When he regained consciousness he was already in another world. There was no meeting with a God, no cheat skills, just a sudden reincarnation. There was no time to find his bearings either, he was in a life-or-death trouble from the start that would somehow result in being employed as a valet to a vain youngster from an aristocratic family.

He would, in time, discover an astonishing truth about this new world and vow to fight it with all his might to protect the people important to him. No matter how reckless that would be.

TL;DR starts off 10/10 ends 3-4/10

This story suffers from existing just for the sake of existing. Most everyone would agree the first arc is the strongest part of the story, but after the first major "turning point" (if you've gotten there you know what I mean). The quality drops sharply, the characters start acting like complete idiots. Where initially the characters were written decently well, they all suddenly suffer from idiot syndrome when it comes to the MC. Also the type of story we get changes dramatically after each arc,... more>> and most of you should know that what happens during the big battle (you know what I'm talking about) that is when the story officially jumps the shark from mediocre to absolute garbage.

Really if you want to read this story, just read until the big battle and just stop. You will save yourself a lot of trouble. <<less

To be honest in my opinion the story is exhaustingly frustrating. I know, I know, the more the frustration piles the better the release BUT!!

Spoiler

Maria is a b*tch. I know I know she is just following route but everything is going against protagonist from the start of academy life that I can't take it anymore. This just to frustrating. I might break my device trying to read this novel. Oof!

[collapse]

It has potential, maybe it is even a good story, but it's too frustrating to get through the bad parts to reach the good part that I just dropped it. Sorry, but I do not like stories where protagonist keeps having bad things happen over over and over untill something one good thing happens.

Spoiler

BTW this just a personal rant but I so want Rion to just stab Maria and then marry Ariel on top of her corpse. Maybe I have wierd fetish??

[collapse]

Tldr: It requires patience to read and the reward for getting through the frustrating read is not be worth it. <<less

The beginning didn't so much "Hook" me into the story, a better way to describe it is that it allured me and then hooked me.

The first Arc was absolutely beautiful. We got to see the main cast grow before our very eyes. We could feel the pain and every emotion that the main characters were feeling. It was a well written and well executed arc.

In the second Arc we get to see the romance between Rion and Ariel blossom into something further, which was something that pretty much all readers... more>> were satisfied with. This Arc in a lower nuanced way, touched lightly on a subject that isn't really talked about. And that's Male r*pe. In a certain sense it's not really r*pe because Rion kinda honeypotted the women he slept with... yeah nevermind I kinda proved myself wrong with that one. But either way it showed that men can also feel regret after s*x, and after sleeping with someone they didn't want to sleep with, men can also feel violated, dirty, and unworthy. It took Rion an entire year after his marriage with Ariel to realize that it's ok to consummate their marriage. I absolutely loved every single interaction between the couple. Ariel being so supportive and accepting really took the cake for me.

Arc 3 was what made me rate 4 stars. I think the story could've done better without a Harem. In specific, I don't like Alice (I think that was her name), the consciousness of the world. It felt really forced that she fell in love with Rion, and I'd much rather have had her stay as an enemy. At this point Ariel is also sidelined as well, which was really disappointing. I think what could've been done instead after Rion disappeared, was rather than having Alice "save" him. The author could've introduced a new male character rather than another female character. And with this change we could've avoided sidelining Ariel. I think this novel could've benefitted greatly from switching the perspectives, in the case that they HAD introduced a new male character rather than female, switching perspective would've given this new character an impression on the readers, as we can read the nuances and thoughts of the new character. And little by little, reveal the backstory of this new character, but please, have him be someone more normal rather than having some sad excuse of a cliche tragic past or be some fallen royalty or noble, it's overplayed and it's only a convenient way to skip out on character growth and quickly introduce new characters.

All in all I enjoyed the novel. I just think it went downhill in terms of good character development in the later half. And the harem was quite frankly, in my opinion, a mistake. We loved Ariel because she was super possessive, loving, accepting, and supportive. I think that the author did her wrong by making her do a complete 180 in personality. <<less

I don't know about the others but I had my fair share of emotional breakdowns because of this light novel.

It's been a while since "just words" made me cry. No images, no accompanying emotional music, just words.

What made this awesome is the "fighting the will of the world" and nobody but the MC can ever understand it, not even the "supposed protagonist" which is a bit*h named Maria. If the world wants you to be good, you will be treated as good, and vice versa. The MC is technically not... more>> part of the "supposed game story" but he's so loyal and diligent that he made the world recognize him.

Although heavy note on the genre of "tragedy." Tragedy is one of the sweetest genre to read, and Shakespeare knows how sweet it is. <<less

This is a very interesting read. It starts with the regular transmigration trope (but with a dark touch), evolves into wrecking an otome game and finally building an empire. Besides the dark undertone, the author manages to utilize "the will of the world" very well to explain the plot. Coupled with interesting characters and playing with clichés, this novel definitely warrants 5*.
Ofcourse there are weaknesses, for example time skips to move the plot along and little tidbits that are read and forget, but this happens mostly in the first... more>> volume and shows that the author is aware of his faults. <<less

A Masterpiece!!

I only started reading this out of curiosity when I ran out out novels to read. I first expected a typical JP-novel with a spineless attitude. This, however, is seriously a great story.

First of all: ALL characters are fleshed out, even when they don't recieve attention, they still have a personality and goals of their own.

... more>> Secondly the MC recieves NO cheat when transmigrating. All things that he does are the results of his efforts.

Thirdly the MC has a REAL personality, which is a thing that's SERIOUSLY underestimated and with today's maze of tr*sh novels really rare.

Fourth: the plot. Man all those sleepless nights where I've been reading this instead. I'm not going to spoil anything, however, boy that's an actual plot where the MC struggles to help the people who saved him and means the world to him. He does all of this by himself as even the world seemingly rejects him.
Spoiler

Well at least in the start and a long way further on

[collapse]

Fifth: this is a brilliant masterpiece of authorship. We get drawn in easily, reading closely between the lines we see foreshadowing, we get enough details to piece together an entire world. Yet, the author also leaves much of this to our imagination to immerse us in our own created image of the work.

I seriously had no expectations when I started to read this, now though, I can't seem to stop reading it over and over. <<less

I feel as if I should begin by saying that I have never managed to successfully reread a novel on this site (up to the current chapter or otherwise) aside from oneshots and this. Perhaps that should convey my feelings towards this novel.

When one looks at the structure of the story, the events within it etc. It seems to be your usual store brand isekai. I feel the difference is in the characters. From the very beginning all the characters are well defined, have their own motivations and react in... more>> a variety of manners. To put it in a word, they are three dimensional. But what really makes it stand out is the way that everyone develops,

and that everyone does so in a manner that makes sense for who they are and what they go through. If you require an example of this I feel you should look no further than (Be aware: HEAVY SPOILERS AHEAD)

Arnold, the Crown Prince. At the start of the story he is a timid, if excelling man. As the story goes on however we witness him become possessive and a truly detestable antagonist.

And then, he realizes what he has become, and changes himself for the better. He becomes more likeable, knows his faults and wants to change them. While it is hard to forgive everything he has done, we can see how he attempts to take responsibility for his past actions. He changes. As do almost all the characters in this story.

Outstanding.

At first this story appears to be your run of the mill transmigration, with the protagonist having a miserable background, having a stroke of luck along with talent, intelligence and a scheming mind, with strong principles. Even when the additional otome game plot point is added, this initial cliché impression merely change to that of a 'canon fodder otome game transmigration'.

Otome game clichés there are a lot of in this story, however not in the way one would think. All the potholes and inconsistencies and conflicting aspects that are typically... more>> common and ignored in this genre are seriously brought up in the story. I'd like to say that it makes fun of these clichés but the truth is that they become in some twisted way, innocently sinister to the reader and even more so to the protagonist.

As the story progresses Bothe the plot and the characters grow and mature, giving a very realistic and human impression. As a reader I will came to feel strongly for these characters, both the 'villains' and the 'heroes'. Further more the plot keeps surprising me at every turn.

Currently the translators of this series have decided to inform the author of their translation of this novel and of the authors opinion. If translations are discontinued I'd consider trying to get a hand on any official translations which may be made available. This story is decently with it. <<less

It's a great novel. I'll be honest, I almost dropped it after the 4th chapter, and started to lose my faith when the whole "otome" game started. But, the whole "otome" game starts to make sense and is actually an interesting plot tool that the author used. Only because it's a otome game world, it doesn't mean that this novel is anything like an Otome game. Believe me. If you can get to the double digit chapter (10+), the pieces start to fall together.

Things that almost made me not even... more>> start this novel. Minor spoilers ahead:

About the "Rape" and "Tragedy" tags:

Spoiler

I'm on the latest chapter (as of now) and there is no r*pe in the story itself. And there is some tragedy, but not anything that will break your weak heart. The r*pe and tragedy tags come from the fact that the MC had a really, really hard childhood before the beginning of the story. Yep, he was r*ped, but then he gets his revenge. And it's explained in a way that you should not feel sick after reading it. It's part of the MC character building, and what make his personal development interesting.

[collapse]

About the Otome Game tag:

Spoiler

If you hate the notion of the "World" having its own will because it's a game, just think of it as the "World" being the god of this world. So many Isekai stories are driven by a god, so if it's actually a world based on a game, why it being sentient is a problem?

[collapse]

An now a major spoiler. Be warned!

Spoiler

The romance between the MC and the Villainess (as stated in the name of the novel) is really interesting. To be honest, my favorite character in this novel is the Villainess. The conclusion is also one of the best I've read in Isekai stories. And them as a couple is something else. It's still an Isekai novel, so do not expect Shakespeare level of drama to be raised, but do expect a good pace and good development.

[collapse]

And regarding the translation, I really like it. 5 stars to the Hikki no Mori group! <<less

I really liked the start of this novel however the fact that it turns into an otome game kind of ruins it for me. This adds nothing to the actual plot and only makes the characters 2D when they could have been brilliantly developed. I also find the concept of a world having a will that must be followed somewhat repulsive. ... more>>
Spoiler

So... lets talk about the actual ages of these characters. In the beginning of the novel we are told that Vincent is ten years old and we know that Ariel is his little sister which makes her at most nine. We know that Rion is a year younger than Arnold so after the time skip of two years Rion is at most twelve years old, which is really creepy. This means that Ariel is somewhere around eleven or twelve years old when this story is taking place... just saying.

Chapter 62 review

I very much like the idea the story is told from a characters point of view that is not the "Protagonist". Which is not a spoiler in a sense as he will be for everyone. However the world is a story that sees it differently than the reader. I love the style, how unique it is and many more things. My main complain is how people change their personalities around so quickly. Like two in perticular, change constantly. One of changes and tends to have a persoanlity for... more>> around 10 chapters and every 10 chapters it changes... while the other it is totally random. From ow I must have it to, it is to dangerous no one must have it... to ow well it is dangerous but we defiantly need it....... do we really need it lets just destroy it. Like dear lord I get it they are out for their own personal interest, I am just not buying it they are so indecisive they flip flop that much. Only issue everything else is pretty good, and that is not even enough to lower it a start from 5. It was so good... I was like one more hour of reading, one more hour, one more hour after laying down at like 10 to sleep for work, I closed it around 3 in the morning. <<less

So far the story's getting great. The character development (of some) contributes greatly on making the story better.

You will hate the 'protagonist' (or that's what she claimed) and the World for their schemes at preventing the real MC in achieving happiness, and this in return gives you the feeling of something I can't describe whenever the MC achieved or realizes a simple thing that can give him warmth and smile from the bottom of his heart.

Similar to other reincarnation stories the envy and greed of human being are displayed at... more>> full screen and the unjust way of how the world moves, and how ugly humans are, we're all beautifully laid out. <<less

great novel one of my favorites the MC is a badass and doesn't hesitate to kill or even us women s so that he can assist his masters . Good characters there are character u care about some u hate and some u have mixed feeling toward them (the crown prince) . A mix of action. Fantasy. Romance. Drama and lately kingdom building it have on of the best females leads. On flaw is that the MC somehow transformed into a perfect servant.

I'm a low-key romantic, and this was a fantastic love story. The only bad part is the the story isn't completely translated.

I really started caring about the characters in a way that doesn't happen often. I became really engaged in the story, and found it to be a very unique and surprising experience. The first chapters were a little slow, and were also bogged down with the usual stiff Japanese language. However after the fist five chapters or so the language gets less stiff and more relaxed. Also I had... more>> fears that the multiple personalities would hinder the story, but the fear turned out to be unfounded. Additionally I thought that MC would be limited by being a valet but it doesn't, and allows for the MC, and the other characters to develop in an interesting way. Right now I think this story is still one of the hidden gems and would recommend giving it a try. <<less

This novel is quite good. The pacing is a bit fast here and thete but the longer chapters make up for that. The setting is not revolutionary but the writing is refreshing and interesting enough to make up for it. Some of the more complex and difficult things get skipped way too fast though imo.

There is one thing that really ruined this for me. As certain others have said, the MC is a gigolo in the first story arc.

There is literally no reason for the MC to sleep with/seduce other... more>> women in order threaten/coax them for information afterwards. Even if the author tries to justify it with MC wanting to protect his dear ones. That left quite a bad aftertaste in my mouth. Because it just feels like a cheap and forced attempt to make the MC alfa. To make things worse, this change in personality came out of nowhere in the span of a single chapter. I was really surprised as the MC wasn't portrayed as a person who would do this during earlier parts. From the main female interest pov she's just getting constantly ntr'd as the MC is hanging around other women for "the greater good". <<less

The pace of the story change, and the direction

can change much more than imaginable.

Dont be discouraged by the few first chapters, as it will change later.

... more>> Dont get comfortable with the change either, because a huge climax is happening right next.

And after that, a change of direction, nearly a change of genre happen.

And boom, it change direction once again and drag protag back to the initial genre.

Kinda like reading a GRR Martin's game of throne series, what with the changes.

NOTE: due to the heavy element of the first part (rape, s*x, double personality...) it seem no LN deal will come for this series. <<less

FILWTV is an unexpected gem. The plot is intriguing and new with the MC constantly struggling to, literally, fight against the world. Readers should be warned though that there are certain mature themes to this story especially because most of them are ~12-15 years old (with Rion being the oldest but uncertain to how many years older).

Reading this story can be considered a rollercoaster of emotions. I've been angry and hideously sad but also the romance is actually really adorable. The relationships the MC formed, whether friendly or hostile, really... more>> added flavor to the story. Rion as the MC is also considerably powerful, but not excessively so, and smart. But what I liked about him is also his absolute loyalty to the pair of siblings he serves. He works hard for himself and for their well-being, almost losing his mind over them sometimes because the world hates him (coughs).

The flaws I could think of are the lack of certain details that can be considered spoilers. Some developments are quite farfetched when looked at a realistic angle but then again considering what the plot of this story is based on, it is generally excusable.

Here are the spoilery warnings:

Spoiler

There are mentions of s*xual assault and underage s*xual interc**rse.

Also the development of the slums, for example, is really quite unrealistic. The lack of Ariel and her fiery personality after the school arc also makes me sad. Plus, Vincent was mentioned twice (or once if counting only directly by the MC) after that too.

[collapse]

This story is a good read though. Character developments plus the unexpected twists really made it worth it. <<less

This is a masterpiece.

*First of all about the MC, at first I didn't like how he have like a split personality but then it was fixed by having them mixed though it kinda became like 3 personalities but it is still mainly Rion. I was a bit turned off by him being kinda like an M but I got used to it and started actually loving it and by the second Arc it became more enjoyable.

His loyalty and how he handle himself was really cool. He is able to sacrifice... more>> himself and his happiness for those he serve. He is indeed a Badass in a lot of different ways.

*The plot twist is awesome, I was wondering why there is an Otome Game tag on this but then I got mind blown by the twist in the story. Well I won't go in details it was just enjoyable.

*Politics, strategies and battles is good. He is not the super OP undefeated MC he have weaknesses and he strive to fix them. He also use others well.

*And most of all the romance and drama is kinda fun. You'd actually want to know what happens next. Unlike stories nowadays mostly there is no thrill the the romance area because the heroine is way into the MC and there is not much obstacle but in this yes they have mutual feelings but there is social barrier between them at first and a rival of big significance. There was some struggles and it was really enjoyable. <<less

One of the best reincarnation /otome game series I've read. The story and plot is unlike any other series out there. I like the fact that the MC is OP yet he does not flaunt it out but remain cool and detached in his surroundings. This is definitely a good read. I'm looking forward to more updates on this novel.
