One imperial edict and the family’s calculation, the sweet, adorable her met the cold him that was up high. She became his little princess consort. Everyone said that Prince Ying of Western Xuan Empire was shockingly ugly, cold-blooded and ruthless. They laughed at her that she had mistakenly entered the tiger’s den with her life in danger. But she just laughed that everyone in the world couldn’t see the wider picture, and were s*upid and ignorant. The ugly appearance was actually beyond gorgeous, cold-blooded was actually gentle and sweet. She only wanted to hide him away and not allow other people to peep at him. “Big Ice Cube, take off your mask and let this princess have a look!” She propped up her chin with saliva flowing down.

“Want to look?” A certain person’s lips hooked into a devilishly charming smile, saying. “Then first, hand over some down payment…” This is the story of a sweet adorable female and a two-faced male’s journey to fight enemies and kill strange things, while pursuing a romantic relationship that was absolutely full of loving spoiling, hilarity and hot-blooded action.

Cute transmigration of a 20 year old college girl whose soul enters into a 9 year old girl. Unlike most other female lead transmigration stories, the heroine here has no mad skills or real ambition. She just wants a nice warm environment and has no ambition for class, martial arts, and etc.

Spoiler

At 9 years old she becomes a child bride to the first prince who is 19 years old, and is the most infamous of all the princes. Rumored to have killed all his previous engaged fiancés. Through a lot of political infighting the prince is forced to take his bride early and raise her to adulthood before the actual marriage.

It's interesting that the male lead here is the typical strong, drop dead handsome, smart, and skillful stereotypical lead, however, he greatly differs from other stories in several ways that make this story unique in its own way. Although, he's good looking, he hides his face with a mask all the way to the end of the story even. Even though he is first born and of the Queen's son, has never lost any battles and is filial to his father, he's actually completely hated by his family. Not to mention, his own mother doesn't care fig for him either. Despite his royal status, he has no desire for the throne, even without all the evil intentions his own father has on him. I have to say this is the first time I have seen such wickedly absurd parents in a story.

Thankfully, the heroine comes in and gives him a sense of what a real family is like. The cutest character in the story is her father who was once a great general but now suffers from mental issues causing him to be like a child.

Unlike other love stories, the love here is very gradual and doesn't happen until she almost reaches 15 years old, which is marriageable age. I like that from 9-15 year olds she grew up and instead wanted to learn skills so that she wouldn't drag down the prince. But her skills were via slow and grueling training to level up that isn't magical or anything. The heroine's past life doesn't contribute too much to her current life other than knowledge of cosmetics, comic book drawing and her attitude in life.

The last couple of hundred chapters were more focused on other characters getting their happily ever after. So it suffered some dryness towards the end. Overall, it was a satisfying read, and one of the most amusing things is that no one in the story coveted the throne. Instead it's treated as a hot potato and the emperor is constantly changing hands through bets, trickery, bribes and etc to their siblings.

Aiyo~~~This is a rare gem, i'll tell ya!

Before that.. Bewarned: at the beginning, it seems more like 'slice of life' story, but around chapter 200, it slowly begins to show the darker side of the story, which is VERY interesting. There's this one sentence that deeply hurts, one that made me love ML so much!
Spoiler

"Niang Niang, dare I ask you a few questions. Have you ever done anything for His Highness that a mother should do? Have you ever loved him simply because of him?"

[collapse]

Male lead and Female lead:

Spoiler

The male lead is the lonely cold prince who put up a psychological barrier inside of him, having been hurt and bearing so much pains throughout his life and war, he wielded a cold indifferent temperament but was actually kind and gentle.

While the female lead is a normal girl with normal family background, but her soul had transmigrated from the modern 21st century world. A normal, kind, gentle, smart and willful, 20 years old lady who transmigrated into the body of a 9 years old.

Imagine the ML as someone with high IQ, also high EQ. Hah! Pretty nice right?

AND the fluff! Aww this novel is overflowing with fluff~~

Lastly what I love most is how realistic their romance is! I really love MC's way of coping with life and marriage in reality. It feels so real. God damn it I want a wife like MC or husband like ML!

For those pitiful folks out there, you can MTL with this:

This surprised me by being a very good book. I'm quite harsh on books where the protagonist is a child and interacting with an adult male lead, because I generally find them beyond creepy or mind breakingly unbelievable--often both, but this one managed to avoid or subvert the usual tropes. There are no overtones of pedophilia here (call it lolicon if you want, but that's what that is). The ML sees her as a child and the engagement is forced on them as a means to do them both harm.

Luckily,... more>> the ML, although cold for reasons that become all too apparent, is not a pig and plans to have nothing to do with her at all. Instead of doing that, and because of her persistence, he ends up educating her and having her taught martial arts, during which time they become closer (but not in a creepy way). The love they have for each other is very close to the idea of chivalric love, rather than a s*xual one. Given that this is a romance, I imagine that will change when she becomes an adult. While the ML sees her as a child whom he has been ordered to marry when she becomes an adult,
Spoiler

he really doesn't expect to live that long. His main goal is to ensure that she survives his inevitable death.

[collapse]

Note: It always bothers me that 'adult' is considered 15 in Chinese novels. It seems to me that in books where people can fly using martial arts, we could handwave the historical accuracy of that for something that's more palatable to the modern reader, but if one is going to read Chinese novels, that's something that one has to let go. I just make them 18 in my head ;)

Regarding some of the complaints, neither party is in a position to refuse this marriage, regardless of the apparent inappropriateness of the other party. He was ordered to marry into her loser family by the emperor, in order to do him political harm. Refusing the emperor is not possible. She was picked by that loser family to be the 'sacrifice' because her branch of the family has been thrown away by them, so they don't give a crap what happens to her. Her father can't object because he's brain damaged (in an entirely unrealistic way, but unrealistic medicine is par for the course in Chinese novels), and her mother is so browbeaten and defeated that her child daughter is basically running the show. The daughter looks at this as an opportunity to get medical care for her father and save her mother from dire poverty.

One of the most interesting parts of this novel, and is something that I've rarely seen in transmigration novels, is the fact that she is both a person who was once 20 and has those memories, and the child in whom she's found herself. She isn't simply and adult in a child's body. Even though her memories tell her solutions to problems, she's still a kid who can have a temper tantrum or act rashly in the way that children do. She has the same need to be loved and the desire for loving comfort that all children have, sometimes to the confusion of her 20 year old internal self and sometimes without her being aware that she's acting as a child.

Given the fact that she has all the emotions and memories of the previous owner of the body, it's no stretch that she loves her new family as she once did her own. She isn't really her former self or the owner of the body, she's a new person who is a combination of the two. To me, that's far more interesting than a perfectly mature adult puppet-mastering a child's body. While she is often more verbally dexterous than a child would be expected to be, she's also enough of a child that is doesn't break the brain that people accept her as such.

At the heart of it, this is the story of two people who are saved by each other, him from eternal alienation and loneliness, her from having no one to depend on and bearing burdens far too great for her to bear alone, and it succeeds in that very well.

That being said, this isn't a slice-of-life story, and if one is looking for that, they're going to be disappointed. It's a fantasy story of political intrigue with action and romance elements. Although we see day to day life, the plot is centered around a particularly poisonous royal family's machinations, noble families vying for power, and the effect of that on the common people. It's a very well written and well translated book with compelling characters that is funny, heartbreaking and very engaging. <<less

The first normal transmgration I ever read. MC get transmigrate and wanna live a normal peaceful life in a little village. But fate tells otherwise and drag her to the mess of ancient capital where she probably gonna end up with the ML.

Although the beginning of this novel is kinda ridiculous. MC is 10 yo got engaged to ML 20 yo. makes me see it as lolita complex...

Honestly, full of headaches. I wasted a week to finish 1k++ chapters. I'm wishing that the story plot and interactions will improve but my expectations are not met

Good story but how the story moves feel so s*upid. Also, I hate how the author tries to portray the MC having a high IQ by making the people around her very s*upid. the love story of side character couples revolve on misunderstandings and it really pisses me off. All side couples are bickering, and play hard to get. SUPER ANNOYING SO I... more>> KEEP SKIPPING THEIR STORY. The only thing that keeps me reading it (and letting me waste my time)... is waiting for the scene where I could see the fall of Emperor.

the Ml's tragedy is partly the consequence of his actions, he allows things to happen (he feels responsible since he's d 1st prince) . Also, I pity the ML, I dont know what hate does the author have in ML Ahaha. I feel bad on his sufferings..

the MC is really lazy to practice martial arts (not the Quickstep but the self defense) hence, she could only c cry and couldn't even protect the ML from ambush. Good thing she learned her lesson. Also, she made the ML to wake up fr his s*upidity. What annoys me is... although her actual age is 25 at present ch1k (same as ML), her IQ is still d same as a 15. That is why I don't get how the author and other describe her as smart..? ? She's also closed minded and selfish in some other ways, bringing trouble and making it hard for ml.
Spoiler

Really s*upid!! My head aches a lot reading the MC's dialog. She said "Which woman does not want to be blessed by husband's parents. Couldn't she even think that Xiao Xu isn't loved by his parents. What more to her. Super s*upid!!! I hate that they keep assuming things leading to misunderstandings, making the story long that are full of non sense. I really hate how s*upid MC is. She doesn't have confidence in herself so she couldn't trust the ML. Couldn't she see how she was spoiled by ML? She should panic and doubt when the ML suddenly treats her different. That's why, she is blind, overthinking and s*upid

[collapse]

The story is too slow hence the carelessness and dumbness of chara, become noticeable. Also, I hate the interaction of MC with Xu xian (Buddhist priest) ; they keep forcing their ideas to each other. t

There are also several good pts., though the discrepancies are way too many. 1 chapter can be summarized to 1 sentence and at most 1 paragraph that's why there are many unnecessary convos that make the story long and monotonous. The story becomes long mostly due to misunderstandings and bickering.

The MC is not the only transmigrator <<less

Main MC is a 20 something transmigrated into a girl's body. To keep on the d/l she tries her best to behave the way she thinks a preteen should. For the most part she succeeds, sometimes she forgets.

Despite this she still manages to keep her and her mom and dad safe from the mechanization of her extended family as well as solidify her position in her finance's Manor.

It's not too dramatic and doesn't have bombastic villains, which I like. The interactions b/w MC and ML are very endearing. You... more>> can see how the characters, especially ML evolve.

It's an easy going story to read. For now it's 4 stars. Am interested in the mystery alluded to by the monk. <<less

It is well written, and has good character development. So, why am I dropping it? It is boring, it should have slice-of-life (usually like them) tag. Mostly, the story has been confined in one area of the royal chambers. The MC is rarely allowed to leave the pavilion. It is usally MC and male lead, with some servants. There are a few politics behind the scenes, but not much.

Also, the MC is about ten years-old, and ML is about 18. I know the ML has not deseired MC sexually, but... more>> the romance is slighly developing. The ML lead has shown his servants that he kind of cares for MC, but somehow servants still bully MC (finally one was punished).

The MC is trapped in a ten year-old's body, but she was a 20something year-old before transmigrating. Yet, her intelligence is usually of a ten year-old. <<less

I'm usually not super critical when it comes to small discrepancies in the plot and characters but there are just too many glaring ones in this novel. It makes it very difficult to grasp or like MC and ML.

First off, MC transmigrates and she INSTANTLY accepts the situation and treats her 'new' parents exactly like her own, just because they look like her real parents. The possibility of never seeing her real parents again doesn't bother her AT ALL.

Then, MC finds out she's about to be married off to a... more>> monster and plans to escape. But as her escape is thwarted, her parents, who claim to love her, are easily appeased by a few laughs and words of comfort, forgetting that they're about to marry off their beloved daughter to a monster!

MC and ML's interactions are supposed to be 'cute'. MC tries to act like a cute 10 year old, except she's also this super cunning, super witty 20 something modern woman, which sometimes works well, IF the author bothers to put in a little effort in writing out such scenes properly. BUT it turns into another sad, disappointing case of MC being the innocent, doe-eyed 10 year old whenever it suits the author (of course, this is when it suits the plot so she unknowingly entices ML) and next moment she's a wise philosopher when speaking about life and her three views and then she's a sharp-tongued, quick-witted, face-slapping badass. The huge problem with this, is the timing is wrong, it's always overdone leading to a huge contradiction in her character that ultimately makes you think that either the author got really lazy or MC is really just a mentally challenged person.

And then there's ML, who's supposed to be this intelligent, imposing, cold GOD that's descended from the heavens. One moment it's ooh, I'm so mysterious, next moment it's "b**ch, I'm so smart I have my own plans, don't need your meddlin". But really, he's not smart at all. I know, every girl loves to be romanced by a man who throws out BIG gestures to show their affections but it's too soon for someone who is supposed to be cold, it feels wasteful for someone who's supposed to be wise and resourceful. And nope, he definitely doesn't have the situation under control, since MC gets hurt by the s*upidest, lamest things that even a child could see coming a mile away.

These are just the main issues that bothered me, but there are like a dozen more contradictions that I won't bother going into.

I really wanted to like this, even giving it a chance until I was 75 chapters deep, but it only got worse as the novel, progressed. This is definitely one novel I won't be completing. <<less

From the moment I read the description for this story, I already knew that it'd be good. And it really didn't let me down! I just love reading this story and the funny interactions between XX and CQY. Throughout each chapter, their relationship just gets better and better, and they become more comfortable and trusting towards each other as time goes on.

Their relationship hasn't reached love at this point since it' only been around 6 months since they first met at the residence.

Just reading about their interactions makes my heart feel warm and fuzzy. Seriously, how they take care of each other and the extent to which they do is simply beautiful. Even though XX doesn't receive love from his Royal blood (aside from the Fourth Prince), a this point in time, he's already accepted CQY's parents as his own. And at that moment on his 20th birthday celebration prepared by CQY, he truly feels the love and care of CQY's parents for him.

This story doesn't have superpowered MC, neither the ML nor FL are OP. But both are intelligent, forged by their own surrounding when growing up. In fact, the FL Chu Qing Yan is not overly intelligent, just she has a good mind on her shoulder as a person from the future, and she is rational. I usually don't write reviews unless I finish the entire novel BUT FOR THIS I JUST COULDN'T RESIST!

I agree that this is heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time but I still love this so much. I love both Xiao Xu, the male lead, Chu Yan, the female lead and also their subordinates ‪♡ You'll fall in love with their characters.

Chu Yan is different to other transmigrated female lead. She's just an ordinary person— but the best part about her is she's like a ray of sunshine. She's smart, hard... more>> working and also caring. If she cared about someone, she'll never give up on that person. She brings out the best in every one really. Oh and her love for her family ‪♡

Xiao Xu, our big ice cube, is someone who you'll definitely want to protect. Sure, he's dependable and powerful but you'll see how much pain and suffering he experienced in his life. (And god it broke my heart to see what he went through) He might be the God of War to others. But for Chu Yan, he's only a man to be protected.

Not only the main characters, but you'll also find yourself loving their subordinates (fire spirit, earth spirit, air spirit... and many more).

For the romance, I could say it really takes time which is good. They didn't rush through it. It's still adorable on how they went from caring each other like father and daughter, from brother and sisters, and finally to being lovers!

You'll love how confuse they are with their feelings like they're both beginners in love okay. But the best part about their relationship is even though they're still at the father-daughter stage or the brother-sister stage or at the lovers stage, what didn't change is their want to protect each other and they want each other to be happy.

Gonna edit my review once I finish reading it ˘͈ᵕ˘͈ <<less

I like this story. MC was not some genius doctor, not a super woman. Yup, she was just a child, 20 years old that so accustomed to be 10 years old. A beauty, but well... what you could say, she still a child.

Spoiler

Some said the mother was useless, but I disagree with that. For a noble woman suddenly must lived in poverty, with a 2 months baby, and a big baby (MC's father), could shouldered her family for 10 years all alone. It's anything but useless. I admire she didn't abandon her husband. She loves her husband. That's true love.

I like the father. He's cute, and kind, and loves his wife and daughter, and of course his son in law too. I believe, if he's normal, he and ML would be similar. Cool... and loves their family dearly.

This loving husband and wife couple, I wish their happy ending.

MC is normal, I am glad for that. There was no easy shortcut for everything. She has yet a chance to utilize her 21st century knowledge for use, but... we'll see.

I feel ML was more like brother... you could even say, he's like a father. It's funny when people think him and MC a pair of father and daughter. Well, if he loves MC like a man to a woman, then I'll drop the series right away. Family love is the best, at least for now. I'd love to see their romance story as couple, but I can wait. I love our ML, so I don't want him to be a pe*vert. Pedophilia is a NO-NO.

Emperor and empress, hah... this royal couple was really too much. I feel pain for ML. Such a filial son, his parents don't deserve him.

[collapse]

I feel dizzy to read the MTL, but for now I'll give 5 stars. There are almost 2000 chapters, let's see if the series will keep me until the end. <<less

I had to finish reading the raw one because the anguish I felt for ML in an Arc could not stand, I would only say that it had a good ending that even wanted more. The story begins very funny, when our MC is small and knows ML, their interactions are very pure and entertaining, also the father of our MC is too funny xD Then there comes a time when the plot becomes very sad and lightning, cry too much because the father of our ML is a literal... more>> poop, our protagonists suffer a lot throughout their adventure, but they also build very strong bonds of love and friendship, the story also emphasizes the secondary protagonists and their stories and what It houses each one, there are very surprising twists in history that make you want to hit the author, but in the end it was an excellent read and I do not regret anything xD

Spoiler
  • Our MC becomes a strong, intelligent and talented super woman and our ML in a warm man (as always was jijiji).
  • When MC gets older and our ML realizes that he loved her, the story gets very hot, without neglecting the obvious fluff xDDDDD

This is a sweet, light romance novel so far. 20-year-old college student, Chu Yan, transmigrates into the body of a 10-year-old girl, Chu Qing-Yan, in ancient China.

Chu Qing-Yan's father used to be a famous general. However, 10 years ago, he was injured and mentally disabled, resulting in him having the personality of a young child. The discarded general, his wife, and their 2 month old child, Chu Qing-Yan were thrown out of the Chu family. Chu Qing-Yan's mother worked hard in a poor rural village to support her disabled husband... more>> and little daughter over the next 10 years. Fortunately, after the heroine transmigrates, she realizes that her parents look just like her parents in the modern age, and she continues to love and be loved by them. Shortly after the transmigration, the Emperor orders Prince Xian to
Spoiler

marry a daughter of the Chu family. Prince Xian is known to be cruel, evil, disfigured, etc. He wears a big silver mask. The Chu family doesn't want to send any of their precious daughters to him, so they bring back Chu Qing-Yan's parents and her and send her instead.

As a result, little cute Chu Qing-Yan, age 10, is sent to live in Prince Xian's residence until their marriage. She is careful to appear like a child. Prince Xian is actually a decent guy who has a horribly cold family, and once his EQ rises a bit from his interactions with her, he learns how to take better care of her. He treats her like a cute child for now. She's 20 inside, but he's so intimidating at first that she easily acts like a kid in front of him. Their age difference is 8 years. Another reviewer mentioned that it's not until chapter 700 that they get married, when she is 15.

[collapse]

The story moves quickly until she moves in, then it becomes a slower, cute, slice of life story. I like that the heroine is a decent person. She isn't vengeful or super-powered (yet). Her main goal is to protect her parents and live well, especially considering her poor, uneducated, weak background. So far so good. <<less

Binged all there is so far and absolutely love this story♥️ The FL is funny, charming, sweet, fierce, loyal and more. The ML is strong but soft, loyal and pitiful, his story is heartbreaking and gave me lots of 😭 moments so far. They are a match made in heaven.

I hesitated at first to take on a 1747 chapter story because (unless they are arcs of separate stories) ones this long seem to get boring, repetitive and really ridiculous BUT this one is so original and creative and clever. It... more>> involves the development of many characters but still revolves around the main couple, and the bigger political and personal plots around them.

Regarding some discomfort with the initial large age difference, errantknight discusses it perfectly. I think it's an important part of his character development that she starts as an unthreatening child.

I look forward to reading this entire story, just bummed that it only posts twice a month 😭

Thanks to the new TN for picking up this excellent story. Thanks to the original TN for starting it and sorry that you dropped your excellent work. And thanks to the middle TN for giving it an effort.

It's really interesting to read 3 versions of the same chapter and see the variation between each TN interpretation. Chinese is a difficult language full of complex meaning so I really honor those who make the effort to share the author's work as close to the original text as possible. <<less

I like the start. I appreciate that even though the MC transmigrated, she still has the same parents. It makes her attachment to them a bit more logical. Her dad being mentally disabled due to injury is an interesting premise - he is a bit of a scene stealer and his interactions with the ML are hilarious. ... more>>
Spoiler

I love how he calls the ML his "backwards scallion son-in-law." I also feel like hints of his former intelligence come through in interesting ways sometimes.

I like that the MC isn't OP. When she first transmigrates, any get-rich-quick schemes using modern knowledge are quickly crushed by reality and a lack of resources. But she does still have some strengths, and her ability to verbally face-slap her tr*shy relatives is satisfying.

I appreciate that while there is a physical age gap between the MC and ML (ignoring the MC's mental age), I don't really get pedo vibes. The ML very much considers her a child, and his developing affection is not immediately romantic.

There is some stuff I don't like though. As she gets closer to the ML her IQ seems to be dropping (classic FL syndrome). She definitely feels less mentally 25. Being around the MC makes the ML dumber too. I get that there is humor when the icy-cold prince type who finally begins to care about someone is clueless of how to actually treat a young girl well. But sometimes (especially when he is ordering his subordinates to give him advice) it crosses over into s*upid.

In the end I decided to stop reading for a couple reasons:
Spoiler
  1. The MC met another super good-looking and skilled mysterious dude, bringing her stable of spare tires up to 3 (the bratty 4th prince with the love-hate crush, the gorgeous monk, and now the beautiful palace-master "assassin.") I'm not really into harem, even when it is pretty subtle.
  2. When she doesn't reveal an object left behind by the good-looking assassin who just threatened her and held a knife to her throat, just because she doesn't fully trust the ML. Who just saved her. Like, even if you don't trust him, why would you feel any reason to cover for someone who just snuck into your room at night and nearly killed you? What "untrustworthy" thing would the ML even do with a piece of jade left behind by an assassin? Maybe... investigate the identity of the assassin? And the MC wants to stop this... why? She has absolutely no ability to investigate herself and no reason to prevent the ML from investigating.
[collapse]

At this point it just felt like the humor was going to decrease and the s*upidity and misunderstandings were going to increase, so I didn't continue. It's not terrible or anything, but I probably won't pick this up again to finish. <<less

After reading the entire novel (raw), I was a little disappointed by the ending but overall enjoyed the entirety. What I love most about this novel is seeing the growth of both MC along with their family and loved ones. The story is heartwarming but also heart-wrenching.

Spoiler

The ML does treat the MC like a little sister/daughter in the beginning but it changes later on. For those of you curious when the MC and ML actually become official it happens around c700, in which the MC is 15 and ML is 25 (time skip).
