The WN is an ok reading. I was about to drop it several times but my curiosity got the best of me.

The pros: The story premise is compelling, the rivalry presented, and the past lore although is not well explored or explained.

Cons: slow progress, the sevens have too much presence overshadowing the other characters, the absurdity of the villain's motivations.

A rollercoaster adventure of Growth, Tragedy and Love.

I decided to rate this a 5 star. Personally this is one of the well-written light novel out there in terms of Personal growth and development not only to himself, also with his companions.

For plot at the beginning you'll realize that the novel starting at a slowpace but that is for us to know the MC. In fact there is a reason for him of being naive that will reveal at the later series.

There is a need of an improvement in terms of... more>> the plot elements like wars, or against enemies, management, diplomacy etc. They are not in-depth, in fact, you'll find it somewhat linear, cliche and superficial at most.

However, I quitely enjoyed the growth and relationship of MC with his companions and ancestors. This is one of the well -written growth development you'll ever find, every important characters have their own fair shares of development like for instance Aria from being a freeloader to the one having a potential of being a general of an army or MC's relationship with his harems. Or his ancestors will play a major role for every action Lyle take.

In conclusion : The story focuses more on the Relationships, connections and development than elements that is involved in the plot. If you like to support a whimpy character with interest then this is your poison.

PS: Let yourself be a judge. I kinda, find it annoying those individuals who dropped it in the middle or beginning chapters, reviewed and giving it a 1 stars without reading the whole story. I feel sorry for those prospect readers that are hesitating because they are intimidated for low stars. <<less

A pretty good fantasy of noble family conflict, typical adventure guild quests, with a ludicrously huge harem. I just wish that Lyle the MC had a bit more of a personality. During all the trekking Lyle tends to get overshadowed by all the girls he picks up, or by his annoying ancestors; who are there to constantly advise him and mold his already sparse personality.

The adventure does get intense at times, with Lyle's overpowered little sister, but tends to drag during the downtime. Various factions start forming within the huge... more>> harem, making it more interesting than it deserves to be. Quite a few running gags are repeated ad nauseam and I ended up skipping a couple dozen of those pages. <<less

This should probably be 4/5. But, the ending irked me so much. So much that I've to give it a 2/5. Such a good novel, ruined because of one horrible chapter at the very end. A chapter that destroys everything you've read up to that point, and leaves you with a horrible taste in your mouth.

Good start. The women are decently written.

The MC is balanced alright. He's not overpowered. He's not even really powerful compared to the top female love interest.

The main villain is boring. Because the... more>> main villain ties into about 80% of all of the villains in this novel, it means that 80% of the other villains are boring as well.

If you read this novel.. That's fine. But, I highly suggest you stop reading just before the last chapter. Otherwise, you'll be angered. <<less

At the beginning I did not wanted to read "Sevens" because it is a harem WN but after reading "I am the Lord of Intergalactic Empire" I decided that I like an author and now I regret of not reading present WN earlier.
This is my second novel of Yomu Mishima so I describe an author style a bit as his stories have the same general properties. He is good and bad.

Author is very good with his ideas to write a story. Despite of using sometimes standard and... more>> boring tricks that we can meet in another authors his stories are quite surpising dynamic and interesting. And I can find quite original way of creating WN with its events and characters. One could say that "7s" is much better and complicated story then Overlord or SAO but...

Writer is very poor or lazy craftsman. His stories are lacking detailed descriptions of events and characters. Scenes of his novels are missing proper transitions. Dialogs are very often replaced by narrator. A lots of scenes important for better mood of a story are missing. Romantic events and battles are at most warm.

What I like in "Sevens" is that it is described in two plains. First one is story about Lyle who is gradually becoming stronger and who is collecting his harem-like allies. Second plain is a story about Walt House generations mixed with main story by using dialogs with Lyle ancestors and retrospections generated by a Jevel memory being Lyles heirloom. As I hate retrospections in general I love them in "Sevens". And as a reader I can feel safe as all tragic events are placed in a past.

Events of WN are interesting enough to make me stay with them longer and longer. I still wanted to know how ancestors will change Lyle character and how they will help to solve his problems. As I mentioned Lyle is changing and evolving in a story. He is a different person at the beginning and different at the and. And his goals change as well.

Some reviewer said that harem here is one of the most realistic. I would say again : yes and no. It is quite well described why a harem must be created and it is created by proper managements of first Lyle female friend. In general women characters are realistic and some of them join by realistic reasons. Maybe not strong but main romantic plot continues almost to the end of a story.

But for a very long time I was vexed by very cheap and boring way of bonding Lyle with women. Too many of girls started to love and follow him after "proper confession". As I said : boooring and impossible to meet in a real life.

This story would be much more popular if writer write it better way. World gives a feeling of RPG despite authors statements that it is fantasy. With very general way of describing events I continuously had a feeling that something is missing.

Still I like "Sevens" and recommend to read it. <<less

I am still reading this just so my time until now was not wasted.

The world building is good, the story is okay, and I suggest you dont take it seriously or as a smart novel otherwise you will be dissapointed. The MC is ignorant and idealistic, and he is supposed to grow thanks to the help of some kind of spirits of his ancestors that are inside his Jewell. Up to this point, its okay.

The girls in the harem, most of the time, are okay. Even more so, some have... more>> an actual personality! And even go against the MC's desires just to be wary of future problems. But then, when conflict between them all starts, they stop thinking and interacting like normal humans would, more than anyone, the MC... which makes sense because he is ignorant of the world as he spent most of his early teen years confined and apart from the world, except he is supposed to have the help of many mature men inside his jewell helping him! And my biggest problem is regarding the main love interest of the MC and her OHHH SO MISTERIOUS secrets:

Spoiler

The entire objective of the party is to defeat Celes (and to marry Lyle!) so it stands to reason that they should be suspicious and even hate Novem, when she is related to Celes! Not only related, but she has and IS EVEN UNTIL NOW keeping it a secret, not telling them how and why is she related to Celes, the ultimate villain they are supposed to defeat, even after at some point, it gets revealed when Novem saves Lyle from her.

To have in your party (main member of the harem even!) someone connected to your enemy and who wont reveal it (Novem might know Celes origin, weakness, and even more!!!) can be super stressful, and to add more to the wound, pu*sy ass Lyle asks them to just forgive her and be cool with it. Isnt that selfish and unreasonable? Isnt that like telling them that Novem is more important to him than all of them? Lyle might be okay to be idealistic, as he is ignorant of the world, but the girls, and the ancestors, shouldnt be, having blind trust on someone who is related to your enemy is just wrong... and how does the author try to resolve all this?! using a comedy relief plot armor --> Mr Lyle (if you dont know what it is, you wont get spoiled)

[collapse]

Enjoyable most of the times, but with some chapters and developments so awful and badly done that it might ruin the entire novel for some. Dont expect the MC or anyone to tell him how to act openly and be honest to others, or any normal social interaction in the harem... I dont know how this novel got so up in ratings with such a pu*sy MC <<less

This is what would happen if Xzibit pimped your webnovel. "Yo dawg, I heard you liked old teacher in a box trope so I put 7 in a gem!!!".

This story is mostly about taking breaks and tolerating people. Expect to read tons of text dedicated to people repeating themselves. A common format used is to have an old person from the box say something, have the narrator barely rephrase it then have someone in open dialogue rephrase it again. Another common format, narrator requests response from the peanut gallery and... more>> lists them.

This is another LULharem. In which, a gaggle of girls group around a guy because they known for sure their chastity is absolutely safe.

R-15, strong love interests and depictions of cruelty as tags feel like overstatements. <<less

Revision for my entire review: I wish there was a map for this novel. At times I felt lost whenever they traveled, especially the war campaigns. Otherwise, I really enjoyed this novel a lot. It's a slow start, but I recommend it for anyone who wants a solid novel for their first read. It's not perfect, but has a good foundation for what it is.

Personally, the bread and butter for me was how the entire cast felt real. My tension peaked when it came to dialogue and character interaction, especially... more>> when it came to yandere events. <<less

A fascinating concept that drives the plot extremely well. The character definitely improves over the course of the series but realistically remains flawed, even to the end. Great use of humor, probably made me laugh more than andy literature I have ever read. The romance is well done and realistic overall, but at the end, partially due to the MC, is a bit... unsatisfying, and leaves one wondering if certain girls actually loved him that much at all. Otherwise, its a great story with good pacing, humor, moments of tension... more>> and victory, and a truly interesting world. (I couldn't mark it perfect in plot because there is a plotline left hanging, though it really isn't significant to the story). While not my highest rating, since I try to be somewhat objective, I think this is the most fun light novel I have enjoyed.

One of the best novel i've ever read. The pace of the story is low at first but once you reach some turning points you won't be able to stop yourself. The story is interesting enough to make me write my first review

In the end:

What about Octo? I mean he just forgot about her? Poor girl~

... more>> The Goddesses. "What" are they?

They are many things left unsaid in the story but I'm sure that it is for the best (for both MC and us)

First 9 chapters. There is nothing interesting to see till now. Concept wise it is fresh by addiing ancestors into this novel but in my taste they are completly useless and make a komedy circle. It would be good if they only talked about things of importance at night. For now it seem forced up our throat to read all this useless stuff. The only generation which I remember and can picture somewhat is first and seventh. The rest are useless till now. Our MC is crybaby noble with snot... more>> hanging from his nose which his fiance needs to wipe from time to time, otherwise he would look even less noble. First chapter was interesting but next 8 were bad.. I will add update if I read more
I will add, that I forced myself into reading it, couse I generally like this genre but not the way it was written. Like a kid that got pencil in his hands and commited to write, no matter what got into his head. He will write, even if his mind is blank sheet of paper he will write. <<less

This is a review of the Web Novel, which is completed at 343 chapters. While there are some differences between it and the Light Novel (such as some new characters and differing arcs), the core content remains the same. Of course, this review will be spoiler free.

Funnily enough, 7th (or Sevens) was a novel I picked up solely for its length. Not only was did it have over 300 chapters, it was also completed, which was exactly what I wanted. From the summary, I expected something a little above average,... more>> with a possibly decent set of characters. Boy, was I in for a surprise. As I kept reading, 7th slowly but surely climbed up to become one of the best novels I have read. Now, I’ll be going into the details of why it stood out so much.

Story (9/10) :
Honestly, 7th can’t be said to have a strong start by any means. The main character, Lyle Walt, gets chased out of his house for reasons that sound absolutely absurd, and what follows just seems to throw up plot hole after plot hole. There are often times when various events just seem to stretch logic a little too far, and just ends up feeling far-fetched. Yet, as the plot moves on, you begin to understand that a lot, if not all these ‘holes’ are intentional. Not only are they addressed later on, they are even suitably explained. From this, it’s clear that either the author is really good at planning ahead, or that he knows exactly how to fill up holes that he accidentally made.
Generally, when one sees that the story is set in a fantasy world and that there is a harem involved, they’d assume that the story is purely wish fulfillment and not much else. In this case, the author has managed to turn that on its head. While the world falls into the fantasy world category, it is surprisingly well built, with a good amount of attention to detail. We get a detailed picture of the politics, trade and even social structure of the world. As for the harem aspect, it shows what could be called the dark side of harems, including infighting, faction formation and the politics that would invariably be involved.
One thing about 7th that I really appreciate is how it actually goes into detail about various aspects that are often avoided in such media. One example of this would be the harem factions, as I mentioned above. Another important aspect is how they go in depth regarding what they would do *after* winning, instead of solely focusing on victory itself as the goal. Overall, the story is very well rounded, and steadily improves as you keep reading. It has healthy doses of comedy, action, and even heartrending moments.

Art (8/10) :
The Web Novel lacks illustrations, so this score is based on the illustrations in the Light Novel. I have no complaints regarding the artwork. It manages to match quite closely to the images one would conjure up while reading the novel.

Character (7/10) :
7th has a rather large cast of characters, which can be called both a strength and a weakness. Initially, the author spends a good deal of time fleshing out each and every character, but as the story goes on and the cast gets larger, it becomes obvious that the author is having trouble keeping up. The characters that are introduced later in the series often seem flat, and may have been better off not being introduced at all. That being said, the author has done a great job with the core characters, which explains my score.

Enjoyment (10/10) :
All said and done, 7th was an extremely enjoyable series. While it took some time to pick up, it steadily improved, and had me captivated till the very end.

Overall (8.5 ~ 9/10) :
Put together, 7th was a great novel, which was well worth the time spent on it. It explored many themes that one wouldn’t usually see in such a story, and was all the better for it. As long as harem elements aren’t too much of a problem, I would highly recommend this novel. <<less

Spoiler

This novel start off realllly slowly, with the MC initially, being a god damn pu*sy that needs a bath everyday, even though he just got kicked out of his noble house.

However the plot escalates deeper and deeper, with his sister reveal as a monster and charming everyone around her, including the whole country. In short, the MC decided to man up and decided to put a stop to his sister/monster madness.

The best part is when the MC experience a post-leveled up "high" stage, where his personality changes to a c*cky, confident person, uttering some flirty pickup lines (lol) during his "high" period.

The harem can be alittle too much for some people (>15 wives), u can probably assume every new girl he met will be his wife eventually. Yet some of his girls can be quite cunning and even dangerous to some extend, in fact the wife factions infighting lead to some interesting plot.

The ancestors backstory, is actually quite interesting and touching. Every and each ancestors experience their own unique hardships and taking their own drastic ways to further or solidify their family power.

Currently just finished volune one. The author kind of throws a bunch of Characters at you then for some reason they try their hardest to make you like everyone else but the protagonist.

MC growth is very slow, he's always complaining and gets hurt way too easily to the point that it gets annoying. Hopefully it gets better but currently the first volume is kind of dreadful To the point I want to drop it if I were not to give it another chance.

I’ve possibly dropped this, for a multitude of reasons.

Firstly I will say, for the year it was made in, it’s quite good. However, to my standard that has been shaped by newer novels, this just doesn’t really appeal to me. You do see character to development, it is very visible but magically the main character somehow regresses and becomes this dolt, who deludes himself all the time. But character development for other characters was good surprisingly, one character that would bawl their eyes out become strong and respectable, unlike Lyle,... more>> while others became more likeable and had thought processes.

Another part I didn’t like about this was the apparent sexism. I’m going to sound like a simp here but, there was basically no respect for the women by Lyle and the Previous Heads during the time I read this. Near the start they question why a female was instituted as head and that there were a plethora of disadvantages to this, what reasons?? They only mentioned how they couldn’t let a woman head to war (why can’t they send someone proven to be powerful?) or they had to marry in a head like she can’t do sh*t by herself.

Another reason I dropped this, was how annoying a few characters were. One character kept bringing people in just because Lyle literally was kind to them and they were of the opposite s*x. There was no thought process nor questioning or disputes these women mindlessly accepted the offer. No build up or nothing, they just magically started to like him. Some literally after meeting him without any interaction and some just by reading books in a general vicinity to each other. Mindless.

I really did try to ignore a good few of these reasons but Lyle’s dumbassery really pissed me off and made me drop. I really do ask that you try it out yourself and see what you’d think. <<less

I give this 5 stars because how it is a very enjoyable read in my spare time. It has a unique charm that makes me come back every other day or so.

The plot itself is not complex, if I say, it is a generic story about a prince or noble son growing up adventuring. What makes it different is Lyle (the MC, the blue-haired boy in the cover) is kicked out due to some reasons I don't want to spoil and how he grows with his ancestors' help. Yes, the... more>> charm is in Lyle and his ancestors! They are so memorable and everytime the story goes and Lyle grows, every previous head leaves an unforgettable impressions.

Also, the girls in this is carefully written. They are not two dimensional but they also charm me in one way or another. The author really tries their best to show the girls' progress to become Lyle's partners. How lovely. Customs aside in the world, I can only argue that Lyle should be more passionate like mr. Lyle but well that's the charm of our own boi.

All in all, this is a good read in my spare time. I'll surely re-read again in the future. <<less

I will say one thing about this Web Novel - It was a ROLLERCOASTER !!

It is one of the best novels I have ever read. I truly mean it. This novel's best parts are incredible chracter growth coupled with surprising realism and some great comedy moments. And of course a rich story although it starts off quite plainly.

That's not all there is to it. The Ancestors are just mind-blowing. Each and every one of them have their own charcters with strong and weak points. But all of them have great... more>> wholesome personalities. I also think most will be surprised by the realism of this novel's harem (This is an awesome part of the novel too, which is fundamentally different from basically all harem novels out there.)

Really, Hats Off to the Author.

A word though, the pacing of the story is a bit slow at the beginning but please endure it because once a particular point is reached, the storyline will get very interesting and exciting. Well, it was a great read.

Hope you enjoy it !!! <<less

I don't know, I'm quite conflicted about this one to be honest.
The story was good, but nothing special. Characters were great, their development and relationships were quite a blast to go trough, but holy sh*t there were a lot of them at times. The forced harem plot was also something you don't see often, at least not in this capacity. Really, there are a lot of good points in here, but there are a couple of things that kinda ruin the fun.

Ambiguity for one. There are a f*ckton of... more>> things that are left ambiguous or just left for interpretation. If it was for some plot irrelevant things or worldbuilding than I thing it's fine, even an unclear ending I can take every once in a while, but this... I don't know, maybe a first for me, or more likely first so blatantly obviously infuriating. Imagine the MC gets some critical info on one of the big "secrets of the world" that is plot relevant, and then... nothing. In a few, or a dozen chapters you may get the acknowledgement that MC did talk about to some or all party members about this, and it may reveal some thoughts about it, but then it might not reveal basically anything and be left to 50-100 ch later when there is more info, and then they maybe reference that they discussed it at that point, and nothing else. Or it might just imply that something or other happened and then leave it at that. When this kind of stuff happens time and time again, when you don't even get which character knows what info, when a thing that happened ages ago only gets referenced way down the line and somehow becomes plot relevant, but still is not explained... I don't know, this kind of sh*t infuriates me. When the conclusion is left for interpretation it's fine a lot of the time, but when the process is left like that, it feels like it defeats the purpose of telling a story at all.

And the other thing is realism. For a lot of things it relies on being realistic, about the world, about the relationships, and all kinds of other stuff. Heck, you could get even some life advice from parts of this. But for some reason it just lets some bullsh*t in, like to confuse you, or that you wouldn't take things seriously for some reason... And then there is comedy, and it becomes a mess. I mean I get it, you need to sprinkle in some comic relief or this will look so dark and grim that it would become edgy, but holy sh*t does that kill the impact in some places. The ending was especially so, all that build up and the fight and all that, it somehow becomes a joke in the middle of it, and for some reason at the end, it starts to build up again for some reason... Like what the hell is this pacing? And throwing out the realism in some places and then somehow remembering it in the middle of action, what is this, a cartoon? I don't know, some of this sh*t could really have been done more tastefully ffs...

Yeah, but even after all that stuff, I did still binge this for some reason, going to sleep only at 4am sometimes just because it was so engaging. It's still a good novel, and id recommend it fully, but you really have to bear trough some wtf moments from time to time.

PS.
Spoiler

You thing the MC is useless piece of garbage? Yeah f*ck you, you're gonna get the reason why only at the latter half of the story, sucks to be you.

currently forcing myself to read the beginning.

It's so boring and uninteresting that I skip chapters in bulk.

besides the first few chapters, it's literally so dogshit. Oh we go to point A to point B and then do some uninteresting combat :)). I came for the yandere tag and I did not get it.

But since the reviews say that it gets better later on, I'm going to believe their words and force myself to read this.
