Every drop of this family bloodline is stained with sin. They are the embodiment of contradiction; calm yet maniacal, with great memories yet often forgetful. They pledge themselves to their dreams yet often compromise, are angels that are also devils… It’s why I hate them. And also love them.

The only hope of his family, a youth with the blood of elves and demons walks on a battleground of annihilation and rebirth. He wills his way through boiling lava and icy depths, killing on this field of despair to strike down the lofty figure in his sight. One day he’ll grasp his blade tightly and survey his surroundings, only to find no more enemies to kill.

Its a typical novel that starts strong because the author plans out the start more or feels better working on something fresh and then slides into a confused mess. It just keeps getting worse over the entire novel so don't go thinking "oh its a bit worse but I can still take it". Its better than the average web novel tr*sh in some areas but the authors ego stops it from being worth reading and makes it fully deserve a one star rating.

From a few points in the writing you... more>> can tell the author wants to write something that is better or more serious than a typical web novel. Sadly one of his ideas for doing this is by taking what would naturally be satisfying and happy moments of the novel and instead turning them into tragedy. Contrary to the authors thoughts, the plot, character development, and so on doesn't automatically become better by making it tragic. Although having tragedy in web novels is fine, tragedy and web novels don't mix well together in this particular way because the point of web novels is wish fulfillment. Messy poorly written wish fulfillment can still be fun, messy poorly written tragedy...? Only ok in the service of a greater wish fulfillment, that doesn't really happen here. This novel is definitely not even close to good enough (except possibly near the beginning) to be worth reading with so much fun and wish fulfillment s**ked out of it.

Examples:

Spoiler

Reunited with what is basically his last surviving family member on his moms side, friend close enough to be sister of his mom. She immediately dies and her adopted daughter gets mind controlled to betray MC and is then horrifically killed

[collapse]

Spoiler

He has his first child but as he holds her in his arms he is thinking her soul probably got killed in the womb and her body taken over by an agent of one of his enemies

[collapse]

The latter/ending parts of the novel basically crank up the tragedy even more and because its such a terribly written mess you can't help but think its not authors ego anymore. The author gets bored of the novel and is just spitting on you.

Spoiler

By the end the majority of the harem/friends are slaughtered/commit su*cide turning themselves into brainless zombies to give MC a tiny inconsequential power boost. These include characters built up over the entire novel that had long arcs about MC working hard or being humiliated to help them and had tons of face time and interaction with MC. They die and commit su*cide totally pointlessly (basically think a mortal lover of immortal cultivator MC turning herself into a level one vein opening zombie to join the cannon fodder of his sect in a war) and the MC doesn't give a f*ck. MC literally gives a "sigh they had to do this because they couldn't keep up with me" in one line like that and then moves on casually. Its not that this is heartless MC, like I said he sacrificed and worked for them earlier, and when one of his side character generals dies its a big deal earlier. Thats why I said at this point its not even the author trying to make it a serious novel, he got bored of it and is just spitting on you.

[collapse]

Spoiler

A background character who just has a one night stand with MC and got pregnant gets the main happy ending with MC though. lmao.

[collapse]

Also the author seems pretty interested in NTR themes. Yes the MC does get NTRed. Hard. Actually it would make a good and unique scenario for a NTR hentai manga. <<less

+Very good translation.

+Most Characters felt deep and full of personality

+Read it in one week straight, fully immersed and couldn't stop

... more>> -Gets very rushed to the end, once I saw that there only was around one 5th of the story left I couldn't see how it could end in this small timeframe and this fear unfortunately became reality. Many storylines and plot points went missing or forgotten and it just felt rushed to the end.

If you are like me this novel will fully draw you into its world filled with characters you begin to care for and an interesting story to follow. Unfortunately the same novel left me with a feeling of emptiness and a tad of yearning for the kind of story it could have become if not for its later flaws. (If you have seen Game of Thrones you will know what I mean. I loved it until I started yearning for what it could have become if not for the way the later seasons got handled.) <<less

This novel is definetly worthy of being read. Even though the ending was a bit rushed, it's better than adding some incomprehensible sh*t in the end and making entire plot bad. There are no perfect things in the world. By the way, most of questions that I had were answered, which I find really satisfying.

This is a novel that I actually really like and would have given it a 5 star rating if not for a few things. I'll list out the things I really like and dislike about the novel

Yay:

  1. World-building. The premise of the novel is so expanse that I thought is really interesting. You can expect adventures in multiple planes, void, etc.
  2. Character building. MC's character is dynamic and it is reflected through the changes in his personality as we follow his journey from his prepubescent years to his adult years. The changes in his personality affect his decisions in life and the mistakes he made further forge his character.
  3. The shades of 'love'. It is not something that readers might appreciate but I personally feel that MC's love interests represent certain aspect/type of love. You'll see characters which strongly represent sacrifice, innocence/purity, primal desire, etc.
  4. Plot. Quite in-depth and seamless with minimal repetition (no multiple family trials, young genius tourneys and that bullshit)
Nay:

  1. Wasted potential. Author decides to create an expansive universe, introduces some interesting ones but decided to ignore or skim through them which is kinda related to my next point,
  2. Rushed final arc and ending. Book 9 essentially speed-covers multiple new places and in that book alone, MC 'leveled up' 6 times, the most in any book. Ending is not bad but rushed which kinda leaves a bittersweet taste.
  3. Lack of relationship development for MC's secondary love interests such as

The story is started with MC have a clear goal in mind. Driven by his goal, MC do everyting he can to achive the goal.

But later, about ch. 1100-end, the story suddenly go so fast that it left many loose ends. What so dissapointing is (in my opinon) the ending did not give a conclusion about many thing (do not wish to spoil).

But don't let my dissapointment make you would be reader to not read this novel. I strongly recomended this novel for read.

Dropped. After the first girl died it just went down hill for me. Read up on the other characters and boy o' boy, its just unpleasant for the poor young chaps, especially the mountain girl. Typical stuff though, so a 3 like usual.

Best novel out there! I was surprised by how good it was, for a chinese novel. I mean I got to a point in which normal chinese novels seem repetitive and I can hardly stomach them anymore. Usually the korean and japanese novels are better at naration and world building than the chinese ones, but lack in the fight scenes. This novel is packed with action but has a good naration and world building too.

This series is a breath of fresh air and I am glad I stuck with it.... more>> For al those that want to read this, be advised: the first volume/book is very boring and makes you want to drop it, but from book 2 it geta epic.

The young MC is literaly thrown to the wolfs and thats were the clan builing/kingdom building begins.

It kinda gets esoteric at the end when the MC trancends even the power of the gods and the ending kinda feels rushed to a certain point but it s worth the read. Dont miss the best novel out there, guys! Top 3 of my list, alonside chronicles of the primordial wars and release that witch. <<less

I liked the initial premise of the novel a lot. The idea of MC being in a higher world and then he can go and conquer lower worlds is also a very good plot point. Till now, it is also being used correctly. The side characters are around the MC for a period of time until now and they are also looking promising.

The only problem I have with the novel is the inconsistency in MC's character and personality. From the beginning to end, I am not able to understand his... more>> bottom line. <<less

The first volume is 5 star content right there, if I were to read only book one (the first 117 chapters) I would rate this novel five stars, no doubt about it.

The problem is the second book, that has double the chapters and is all filler with almost zero character development and completely zero plot development it was like the author said f*ck it I am out of here let the interns write the rest.

I am confused why the translator even bothered translating it, nothing really happened just some inconsequential... more>> power ups, he could just summarize the whole book in a paragraph and move on with book 3 there is no plot development what so ever.

All in all this is a 5 star novel when there is actually a plot and a zero star tr*sh at other times there is no middle ground. <<less

This is a story about magical world. In it you will find information on the world, like cultures, cities, religions, magic, swordsmanship, and a lot more. This information can be from extreme describes of places to large amounts of magical theories of magic. Unfortunately author keeps bringing up someone named Richard. And he shows up a lot to get into the way of this atlas.

On more serious note. Story isn't half bad just over shadowed massively by world building and character descriptions. If you're like me and tolerate the massive... more>> info dumps of world and character "building" (where takes large paragraphs to describe any and every character or majority of chapter it is describing places or other semi relevant things). You will find yourself skipping majority of chapters and only skimming this story. Sadly it can get to point that anything that isn't directly related to plot starts to become irrelevant. Things that normally would seem relevant become irrelevant in this story and get skipped for more basic story but considering story is fairly good guess its worth it. Though story isn't that outstanding. <<less
