Ning Shu had dropped dead. But in a burst of good fortune, she became a task-taker in charge of counterattacking for the pitiful cannon fodders. Thus, Ning Shu, in one world after another, took all kinds of life roles and encountered all kinds of “you’re heartless, you’re ruthless, you’re making trouble for no reason” people. She encountered all sorts of white lotus flowers, green tea b*tches, scheming b*tches, by the batch.

“Does any true beauty still exist in the world?!” Bellowed Ning Shu angrily. “You annoying tr*sh! I’m just here to counterattack, please don’t get in the way of me completing my task.” Transmigration main character, reincarnation main character. There’s only a lazy task-taker, no indestructible main character halo. Ning Shu had no choice, but to painfully gather moral integrity in each of the worlds.

I dropped this novel at chapter 15 because, for one, I felt tricked. There was a romance tag but no f*cking romance until one of the arcs, and only one I say. It doesn't have it anymore but I came into this novel expecting romance and was quite disappointed. There was also a cunning female lead tag, which I removed because this female lead is not smart- she's average. She gets things her way because of cheats. That's it. Furthermore, there was a historical tag which I removed. Historical means... more>> HISTORY not some made up dynasty with crazy magic- who put it there? I was expecting some historical accuracy because of it. I feel like I would have actually liked this story had I not had so many unmet expectations from the tags and had gotten impatient waiting for these tropes to show up.

The other reason is because it's so god damn substandard. I can handle novels without romance, in fact one of my favorite novel doesn't have romance but that's because it didn't matter to me since the novel was just that great. This novel goes nowhere near that level. The thing is, it uses such formulaic plot for each transmigration and let me just say- the villains are so 2D I want to hang my self. Basically the female lead is always right, the white lotus/green tea b*tch is always against the female lead and the male lead always takes female lead side bc I don't f*cking know it's so BLAND <<less

I love this novel because of how savage and cunning the MC is. The only complaint I really have is that either the arcs are too long of the chapters are really short... its at chapter 120 ish and only on the second arc. If you go into the novel with a really moral or self-righteous mindset, you might take issue with the MC's action. However, if you read it as a revenge novel, it's quite satisfying.

Well MC is...

Chapter 124

Spoiler

All around were the sounds of blades clashing. Fresh blood streamed as swords cut through flesh and countless people gave their last cries in agony. Ning Shu clenched her teeth. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see the Tartar horses trample over the corpses of Great Yong soldiers.

Indescribable sorrow and hatred arose in Ning Shu’s heart and she rushed towards the oncoming stream of Tartars, sending her whip flying towards their faces. The barbs caught on their skin and even ripped some of their eyes out.

“Forward, forward... ” Finally, the sound of distant horse hooves came. The long awaited rescue group had finally arrived.

A Great Yong general came leading troops. When he saw all the corpses on the ground, he immediately shouted, “Prepare for battle!”

He Lianying hadn’t brought a lot of soldiers. When he saw the newcomers, he briefly glanced towards Ning Shu who was so covered with blood that only her bright eyes were visible, then said to his troops, “Return.”

The Tartars quickly moved back behind He Lianying and stood confronting the soldiers of Great Yong.

Ning Shu wiped at the blood on her face. Even her nose was filled with the heavy, disgusting stench of blood.

She didn’t dare to be careless and keep her eyes on He Lianying. Her hand was trembling slightly as she gripped her whip. He Lianying smiled towards Ning Shu nonchalantly. Although he was clearly injured, the only visible indication of it was that his face was slightly pale. Other than that, he didn’t seem to be in pain at all.

He sure was fierce. He was so harsh even towards himself.

He Lianying pointed towards the captured Tartars and said lightly, “Release our North Mongolian warriors.”

Ning Shu was provoked to laughter. Didn’t he know the situation he was in? She couldn’t help but say, “What if this princess refuses? What does it matter if the soldiers of your North Mongolia are strong? Our Great Yong will just use ten lives to exchange for the life of one of you Tartars. If ten won’t work, then we’ll use a hundred.”

He Lianying’s pupils dilated for a moment, then he burst out laughing. During this time as he had been watching Ning Shu, his gaze had been becoming brighter and brighter. In the end, he laughed. This laugh actually contained a tone of appreciation. He Lianying rubbed his lip with his finger.

“Who would have imagined that a person with unyielding character like this existed in a flourishing place where people lived in drunken stupor? Not even the border generals of Great Yong dare to speak to this prince this way. Jiahui, you shouldn’t have been born in Great Yong. You’re a woman that should be galloping through the plains.”

Ning Shu simply sneered. For the sake of not marrying you, she’d pay any price.

Currently, Ning Shu wasn’t sure if she would be able to complete this task. When it came to a collision between nations, individuals were truly too insignificant. She must help the original host get free from this man.

From the looks of it, the power of the storyline was just too strong. Although she had managed to get out of the peace marriage, this man, He Lianying, ended up fixating on her.

Men were all scum that only wanted things they couldn’t have. When he had married the original host, he had treated her inhumanely. Now he actually wanted her to leave with him? That was practically throwing Great Yong, throwing Li Wen’s face on the ground and stomping on it.

It was likely that He Lianying was doing this to attack Great Yong’s morale. Just imagine it. If your country’s princess ran off with the enemy’s prince and it was even right after a humiliating peace marriage had been proposed. It’d be a huge joke.

Her name would go down in infamy.

Ning Shu sneered, “Your North Mongolia is a place where monarchs don’t act befitting of their status and subjects have no sense of propriety: a place that lacks the three principles and five virtues. How could a crappy place like that be fit for this incorruptible princess to stay in? He Lianying, whatever hole you rolled out from, just roll back in there. Scram!”

He Lianying’s face turned increasingly pale and when he heard what Ning Shu said at the end, he was so angry he coughed up blood. Of course, how could a person as shameless as He Lianying be angered to the point of coughing blood? It was the poison taking effect.

“You really did use poison.” He Lianying wiped at the black blood at the corner of his mouth.

Ning Shu spread out her hands and shrugged innocently. “This princess is an honest person and never lies.”

He Lianying fixed his gaze on Ning Shu’s face and examined it inch by inch. In the end, he gave a hearty laugh. “Princess Jiahui, be prepared. This prince will not stop until this prince obtains you!”

“This princess is really scared ah.” Ning Shu patted her chest. “This princess just likes the way you look when you’re driven crazy by frustration but still not able to obtain this princess.”

“Let’s go... ” He Lianying coughed up another mouthful of blood, then he commanded the North Mongolian soldiers to retreat.

He Lianying turned his horse around and prepared to leave, giving up on the captured Tartars. Ning Shu laughed coldly. Did you think that you were free to come and go as you please on the soil of Great Yong?

She grabbed her bow and arrow, and with a pull, drew the bow into the shape of a full moon. The tip of the arrow gleamed with cold light as it pointed towards He Lianying’s back.

She released the bowstring, and the arrow flew straight towards He Lianying.

There's no romance in this revenge transmigration system novel. That's probably the best thing about this novel as there'll be no godly husband who, once you get together, you rely on for everything (or almost) from then on (cuz the biggest thigh you can hug won't be the same husband who follows you to everyworld you go anymore) . There'll just be nonsensical pricks the MC has to bash.

Do you like torturing yourself by trying to make sense of the nonsensical? If so, then feel free to tackle the meaning behind the title.

That's all I really had to say, as these sorts of novels tend to die fairly quickly. As to whether or not it's any good, wait and see?

I did like the first few chapters tho

This book is interesting in a way. A bit addictive but I have several problems.

The main character does to much when it is not required and too little when she should have done more.

Ex. In the 3rd arc I think she went to far in her treatment of the Xiao family and her cousin. Especially Xiao Yan and Su Meng. The ending of forcing her naive cousin into prostitution and slipping hormones in Xiao Yan's food to make him obese was not satisfactory. I found it sinister and needlessly... more>> malicious.

In arc 5 she doesn't do enough to stop the rapist men especially Wen Ruhau. He is one of the worst male characters and she basically folds her hands as she allows him to go of the deep end and become a plundering, raping, mu*derous bandit.

In the arc I'm currently reading with Zhu Suniang and Zhu <<less

This story is hilarious, while there is a lot of annoying part but still hilarious 😂

The translation are good, the writing and plot also nice... It is a bundle of short stories with different theme, a dramatic sometimes tragic but still an interesting one. The FL crack me up a lot... even more when she is trapped on the task that against her believe or ridiculous one. If you want to read something heavy but light, try this... The first set is kinda depressing though but the next could only... more>> be regarded as annoying for me.

Spoiler

my only setback was how the original ML and FL always act in the story. They almost had the same concept through multiple stories and it's boring, really really boring. The ML are blinded by love to the FL despite his whole background as someone powerful or smart. While the FL are always the willful, naive and foolish type. They'll be someone who is in love and deeply consumed by lust without abide the moral and such. What a weird set. Is it for the sake of no romance to our MC or whatsoever but this kinda of repeating set is annoying. Kinda want to see some romance that includes the FL too or just focus on something else rather than this hideous love story between the og players

the thing about this novel is that it subverts a lot of the tropes common to female targeted web novel like romance, liking scum male leads and yada yada yada. BUT it does that by taking on a lot of tropes from male shuangwen (cool/faceslapping) level up cultivation novels. Which were new and fun at your first read then got old and boring real fast because the MC "faceslaps" everyone who opposes him whether they have a point or not.

my advice: read by arc, skip the ones you don't like... more>> and if you get tired of it, just drop it for another day. <<less

This is a story about a girl who spent most of her life in a hospital going to numerous worlds to fulfil the wishes of people with a jerk of a system. This is an enjoyable read though there a few worlds that take things a little too far. It also seems like they are major to the plot developement though. The arc where she encounters a god, the one where she meets another system user, and the one where she became an official task taker. You actually feel sorry... more>> for the characters that are meant to suffer in these ones. Not really the one where she became an official task taker. As even if she took things really far in her vengeance, they actually really deserved it. It won't be everyone's cup of tea. White lotuses suffer, scumbags get what they deserve, and sometimes people are just caught up in the crossfire, and sometimes the main character gets help from a crazy doctor. <<less

The main theme is that a woman is better to be independent of a man. But you can label it as "how to be and responsible adult and how to fix it if you're not".

  • high quality translation (<3)
  • face slapping is not a cringe (1 arc is not representing how cool is it)
  • badass FL
  • character growing
  • arcs are so interesting
  • side-characters
  • I don't how to evaluate the ML and FL relationships but I'm waiting for their real relationship development (and I hope they could be healthy)
-:

  • you worrying about FL and recommend her a good psychologist to make her thoughts healthier because it based on some strange traditional Chinese views
  • part of cringe with DOMINIRING CEO and other novels stereotypes

Barely made it through the first arc.

It's not that it's bad, it's just not good. And so real. I mean in the sense of the MC having a system that does nothing and is basically not involved, so she stumbles around and tries to do the best she can. With no help, abilities, tips or tricks, it just feels like an average Jane suck in a nightmare. It's a bit depressing. And because she has no bonus skills, it's a bit boring. Not my cup of tea.

If you want to... more>> read about an ordinary person becoming the cannon fodder character without anything to help her as opposed to the golden finger/golden thigh/system store/OP/accessories that help the story move, then this might be the one for you. <<less

This Novel is one of the Best Quick Transmigration Novels with the other being Side Character Transmigrations

Main problem is the System, it seems to screw over the MC at every opportunity, it will straight up steal from the MC, transfer them to wrong worlds and wrong bodies and it will even just trick/lie to them to get them into bad situations for what? shits and giggles, honestly if this wasn't a System or QT novel it seems like the type of character to get Faceslapped and forgotten within the first... more>> 100 chapters

oh right, the Authors majorly sexist, mainly towards her own s*x but a little to the other as well

by the way the Translators Website is absolutely SHIT, its terrible, not to mention that half of the time the recent Arcs/Chapters aren't even displayed in the Table of Contents

edit : author is also homophobic

another edit : the MC seems to just become some kind of villain who looks down on everyone

no real reason

it starts with the MC being indifferent, then slowly transforms into just hating everyone for being human

man... this Author has some problems

Final Edit probablt : author is seriously getting into some homophobic and man hating territory in the recently translated chapters, honestly its getting hard to read, with every 3rd chapter talking sh*t about men and how women are the only reason men can live

Like, women and men need each other to exist and repopulate <<less

This is one of the best, if not the best, QT novel w/ FMC. Our MC isn't OP nor have any crazy cheats. She isn't like those other useless/naive FMC that just waits / tries to find a golden ML thigh to hug. Our MC doesn't hav a ML to come swoop in & do every thing for her; she doesn't need to endure permanent abuse from some dominating ML; in fact there's no actual ML at all so our MC won't need to b forced to fall in love... more>> w/ those jerks xD

Instead our MC needs to do everything by herself, from scratch. Considering that in her original life, she was stuck in the hospital & can't live like a normal person her age, she's literally starting at 0 (or in the negatives LOL). Her system is so troll that it doesn't really giv her cheats, it's not some annoying cheerleading team either. So MC's pretty much left on her own. She gets better as time goes on, but a lot of times especially at the beginning she can seem to act like an idiot. But that's quite realistic considering her backgrd w/ little support.

The manhua I'll Make the Scumbags Cry Their Hearts Out translated by Webnovel is worth checking out as well. I thought I would b bored b/c I read the novel up till c1465 before reading the manhua, but hav found that I'm quite enjoying the lovely manhua as well. It has nice illustrations & good translations too.

So to conclude, I love our MC, love how she struggles, love how she has no personal ML, love how independent she is, & love how she grows. The translations of this novel is definitely worth the wait for. U might want to wait to read it arc by arc so u won't puke blood from waiting for the faceslaps LOL <<less

I have mixed feelings about this novel. On one hand I freaking love Ning Shu and want her to face slap everyone, on the other I hate all the scummy characters and I can't believe just how shameless they all are. They're so damn shameless and scummy that I quit the novel and came back after a year just so I can read more about Ning Shu. It's so hard, but I'll continue on reading to see how far Ning Shu goes!

This book is hands down amazing! I usually don't like to go out of my way to write reviews, but I had to for this one. I don't know about you, but I love GOOD parodies. Ones that while it simitanously make fun of other cliche works, it also input the author's views (which are in line with most of us, I like to presume but have a hard time believing Chinese readers are into). It writes about all kind of overused tropes that you might or might have not... more>> noticed how illogical/s*upid/hurtful/ it was while reading. And yes, it does stretch those stories a bit but the main point still is there. I read other reviews and agree with some of the things it says, like the fact that the author has their 3 views straight and while it makes Ning shi such an independent woman that doesn't care/cater to men, the author still writes things like "women like to be dominated/conquered by men" I almost threw up blood.

What kinda nonsense is that, you literally write about a character who mind you, DEFIES that whole notion. It is just mind baffling. This just shows you though not every Webnovel will follow what it says. It imperfect, unlike actually written books that plan their stories/characters/plots ahead of time and plan it well.

I also have some issues with some arcs I thought was a little too extreme

Spoiler

Like the arc with a new actress who didn't want to take advantage of the unwritten rules of entertainment circle (forgot which arc), I thought it was very insensitive of the MC to force her to go or even snicker at her choices. I mean yes, the original did that and yes she didn't deserve to die, but I think it was taken out of context. Like Ning shi didn't go deal with the guy that took the original's life but went after a little girl that couldn't even defend herself? I thought that was so dumb and in contrary to what the author advocates repeatedly about in her work. Another instance is one of the latest (forgot which arc again) where the original is a backwards women who was left behind by her "enlightened husband". MC literally wanted to kill the guy and the original had to stop her, yes physically constrain her. I was so baffled for a while 😶. Like, honey it isn't your job to kill that person. Yes it was horrible, yes he deserves his dues. But he doesn't deserve to be killed by you, I wouldn't have minded if the killer was the original girl because SHE was the one who got hurt this much.

[collapse]

So while the MC is an amazing character, one of the few characters that I actually adore, she still has flaws just like a lot of us. While She makes mistakes, she learns and grows. And that's very important in a character. I'm no writer, but you need a character that grows on the readers, whether that is physically or mentally growth. I usually don't like like OP characters. I didn't mind it when I first started reading Chinese novels, but at some point, it just got very boring because the MC didn't grow on me. And most MLs, don't even get me started. Seriously what's wrong with female chinese writers?? Why the heavy emphasis on men being the CONQUEROR? the STRONGER? Even this author doesn't escape from the male dominism. Maybe it's the culture? I am genuinely curious why these women are okay with putting their FMC through traumatizing things like r*pe, confinement, abuse. I do understand that some readers might be into that kinky things (but only for sex). Its not one, two or even three novels which I have seen this. It's literally every novel that I try to read has topics like that. I would have understood if it was something to overcome, but no they explain that as "love". So again, curious why Chinese female writers are okay with this. It's just something I don't understand, why make r*pe a glorious thing? Why hide the foul smell of it and call it love?

Sorry, I definitely strayed from the topic too far (to whoever read my whole review, please do answer what you think) . Coming back to OPness, I find that lazy writing because you can't connect so I tend to stay away from that. And this MC is that person. The romance is never needed in this book because Ning shi is THAT b*tch. I wish I could be her friend in real life. And for people/reviews that says MC is weak and a door mat... huh.

I'm shook, where is the doormat? She has such a strong mind and will that most of us probably can't conjure. You guys have gotten spoiled rotten by OP characters that have the power to transcend the heaven and make fun of God lol. She's a normal person. She was a sick patient. How is she supposed to do these heaven defying/illogical shitty things? I mean I'm not gonna act like I wasn't put off by the first arc. Definitely was. I frankly don't think that was even needed to be honest. Cause it made her a coward but it was her first mission. She didn't know jack. But I do agree that as a first arc, the author probably should've went a different road to rope in readers.

Well there you have it. I mean it is not an official review. But it does cover most of the things, I like to believe.

Anyway it's a Webnovel, so honestly it's just there to relieve boredom. And for pessimistic people like me, the parody is to die for lol. You really do learn some things from this book. And it will change your views on other Webnovels. I stopped reading some genres, tropes thanks to this lol. <<less

There are some really excellent arcs in this. My favorite are the ones where there is no ML. The MC is sometimes hilarious and sometimes pathetic, which I think is reasonable, given the variety of tasks the MC has to take.
Spoiler

I do get tired of the frequent 'must be beautiful' trope in so many of the arcs, but there are several arcs where that doesn't happen, and there are some arcs where the MC isn't young, too.
