Honestly, for me, it was a bumpy road. But I'm glad I decided to finish it, the ending felt a bit rushed but other than that I enjoyed how things played out.

Major end spoiler below.

Spoiler

Besides him making a contract with stormhunters at the end honestly made it feel like it wasn't solo play as you would think cause tbh that was the main reason I decided to read this was because he was soloing it out yet he had to get help from guilds a few times in the novel

First I apologize in advance if my English is awful, I am from Brazil and English is obviously not my main language, but let's review it.
This novel is one of the best I have ever, besides being well written and well translated, the story despite being a cliché (game + isekai + NEET), the author knew how to take it to its maximum and in no time the protagonist it seemed to me broken, the skills were credible and different from what many people (* cof * Fooljastic *... more>> cof *) say, even the white wizard class has body modification, and the fact that this game (Warlord) is only tied in archetypes and not in 'jobs', it allows you to have a great variety of classes that, despite not being explored, are not a totally abandoned concept, with some examples here and there.
The only thing that made me really sad was that this novel was short-lived, but I believe that the author gave an indirect explanation in the final chapters on why it is so short, I believe that this is due to the author not wanting to invent many strange things (the meeting of the MC with his ex companion or even a romance with Shir), I think it was a little rushed so he doesn't get 5 stars from me <<less

Just good enough yo pass tge time and nothing more.

Honestly, I don't want to call it a bad read simply because it failed to meet expectations.

Oh and the poor to rich tag on this is WRONG! Everything in this book turns into a joke, even the plot, revenge, gaming and MC's resolve.

The book starts out with an into dumpof the game mechanics after rebirth. After that, there is a glaring pothole of lack of information. No info on the mc's growth, his skills, their descriptions. Oh, and the fight scenes... more>> are simply disappointing.

The game world seems to be well structured but a lot is lacking. Because the MC plays solo a lot of info on other aspects of the gameplay, side professions, town's, cities, wars, s other gulds aside from his enemy, and so on are just skipped. Even the titles that are supposed to be the MCs bread and butter lack substantial into. There is no excitement when the MC gains a new title or level because most times the readers don't even know what the title is, its effect, or even get to follow the MC on his thrilling journey to get it.

At a point, the comedy is bland. The plot us a rinse and repeat which is saved hu the short number of chapters.

The MC himself lacks much development other than his constant pushover face and bemoaning for meat. His rival had a lot of depth but there is hardly a real showdown. He turns into the very footmat he fought against being before his rebirth. So what is the point if this novel?

Character development for side characters? Who are the side characters really, does that even exist in this book?

Honestly, it had a new idea but I'm not buying the execution. <<less

It was a good read. Although there were translation errors, you can get past that. If you are a gamer, you will enjoy this one, I'm sure every gamer has thought of standing above the whole world and becoming number 1. This is that. There are a few problems with this novel.

The game:

Spoiler

The game is so f*cking expensive!! I get it, it's VR so the technology must be expensive, but the item costs my god. Sure it exists irl, but those are the items!!! The MC's skills cost MONEY!!! Like big money to use a single skill!! It should just use mana wtf!! He has to buy ingredients every time he uses his skills...

[collapse]

The ending:

Spoiler

It is abrupt. But in my opinion it is a great ending. Of course it would be better if the novel was longer, but towards the end the money spent on the game is insane (spoiler above explains wtf pay to use skill game?) that is a bullsh*t game and it shouldn't exist so it's good that it ended. The saying that everything has to come to an end was used and I agree with it fully. That game can't run forever. Any game can't, there has to be improvements or sequels. In the end the only problem with this novel is the addiction to candy in coffee????? Wtf is that, also why he still malnourished at the end? And author should have atleast added a second epilogue wtf, he just stuck mc's new irl life in there, not even any bed action with his new girlfriend.

[collapse]

In the end it was an entertaining read for it's concept. <<less

It is not the best or the worst novel, there are several clichés and nonsense... Still it fulfills the premise, despite having a half-open ending and does not innovate much to the genre.

  1. When it comes to necromancy this is the best one I have read. MC hyrkan is more focused as a warrior but still the plot Armor makes us accept this. The only thing I didn't like was the ending in which he goes to debt again and ends up working for the one who he hated his whole life I mean he died because of his depression thanks to her.
  2. It may contain unnecessary amounts of self praise and the main problem in all korean novels, power gratification ie how other people think about MC in excessive detail.
  3. He makes a lot of money to loose that shit. Why author if you want to kill him just do it.

The novel is a decent read but it's not great either.

Plotwise, it isn't full on revenge but rather centred on Hyrkan's journey of Solo Play - well, sort of.

As for his character...I say he is an adorable and annoying mess of a guy.

... more>> He has inferior complex in real life but he has great confidence of himself in VR.

I understand that he invested his everything in VR because it is the only platform where he shines.

He spends a lot of money for the game, works equally hard to gain money through paid videos, sponsorship, and conversion of in-game currency, but he never considered of improving his lifestyle or even investing his money.

He is not greedy or over the top arrogant but his pride and short temper gets him chained down.

Like he said, his pride is an expensive bastard.

There's a lot of things to comment on his personality and it was his greatest downfall.

He shined in the game but his real life status is quite ironic. He remained broke and poor.

I have to say that it is quite disappointing and anticlimactic. Also, his life won't get any better. He'll remain a s*ave to his pride.

I have some special mention about the only friend he made in-game, Pitbull.

Pitbull is a casual player and he has quite an eccentric character. He plays the game only to meet the elves and only for them. He is a romanticist but nonetheless a good friend.

I won't mention other characters except for the woman with an ill-fated relationship with Hyrkan - Shir.

Beauty, money, influence - she has it all. Talent for VR games? She has it too.

But her cold and possessive personality gets on my nerves.

She bosses around her guild members as if she owns their lives and it makes me want to strip her of all her dignity and reputation just so she can feel humiliation and vulnerability. I hate her as much as Hyrkan does.

So when Hyrkan decided to join her guild, I was really disappointed.

I expected him to trample on her but the result was anticlimactic. You could say that the MC wasted his second chance big time that he deserves to regret his life choices.

It is a surprising turn of events. A plot twist even. However, it is a bad ending - at least in my opinion.

Although the author managed to make the MC to be as vulnerable as he can be. He is just a human after all. He is not a hero. And certainly not a protagonist. A main charater perhaps in the world of Warlord, but remains a common person in real life.

There several things to nitpick and criticize about the novel but it was a decent read nonetheless. <<less

I was gonna give this a 5/5 but the ending made me give this a 4/5. This makes me sad. Also because the last chapter started well, then f--ing nosedived into horsesh**. Someone said second rate LMS and I would agree to some extent.

When I was looking at other LN, people praised this novel to the heavens. I'd say they were overdoing it. I really liked a lot of the story. The current score of 3.1 is totally s*upid and the people who gave this a 1/5 because they *saw... more>> it all* didn't actually give a meaningful review. If you are giving this a try, stop at chapter 190 or at the start of chapter 191.

Here are the two things that ruined this story for me.

Spoiler
  1. That game company is losing money??? How? Make an official trading site and earn like 1% off of it. Even current games do that.
  2. f*cking IRS at the end ??? And then he has to work for the one he hates? It's not like this was hinted at from the start. Everything major had some sort of hinting to it. And this was just pulled out of thin air. FFS

This novel is pretty good for me. The MC doesn't face many setbacks in his quest for revenge, and it's pretty smooth-sailing with a few bumps in the road. The ending/epilogue is believable and satisfying, especially if you read the first few chapters again. It's not anything amazing, but it's not bad either.

⚠ Don't pick this up expecting complex revenge plots or a forever alone MC ⚠

firs of all, hello ^.^

i dont recommend you to read this story, and thanks.

ilike it at first, it start as most korean novel where something bad happened and MC got accident then he somehow go back to past.

... more>> the interisting way in this story is the MC start from scratch and really put hard work for what he want/interested. Up to this point still good as this story telling about game world with level system skill book and status points.

the author doing pretty well in this part, like he mention as less as possible about status points since at later part of story it will be to much number put there and will be mostly ignored.

but I dont like when the story start progressing in mid and later part, there are many useless talk and and the important story not get caught. It becomes worse in the later part of story where everything is rushed in single chapter while the author pile up tr*sh in mid story.

Spoiler

when worse come to the worse, MC even joined with strom hunter or whatever is it. He not just simply joining as leading ally or equal ally, HE GOT HIMSELF BEING SUBORDINATE UNDER THE PERSON HE SHOULD HATE THE MOST. HE KEEP SAYING "THIS DAMN PRIDE OF MINE" BUT AT THE END HE DOESN'T HAVE ANY PRIDE AT ALL

This was an alright novel, nothing gripping. I skimmed through a lot of it, but this lukewarm reaction's probably personal preference. I enjoy nakama/brotherhood themes a lot but this novel sold itself on solo domination which it delivered. There's just one thing that really PISSED me off and that's the Stormhunters shitshow. His burning hatred for Che Sulyeon went f*cking nowhere. His determination to not work with the Stormhunters disappeared. I'm really ticked off she went by alright and for some reason some other antagonist - ie Apollo - got... more>> the crushing I expected to happen with Stormhunters. Have I just been reading too many Chinese novels lately? This revenge theme really f*ckin failed to deliver.

In conclusion, if you like grinding and solo-play, his hard work really does pay off. DO NOT READ THIS if you're looking to get anything out of a revenge plot. <<less

First like 50 chapters were fun. (Normally the case for second chance novels). Last twenty I felt I had to force myself to read. So averages to 3.5.

I recommend reading until bored. Ending isn't worth forcing yourself through.

Not enough real life elements at all.

I really liked the story, even though it was laking at some points. It's a bit exaggerated how money is spent in video games and specifically in that particular one. I'm giving this a 3/5 because of the last chapters, in which the author basically killed the whole storyline within 3 chapters, which is really disappointing considering the detailed descriptions and humourus acts up to that point.

The story is somewhat interesting, but the game details are really light. The character depth is a little weak as well and the MC doesn't grow as a character at all.

Overall, I enjoyed the story but I wasn't impressed by anything. Whistling Pitbull #1 character.

I'm just saying, all these people saying that the chapters could be condensed down into 3 or 4 chapters from around 10 or so. But as far as im aware, the amount of chapters are not enough, not even close, he should've wrote a hundred more and then finished. Also, if not for the high amount of chapters the detail wouldn't be on par as it is now, with fights dragged out through the chapters, the detail and the way he describes the fights gets me on my seat, waiting.... more>> Although I already know the result as he is the main protagonist, so it's kinda obvious he'll always win. But I keep on reading, not because I want to find out what happens next out of sheer curiosity or whatnot, but by the time I realized then I've already read past tens of chapters. If anything the large amount of chapters are a good thing. I won't comment on the details in the story as there are enough reviews.

Conclusion: good read, you start reading a d it's like a normal, high-end, VRMMO novel. Except when it gets into fights instead of just reading till the end of the fight, you just kinda end up reading tens of chapters just like that. MC is somewhat cunning/smart, although only because he knows the future. No harem. No romance bullshit. Ending was a bit rushed, or the author just can't write endings, either way I enjoyed it all the same. <<less

It is a nice story about second chance which involve VR Games.

In which other novel start with solo and retry by creating guild.

The MC in this novel try the reverse by playing solo.

The MC is too messed up where he didn't put worth in his meal till the end even if he become rich.

And the minus is there is no romance at all with the MC, though there is a possibility, the author ends it with nothing. T_T. So far so good till the ending is feels lacking.

I finished reading this book... To be honest, I read this a long time ago and since then, I went and read it in wuxia every now and then. I held it back by a month because the translation is late sometmes. To think that it ended. My heart is crying right now.

This story is a masterpiece. I'm not joking. This is one of the best VR novels that I have ever read. I like the MC. Although he seems a bit like a push-over, his character is clear. The... more>> eay the author explained the novel is good. The translation is gold.

Spoiler

Ahn Jaehyun or the MC climbed all the way from when he was still a noobs in Necromancer until he became one of the professional players in game especially in solo. Along the way, he makes use of his past memories in which he despised the most because of betrayal as an advantage in gaining a lot of rare items. Of course he got money because that's his important asset.

I'm satisfied with this novel very much. If there's a sequel, I will definitely read it. It's much worth it reading all the way until the last chapter. Truly a good book. <<less

The start is rather good and middle part is okay although somewhat repetitive. As for the ending... it lasts like 6 chapters, is completely rushed and the entire outcome of the story goes completely against MC's believes, motivations and actions till this point... so yea... at the end of the day all one can do is sigh and move on... truly it's been a while since I got so disappointed at the end. Most of the time the stories on this site don't have the translations finished and quite often... more>> I like to complain about it but maybe I shouldn't when I got an ending like this... common at least author could aim for 200 chapters and don't rush things so much.

I would like to mentioned that the opening and middle portion is above average when it comes to VR stories and at the very least unlike most, rather than focusing on gathering more harem members the storyline is really about MC playing this game solo... the story is completely focused on him to the point that at the end of the day, I have trouble naming more than 5 characters of this story... especially given that the last 15 chapters I read after a break.

Other than ending this story really did well but after finally finishing it, I have a thought that I would be better of stopping at those 170 or something chapters. In the end how can one rate highly or recommend a story that disappoints so much. <<less

Nope. Really nope.

The story was mostly ok till around ch100 but then it is a steady decline.

Apart from what bothers other people (it's a lot of things) what makes me really disapponted is:

... more>> NO EXPLAINATION AT ALL FOR SUDDEN TIME REVERSE REINCANATION.

I was hoping till the end that the author wasn't lazy enough to simply skip this part. But he really did. I mean, it's the only thing that makes the MC special... But no this sovrannatural happening is totally fine for him.

I mean c'mon "the world warped reality just so I can better play this game".

... seriously?

It's not even a "special game" like LMS with really high stakes. Nope. Just a normal one with an experimental AI, which is also not really smart. Wow. So interesting.

So if you are interested in a Virtual Reality story but with a decent plot, character or even interesting events... Go search elsewhere. <<less

Fantastic. First webnovel about a VR Game that isn't too exaggerated and where the MC has a clear goal, and know how to accomplish it. The "time travel" is used to give the MC the possibility to become the best even if he started the game later than the other professional gamers
