This novel really frustrates to a point of wanting to pull all my hairs off and the thing that most frustrates me is not the bland plot, MC, side characters and world building, heck even the battles are meh the thing that frustrates me the most is the start of this story where the MC hasn't even reincarnated yet, for me the novel starting that way didn't even need to be an isekai and instead a rom-com with misunderstanding and with a setting like that where he even had a... more>> little flashback of his mother saying that she hated his face would be an awesome little hint for a kind of sad background for the MC and even the way the MC hated himself for that it would've been a great rom-com if the author had any sense in making a character with a little depth it just makes me sigh that the how this novel started had such a potential to be a very funny yet sometimes emotional rom-com and instead became a bland isekai with bland everything from plot to character to even the fights. <<less

Unfortunately this story is a mess. It had a good start with plenty of hooking power that could have worked as a great intro into something better, but after 40 or so chapters it just went downhill. Here's some examples that have been spoilered just in case.

Spoiler

Our MC had a private tutor coaching him in school subjects. He managed to reach university level before entering school and his father knew it, therefore he had to go to school because reasons.

MC is way too OP for the story to go anywhere. He can do just about anything with his magic, including a spell like "That sort of thing should not be". Yes, you read that right. If that wasn't enough he's also super strong and has the strongest summoned beast. To negate any potential conflict he's also super hottie and comes from prestigious and wealthy family. Armed with these powers our MC leaves on a quest to become the best helper for his father's paperwork. No, seriously.

Pointless PoV chapters. A fight is played from the MC's PoV. Then the kidnapped friend's. Then the bad guy's. Then the random dog who happened to stand nearby. Well, not the last one but it might have been better if it did. I'm still confused why that firework maker needed to have two chapters.

The summoned beast played barely any role in the story. It got summoned, turned into human and appeared in about one scene in a minor role that could have been done without.

Have you seen more than one slice of life school anime series? You now know half the plot. This is also why it's not that great as a slice of life.

[collapse]

The world has nothing going for it other than the fact that magic is in Japanese. The geography hardly gets explored in any way despite the story having presented a map. The world is also made s*upid to make the MC look awesome. No one has managed to decipher Japanese in the 800 years it's been available despite the best researchers worldwide looking into it.

The characters are flat. MC gets a little more attention than usual but the rest are not memorable. Unlike usual, this time most of the characters are otome game stereotypes with two token girls thrown in. The series seems to go for fujo-bait with most scenes involving at least one bishounen near MC who constantly thinks about his tutor.

Do yourself a favour and skip this. If you absolutely have to, read until MC leaves to school and imagine the rest. The ending feels rushed and fails to really do anything anyway. <<less

This novel is a mess, without any real redeeming feature.

It tries to start with world exposure, introducing characters, giving everyone a personality, slowly unveiling arcs and so on.

It also really wants to be one of those funny novels where the main character misunderstands more and more, getting farther and farther from common sense and understanding.

... more>> I say "tries" and "want", because the level of writing is sadly pretty low.

In the end, you are left with an OP character, a few interesting-ish side characters, a story that is so all over the place that it doesn't make any sense and a pace that accelerates all the time until it becomes a mad rush to "finish" the story, discarding mostly everything that was built up (characters, world, story...).

The translation is pretty rough, but even if it was in the hands of really talented translators it would not change much, because the problems come from the original writing.

Overall, I would say this is not a good read, but on the other hand, it can make you gain a new appreciation towards the other misunderstanding novels, so maybe it's worth trying out for that reason. <<less

Incredibly indulgent writing, normally, this is a bad thing since it ends up being some sorta overpowered Gary Stu running around all over the place, but in the case of this novel, it was on track to do so in the digest, but once the WN section starts, the pace slows to a crawl and turns into a complete slice of life type novel. That said, the pacing is incredibly slow so those expecting to jump into some real action right off the bat will probably be disappointed, that said,... more>> the "filler" (?) doesn't feel like filler so I had no problems with it aside from reading a fair amount of chapters and wondering when a major plot event would happen. As an addendum, the translator's notes that are scattered throughout the translations break immersion (but frankly, there's very little immersion anyway in such an indulgent series ;P) but are highly amusing to read.

Edit: done reading the whole thing at last, after dropping it for a few times. I really overrated this series (originally 4 stars). It's not horrible, but it's not particularly good or interesting either. It's a fun read to pass the time, but it's not really something that should compel anyone to read it unless they're curious. It's decent at best, rather childish at worst <<less

As an art graduate, I know how hard it is to actually write a story, and I really want to believe every piece of art have their own value, but unfortunately, it's a fact that no matter how much you polish a shit, it's still a shit, I give this 2 star because I really want to believe that there still something out there that even worse

won't say anything about the other world, reincarnation, teleport or the like, it's already becoming a genre of their own, and everybody should already... more>> used with this genre and all their "requirement"

The Story are pretty much bland, the character are empty and totally has no meaning, it's bad enough for a character to exist just to be a plot device, but this, some character exist just for the sake to make the story full of people, or to add more word for the obviously too short of each chapter, the power are complete nonsense, the relationship are all 1 dimensional, the MC are simply bad, bad design, bad setup, bad execution

his low self esteem and self deprecating nature that keep blaming his "ugly" face although he supposedly really charming noble appearance are annoying, and later on downright insulting, he keep insisting that he is keeping low profile while keep doing something outrageous without any backlash, he's so broken overpowered without reason and without a catch, his habit of nonsensically misunderstanding something that clearly obvious, no goal, no passion, no setback

and what I hate the most, when he describe a girl, he describe it as pretty or beautiful with additional 4 to 5 word, and never picking it up ever again, yet when he describe some dude, he make a paragraph or two full of praise that bordering creepy, again and again and again, yet every time, at the end of the paragraph, there's "just die", "or "just blow up" or "damn riaju" to make it like an excuse that the MC are your cliche riaju hater

did the author think the reader are an idiot or something??, this is simply insulting, i'll let it slide if the MC downright gay, or fujoshi, chasing some ikemen, or what not, but to sell the MC as cliche anti-riaju after giving an entire essay of praising some pretty boys, just by putting "riaju explode!" to finish the line, who the hell the author trying to fool? <<less

It's annoying as hell reading this novelIt goes like this character A B and C in Chapter 1. Chapter 2 POV of B, Chapter 3 POV A and so on. There is no sense on skill magic or whatever it's like I got this skill and I am amazing, kind of writing. The MC is annoying as you don't know if he is just being passive or seriously has no care. The surrounding characters are rather dull.

It has potential. The scenes are fine, what's happening is fine, everything is just FINE. Nothing over fine, though.

But honestly, it must be because I've read too much stories with the same plot and events that it seems to have so much cliches.

Nonetheless, it's bearable. My problem is, why is MC so OP? Granted, that's fine, but it's too much. Plus, rather than how a normal person would act, he was too calm when he died. He didn't even ask for anything else from the god! And that's also a... more>> cliche, since it happens a lot in stories like these.

In other words, because of the MC, the whole thing becomes so predictable. If something happens that I didn't predict, I'd personally be surprised. <<less

This was one of the first isekai novels I had read way back in 2017 and it seemed cool back then but now I realised just how horrible it actually is.

This novel is basically a mess with no redeeming points and is stuffed full of cliches and annoying tropes that just turned me off. Also the MC's personality is blander than sand and the constant shifts in pov doesn't help

Don't waste your time on this

I'm writing this a couple years after reading the story.

Nothing really happens. I read this along with the releases. I noticed one day that the story hadn't been updated for a while, so I cl**ked on the story page to find out that the story was completely translated. The ending was so uninteresting that I didn't realize it was the ending.

I think this is the most white bread boring generic story I ever completed. There was only one interesting character that didn't show up often. Besides that none of the... more>> other characters were interesting or rememberable.

Don't expect any iota of romance in this novel. When I started reading it, there were romance and harem tags, but they're gone now. There's one of those, you saved my life so it belongs to you, kind of characters in this story that becomes the MC's maid. She's totally dumb in love with him, and guess what? Nothing happens. There's literally one thing worse than boring and cliche developments, and that's no developments.

This pretty much the entire story in a nutshell:

A new scenario that had little to no buildup has been thrust into the MC's face, none of the other characters con do anything, MC arrives right in the nick of time and saves everyone, everyone thinks he's adorable, he thinks he's ugly, no character devilment happens. <<less

The writing is filled with colloquial Japanese culture, and lingual word and symbol play that translates very poorly to those who aren't fluent in Japanese language and culture. Perhaps in Japan this may be a good novel, but for the english audience it doesn't translate well at all.

The author also jumps from perspective to perspective, often with no warning, and covers the same events over and over with little-to-nothing added to the story with it. The novel could and should be substantially condenced, and then fattened up with proper depth,... more>> development and description.

And the beginning of the novel is just a shameful mess. <<less

The fact that the MC is completely oblivious of his own image and the way it is reflected in the people around him plus the fact that mediocre characters can push him around and scare him irks me and makes me question his intelligence.

All in all kind of annoying.

The fine example of mediocre literature.

The premise and backstory is slightly interesting with chance of being good and emotional. But the author just seems to throw it all to garbage and instead make a template-generic-all-quality-you-hate-from-MC kind of story.

Too many wish fulfillment plot armor, OP power from start, rich highest nobility parent, handsome.

... more>> If you like reading story about the random mumbling of a life value from a japanese dimwit, then this is the story for you.

No character development, no clear aim of story, insta-op-MC.

If you still read it, just like what Silveus said, it's mediocre yet you still read it, the junk food of novel. <<less

It's fine if a story's background, MC, setting and all are unrealistically written like in this LN and I can't suspend disbelief, but it's not fine when the story isn't good enough to compensate.

The MC's background is unrealistically tragic and dramatic, and his new life is written just as poorly. This one big cliche of a story never produces anything original, and frankly what does the author take us for? Idiots that'll read any copy pasted text and give it a five star? It's insulting to readers everywhere that he... more>> wrote this LN and decided it's good enough for readers. <<less

How ever repeating the same part of the story with multiple POVs is really annoying and the progress is also slow.

Well the story itself isn't bad, but the main character is essentially the most typical japanese MC. This sort of ruins a huge part of the story because you can pretty much predict what's going to happen next

So far, it's a good series, and the story is lighthearted with likeable characters. But nothing is happening. The chapters are very short and there are multiple chapters that just repeat what has already happened, except in a different POV, which is fine, but not if it's basically every other chapter. The characters have been in the same conversation for like 5 chapters now...

It's amazing how many reviewers don't like that the MC is OP when one of the tags clearly states OP. Kinda sad to see a story that, while not spectacular at least was fun had so many people badmouthing it just cause of that.

Hito reviewed it well, you should read that review too.

Kid was practically abused by his Mom into thinking he's not handsome, how would one get over that when no one actually says it to him when reincarnated. He's still a little kid in this new world, he... more>> hasn't really gotten a chance to get over that way of thinking about himself.

The story was easy to read, made me laugh, and hit the OP craving I had. I liked this story, and I'd like to see more of it, but this was a good ending. <<less

Hello,

About this novel in my opinion. It's funny if you know what tsukkomi is, as tsukkomi is used at least 3 times a chapter. Also it's all in main character head which will get pretty boring later if you read the chapters all at once, but with some breaks it's good.

If you ask me about adventure, well, boring it is. Not like there is none, but it's not my type of troubles that I like to watch the main character have to deal with. The school is longer than... more>> I expected, and events were much more funny when I was reading it as a manga. In later parts it gets better, but I think this kind of plot came to fast.

Will is a sad person who crushes his romance possibilities by having a s*upid misunderstanding about himself... What he need is a bold person wishing to be his lover that will tell him what is attractive about him. But around him there are only always-jealous-while-doing-nothing girls. Well, there will be time for this when he and two others grow up properly, so I have not given up on "romance" tag yet!

I might say it's boring but this Novel has a few settings that I extremally like no matter how many times I read them in any novel and that is my reason for 5* rating. <<less

Note: skip d1-d6 chapters - they are a brief retelling of the initial chapters.

Good enough and easy thing with no claim to depth. Well suited to spend time, but do not expect something outstanding.
