The length of this novel is not short yet not long. The story is cute and light, maybe that's why I feel boring after half of the novel and I skim the rest.

5***** Editing and translation. I think what made this an enjoyable read is the translation and how it was edited.

3*** Story. Although it has a promising plot. There's just too many plotholes that would annoy the hell out of you. I'd suggest not taking the story to seriously and just enjoy the comedic scenes. There really are a lot of funny scenes here I cant even keep myself from laughing even in public! Just dont think too deeply about the story and you'll enjoy it.

3*** characters. MC is 50% annoying,... more>> 50% funny. She's a dumb spoiled apparently adorably cute and immature. It makes her annoying and funny at the same time. ML is a generic cn novel ml. Cold, ruthless, possessive. Dont particularly love the character but I also dont hate him.

All in all, this was a good read to pass time. Will not read it again though. <<less

I just feel compelled to write a review. Although it might not even be read by anyone.

First of all, I loved the translation (so thank you translator, despite having to suffer with your work being posted on other random websites). Secondly, this novel gets a 3, not because its bad, really its not. The first 250 chapters are very good for people who want some steamy-lovey-dovey ancient times romance. But after chapter 250 it just looks like the author decided to randomly patch stuff on the novel. Just like that... more>> game were you pass a paper and ask people to complete the story with a phrase and people just go and write whatever?

They basically take 7th prince away and put this random Miao people who never got mentioned before. Its like you are served a good chocolate cake and someone starts putting different toppings on it. They are good toppings, but not in this cake!!!

Oh. But I read until the end. Thanks Xuan'er. You saved it.

Because honestly? If it was me, after making Yu remember stuff, i'd dump him. This guy sucks at decision making (but then again, it might just be the mysterious random poison... sigh). <<less

I was recommended this title so I decided to give this story a shot, especially since it was also completely translated about a few months ago. So just be aware that this review is based on someone who's read it in a few sittings (rather than like most who read as the translations come out).

-------------

While the plot wasn't the most spectacular and the characters seemed to be used sparingly (mostly noticeable when it starts to go through those odd 'twists' and its various arcs after chapter ~200), I thought the... more>> story was quite refreshing to read. Of course this depends on your tastes and your degree of patience/tolerance, since this story comes with the many cliches/tropes that you'll find in plenty of other transmigration CN novels. So what really separates this from the rest of the stories out there?

I honestly thought that the translating/editing efforts had a huge positive impact on my enjoyment of the story. While the translator does seem to add a lot of odd messages in the middle of the story (i.e. Their rant against aggregating websites) along with very tricky chapter urls as you'll notice, the story is ultimately much easier to consume and feels refreshing to read due to the translator's/editor's passion for the project which can clearly be seen. You will notice the consistency of the translation as well as the translator's personal remarks in the story which shows they clearly do love the story along with what they are doing. Unfortunately, NovelUpdates reviews guidelines won't let me rate it based on the translator, so I won't let this affect my rating (which is why I gave it a 4 star).

Now onto my review of the story:

Spoiler

First Impressions:

"The Eunuch is Pregnant" from its very first few chapters gives you some mysteries on the the protagonist's original identity, conveniently shrouded due to the female protagonist suddenly transmigrating into the body near the walls. You, as the reader, find out that the female protagonist is employed for the royal residence of the male lead as an eunuch, which raises additional questions on why the original body came to this occupation.

Initially, due to the female protagonist's modern (21st century) upbringing and the personality that didn't prepare her for the politics of the royal residence, this actually works in her favor when she comes into her first encounter with the male lead. This is because the female protagonist's easy-to-read and honest impression was an obvious and refreshing change for the male lead, a Prince, who is usually met with fearful and/or deceitful gaze from the majority of the working class.

My Thoughts:

Personally, I feel that the story started off at a steady pace and I saw this turning into a possibly slow story of 500+ chapters, especially since it was a CN novel, but it was surprising when I remembered that this story would have about 300 chapters (chapter counter is different because the translator had decided to separate them based on length). This made me worry due to the pacing even up to around chapter ~180, and honestly past chapter ~200, it did feel like the author messed up on their pacing when they included time skips of up to ~5 years (i.e. When ML is reported to be killed before the night of female protagonist's wedding). I understand the author wanted to use those time skips to supplement how the female protagonist improved/changed, but feel like they didn't properly utilize the time skip mechanic to their story properly and felt a bit 'odd' (for a lack of a better word) when you find out the ensuing interactions.

Normally I've seen similar stories take a few more chapters before transitioning into time skips, but it ultimately just happened abruptly in my opinion, which led to me personally not feeling too attached to the MC's son, along with the actual impact it might have had to her and those related to MC/ML. Perhaps it's just that I feel like the author could have utilized this supposedly heart-wrenching part of the story better with improved transitions and a more immersive illustration of the impact/aftermath of the ML's sudden disappearance.

However, even with the odd pacing and the poor usage of time skips, I still felt like the story was overall satisfying to read. Although the story is riddled with certain tropes/cliches that you'll see in plenty of other novels, I believe the story does deserve its credit on a rather solid first half of the story. Although the pacing after the time skips felt disjointed, the arcs beyond it aren't too bad, and you do feel somewhat emotionally invested to see through the story and watch the female protagonist and the male lead overcome the various odds posed against them ([in]curable poison, amnesia when they finally meet, love parasite witchcraft, etc).

What really kept me engaged was the mystery shrouded behind the female protagonist. Although I found it predictable (I predicted most of it), it did catch me off-guard when the female protagonist was more of a 'look-alike' or a doppelganger of the evil cult's leader's wife. I honestly thought the female protagonist would be Bai's sister, Princess betrothed to 7th Prince, and also the alleged wife, fiance, or love interest.

Would've also been interesting to see the female protagonist utilize her modern knowledge/'cheats' more to her advantage out of maybe the three times she utilized them and really kind of pivot her into that 'irreplaceable' role that the author kind of pushes with her identity as it's revealed so it made better sense. This is because of the little to no politics and the lack of tension/corruption behind the two kingdom's large ecosystem (usually multiple empresses/princesses/prince/etc, you'd think there is some form of rivalry/scheming). So with the convenient setting of there being no adversaries internally outside of the one love interest (Ning), I felt like the author made it convenient for them to skip over the potential story/sidestory of the protagonist overcoming adversaries that goes beyond martial arts and using her own strength over relying on the male lead (especially since he was gone during this part). Due to the lack of that characterization/development, it felt like the overall world building was a little more flat/simplified.

[collapse]

Overall I'd give this a 3.5 stars. Since I can't give it a 3.5, I've rounded it up to a 4 star since it was overall an enjoyable read for me personally. In the end, it's a fictional story so obviously while I felt like it was missing a lot of potential as I've written in the spoilers, I still gave it a higher rating than what I would normally give since it still did achieve what it was set to achieve, which was to give the reader an emotional journey of the trials of two lovers from different periods (one modern, one ancient). <<less

This was nice. The story itself was good and engaging. Although the last 50 chapters were a bit of a drag it felt like so many things happened on those 50 chapters, more than the previous 250.

There were moments when I got frustrated with the female lead. Moments when I have to ask if she's so smart why does she act so dumb? But I guess that's one of the reasons I got hooked on this story. I'm a bit biased with the male lead since I'm a sucker for... more>> cold on the outside but passionate on the inside types. The naughty bits needed a bit of variation and some of the spoofs were off the mark it kind of ruined some moments, at least for me.

A lot of things happened on this story, at times it was a bit chaotic, but it worked out fine. Let's just say this story was an experience in itself.",) <<less

I've been a reader of this novel since day one. I'm so happy and thankful for Grace (translator) to be translating this beautiful hilarious novel for us to enjoy and read for free. Awesome translating skills even though Grace always complain about killing ton of brain cells for doing it. For anyone who has given up on this novel. The romance and plot line of this novel consists of a slow pace. The translator actually did cut out some unnecessary chapters in the novel and it's understandable. Over all this... more>> novel is hilarious. I love Yao Yao I enjoy reading about her inside thoughts. The comment of every chapters are hilarious ?. You actually need to give it a chance, it will be worth it. ? Lastly for us to support our translator please read from their actual website instead of others. <<less

definitely R18+. This novel is very naughty. Must read if you looking for laugh with slight ecchi.

k, give u the real review. Don't treat this like serious heavy weight novel and analyze the plot too much. This is pure comedy with ecchi point here and there novel. We got usual dummy girl as FL and god-level-bishie (with a bit s*x minded) ML, with lots of s*upid misunderstanding and ecchi moment (honestly this novel is only medium level for ecchiness, although the description is somewhat vivid, is not to the point... more>> of vulgar novel with no plot but xxx).

The translation is very good, with fast update and I rather like reading the translator's rant. It's make me feel there is real people behind this novel actually working instead of machine.

As for the plot, it was somewhat good, until the climax in the half then after it's gone downhill. I'm not gonna put spoiler here. And there is another side story about the son too, not as good as the original but quite entertaining. <<less

This novel is very sweet, about a pretty clueless transmigrated girl who meets a cold and icy prince. The story can be a little repetitive, slow and predictable at times, and the characters a little goofy and naïve. However, it is fun and lighthearted. The translator, Grace does an amazing job with editing and cuts a lot of the author's long descriptions. I don't recommend this novel to serious souls, but do to people who have time and want to get a good laugh.

It has everything, I don't think I'll find one this good anytime soon. Funny time traveling female protagonist hiding that she's a girl, secret pregnancy (even she doesn't know it), icy male lead who only loves "him", and some racy scenes between the two from rather early on. This low rating is really undeserved.

Love this!!!

The male lead is the brother of the emperor and also a pervy even if he don't know that his eunuch is a girl in disguise.

The female lead is a girl who is wonderful in creating stage play but also a sucker for food. Her loyalty to male lead as an eunuch only as deep as his pocket and ability to part with it. She often angered the prince for randomly burst out her idea of what she will do after she is free from her servant status.

The romance... more>> is sweet with occasional event of mild s**, that is 5 parts hillarious, 4 part sexy and 1 part sad. And Grace, the translator keep the story pace on point as she is taking a huge creative action by stepping over the repetitive parts of the original story without losing its essence.

It is a fan-translation so if you can do give support to the translator by clicking the ads in her page and comments in her posts or leave reviews here.

Edit: I forgot giving it stars but it'll be ????? From me. <<less

A fun genderbender story with a quick witted modern girl living a lie as a eunuch under a female avoiding Prince. The story has lots of humor but is very slow paced. I am always looking forward to the next chapter. If the guys were the guys from You’re Beautiful (kdrama) The king of hell would be Taekyung, 7th prince would be Jeremy and Donfai would be Shinwoo. Keep up the good work.

Love the quirky story! Highly recommend it! Translator does a great job!

It is a transmigration story with a cross-dressing aspect in it! There is a lot of mystery as to who she is and why she is a eunuch in the ML residence! She has no memories left over by the previous host of her body! She herself adapts well to the situation. She is such a cute eunuch that every make she comes in contact starts questioning their sexuality! They all secretly hope she is a she but also... more>> seem ok with accepting her as a man. Some scenes are hilarious and ambiguous! Some scenes should be R-15 al least! Seeing the updates makes me smile! <<less

This novel starting and development in stories are quite slow and sometimes the ML do something to the MC that can't be accepted by now days culture. But, at that time it's acceptable. I honestly gave up after reaching chapter twenty. This isn't due to the story as much as it is due to how ridiculously small the chapters are. Before you even get settled in to the story, you already have to click next chapter. Breaks immersion every time. I can honestly say without exaggeration that these are more pages than chapters. You can think of it as this. From chapter 1 to lets say 18 should have been chapter 1.

I don't know if it's the translator cutting up the real... more>> chapters to make it seem like they're releasing more content, or if it was the author's original intention to make these so ridiculously small, but either way it's extremely uncomfortable to read. If it was ever completed and put into one book or file, maybe I'd give it a shot again when I could actually focus on it.

I actually will comment on one thing about the story. Adding stuff like "Lily white" in front of hands or "pale and smooth" in front of face EVERY TIME does not make it a good descriptive novel. I don't need to be told how beautiful every glance and every action is EVERY SINGLE TIME.

"Her lily white a** gracefully swayed over the toilet like a swan, her pale and smooth face now red with excursion while her rose bud lips pressed together tightly. Her slender white arms were braced against each side of the stall... slenderly... and whitely... *

*plop......... plop.... plup." <<less
