I used to like this one a lot but rereading this years later I realized what a misogynistic pos the author and MC both are. The revenges s**ked and the original fls always end up getting r*ped and victim blamed. All of the characters lacked any depth and all of the arcs are oh sooo repetitive.

Spoiler

The MC pissed me off the most when she stood by and watched an innocent person get r*ped to death (she completely had the ability to stop it from happening) and then had the audacity to defend herself when FL confronted her about it

[collapse]

anyways the author isn't cute at all and this story being written is proof of what kind of person they are.

(sorry for the bad grammar) <<less

I've had enough of her personality. Why are people romanticizing that. Watching an innocent girl r*ped to death (plus so much r*pe), lol and how op she is, like a op sword, and the background characters are not rlly memorable, gets repetitive after a while. Why did she even like feng ci, out of all. No explanation, mindless background characters. Everyone worships or hate the MC. So much more and just UGH.

PS. Honestly this have to be written by an edgy teenager

I really dislike this MC very much. And probably so will you.

*OP character is no problem but an OP character who tr*sh talks like some teenager starving for attention is a problem.

*An op character is no problem when you feel like they use their brains for it, when they don't take on the world's strongest cultivators while only being a beginner cultivator (without leveling cheat from system or secretly learnt arts) and still somehow wins.

*An OP character is no problem when they don't make anyone think they are (cute,... more>> adorable, pretty... etc) just by being there or tr*sh talking.

*I don't even know why the ML fell for her.

I really don't understand people who compare this to quickly wear the face the devil; like they are two worlds apart. They are both op but if you compare them, this MC looks like tr*sh; and also while the romance of this novel only makes you even more disgusted with it (while adding nothing to the character of the mc), in qwfd the romance actually makes you look forward to it and adds deepness to the character.

In fact even in the GXB genre of QT, I won't even put this in my top 5. <<less

Repetitive and cheap use of r*pe. It gets extremely boring watching the MC brute force her way through worlds.

At first it was kind of funny watching her wreck everything with a flick of the wrist, but after 500 chapters of it, it's too much. The amount of casual death and r*pe is ridiculous, but considering how flat and casual the story is in the first place, you slowly grow desensitized to it, which, honestly is horrible.

Read if you're looking for a power fantasy involving wonton destruction and have... more>> time to waste. <<less

One of the most annoying FL I have ever seen, who uses the exact same way to resolve every single problem: brute force. And while that can be fun for a while, it gets really boring when the same tricks are repeated ad nauseam. 0 subtlety and 0 character development. Also the amount of r*pes is just unhealthy, so many r*pes and gang r*pes, all with 0 sympathy for the victims.

I ended up dropping this novel because I couldn't stomach a certain scene ... more>>
Spoiler

FL witnesses a gang r*pe that ends up with the death of the victim (a cannon fodder she had no prior contact with) and necrophilia. She had the means to stop this, by simply opening her mouth (no risk for her) but doesn't do anything. When she is questioned by the original FL she answer:

"Why would I save her? What reason would I have for doing so?

Who was Qin Kui to her? A stranger! So why should she have saved her?"

How am I supposed to root for this kind of Fl? <<less

I’m dropping this novel because of one particular reason. Shi Sheng has no goal in any of her transmigrations. In nearly all of the arcs, it’s just her trying to find Feng Ci, and if she can’t find him, she basically just goes beats everyone up until her life runs out. It’s become too repetitive.

To be honest. I want to give this story a 3.5 rating. Instead of 3. But alas I can't.

So why such an average rating? Well it's because this story starts off really good actually. MC was OP but she was really sly and slick with it and wasn't exposing herself outrightly. Keeping it on the down low.

But later on, she just drops all pretenses and like how the MC gets tired of playing the game of the system. I too got tired of watching her destroy everything.

To those who compared... more>> this to Quickly Wear the Face of The Devils. This novel can't really compare to it. Because Unlike in that novel. The MC in this novel doesn't act like anyone else. Even knowing the backstory and history. We get treated to the same thing every time. She's just herself. And while that is interesting and pretty cool. It kinda gets boring after awhile. But I'm QWFOD it's not, and can be reread endlessly because the MC in that novel is always someone new and with a whole new outlook and whole new backstory. And even though he knows it is all a game. He treats each world like they are real. And doesn't kill people nonsensically.

But the MC in this novel is ruthless. She cares for nothing and no one. While that's part of her charm.

It gets boring after awhile. I hate seeing how she treats any and everyone without regard for life.

Which is part of the mystery of this novel which kind of excites and keeps readers going.

i only wanted to make this review to let everyone know. And to let people know that this isn't QWFOD. They are really different and entirely shouldn't be compared exactly. <<less

What a legendary novel, I can't believe the day where I would outright place a female MC novel as my number 1 would come.

I like The Rebirth of the Malicious Empress with Military Lineage quite a lot as well, it's at least in top 5, but that novel just had some stuff I am not really fond of. Not enough to hinder the reading experience, but still, it haunts me while reading it.

And what exactly is that flaw? Welp, the male lead. The whole concept of female MC novels having the necessity of a guardian angel to look out for the MC has always annoyed me. Can't we just get a novel where the female MC gets to show off without having to rely on her bodyguard?

Sadly, this novel doesn't have an independent MC commanding the 9 skies.... or whatever that idiom was supposed to be. In fact, the MC relies on the MLs A LOT. It makes me self-contradictory, but I love it. Why? It's like that saying where too much of anything is bad or something, except it's the opposite. It turned out real great.

Well, basically after reading this, I learned that it wasn't about the MCs relying on MLs that I was annoyed at. It was just that every time they do it, they have this self-portrayal of weakness and incompetence. And the reason why I like Rebirth of the Malicious Empress, and even Doomed to be Canon Fodder to a certain extent, is because the MCs can handle themselves without having to rely on men. And the reason why I don't like them as much is because they will still end up relying on them anyway, with the author having to have to think of some way to make the MC fall in love with the ML.

Now if we were to backtrack for a bit here, I did say that the MC in this novel still relies on them anyway. But why do I like it then? We that's because the MC doesn't take them seriously, she's only doing it because the System is forcing her to. And the fact that the Male Leads are okay with not having her makes them real likeable.

Now you might've noticed by now that I've been using MLs, plural instead of singular. Well that's because after finishing a plot, she moves on to another one. She doesn't get too attached with the Male Leads, so she's fine with leaving them alone. I appreciate that a lot. Although I kinda am worried about the current arc and how it will turn out. I hope the author can maneuver her way out of it. Oh, and did I mention how cute the author is? Yeah, she's really cute. Don't ask me why, you'll know if you want to.

Kinda a weird part to add this in, but the novel is that kind of novel that jabs on common tropes, and it is a very broad one for that. It's broadness is also the reason why it kept being fresh for so long (and probably for a long time to come, as long as the author doesn't go the route I fear of) as opposed to similar novels like My Disciple Died Yet Again and History's Strongest Senior Brother who abandoned their roots and ended up becoming what they were ridiculing at after their first few arcs.

I like how the MC is OP and I didn't have to read half an arc's worth of stock marketing and cultivating. Author says it outright and she's just brushing it off as something that will be explained in the future, hmmmmm.....

Well, I expect a lot from the novel, and what a happy coincidence to have just randomly cl**ked it in the NU homepage.

Just a warning tho! It can get really grotesque sometimes, and I'm saying that as someone who's read the Rebirth of the Malicious Empress. You can just skim thru it if you want I guess, don't force yourself to read those small parts. They can get really disturbing (well, only that one time really, where it was too realistic, as in it could happen irl). All you need to know is that they happened. It doesn't really change the novel's tone, but it does give the novel more depth, and it makes you not underestimate the author as just what she acts like in the author notes. <<less

Pro:

  • Badass mc
  • Intrigue to know why the MC is badass
  • Realistic on emotionnal level and consequence of choice
  • Good story
  • Original
  • Make me want to read more
  • MC is not a marie sue (don't attract guy for no reason)
  • Nothing happen for no reason
Con

  • I know it is not the fault of the MC, she is in a world where the bad end are hardcore and the heroine was not a good person but the heroine has a to much bad end for what she has done (I don't recomand this novel for weak heart)
  • The system go do this or I will kill you at the tutorial (no one can pass the tutorial if they are not MC or have a plot armor)
  • I hope there will be more smart villain that can compete with the MC in the story

welp, this one hit my bottom line.

it was already a hard to sell me a wuick transmigration story, too much exposition.

while I do like morally grey character but they must never hit my bottomline and the FL had.

... more>> i don't mind the FL being evil, evil characters can be fun! And the FL was fun. But as she jumped to more and more worlds, it felt like the author wanted her to become more and more edgy. Like that anti-sjw era that the internet once had that just birthed many neo-n*zis.

and the author has a pattern. She like to write women antagonists' ends with r*pe. And it's every f*cking time. There was even one innocent one who the FL just watched get r*ped to death. It didn't add anything to the plot. The scene was just there for the author to be edgy.

Ugh, I really hate this novel.

Reasons Why

    • Mary-Sue OP MC
    • No character development
    • SO MUCH r*pe FOR NO REASON! (It's really problematic)
    • Repetitive Arcs
    • No relationship progression between MC and ML

It drags on forever. Lots of r*pe happening to other characters. (As mentioned in the tags.)

Spoiler

MC also watched someone get r*ped without doing anything to stop it. It was a side-character that hadn't done anything bad. I understand the ones that hadn't been in MC's eyes, but the one that mattered was ignored.

[collapse]

About the ML:

Spoiler

MC keeps meeting up with the ML (?) Feng Ci. ML acts trustful/distrustful/shy/hard-to-get depending on the world environment. This one actually makes sense, despite the soul connection.

[collapse]

Got tired of it after seemingly no end to the repetitiveness of each world.

Spoiler

MC keeps destroying the 'world balance' and kills a lot of people. She acts like a haughty unrestrained warlord and disregards nearly all people. Their lives don't matter unless they're worshipping her/praising her. She's like a spoiled child that pushes around people she doesn't like/doesn't meet her standards.

The lack of background to her ending up a trigger-happy crazy person doesn't help. I only know she doesn't like drinking blood, and it has affected her a lot in the vampire chapter.

[collapse]

I don't recommend this to those easily triggered by r*pe. Keep yourself sane by skipping this. There are other better Quick Transmigration stories. <<less

This was my first QT type story and at first, I was really happy w/ it. I read the first three arcs in one sitting and was happily waiting for new chapters. But as I read more arcs, I realized....I didn't like the MC or the fact that there was clearly no character development and honestly very little romance, which has made me drop this.

Honestly... it's not bad. But it's not very good either.

For the most part, the writing is way too simple and basic (altho the translation is amazing!)... more>> and the characters are VERY two dimensional, sometimes even one-dimensional. There's also barely any description, so it feels like I'm reading a story taking place in a blank screen. And the comedy is meh and the romance is barely there - it's a very LONG story and I get that it'll take time but idk, I'm too bored of basically reading the same plot in every new world w/ barely any progress in either the MC or the romance.

The MC has a very mysterious past, which has made her be a very unfeeling and selfish person w/ basically no morals - making her able to kill anyone w/ no regrets or w/ no feelings toward anyone beyond boredom and contempt. And that's fine and all, at the beginning, but she remains the same. Right now, I think it's at Arc 12 and I realized how bored I was of the MC's personality - she brute forces everything so she doesn't have to struggle nor actually plan what she wants to do, and she doesn't even care that much to complete the mission. And the "villains" (aka usually the world's original FL and ML) are so s*upid and basic it feels like the MC is an adult playing a game against little kids and steamrolling over them - I don't feel anything beyond flimsy amus**ent in her winning and idk about you but when I read stories I want to actually care about the MC and her journey and root for her.

Like I get she's OP, but it has to be done right. Maybe her OP-ness wouldn't matter so much if this story were shorter and had fewer arcs, but there's only so much I can read about the same MC brute forcing her way thru the world she transmigrated into and counterattacking while barely romancing the ML if he's present. It would be much more entertaining tbh if we at least had some character development - I'm not asking for her to change completely, but at least maybe she starts caring about other people slowly, making friends and whatnot, and caring about the ML beyond just 'liking him'. But no, she remains the same unfeeling, immoral character until now 300+ chapters in and I'm tired and bored w/ her.

Also... this story isn't for the faint-hearted or those that like their MCs to retain some goodness. I'm of the latter sort, but I can stomach the MC's lack of humanity for some time. But even her disregard of humanity gets boring and honestly stale - if she doesn't care about other people, why am I supposed to her about her and her story?? Her selfishness in the end turns me off, and I really dislike how she disregards everything and is too lazy or unfeeling to even be interested in anything other than her own desires.

However, if you're into MCs like this one and don't care about character development too much, then I guess you'll enjoy this story. The romance tbh is kind of boring as well, I actually enjoyed the FL being the one in control of the relationship tbh, but since she doesn't feel anything beyond "like" for the ML the romance and 'love' btwn them feels hollow and fake. So idk, I wouldn't read this for the romance tbh. <<less

It's very fun to read, imo. XD

I find its plot refreshing because it's like the manga Journey to the Past, except she has to transmigrate in the world of messed up novels. In every transmigration, she has to assume the post of an unfortunate cannon fodder and resolve that cannon fodder's grievances. Fun fact, MC used to be the writer, but due to her selfish desires to create tons of chaotic dramas in her novel, she's punished and forced by a system (?) to do the transmigration. Fortunately, MC is... more>> a very witty and shameless resourceful woman and so she is not very dependent on others and someone not the least bit easy to bully. <<less

Honestly, I don't know if I love or hate this. Of course, I loved the MC, and the ML whenever he appeared.

But I just can't ignore all the mysogynistic crap that happens, especially to any female characters who's not the MC.

Apparently, the only female character who can (or should) be strong without the help of a guy is the MC, and everyone else are just snivelling good for nothings.

What ticked me off the most, though, is how r*pe is justified throughout the series. Like:

Spoiler

Almost every "original FL" ends being r*ped and tortured by some guy (usually the original ML) and because she was horrible to the MC (or a horrible human being in general) she deserves it. As if anyone deserves r*pe. There are tons of other ways for a person to suffer, so why does it always have to be her being r*ped?

Another thing is that because a character is "promiscuous" or "s**tty" she had it coming to her... And all I can say to that... What the f*ck?? Like it's fine that the guys sleep around, but if the girl does, she'll be r*ped eventually? The worst part is that there's an arc where the society is matriachal (as in the head of the clan, empress, etc are female and even those women are sl*t shamed (even if subtly), when in all fairness, if a woman is the equivalent of a man in ancient china, no one should fault her for having multiple concubines. (I might have oversimplified - the setting is basically that powerful female figures with multiple male concubines and such, but then the conclusion of the arc is that a woman shouldn't be given such power or a harem, or something like that... I don't remember for sure but that's the impression I was left with). Whatever.

And all other usual (shojo) Chinese novel things, where if a woman is r*ped, she gets the brunt of the society's hate and they call her the s**tty one, especially if she (god forbid) ends up getting pregnant as a result. Again, what the f*ck??

[collapse]

So, yeah, I don't know where I stand. If this was me a few years back, I would have straight up blacklisted this novel, but I've sort of gotten used to (immune to) this stuff happening in Chinese novels, so at this point I'm able to look past it, hence my indecision about what I feel.

Edit: finished the Proper palace intrigue arc and

Spoiler

Well. Don't think I can read a novel where the ML forces himself on the MC (even if it's just one version among about 50 different versions) and then forces her to marry him (correct me if I'm wrong but she's his twin sister in this arc?! Wtf?!). I was almost happy when she basically killed herself right after this.

I just can't read it anymore. The MC just pisses me off so bad with the way she acts in every arc. It makes no sense for her to sit there and act like she doesn't have any type of sense and go around causing unnecessary trouble with everybody and just being unruly and treating people like they're beneath her. The way she treated the ML in these arcs just completely turned me off (not in a s*xual way lol). Her personality is a -3. I don't get how anyone... more>> can like her. I also don't get why the author wrote her like this because she's just way TOO much. I'm all for my domineering MCs who get stuff done but she just is not it. I tried so hard to push through because I love these type of transmigration series where the ML appears in every arc and the MC has to find hum, but I just can't find it in me to continue this torture. I skipped past this story multiple times and I should have kept it like that. <<less

This is not a story for those who only enjoy fluffy scenarios and disdain anything explicit happening. The author seems to enjoy taking cliches for other genres and twisting it or displaying it in an unsavory way intentionally, whereas if they happened in the stories from which they derived, it would be portrayed as justice or a comeuppance to be more palatable to the reader.

In my opinion this story isn’t the type of story where you should project yourself in. Which is why the other reviews take aim at the... more>> main character because they can’t relate to her and what she does or doesn’t do goes against their personal morals.

Some key points:

  • Shi Sheng (the MC) is broken, as in part of her is flat out broken. Don’t expect a ‘normal’ personality.
  • Shi Sheng views herself as observer inside the stories she’s put into. She has no real attachments, morals isn’t something to be had here.
  • The actions Shi Sheng takes as the arc changes will warp and her priorities change as well.
  • How she interacts with the system and how the system interacts with her will change as well.
  • There’s a deep under plot going on with tiny fragments being exposed in the writing.
  • Spoiler

She will work within the restrictions of the system in the beginning. That changes as the story progresses, she seems to be probing it at some points, then taking advantage of it, to abusing it. She’s in a tug-o-war with it because it’s hinted that she wants to be. And also hinted that she could break everything should she want to.

    [collapse]
Some bad points:

  • I personally feel there isn’t enough information given about the larger plot 600+ chapters in. Definitely not good for impatient people.
  • The author definitely writes in a way to torment the readers which is fine but some arcs take it a bit too far.
Overall I feel it is worth the read but, definitely not something for most. <<less
