Lets cut the crap.

This story is fcking amazing, and I'm glad I found it and decided to read it.

The MC is a female and she's playing this realistic game (similar to the game in Sword Art Online, but obviously 10x times better cause SAO is a piece of shit), and yea, she has cheats because she comes from 10 years in the future. She came back to make her relationships last this time around, since her past self was a shitty person.

I love her development, and her laid back nature.... more>> Her morals are righteous in their own way I guess
Spoiler

"kid, your parents died, deal with it and move on stop being such a prissy sulking brat and making others worry for you" or "you fcked with me and spout some lies? Bruh lemme make your lie come true" (she frigging stole a guild's treasury cause they posted sh*t about her and on top were literal douchebags so they deserved it

[collapse]

that spoiler might've changed your mind about this fic, but srsly try it out. I'm not good with my words, but honestly it's a good fic to try out. You see her meet ppl she has already met in her past life, change her mistakes and develop relationships rather than staying a lone wolf. She's smart, and knows her way with the game. The story is easy to follow and understand, and I'm hooked. You gotta try it to understand what I'm saying I guess. Just do it. <<less

So, I sacrificed many nights just to finish MTL this and in fact, I’ve just closed the browser of the site where I was reading Reign of the Hunters.

To be honest, I love it. I love the characters, the world, the romance, and the plot. The thing is I feel like the author had abandoned some of her ideas halfway because after reading, there are still some loose ends in-game... more>>
Spoiler

The quest about Elf King Dole (introduced from the start but no end), The Epic Quest’s end?!

[collapse]
. There is also a moment that the plot switched suddenly near the end that it made me question where the heck the author is taking us and at the 400+ Chapters, tbh, it became somewhat depressing. Man, it was so melancholic that I wasn’t ready for it to end, not to mention, it was wrapped up just like that. I really, really, see the potential for more chapters -Ugh! I’m so frustrated of webnovel endings! Their endings don’t leave me as much satisfaction as published novels-

Anyway, I’m a generous person so despite my rant, this is still a five star. Reign of Hunters has a good foundation and it carried itself well but seemingly flopping slowly near the end. This could be because the author wants this webnovel to end already or maybe she has forgotten the foreshadowings she established and abandoned her initial plots. Whatever the case, it ends with a somewhat sweet note between two hunters. <<less

Would have given it a 4/5 or 5/5 (wanted to give a 4.5 though) if not for the romance scenes.

I am calling Fleeting Time the ML as till where I have read that is the direction it is pointing to.

Spoiler

I dont know about others but I am fine with most things at 18 but kissing someone, stalking them continuously even after causing an affair with her through a misunderstanding, then asking to be his girlfriend was just asking to call the police on him. That was not what she did though. (Why didnt she?)

[collapse]

Guys, is this normal? This guy is a complete creep. He took what I thought the max for creepiness to a whole new level.

Spoiler

Throughout the novel they just met a few times and he already fell in love, is stalking her, when the whole online game forum thinks they did adult stuff in game, he doesnt even clarify causing a greater misunderstanding. He stalks her, tries to keep (force) her into close contact, forces a kiss she doesnt want (which is romantic for some girls but if I was a girl and someone forced me to kiss them I would be pissed like really pissed). What annoys me more is that her step brother wants to see more pics of his step sister on the forum and even complains why he cant see more (is this guy dead in the head or just a perv?).

[collapse]

The gaming part was well done, the family and friend relationships and drama were okay but the romance wanted to make me puke and rather felt I was reading horror. Imagine someone forcing you to stay with them for over 72 hours just because he likes you and wants to be close. Imagine someone (random person) spread lies (which you dont know existed) about you having a relationship with someone and he (ml) doesnt clarify. I wouldnt even call the guy my friend leave any higher relationship. Imagine everyone in your workplace or school or university thinking you have a relationship with someone you dont like.

The novel was more realistic than most chinese novels but more realistic without the completely dominant MC. But please do tell me if this is normal, it freaks me out if people call that person normal and their relationship actually grows. To clarify even more the MC shows her dislike towards him at the beginning. I am not saying that the ML should not pursue her but this is complete stalking.

Spoiler

I would like to say furthermore that someone already likes the ml. She is a small time villainess (probably) but why is she the villainess when she did the same thing the ML did with the MC. She tried to commit su*cide for him while he continues to stalk the MC. The ML does not like his lover and the MC does not like Fleeting Time so why is the near su*cide attempter (?) the villainess but Fleeting Time the ML (romance candidate).

[collapse]

If you ask me (I am a guy), he is a freak. Even if a girl did that I would think it is freaky.

Spoiler

MC's mother is even weirder letting her daughter do adult stuff (though MC does not do it mother believes she did it) with another guy at 18 when most people dont even know what they do in life.. To clarify, the mother reads the pics on the forum of having done adult things with Fleeting Time. Rather than directing her kid she is supporting him (ml). Is she a sane mother? Is it not normal for parents to be glad that their child does not have a boyfriend till 18 (when they are more mature) ? Yes in some countries it is might be normal for it to happen (only known from movies) before 18 but most asians dont do 'it' before 18. Even if they do isnt it the girls family who should be the most worried as these relationships scar the girls more than guys? (I am talking about the illicit relationship part here) (realistically speaking)

[collapse]

The romance plot is horrible and I would question the author regarding the whole incident being normal cuz I have heard of a lot of females being harassed regarding this (rumors). The mc's mothers sanity is also something one should check.

The parents reactions were: YAY!! (Mother), I wont give you my daughter (father), More pics!!! (Step Brother), He took my sister!!! (Sad and angry) (Cousin). Is this the reaction people have when they find that their 18 year old daughter/sisters rumors of having a 's*xual relationship' (though not true they believe it is) with someone online?

Her cousins reaction was rather normal but her other family members was crazy. I consider it abnormal even in a fictional novel.

Spoiler

The author/translator did not mention any kissing happening between her friend and the guy from World Conqueror. This was where I thought this was a bit more normal but then- a guy she met and fought a few times kisses her and causes rumors to spread about her having a s*xual relationship with a guy and her family is happy/thinks this is normal but does not want it to happen. God from no kissing is normal to having s*xual relationships at 18 is normal.

[collapse]

(Is he trying to ruin her life here? Isnt she taking gaming as her career? Cuz the gaming and sports industries are similar and it damages ones reputation when such rumors are spread. Not just a bit but it might cause her major problems in the future in reality situation)

Personally I would have expected the parents to have freaked out and gotten furious (maybe they thought she was smart enough not to do that), maybe the brother gets angry and calls the whole guild to fight him (ml), maybe the step brother immediately calls the parents to tell them about the rumors or at the very least ask her themselves if it is true but NONE of that even happens. The mother and father dont even confirm the news with their own daughter!!! The mother does not even have the courage to ask her own daughter about that and asks her stepson instead and even he doesnt have the guts to do it. This is about her whole emotional future, shouldnt she gather her courage rather that potentially harming/scarring her own daughter.

Maybe I am being a bit too realistic regarding novel but I will be really pissed if this guy is the ml.

Just Saying--->If the lover (in the sense likes the ml) of the ml, had a transmigration into her where the ML is the villain (but is depicted as the ml) and the MC (ye ci) is a helpless rabbit who is being chased by him when she does not like him. Does this not remind anyone of another type of chinese, korean and japanese novels? Try Cheating Men Must Die, Beware of The Villainess.

How come the ML is good guy in this but bad guy in the above mentioned novels, their pretty similar situations regarding the ml.

Overall:

Gaming:5/5 (easy to understand)

Plot:4/5

Relationships:3/5

Romance:0/5 (I would have liked to give in negative)

Here is a shoutout for Jimmy (idk if you see this). Thx for the translation. Since I dont have money to give you, here is a shoutout. <<less

Good translations. There's nothing I can nitpick on it. Occasional errors are negligible to none.

As for the story, I wasn't really expecting anything out of it at first. I've read This MC is Kickass and well... the gameplay bits lulled me to sleep that I skipped them for the actual world interactions. Not for this one. Granted, I haven't read that much VRMMORPG novels but this opened up my eyes to a new world. The gameplay was entrancing like I can envision how it is actually played out. I can't... more>> complain on the myriad of characters because it is really how it is in a game though sometimes I have to recall a character or two. I have yet to finish the story as the translation is still ongoing so I just might read the MTL if I get impatient. But so far, I like where the story is headed to.

PS. I have finally managed to finish this story after 3 years. I still love the game world but now that I have re-read everything, I can pick up some occasional blunders the author have made plot-wise. The last chapters are disappointing tbh, it was all rushed and some plot lines didn't make sense. I would have liked it if there were more in-depth storyline on what happened in game for later parts, sadly after Golden Era left so did the suspense of the game. Overall, it is still a satisfying read for me. 4.5/5 stars.

PSS. Thank you so much Jimmi-sama for the arduous journey of translating this novel. <<less

I could have given this a better rating, but there's just this huge plot armor surrounding the MC allowing her to obtain all sorts of rare things by her absurd amount of luck. Some people might not bother with this, I mean, it's in every novels that we've probably ever read (those deus ex machinas of the authors). However, the better novels out there knows how to make it so that the MC has at the very least earned their keep. Yes, she has knowledge of the past and yes, she was once number one. It would have been enough already if she used those things to gain her advantages in the game, exploiting bugs and solving problems with her expertise. Those things are at least believable. But the plot armor, It just takes away a lot of the enjoyment of seeing her grow.

Other than that, it would've been really great. The MC is very well made, it really feels like she's really struggling:
Spoiler

She was once a snob who ignored her family and friends to reach the top, now she wants to focus on what is most important. The thing is when rebirthed, she still has that tendency to go solo, and the author and through various means, make her remember that she's supposed to change.

[collapse]

She didn't change just like that and that's good character development. It's totally unlike her online character which as I've already said, didn't really struggle and obtain super rare items by luck. It's still an 'ok' read if you can get past that. Note that other characters don't have that much character development (yet?) compared to her. That's pretty much it I guess. Enjoy.

Need to update my review, and unfortunately it's not a good update. I'm up to chp 320 and the quality of the story has fallen off considerably. Many of the reviews have mentioned a particular 'romantic' scene that is really weird. The author has been trying to force a romantic sideplot in probably the worst way possible, and it's affected my opinion of the story. Not only that, but there are a number of other side plots up in the air that haven't been resolved, and numerous other side plots... more>> have been added. It's become a little bit of a mess. That coupled with the fact that the story is moving further away from a strong female MC, to almost a soap opera style of side story lines, Pepe Le Pew cartoon of a love interest, and just an overly convoluted story with all the stuff in game and real world that they are introducing, I'm downgrading my score to a 3.5 and will be dropping this off my reading list. Hopefully it does get better and resolve some of these issues... I'll keep an eye on the translations to see if that is the case.

One of the best MMORPG type of stories out there. I think, in my opinion, Ye Ci is one of my favorite female protagonist in any WN I've read so far. She's not fluffy, truly went through her first life living for herself and tries to change the second time around, so you see some strong character growth. At the same time she doesn't take shit, and because of her previous life's experience doesn't give friendship or trust easily. The story flows well in my opinion.. doesn't get too bogged down while also gives enough details on battles. My criticism is one that I have with a lot of the CN novels, and is a minor spoiler:

Spoiler

Why does every novel have some rich corporation/people that try to suppress the protagonist in some evil sinister fashion.

[collapse]

Anyway would probably rate it around 4.7 or so. One of my favorites I'm reading now. <<less

I reaally love this!!

I've read some reviews for this and I will respect the decision of many but I think that comparing it to The Thief who Roamed The World is a poor comparison, won't enter into details because that novel is not important here.

If you are interested in a read that is focused better in how the character is truly doing what she is supposed to be doing when she reincarnates then go ahead. She is truly doing it for herself and consequently for others. Most novels with this... more>> type of genre focus on the guy doing stuff because they suffered betrayal, beau was snatched, guild was harassed, etc, etc, etc, INSTEAD, she does it because she acknowlegdes that she was a wretched person her whole life. I mean, it's hard to accept that one made a mistake, a mistake regarding one's life but she did! And she is willing to change! And she is changing! Of course, not everything is a flowery path but that's cool too!

Another point is that most people that get reincarnated are a complete cheat in the games with all that knowledge and stuff, but she is a half-cheat, seriously, she knows about dungeons, monsters, quests and whatnot about the game, she was well-known for her character of sorceress, yet she chose to be something completely different, a huntress, and that is totally refreshing. She doesn't feel like a cheat at all but she knows a lot about the game AND lets others enjoy the game too, instead of hoarding all the stuff for herself. The game itself is interesting too.

Finally, the most important point, in my opinion, not focused on romance!! OH HAIL THE HEAVENS!! I am a woman and sometimes find it boring that an MC is doing all stuff for the love of someone, and they regret that a lot. This lady here, doesn't care about that and I LOVE THAT, friendship is more important, and putting romance aside, makes the author more focused on other stuff, like the goals of the MC. I really wish that there would be more novels like this.

Anyway, that is my ranting, a really 5 out of 5 if you don't begin comparing to other novels. <<less

This story started out strong but slowly became more of a soap opera than the action/adventure/drama story it started out as. Or to put it a bit differently, it slowly became more and more about the drama while leaving the action/adventure behind.

!!!SPOILERS!!!SPOILERS!!!SPOILERS!!!SPOILERS!!!

It starts out interestingly enough with the MC going back in time with the wish to be a better person and not push people away this time. She quickly rejoins the VRMMORPG game that she spent years playing and uses her future knowledge to get a headstart on others... more>> in the game.

As part of her goal to not push others away she agrees to join the professional guild that her friends are a part of but quickly begins to come into conflict with certain members of the upper echelons of the guild and the guild's stifling and controlling policies.

This comes to a head and she ends up leaving the guild on bad terms and starting her own guild instead. All goes well for a short while but her fledgling guild ends up in conflict with her previous guild. This forces her to go nuclear and raid the guild warehouse of her old guild.

It's at this point that the story begins to take a nosedive. The author slowly began to move away from the actual rpg elements of the story long before this but after this point seems to have totally quit telling us about the progress of the MCs character.

Her strength seems to be 'whatever it needs to be to make the plot seem interesting', we skip large amounts of time without being told anything about what new skills/equipment/stats/etc are gained, she seems to completely stop using her future knowledge to get ahead outside of occasionally using it to clear dungeons on the first try, and instead all of the focus seems to have shifted to the drama between her and her old friend and her old guild trying to track down and punish whoever raided their warehouse.

This would perhaps be forgivable if there were any real emotion shown or major tension. However, our dear MC is still the super emotionless ice princess robot she's always been who can do no wrong and is always in the right despite being the scrappy underdog who the big bad mean, powerful, and wealthy are trying to abuse (despite the fact that she's the primary cause of most of the problems she faces)

It feels like the author decided halfway through the story that they wished they had written a character drama instead of a peggy sue vrmmorpg story and tried to shift focus midway through so they could write what they wanted but that just seems to have enhanced some of the worst aspects of both genres while failing to bring out their benefits. <<less

First started reading this because I was bored and it was one of the novels that have been on my waiting list for months, but when I started, I got hooked. The female lead is a complete badass with how she handles the situation, and I honestly just love her personality. Personally, I haven't really ventured into the gaming part of which some novels, such as this gem, hold but I'm really impressed by the realism of this novel.

Because irl, who on earth would actually go through all that dialogue the NPCs blabber on about.

I'm actually considering just reading the raws to satisfy the carnal desire to finish the 460 chapter series but I'll refrain from doing so simply because I feel that my vocabulary is not good enough to... more>> handle all the beautiful english-translated gaming terms in chinese. <<less

So, in general I read a lot of these VRMMORPG stories and don't really expect much. We have the Weeds who are basically game-gods and completely laugh in the face of the "Massive Multiplayer" part of the MMORPG. We have the s*upid stories like Zhan Long which make 0 sense... I've honestly long since given up any expectation when starting to read a VRMMORPG story... so I was pleasantly surprised when this one turned out to be quite good. It's not about an Anti-Social person becoming a solo-god in a... more>> game where socializing is 99% of the gameplay. It's an anti-social person working hard to come out of her shell and become a better person all around and that alone (atleast for me) makes this story pretty priceless.

Character growth in chinese novels might aswell be a mythical phoenix for all it shows up but this one seems to be working heavily toward that goal. A female MC is rather refreshing... especially when we don't have a male love interest immediately popping into existence from the very beginning so we get to see who our MC is before we have to deal with romance angst. The overall gameplay/game setting is pretty bland WoWesque but I honestly dont care at this point... In fact, I'd almost say the "bland gameplay" is what allows for the story to be driven by the MCs adventures rather than having her be overshadowed by complicated game mechanics. I'm giving this 5/5 just because, for what it is, It's perfect thus far. And really in the land of terribad stories the decent story is king. <<less

I encountered this novel before but never had the will to read it then since there was other just like this (eg. EoSP) and I was hesitant... but today I had nothing else to read, it isn't so bad at all, sure the plot is similar about time-travelling and having knowledge of the game and becoming OP but the thing I like most is that the MC is female and her character is badass (for a lack of better description), and that the story is not about getting revenge, which... more>> is getting tiring to read actually.

She discovers that she made a wrong turn in her life and is now making a change and valuing more of her friendship. I don't mind that the romance is really slow going and I assume will appear much later on the story cause really, in my opinion romance would be better executed slowly and take time.

One more thing that I like about this story is that the author didn't exaggerate about the appearance of the characters which is awesome. <<less

The author writes well since the story has fairly similar quality throughout. The translation quality is also good. As for VRMMORPG game mechanics, the author almost completely ignores them. The MC and key people basically always have all the stats, abilities, items, money, and time needed. If there is a shortage, it is only temporary in order to heighten suspense. To keep the story flowing, and to ignore inconvenient situations, the author rarely lists stats, skills, or equipment; players simply do whatever they want as they seem to... more>> have enough money when it matters.

Read no further if you wish to only see positive reviews. I don't really reveal specific plot details, but you may prefer your own version of Pollyanna where the MC player is always a hero even though behaving like a selfish villain or borderline sociopath. Whenever I see the "sent back in time thru reincarnation" stories where no deity shows themselves, I wonder why the MC is sent back to do that part of their lives over. Will they contribute to the well-being of society or will they basically perform a more personally successful selfish version of themselves yet again.

The author starts off with the character reincarnating as herself 10 years in the past. Immediately she goes back to play the VRMMORPG that had ruined her life before due to her addictive playing and sociopathic treatment of others. She had no friends in the game, outside the game, and no more family; even her own mother abandoned her. But now, she is going to play again with knowledge of the game and she is just as ruthless about cheating such as using the BUGs she knew about from her previous life. Hooray. Of course, the author makes it explicitly clear that the MC remembers all the quest solutions (she has already solved all quests in her previous life), monsters, areas, BUGs, and other benefits. There is even the proud statement that the MC can recognize wherever she is in the game simply by smelling the air. Okay, the author has made it clear that this story is basically going to be a cheating, bug-using MC with a full walkthrough guide in their head. At this point, we readers are just at chapter 4. If you enjoy self-insertion stories where you score many of the best unique quests, exploit bugs, get ahead by cheating or manipulate the system, and be Sly, then you'll probably like this story. Cheating and PK is significant in this VRMMORPG because in-game currency and items are exchangeable outside the game for real money. The MC acquires a huge wealth from the game even at low levels so that she is a multimillionaire at age 19. It's a worldwide game, so to preserve Social Credit Score values, the author makes sure to declare that the MC has positive values and morality about achievement, financial success, and doing whatever it takes. Backstabbing, false flagging, and framing others for lies and misdeeds is done and acceptable to the MC. Occasionally, the author tries to distract the reader from thinking negatively by making positive statements to pull attention away from past events. While that is good story design for this type of self-insert story, I am displeased at the use of reader manipulation tactics inside a story to paint the MC as a decent person. In most games, threatening game design staff with real life negative consequences if she isn't allowed to keep using BUG power would get her banned. But she succeeds in her threat and gets to remain buggy in a game where she collects a lot of real-life money. She even launders money by having real-life people purchase 22 million real life dollars of game money and then transfer that game money to her so that it can then be converted back to real money. The MC is a villain but written up from the sympathetic viewpoint of the author. <<less

Very good! Interesting story and great writing! Great translation! Chinese but no cultivation!
Main character pleasantly OP but still many goals and obstacles to overcome.

Reading some of the reviews, some critiques that I disagree with:

No there's not a ton of characters, for a story like this. Unlike many there's not 4 different people with the same or similar names, most have translated names like "Fleeting Time" or "Spotless Autumn" that are very easy to remember who they are without having to think about it.

No, the fight scenes aren't too rushed.... more>> It's true that the fights didn't drag on nearly as long as in some other stories but that was very very pleasing to me!

One reviewer was upset that the spells aren't customizable. In a game? Huh? Most games don't have spells that you can change parts of.

Disjointed? In what way?
Random time skips? Where?
Smooths over plot holes? Duh. <<less

This is one of the best gaming web novels I've read. You have character progression, slow romance, an interesting plot, good people and bad people, people in the middle, just enough tr*sh talk... If you can overlook some minor errors and plot holes, it's so worth the time. Especially if you're a gamer like me, even though there are certain flaws but it's such an enjoyable read and you get all immersed into the world, and the game called Fate.

Definitely try this. It's about Ye Ci who abandoned her friends to pursue her career in gaming, but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't defeat King. Then she reincarnated and fixed up her mistakes and basically became the top players in the Eastern continent, then this happened and that happened.... she got betrayed and she betrayed him...... and she went to that guild... (i know it sounds a bit boring, but it is very interesting).

Very good. What I particular appreciate is the mature attitude of the protagonist. She is well aware of the ups and down in life. The waxing and waning of fortune, love and relationships.

What sets this story apart from other time-travel stories is the protagonist's goal. It is neither hatred nor survival. There's no typical 'I was betrayed so I'm going to isolate myself from everybody and do everything myself. Rather it's the revers; in her past she was selfish and self-centred, in her second life she does things for the... more>> sake of others and doesn't abuse others trust in her; in the past she was independent and arrogant, in her second life has companions and is humble; in her past life she was full of regret and resentment, in her second life she is full of hope and resentment. This leads the to more heartwarming, and sometime tearjerking moments for every victory and defeat.

Don't let the above lead you into thinking the protagonist went from a villain into a Samaritan, however. She doesn't let her self be trampled all over and she is still capable of dealing out crippling retaliation. What this means is rather that she can keep some distance between her past feuds and debts and the relationships in her second life.

As for the antagonists in this story, they too have a varied side to them. They are flawed, but not innately evil. Past enemies can turn into allies and vice versa.

If you're sick of hard core revenge and blood shed or overly cheesy and simple protagonist, then you will likely find this story to be a breath of fresh air. <<less

Awesome novel to read if you're bored, have nothing to do, or just plain procrastinating.

I binge read until there weren't any chapters left and so I've been following this for about a month or two now. I don't know if other people did the same thing; but I wasn't bored at all in that span of time.

Not to mention the kick-ass translators Jimmi and Co!

Jimmi-sama Daisuki. Interpret this as a love letter or not.

A biased and disorganized review.

I've been putting this one off for awhile, since I've never really been too fond novels with plots that revolve around the MC playing some MMORPG (virtual or otherwise), since it seems like the the main goal of most of those novels, at least the more popular ones on Novel Updates that I've took a glance at (Emperor of Solo Play, Rebirth of the Thief Who Roamed the World, etc.), revolves mainly around gaining wealth.

However, I really like this novel, in case the biased 5 star... more>> rating didn't make it clear enough. Our MC focused so much on gaming during her 1st time around that she pushed away everyone close to her, causing her to die a lonely and pitiful death, when she was pushed off the side of a building by a strong gust of wind.

Having been sent back to the start (right before the start of the OBT of the game in this novel). Fate (the game in this novel) serves more as a backdrop (like with zombies in The Walking Dead or the mist in the recent The Mist TV series) to the main theme of the novel, which is the MC's goal of mending/maintaining and establishing new relationships with those around her. The author explores how gaming could potentially destroy friendships at times (I mean, it literally split a group of 4 people, that were somehow conceived and born around the same time, that were like destined to be friends, apart). The aspect of playing the game to make money still exists, but it exists as merely a side goal, that isn't really mentioned all that often (relative to other novels). The MC aims to be a professional gamers, but doesn't takes the hardcore grinding method; instead, she exploits bugs, unknown features (apparently the producer only reviewed 5% of the content to the public), and acquires the usual bullsh*t items that completely breaks the balance of the game.

You have the usual MC somehow meets and recruits a bunch of future OP players into her group and the whole legalized system, created by what I can only assume is the producer of the game, that allows the players to transfers fund between gaming and real world currency.

Romance is in the genre, but we're around 1/4 of the way through the novel, I still don't see a love interest for the MC yet, which is good and bad (depending on whether you prefer fast/early romance vs. Slow/late romance) ; at least we don't have some possessive/clingy romance interests or some shitty harem. So far, there's only a few dysfunctional relationships for a few of the side characters. <<less
