not worship the MC gets the bad ending, that goes without saying. Even the "bad person's" assistant is "bad" and has a bad ending for doing milder things than the ML's assistant (who is "good", of course. Violence and coercion are not bad at all). This double standard exists everywhere. Suppressing smaller models is so bad and despicable it deserves complete social death when it's a "bad person", but when the ML does it (excessively, I must add), it only deserves a "hehe, you're so adorably bad".

The only saving grace is that the MC is not a clueless little girl whose purity transcends all mortal desires. He's smart with good emotional intelligence and normal feelings and desires. He's okay. A little arrogant/cruel/villainous/xenophobic at times, which I'm fine with - I like imperfections. The ML, on the other hand, is your typical "domineering president" type with your typical fragile masculinity who has no other layers and no other job in the novel except to conform to the stereotype. I also liked the cool choice of naturally getting together after a phase of ambiguity (which the MC was surprisingly aware of) without needing a cliche love confession scene. I think that's the only part I liked in the entire novel. Too bad that good things only lasted a few chapters, and then it was downhill to more of the same but worse after they got together. <<less

2.5 rating. As a type of reader who will care more for the story's foundation than it's controversial things, the main problem for me in this novel is the repetitive plot sequence and forced humor. As a reader, I'm impatient towards repetitiveness and dislike forced humor so I don't enjoy this novel, but if you are the type of reader who don't mind such thing, then this novel might be a good read for you and just ignore the low rating reviews like this.

I really don't care about the Xenophobia... more>> in this and still read it but it doesn't mean that I condone or support such a thing. Just don't let yourself get brainwashed. If Xenophobia is in the tag, I will still read this novel, just like I will still read novels with other scummy tags of sensitive content and let those not affect my real life perspectives.

I view repetitiveness for character development as necessary when characters actually learned different things in each repeated sequence; but in this novel, the main characters are already OP so they already have an established character and portrayed as almost flawless characters. This being said, I wish that the author just cut out those unnecessary parts and instead just go maximize romantic endeavours between MC and ML.

The humor is so terrible in this that I physically cringe sometimes. It comes out as forced when the author just let the reader know that it's funny by having a character to laugh a "pfft" in the dialogues. I remind myself when I read those parts that: "Oh, so this part is supposed to be funny." while having a straight face. And this "humor" was also used as a means for superiority complex. This aspect really affected my enjoyment of this novel. It give the characters a try hard vibe for me.

Personal grievances of mine would be the excessive emoticons... I sometimes feel this was not a novel because of many emoticons. The QAQ emoticon was the one I loved the most in danmei's and most danmei's only ever used this emoticon. But in this novel, there are so many emoticon used that I just cringe at it (connected as to portray "humor"), when the author can just describe in words the expression or the emotion of those characters. Those emoticons is like a form of lazy writing. It would be funny in words, moreso if metaphors were used as well. Anyways, this is a subjective thing.

I would have rated this as 4 star because repetitiveness and forced humor just enough for me to just deduct 1 rating, but before reading Rebirth of Supermodel, I finished reading How to Feed an Abyss and the latter is an amazing danmei read that it set the bar high for me. Granted, they are not the same genre, it's just that on fundamental things like characterizations, plot structure, overall writing, etc., when you read an amazing novel, you can't help but compare the next novel and would see the lacking qualities. I actually sympathize to the side characters of good and bad type of people in a quality danmei read because they have soul and not just being ridiculed or putting someone on high pedestal and they have self reflections; in this novel, it's more on being mean to the MC or being in good terms with them and that just about it.

I really can't believe I managed to finished this lololol. I actually finished reading this novel even though I want to drop it. It's just because of my stubborness to finish novels no matter if I don't like it and I just have too much time. <<less

This novel has been the best entertainment novel I've read so far. The relationship between the MC and ML was super sweet and their accomplishments were so satisfying. I've literally never cared for modeling before, but this novel had me looking at modeling videos on YouTube for a week afterwards, just to get the sense of adrenaline I felt during the high tension scenes. The author had such a way with words making something I didn't find interesting, modeling, into something fantastic. Definitely worth the read.

Don't get my ratings wrong as I do really like the story. The rating is for other future readers to be aware that they may dislike certain parts of the story and avoid early if they are really uncomfortable with it, cuz I myself found it quite annoying sometimes.

Things you may mind (but I don't much) :

    • The story is overly patriotic towards China
    • Tends to have a superiority complex cuz they are a number one country in the story
    • Extreme racism (towards Huaxia people by westerners)
    • The story is too stretched that can be actually shorten so it can be boring
    • MC and ML being over achiever and OP
But don't let this things discourage you if you don't mind those things much as the story is really good and fun cuz MC and ML are really funny

Their relationship is not like others who are super sticky and sweet, instead they are a wild type couple haha. They do love to banter, tease each other and doing roleplay on bed hahahaha. They both have their own career and considerate towards each other. ML didn't baby MC, he knows his darling's strength and let him advance using his own strength while only protecting him from malicious people.

I agree with the top reviewer about the xenophobia, they covered all of the topics that I have issues about in this novel.

Honestly it's not that bad but the author is just terribly childish when writing this story and overly patriotic towards china, as she is from china. Final cut : childish story and a lot of filler type chapters. Absolutely not necessary to read all of the chapters, I would probably just stop reading when they come out to the world since the rest of it is really boring... more>> to me

While it's not bad, I kinda lost interest in reading it because there is nothing interesting going on. I was hoping it would be something like My Husband is Suffering from a Terminal Illness without the superpowers and the, well, illness, but it's just.. Kinda boring.

It is funny to see that one reviewer where they completely lost their sh*t over basic comments though, small things. (I've read up to ch46 and didn't see anything racist, so their baseless claim of it throughout the whole book is hilarious.)

First of all, if u r searching the fluffy BL type of novel this isn't for u. This is the type (which is rare) where u find the overbearing ML and an equally overbearing MC, the shou has quite the powerful personality which I like as a form of change from the generally gentle type, u'll find that the interaction of the main couple is like a competition of some sort and they r both too proud to express their feelings with confessions and words, they do it physically in... more>> a a struggle for dominance where they both refuse to give in but in that kind of tension u find them actually quite sweet as that is their way of communication where mere looks explains alot, u'll also find a battle of wits between them which actually makes it alot more interesting. In fact u might get the illusion that MC is somewhat backed by ML but it's actually not he only watches behind him as he grows powerful enough to stand by his side (of course there is support but it's auxiliary nd sometimes funny) I would've liked it if the author let on on the ML thoughts more from time to time, coming across as mysterious makes it abit hard to understand him nd even pass as 2D caracter, ML is the stereotypical cold domineering man but when they mention his thoughts smtimes it gives more depth to his personality, MC smtimes is unbearable in his tsundeering but he passes as a good strong youth, both of them being OP is quite enriching to the story they just dont have enough plot to undergo a good story, MC practically has 2 or 3 villains he deals with quite easily with ML's help that's all, no challenges re spotted his success was smooth to say the least so.. Apart from that, I quite like the descriptions about his temperament and aura when doings shows and shootings it gives way to vivid imaginations although smtimes it's way exaggerated, I mean this is not a martial art novel that MC nd ML express their powerful auras nd pressure others all the time that they intimidate ppl, I mean keep some reality element to the novel please, once that balance is broken it seems surreal, rebirth stories are my favorite because despite the concept being totally impossible it gives a bit of reality to convince u to keep using logic while reading, well I noticed others mention racism and stuff, well.. It's quite simpler than that in my opinion, I noticed that the author wanted to give another possibility that could've existed when china surpassed Europe and US, maybe as chineese he wished such a world so his world building was the way it is which is completely reasonable to me, who wouldn't want his country as the leader and to be feared, besides he only mentioned being leader in fashion and entertainment wich is the focus of the events occuring, and the mention about racism and the way dealt wirh is also reasonable according to the world setting, I mean try badmouthing US and curse at its ppl that way and u would see a bigger reaction in today's world so for the chineese ppl in the novel who are the world's leaders.. Well what did u expect? Everything seems reasonable to me, the only backside is the absence of big challenges to the story as a whole. I still rate this as 4 stars coz I wasn't bored reading it even when I find it lacking, it's quite refreshing. <<less

The beginning is subpar, the middle atrocious, but the end is satisfyingly sweet. Don't read with outstanding expectations.

I understand where the low ratings are coming from, and a part of me wants to give this story a lower rating, but I binge read this within a week and the ultimate truth is: this story took more than a week for the author to write; for the translator to translate. I respect both the author and the translator for working on this story, and I also have to acknowledge that I... more>> read all of this for free and without benefit for the author.

Here are the pros:

    • Sickeningly sweet ending for the main couple. I don't count this as a spoiler but their interactions near the end just made it worth reading.
    • Pretty unique couple dynamic. Well... I didn't really feel this until more towards the end.
    • The MC has a main goal. Sounds basic but it was fundamental to why I continued reading.
    • Likeable MC. He's a little too overpowered, but even then... I still liked little mushroom (* )
Here are the cons:

    • Everyone opposing the main couple has an IQ of <20. Some problems start off with a grey moral tone, but all of them end black and white.
    • The greatest antagonist of this story is how boring and repetitive it gets in the middle; there's no real struggle. If the MC isn't gaining followers or face slapping cannonfodder through Weibo, he's riding the ML's third thick golden thigh.
    • Obnoxiously strong nationalism. Huaxia is always on top, to the point that a lot of this novel will sound ignorant.
    • East-Asian beauty standards: pale, skinny, tall and three-dimensional? (I didn't understand it too much but know that this is stated a lot.) There is no other representation which is a pretty huge flaw for a novel centered on the global beauty/modeling industry.
I recommend this novel to anyone who feels like reading a very simple but equally as sweet story. <<less

What I loved the most is the characte design. No one is perfect, even bad people can love even if we know and they know that they don't deserve it. But like in real life nothing is entirely black or white. Life is gray and people aren't two dimensional beings it all come down to our choices. Choice to believe, to get revenge, to forgive, to hate or to love. The story isn't that dark and serious and even funny sometimes but what truly touched me was the ending and... more>> the extras. If you liked the authors other work The Earth is Online DON'T read this.

I'm not sure sure if this is just a much earlier novel, but all the skill, realism, and well developed relationships/characters that went into that are worse than lacking in this novel.

Sigh. I don't even know where to start.

I've been reading CN/KR/JP novels with rebirths, working in the entertainment circle, transmigrations, businesses, farming, etc. The idea of a story based around the fashion industry is a rarer type but I have read them before. May have typos since long review

Pros:

  • It focuses a lot more on the fashion industry and it is relevant. The knowledge that the author imparts is very surface-level but it works because this story is more of a satisfying-your-craving than a genuine high-quality book. It is easy to understand and very nice to read. Kind of addicting.
  • The MC and ML have a good romance. It feels very natural when the two get together rather than a love-at-first-sight-you-are-my-soulmate thing. It's not a slow burn but more like a gradual build-up of feelings until MC becomes of age and they date.
  • MC tries to set boundaries and tries not to get help from ML with his work. (MC is not a weak protagonist)
  • Comedy is pretty amusing.
  • MC moves up so fast in the rankings. It is not that easy in RL but here it is satisfying?

  • So many questions and plot holes.
    1. ML has a strong background relating to his family and is like the "King of the fashion industry" There is very little information about ML in the entire story. We don't even get to meet his family (not counting the aunt).
    2. In the story, it is said that ML showed up with the founder of Ji and Ya at 15. Then at 21, the founder dies and he is now chief designer. Within that time he became a model. There is no information about the founder at all other than her name and that she brought Ji and Ya up to be one of the best.
    3. Also, the ML is a (fairly major) shareholder of Muse. When and how did this happen because Muse was opened for a long time? Not that easy to get shares of a big company... And where is the CEO because certainly, ML is not it? He/she never shows up. They just let him order people around?
  • The Weibo comments and netizens are annoying after a while haha.
  • Side characters lose so much flavor as the story goes on. They had a good plot like the assistant that was super strong/good at her job and should have become an agent but instead became MC's assistant. Like it says she's satisfied but an assistant's job and agent are vastly different. She was obviously unhappy at first but still did her job and now she's all ok? Like she was the top intern who should have directly became an agent for a second-tier model but became an assistant for MC when he was 3rd tier? Muse literally lost a gold-medal agent..... The author gave her 1 chapter: I was unhappy but now I am happy with my job--MC IS GREAT so good-looking haha.
  • People losing their IQ
    • Maddening. >: (
    • People going against MC lose much of their brain cells. Notably, the little villains that show up for a few chapters are smart in like the first 50-100 chapters. Then villains after that just.... braindead
    • For example:

  • Andrew W. went against MC with his racist, arrogant attitude. He acted like a 3-year-old saying that he rules the European and US fashion industry like a prince since his mother, chief designer of Karma (I think) spoils him. He hates MC blah, blah blah, for some s*upid reason. Ok. He is 17. A spoiled brat who had no one to teach him. His s*upidity is valid. So ML appears when Andrew is insulting Huaxia (MC country) and the people. ML retorts and more people show up to stop Andrew from insulting ML because ---he is like King of the fashion industry of the world. Keep in mind that ML is the #1 supermodel in the world (for 8 years), chief designer of the Ji and Ya (1 of 4 or 5 best design studios in the world), and shareholder/valuable model/member of Muse (one of the top modeling agencies in the world that owns Muse Magazine which is like one of the 4 or 5 best magazines for fashion in the world). So offending him is a no-no. Even Andrew was told by his spoiling-mother to not to offend him. He still does but whatever. Andrew is kicked off of the fashion show by his "Uncle", his mom's friend. In disbelief, he tattles to his mommy.
  • Now his Mom is the chief designer for Karma (a first-tier design studio) and his dad is a major shareholder there too. His mom doesn't believe Andrew's story and hears from the agent the true facts. Now, they believe that ML stepped out to defend Huaxia since Andrew Insulted his country and that was when ML appeared out of the shadows to scold Andrew. Mom is like "We need to not offend ML but that small model (MC), I'll show him my might for bullying my son"
  • You would think that she would be smart right? It is not simple being a chief designer of a design studio so prominent and being part of a wealthy family. As the wife, you would think that she would be smarter because with her idiocy, I can not believe her character.
    • Strike 1: Now Andrew hates MC because "MC is a Huaxia person and he entered the list of 300 people in the world that can be considered a supermodel the same time as him, blah blah blah" Ok so Andrew's Mom calls MC a small model. Model tiers from top to bottom are super>first>second>etc. Supermodels work with high-end studios so world's best (ex: Ji and Ya) or first-tier (like Karma). Although MC just entered the ranks of a supermodel, he is qualified to attend first-tier show. Not really a small model.....
    • Strike 2: Out of 300 supermodels in the world, 100 are Huaxia people and MC is pretty popular in his country. Plus he is like 18, super young, and lots of potential. So Muse owns a few of the top supermodels, like probs 20/30. Since MC is so young and a supermodel, Muse would naturally place some importance on him (even w/out ML intervention). Muse is a world-renowned company so... some importance.
    • Strike 3: Most business people are cautious. Can't offend some people. In fashion, that's ML. No offending ML. Certain death and EVERYONE knows it, even Andrew's mom. BUT she thinks that MC has NO connection with ML at all. Is it not sus that ML showed up as your son was defaming MC. No? Ok. That's fine. What about the fact that ML and MC are in the same COMPANY THAT ML IS A SHAREHOLDER OF? If she had done even A BIT OF RESEARCH SHE WOULD HAVE FOUND OUT THAT ML AND MC ARE "FRIENDS"
      • In Huaxia, there was literally a newspaper article about how ML went to MC's workplace for 3 days. He is a busy man and has NEVER done that before
      • What about the fact that they FOLLOW EACH OTHER'S WEIBO???!!!Literally, ML replied to MC and ML DOES NOT GO ON SOCIAL MEDIA!
      • What about the fact that MC has a good relationship with HIGH UP PEOPLE WHO ARE COMPANIONS OF ML?
      • A little bit of research may have saved them. Only Andrew would have been "harmed" but instead MOM IS s*upid.

I know there are LOTS OF CONS compared to pros but overall I think this is a pretty good read that should satisfy your webnovel craving. Just close an eye to the plot holes later in the book. Read up to at least when the two start dating. I think after that the novel goes down in the quality but it's still good.

i reaally like it, the couple are sooo cute and I love their relationship a lot, I laughed alot thro this story. it reaaaallly is funny!! the auther knows how to write lololol, you dont know how good this is!!I do love it and want to give it a 5 stars but cant cuz the only thing that bothers me is that the drama in the middle was not that good, it is not bad (dont get me wrong there are some chef kiss drama and face slaps moments) ... more>>

it is just the antagonits are a little bit dull (I still hate cheng su and he deserves what he got but his last action to attack the MC was so s*upid) and ngl it got a little to long... BUT STILL IT WAS WORTH IT THE ENDING IS GREAT!!

the ML is not your stereotypical-I-have-no-emotion-ML but actually realistic and humane. the mc's past is really sad TTATT. I actually cried a lot that I cant stop at the end when xi ze knew abt it... my god I am still crying.

but other than my eyes are flooding tears and my heart hurting me at the xi ze seeing xiaoyu's past and the aftermath, I laugh so hard at most of the story XD

the netizen are funny too. man did I say how much I love xi ze and ming yu's interaction?? they are soooooo cute and hilarious and so powerfullll!! dfghkkl

tl;dr it is a sweet and light story and happy vibe only (you will cry at some point but that is okay too, just the right amount of angst) their love is so goddam sweet you will eat a lot of dog food

This novel is wholseome for a rebirth story focusing on Modelling. Our Couple slowly being attracted to each other. The MC getting a new start after being killed by a disease on his past life. ML meeting the muse of his life. They complemented each other and completed their other half. It was very touching when ML got to know the MC's past🤧 got teary eyed.

A solid 4.5...

The beginning was a little boring for me, but it might be because I’m not super fond on entertainment/fashion stories. BUT it gets real good after I adjusted to the storyline, not to mention some parts were really touching!

MC is great. He is a good person but he’s not a pushover. ML is very standard doting type but I really like those types in BL, as long as it’s not too over the top.

The romance? Well done! Good pacing and when they get together it’s not too abrupt... more>> but natural. Also it’s not super dragged out or takes 100+ chapters for something to start... thank goodness. Also their banter is hilarious and adorable.

My only complaint is that there was only one chapter of smut... T_T but it’s better than none haha. <<less

Super good! Don't expect super great plots etc. It's a webnovel, light read and crack. Satisfying face slapping when needed.

ML is otherworldly powerful, capable and rich. Some readers don't like these overly exaggerated ML's but it was really good here.
