The first couple volumes of the novel were honestly decent which is where most of rating comes from. Everything before Chu Feng's ascension to the higher world was slightly cliché which is typical in these novels but it was done beautifully.

The MC was likeable if we ignore anything in regards to relationships, there was a lot of story and the world to explore with many questions that plagued the MC and the reader. The author did a wonderful job in building his novel up and making readers desperate for the... more>> new chapters.

Unfortunately after Chu Feng's ascension in the upper world things became a bit down hill.
Spoiler

We learn about Chu Feng's origin, his father in dire straights, and his mother removed from their family because of her background.

[collapse]
That itself is fine but the journey Chu Feng has to go through to strengthen himself and continue forward has become repetitive in it's events and honestly just too long.

The only reason my read chapter count is so high is because I've begun to skip chapters, honestly the events that happen throughout his journey has become so repetitive and predictable that it's become too much of a bore. Even skipping chapters you can generally get a gist of the story. Would recommend to read only if you have a lot of free time. <<less

This was one of the first novels I read, so even if it is generic it was new to me, so I enjoyed the start and binge read the first 300 chapters or so. That said, this is probably the worst novel I have read. The story is super repetitive (literally the same) and its full of mindless MC, faceslapping, praising MC, MC building his harem and making it look like whatever the MC does is smart/ the correct choice. The cultivation progress is literally eating pills like candy.

hi readers

as the description say this is a fight novel so I like it to the extreme the good parts I like

  1. how the hero climb up himself and find luck to get stronger.
  2. how hero think this novel show you how hero is thinking and his character.
  3. i loved the story to the point that it changed my way of thinking in actual life.
  4. there is a tactical fighting.. I mean the hero would amaze you the way he does things... for example when the hero is trapped try to think of a way to get him off... then keep on reading and you will be amazed how he done it... its like wits fight.
the bad points in this novel:

  1. after chapter 1500 the publisher use repeated words.. but its fine with me cause I memorized these phrases and skip them.
  2. after chapter 2000 some events are repeated with extra events... for example at first the hero find a mountain then after some time in another place he find the same mountain but bigger with his lover..
so in general the novel is great and there are allot of haters of this novel and the main reason as I said above. so my advice if you want get the best of this novel try reading until chapter 1500 and once the event finished dont keep on... more>> reading and stop there... becaouse if you keep on reading you will be drawn and without realizing it you will be at chapter 2500.. <<less

Hello! As you're reading this you're either doubting wether or not to read MGA or trying to get back into it? My opinion? Yes, read it. All these shitposts about it being really bad later on is their opinion. How can you decide something like that off of other people's decisions? Regardless, Yes, there will be less exciting parts in the novel than let's say Against the gods but that's just how Bee (author) decided to write the story..

Now, for a quick warning: If you plan to read this on... more>> Wuxiaworld. Com i'd advice you to not look at the comments underneath the chapter. I've read MGA twice now up till chapter 2500+ and dropped it twice due to toxic comments making it less and less exciting/motivating for me to read. (Yes, it's that bad..)

I've commented multiple times under those comments saying things like: People are actually enjoying this so could you move your complaining elsewhere please? But they always seem to get downvoted to a ridiculous extend.

Now, for the actual novel: I really really like it, period. Yes, there are bs chapters in there and YES I have also skimmed through lesser exciting chapters but regardless I'm still reading daily and really enjoying it. If you're a person to not easily get swayed by toxic comments you'll have a great time on wuxia. Around chapter 3000 it gets really bad to the point of every character getting introduced is either bs, corny, or annoying af. (According to the comments) Now, my point being: When I read something that I genuinely like, scroll down to the comments and all I see is a sea filled with toxicity or the generic "Thanks for the chapter" It doesn't really motivate me either to continue reading.

If you want to read this purely for the MGA story, Go for it! It's really good!

Thanks for reading! <<less

One of worst novels you'll ever read. And that's coming from me who read this as a 2nd xianxia novel and trust me now I've read a lot of novels by now.

MC is a self-righteous ret*rded sh*t. Only in the beginning did he have some progress in character development and when I say beginning I mean when he started cultivation. Later on it seems author abandoned notion of changing his character. Many fanboys here say if you place your mind in MC's and read you'll be able to continue and... more>> some sh*t like that. Yes you can continue however there is no change in plot. Author continuously repeats his plot every arc. Like go to a new place, MC weaker than every one, offend some arrogant shit, Escape, get strong, get revenge. Ofcourse this is plot of almost every novel but this one takes it to a whole new level. Cultivation is completely bland and author tried to make it even longer by introducing half-emperor, half-ancestor relams which completely serve no purpose.

Other novels have some purpose for cultivation levels but here it just there to pass up time and fill story with better word count.

Now I only want to see how this ends. <<less

This is just awful. The beginning can be great if you just want a cheap power fantasy, which I admit I did and do- didn't start this thinking I was getting high literature. However, after the initial rags to riches with a dash of ruthlessness which was very enjoyable, it drops faster than the stairs under your fat aunt. Afterward it's just an insane mess which you come back to every now and again when you can't find a new novel to start hoping it will regain it's past glory... more>> if only you can just get through a couple hundred more chapters more. So far it hasn't, and I pray to any and all Gods that will listen that I never give into the temptation of attempting to slog through more filler only to have my hopes dashed.

Want a single sentence to describe MGA after the initial stage? Here: It's possible to measure plot in parts per million.

0.001/5 This is a disappointment that not even a mother could have hope for. <<less

This is possibly the worst novel when it comes to character and plot development. The plot is terrible with the MC undergoing the same adventures although in a different planet or dimension. This novels leaves no suspense as the story becomes terrible as the chapters go by. It seems the author lacked an appropriate way to turn the MC into a real "Asura" and settled for short but terrible plots that add no relevance to the characters.

I dont recommend this novel. However, if you prefer action scenes over the relevance... more>> of the plot, you can give it a try. <<less

This novel seems to be a novel that had many potentially great story-leads but fails miserably in the execution. It's essentially a ji**-filled novel. Why would I use this language? Simple. Because...

The Main Character is a terrible one. Not just in character development but also how much of a rapist he is. It's not like I don't approve of an antagonistic point of view, but it's just the character. He r*pes. Lets get this through. If you value your morals greatly, immediately drop this stillborn novel. You will end up hating the main character and even the author for writing MULTIPLE r*pe SCENES. And to top it all off, this is another novel where events are regurgitated back and forth with variations in each individual event.

I rarely give up on a novel. But I 2400+ chapters in, I couldn't handle the sheer s*upidity and repetitiveness of this novel.

Cons:

  • The antagonists are arrogant. The MC is even more arrogant.
  • The way the MC moves up from a frog at the bottom of the well to seeing more of the world is always the same and very predictable
  • After he leaves his home (continent? Island?), there's really no more reason to keep reading this novel
Pros:

  • If you're really bored and tired of sleeping, with no other novel to read, then this might help you pass the time

The best xianxia I like currently is I SHALL SEAL THE HEAVEN. I used that novel to benchmark all the xianxia I am reading or going to read.

I am rating this a 1/5 basically because the plot and the flow of the story are truly repetitive. I am not going to write a lengthy reviews as there are quite a lot of reviews written. I however totally agreed with the inputs by Tootsie. Having said that, I will continue reading because I want to cheer the translator. By the way,... more>> that one star is for the translator.

As of C3775.

Sickening storyline. I wish I could drop this novel from my reading list. Freakishly repetitive. The MC is freakishly c*cky. <<less

The author made Chu Feng a sexist piece of crap propped up by deus ex machina. He disguises it well, but the novel is only good until the disguise comes off. For me, that happened when I got 10 full chapters of Chu Feng calling every man who spoke a ret*rd, and babying every pretty girl he could lay his eyes on. Of course, all the girls were geniuses in his eyes and had a crush on him. Let alone that the men were actually behaving smarter than the women.

Tropey and boring. Each arc is basically him going to a new place, getting chased around and harassed while he's weak for the area until he finds some magic power ups and becomes OP for the area and then he goes back and gets revenge.

And his harem members are always capture targets for others but they have "reasons" for capturing them but not tormenting/hurting/raping/killing them. If they ever set a timeline for doing so, you know how long it'll take for the MC to power up.

The other thing that bothers... more>> me is the MC is supposed to have this ridiculously ret*rded cultivation cheat but somehow his friends from the first derpy cultivation area (you know the one) always manage to power up to his level and keep up with him. At least Dragonball Z was okay letting some characters fade away instead of making up so much bull. <<less

Novel was ok for the first 1000++ chapters. MC was ruthless as it was described he would, but he was brainless as were the arrogant young masters, sect leaders, elders and basically any enemy MC faced.

Spoiler

However as MC entered Holy Land of Martialism, his character took a drastic turn - he slowly but surely started becoming a White Knight / SJW. Basically he started being all forgiving to people that did worse things than the ones he ruthlessly killed before. It was even worse when he entered ordinary realm, he almost forgave a sect that slaughtered infants for cultivation, thankfully their leader killed them all to increase his power. And then came the current arc - the upper realm where his true family resides. As soon as he came into contact with them, 99% of them were absolute bastards toward him, some betrayed him, and several young masters and their grandfathers tried to kill him. Later on when he got out of that situation and got enough power to take revenge on them, he basically left them off with a slap on the wrist, and they are currently still making problems for him.

Ok, that was enough rambling about the MC, now the other bad point - the story overall. As the novel progresses the story becomes extremely repetitive and all the characters are same - young masters will be arrogant and offend MC, their fathers / grandfathers along with their sects will support them no matter how s*upid what they are doing is, and some kind elders MC never met before will come to save his ass every time he is in a cinch (doesn't have enough power to face them off), later on he will get powerup and get revenge for them insulting him, earlier on it was killing and torturing them, now its just letting them leave in shame or in extreme cases put them in high quality prison (being sarcastic here). The repetitive plot got so bad recently, that u can basically read the title of the chapter and know anything that's gonna happen in it.

TL;DR Read first ~1500 chapters (till Holy Land of Martialism) if u like ruthless mc's and brainless enemies and then just stop reading it, as it becomes unbearably s*upid.

Ah memories. One of the first novels I read when I was first getting into Xianxia and all that other crap.

So MGA can basically be summed up as:

Males: Either arrogant arsehole/young master trying to f*ck with Feng's harem or some numb nut who somehow becomes his sworn brother with barely any interaction whilst also being useless when the going gets tough.

Females: Queue laundry list of description of how beautiful she is and just know she'll most likely join Feng's harem. Did I mention how annoying the descriptions are for female... more>> characters?

At one point I wondered why the author didnt just start doing the same for the male characters since it adds f*ck all. Oh wait thats right, the only way people will give a flying f*ck about someone is if they're beautiful. They dont have to be relatable or interesting ? Just have jade skin and all the other sh*t and BAM (!!?) Everyone cares now, right?

After awhile you find yourself detached from everything really; 'who are chu feng's parents and where could they be!?!?', well thats why I first started reading this novel. And after 800+ chapters as far as I can recall, NOTHING has changed.

The f*cking synopsis puts it best:" Chu Feng travels the continent, beating up strongest senior brothers, raiding old tombs, and conquering beauties" And thats all you'll get, nothing will surprise you when every arc Chu Feng "impresses" some senior, then they save his annoyingly arrogant ass.

Anyways: Not worth your time. And holy sh*t 3130 chapters??!? F*ck last I checked this novel had like 1955 chaps and I thought it'd be ending soon. <<less

At the beginning MGA seems to have a very good impression on me or rather I find it very interesting and thought it has potential to become better.

Unfortunately it doesn't, everything kinda turns me down after MC left/seperates from his fionce (s) and sworn brothers groupie embarking his journey to the next world.

The story starts to become ever winding and boring after that (actually it is kinda winding from the beginning but at least not so bad as it only the early stage), now I just skip alot of chapters... more>> as its just mostly narating how MC is a young rare super genius who can beat the crap out of his higher cultivation level opponents. Even manage to topple a whole group/cult/sanction/sect/family by himself, which is by the way kinda kills the mood when he wins everytime with his cultivation way way lower than the whole bunch, everytime this sh*t happened MC meet a new foe, author keep adding more never ending conflict which shouldn't exist in the first place. The foes arised just because of envy and few lame ret*rded reasons.

It is getting annoying to keep reading the same situation 'DIE' 'BREAK' 'KILL' fight scene.

Hafta to agree with most of the 1 star review posts, and my point is almost the same as theirs but I won't drop reading MGA hoping the author would spin the story to be more likely less boring yadda yadda <<less

Martial God Asura is your average xianxia with a high dose testosterone supplement. Everything is exactly as one would expect from a novel in this genre, but the typical nauseatingly precise and s*xual descriptions of women are more precise and s*xual and the typical extensive inhumanities that occur are scaled up to an unspeakable degree. This has ups and downs. On the one hand, the women have inexplicable motivations for their actions.
Spoiler

One in particular falling in love and willingly having s*x with a fifteen year old MC who circumstantially r*ped her, which is just one example of the astonishingly MC-centric behavior of all the women in this novel.

[collapse]

Every single antagonist is an incorrigible, feckless bastard, and the plot is incredibly predictable. On the other hand, the most base urges and desires that cause one to read these novels are sated in incredible gluts. Slaughter, torture, s*x, revenge, pride--there's enough of these in Martial God Asura to satisfy an average pubescent male.

The cultivation in MGA is refreshingly simple, having just nine levels to a rank with basically no caveats, with basically no qualitative shifts. There's also a sense of a definite upper bound in cultivation thanks to the special quality of the MC's body, even while the end isn't in sight. This can make ranking up less exciting, in comparison to, say, I Shall Seal the Heavens. World Spiritists were also a nice addition, although

Spoiler

their initial mysticism being dispelled by seemingly everyone and their mother being world spiritists is cause for some disappointment.

[collapse]

Bottom line, read this book for slaughter with a little bit of s*x on the side. There are a few cute asides, but mostly it's very straightforward with few other distinguishing characteristics.

MC is s*upid mass mu*dering idiot and a rapist without any kind of excuse. Dropped this novel 300 chapters ago and reading the recension. I see there is nothing new nor any change in the plot.

MC arrives in a new location and he is underpowered. He finds a girl He r*pes her and sooner or later she becomes a new lover. He gets than an OP skill from a “tomb/relic”. So He starts to kill everybody at a drop of a fly. Go to a new location and start again

r*pe by MC of the novel... seems absolutely repulsive... BUT it is cuz our minds are set/tuned to the world we live in and we often DON’T EVEN CONSIDER A WRONG DONE TO A MALE A WRONG... now that is just WRONG!! the first r*pe scene is not even disputable cuz it was all done while being drugged and well u know it.....

As for the second one... the MC was severely wronged! if he had not the power, then he would have been taken wrongful advantage of, humiliated, wrongfully made to take responsibility... all in all he was WRONGED! he did to that girl excatly what she wanted be done to him.

Now..... things dont really seem that bad right? ok I still was so not up to that scene (I admit I did not like it) but the world the novel is set in, the wrongs that was committed against the male (and that too when he clearly was leaving and tending to cut off all relations with the girl) must be considered since many tried to judge his character ignoring all that was done to him AS IF THEY WERE ABSOLUTELY NOTHING AND THAT HE SHOULD ONLY ACCEPT ALL THE BAD THINGS THAT WERE DONE TO HIM (since it were girls who wronged a boy).... NOW THAT IS JUST BULLsh*t AND WRONG!

[collapse]

Oh well... all in all that scene will shake you but do not make it the ground for stopping to read the novel! it is a novel with tonnne of chapters and just maybe, maybe, the author has things planned out as a sequel to that scene that would heal your hearts

I almost did not give this novel a chance, because there were some comments about the MC being a rapist and ruthlessly mu*dering for no reason. Luckily, I somehow read it and it was nothing like it was described. First, the MC has many reasons why he kills, the enemies themselves are evil and arrogant that deserved to die.
Spoiler

I was actually angry at times when he would let enemies live, and of course the enemies would come back and try to kill the MC, again. The first r*pe scene, both the MC and female were set-up. The MC was drugged, which turned him into a s*xual predator and the female had her powers restricted so she could not fight back. The second r*pe, there was two females that set him up twice. First, they wanted to cause trouble to the MC by having a third party fight him. Then, the females drugged the MC so one female could benefit from having s*x with the MC to take responsibility afterwards. The other female was acting innocently during both set-ups, but she still a hand both times. Both should have been killed, but the MC decided to do something, and r*ped one of them.

[collapse]

Update: It became repetitive, and I believed when CF would arrive to the Land of Martialism it would become better. However, the opposite happened and the story became worst. CF also become softer towards women. If a male was arrogant towards CF, he would not hesitae to humiliate or kill the arrogant male. Yet, a woman would do the same, and he would forgive and befriend them.
