I really enjoyed the beginning of this novel. It was very creative, with lots of new and unexpected ideas and events. However it becomes boring after awhile. All the jokes, the main character’s lack of worries, and the pointless harem banter just takes over. It ends up feeling like a child’s game rather than a quest to slay a powerful enemy.

The characters are just too one dimensional. Besides loving the hero they have no other traits. However the beginning is definitely worth a read.

I wasn't expecting much from the novel because of cynical reviews and bad ratings (on other sites) but after reading the novel it pleasantly amazed me that the novel is great for a casual read, but just don't expect much.

Demon lords and heroes, particularly cliche settings with either hero rebirths as a demon because of betrayal or opposite and vice versa. You can expect traits like calm, cunning, mature, sharp, etc in mc's personality. There is no heavy past like backstabbing, revenge, betrayal, an unachievable objective to MC which makes... more>> the plot rather simpler and casual.

World Building is modest and with the knowledge of the MC from the prior life, the author tries to build the world. For example in some countries a dark organization behind the king, some races differentiate against their own for distinct skin colors, god is fake with pontiff being immoral, some secret dungeons for fast leveling, and many more.

Several plot twists in the story make the story interesting and make the reader go only if you enjoyed the previous story. The author drops small details throughout the novel for foreshadowing, so if you use a bit of brain and give a small bit of attention to these details then you shouldn't be surprised by the plot twist.

In many similar types of novels, there isn't given a reason why MC goes under rebirth in the past after he dies but here the author has clearly stated the reason for his rebirths, so if you wanna know stick till the end. <<less

It has a funny and very cute start. At first it's really enjoyable but it got boring since it's filled with bland actions and tons of power creep, MC get praised here and there. Toika (author) tell the story as if the MC getting lots of hardships but seriously MC had it easy.

The protagonist lived for several hundred years and reincarnated on a body of a 12-years-old but he acts and treat himself like a real 12-years-old, his taste for girls are.. He doesn't like older women like Leseti (20-years-old)... more>> and Mycenae (around 100-years-old) a dark elf and 100 is young for an elf, she's basically younger than him but he treats her like an older woman and even calls her 'Aunty'.. But he treat the other younger looking girls more intimately, there's Maetel (same age), Sienna (1-year younger) and a golem who is 197 years old but on a body of a little girl. Yes he's a bit of a f*cked up lolicon.

Also the MC became really unbearable later on. He's too arrogant, he's disgustingly arrogant. He hates it when someone talking high and looking down on others but he himself is looking down on almost everyone.

For instance..
Spoiler

Chapter 132-133, he came to a certain dungeon and he shamelessly told the Winter Queen (owner-of-the-dungeon) that he came to rob everything. But then he suddenly speaks like a king of the world and tell that the Queen to speak with him with honorifics and even called her insolent.????? I'm dead set on giving a 2/5 score and just forcing myself to read for fulfilment but I really can't bear the MC anymore. So I dropped this.

[collapse]

  • The plot-armor and power-creep is endless, Main characters gets power ups too much they'll meet problems and enemies stronger than them TOO OFTEN but as expected no matter what happens even if it's unreasonable power ideas they'll win at the end so they'll jump their levels, talk about convenience. The power concept is ruined completely. The balance is tilted on the side of the main characters.
  • Also there is so much coincidences happening like..
    Spoiler

MC goes to a random dungeon, then the owner of the dungeon turned out to be the former hero who leave his inheritance. Then later on they go to another place and that place coincidentally turned out to be a place where the same former hero leave his another inheritance.

    [collapse]
Should I call it fate? Lol bullsh**.
  • In the story Author said that it's the heroes fate to be involved in so many troublesome matters but Author is abusing it! Thr author is using it as an excuse so the characters experience LOTS of coincidental scenarios where they'll fight strong monsters, they'll get OP items, weapons, they get anything and author call it as FATE. Lmao Basically main character and his team had everything, ALL of them are either EXCEPTIONAL, LUCKY or TALENTED or even if they're not that talended, sooner or later will reveal that they're actually from strong race/bloodline. All the others are normal and all the characters that belongs to mc's team becomes something great, they'll all received the blessing from the author. Author will give them talent and luck and they'll become exceptional too.
Well this isn't really complete tr*sh, I reccomend this novel if you're just bored and want some self-fulfilling adventure.. Then go read. But it's not reccomend if you want to read serious, logical and reasonable novel.

Plot: 2/5

Characters: 1.5/5

Concept: 1/5

Enjoyment: 2.5/5

I'm being generous right now so..

Overall: 2/5 <<less

Pretty cool concept about a demon lord reincarnating as a hero. The party itself is pretty balanced, owing to the fact that the MC realizes that teamwork and battle dynamics are key as opposed to spamming OP magic because your stats are overleveled.

The only thing that bothers me so far in the story is how the Hero's yandere harem get in the way of progress. It alternates between the progress of plot and the harem's civil war for the MC's thick mana string.

Overall I rate this: 1 Soft-boiled Egg out... more>> of 1 Fried Egg <<less

Not that I am looking for something deeper in the genre, but rather I'm not really fond of this type of bland comedy with shallow plot and characters. If comedy is all it has, then it is worse than having nothing because it really makes me want to vomit. I haven't read that much yet, but from what I've seen, I can already guess that most of the characters would be cheerleaders (or so someone would call them) that will only be there to inflate the MC's ego.

I'm fairly certain... more>> that this will be a bad novel considering the author's previous works, but since I haven't read much, I won't rate it, so there's that at least. You can just consider this as a warning, I guess. But who knows, you might like it. I might've liked it a year, or even half a year ago, but now this kind of novel just feels so shallow and worthless to me. <<less

So, I decided to give this a shot, and man... I tell you, never have I read a more profound pile of rubbish.

So-called four heavenly king rebirth as a human with repeatedly stated over and over (Absurd) Mana abilities that no human could ever have again. He becomes a hero too, wow!

  1. This guy can in no way compared to the girl hero, nope she must always be above him and when we raid the same dungeon and get the same exp, she must power up faster than him and get all the gear for there is no gear for mages.
  2. Wait, there's more... MC is the best, no one can better than him, says the girl over and over again. Yet, MC is confused, I am mage, but I cant use proper magic? No, I cant use fireball thunder, no I must use Mana Threads? I must toss sheild like a shield tosser? I must throw knives like I am a thief? This sure is funny, it must be quite humourous to write this because it's funny?
  3. MC has absurd mana, but can't use it to cast devasting spells, no sir, MC must use mana transfer to give mana to partner so she might kick ass. Yeah, this is the MC who I've read in reviews saying he is OP? Right, because being a useless piece of sh*t that runs away, hides behind a woman, gets carried by a woman, is OP?

And with that my review is complete, for those with a brain looking an actual story, with real action, don't waste any of your time reading this rubbish.

story : 4.5/5

characters : 4/5

world-building : 4.5/5

... more>> writing style : 5/5

what to say, it's a toika, you'll get the usual elements, an OP MC, a harem and comedy all the way from start to finish. The characters besides the MC may seems quite 2D (yes, the girls falls easily, the harem is bickering but doesn't outright refuse it) but if you can go past the first 20 chapters and you're intrigued, you should keep going.

the level system was.. Toika-ish, really, the characters get level up and skills as the author wish whenever and wherever.

Toika know really well how to do plot-twist and story management with foreshadowing. Heck, even with the last 3 sentences of the novel, he gave us a massive revelation x'D

the ending was a lot more fulfilling than "stop, friendly fire" to be honest.

tldr : if you want a story with an intelligent MC, a harem, a really well written backstory and all this while laughing, here you go. <<less

Though the start could be considered to be a little slow, this is an amazing novel that definitely lives up to expectations. Considering the current state of Wuxiaworld. Com I would read this novel while it is still up. Having read to the end I must state that it definitely concludes better than you would expect.

It's the konosuba of korean novels.

  • It's kinda funny
  • Absurd dialogues
  • Witty MC with bad personality
  • Twisted romances
  • Harem with heroines that have some screw loose
Dropped Everyone is a Returnee, but I enjoyed this series a bit so I'll give it a modest score of 65 out of 10.

Great start but is a classic autistic OP MC. No emotions, no nothing..... just a MC with a OP harem. I read the novel from the same author (Everyone is a returnee) and that was interesting and this is just a copy of that novel.

So far the early chapters are very well written and I'm excited to see more.

I originally didn't have any expectations when I saw this but seeing it is written by Toika made me change my mind. I have I high expectations for this. He wrote both Infinite Competitive Dungeon Society and Everyone Else is a Returnee. Both of those so far have turned out to be a great read.

There are too few chapters, so I won't be rating it as a of yet.

Overall it started out really well I am just really disappointed that the author Took the harem Route. I really liked the hero especially in the beginning and I kinda wish MC would just stick with her.

Overall this is more of a casual read but still a lot of fun. There are some interesting twists and turns which you get hints for if you pay attention. MC has knowledge of the future and op abilities so it rarely gets really exciting but its fun to read nontheless. Everyone has a... more>> Ton of abilities but they mainly use like 3 to 5 so you wont have to memorize a whole dictionary of skills but this also means everything will be solved by the same abilities and there won't be clever applications most of the time.

I really liked that MC isn't the strongest character of his party. He is irreplaceable because of his knowledge about basically anything but in pure combat power he has to rely on his team mates as much as his own power which you rarely see to that extend.

The whole harem dynamic gets less and less interesting with every additional girl but thats true for pretty much every harem novel I have read so yeah... but at least there are multiple dudes in the party and it isn't just MC and the girls.

The reincarnation gets a proper explanation which is a big plus for me but existence of dungeons/level system/gods isn't explained. This would be fine with me if they hadn't hinted at fighting God multiple times during the novel.

Overall the novel ends quiet fast but it doesnt feel rushed because of all the preparation the group did before the final fight. What happens after the final fight is only briefly glossed over but I think that's fine as well. <<less

A very weak ToyCar novel that is thankfully short but really could have been shorter. I read this over a week and even then I had to practically force myself to start a new chapter the next day. World building is weak and almost non-existent. Characters are just cheerleaders for the main character Artpe. Every chapter is essentially the same with characters exclaiming how great our protagonist is and the narrative also constantly explaining how awesome Mana String and Read All Creation is. Every chapter! The antagonists are practically non-existent... more>> throughout the narrative. When the Second Demon King showed up at the end I was so disappointed. The ending was also rushed to hell but came as expected but it seems that ToyCar forgot about the Mermaids, the Elves, and the Dwarves and what happened to them. Only the humans get an epilogue and it was short and bland. Still, I finished it. I rated it a three but it really lands somewhere between a 2.1-2.9 so I rounded up.

I honestly think the previous life would have been a more interesting read. It's honestly so bland that it inspires scorn. <<less

This novel is absurd and thats because it tries to be. Toika himself (author) said that he is sick of writing according to expectations of readers and this novel is his commitment to that statement.

Otherwise said the characters themselves give his us the perspective of the stereotypes that would be expected before they flip the table!

Not everyone is going to enjoy this novel but specially people that read a lot are going to have fun.

Recommended. This is a parody of the hero/demon king genre and the first third to a half is fun and quite hilarious, I laughed loudly quite often. The story loses steam and charm as it goes on and would have been much better if it was 30-40% shorter.

Translation wise, the translation is quite good, very good compared to web-novel standard, but it obviously didn't go through editing/QC so typos or was/were mistakes are quite common.

Going into more detail on the plat, the latter half becomes more and more serious, and... more>> while it is still light the comedy no longer takes center stage and it story starts to drag on. More and more time is dedicated to detailed battles, and they aren't very good. The battles aren't grounded in anything, they don't really have any stakes and all the heroes have crazy, deus-ex-machina powers so you are just waiting for the nonsense winning move. It is one thing to do this once or twice for laughs, but there are probably more than two dozen of these.

The character interactions is the other draw after the humor and it is quite well done, almost all characters are well done and have a place.

Harem wise, yes, most female characters will fall for the MC, but it is usually justified or at least unsurprising since he is extremely good looking and very competent. Also, while the MC is mentally few hundred years old he is physically a 12-16 year old and the same is true for most of his harem so he is justified in taking things slowly or rebuffing the advances of pre-teens. It doesn't feel like he is a spineless buffon in terror of women and he really isn't. None of that trope. <<less

Edit: I messed up the Rating... Its supposed to be 5 stars.

Attitude:

First Things first, I cant understand, how so many People are dissing the MC for debasing himself. Regarding everything he went through, it should be quite normal!?

... more>> First: He had a Rough childhood amongst brutal-magic-power-packs.

Second: He got robbed of his free will and was forced to kill at the command of the Person he hates.

Third: He got acknowldged as one of the Heavenly Kings, because the Demon King wanted to exploit his Special abilty.

Fourth: In Demon Lands Power is everything. Therefore it is no wonder for him as the weakest of the Four Heavenly Kings to be their punching-bag, since he cant beat him.

Fifth: He got effectively one-shotted by the hero, while inwardly cheering for her to take out his torturer (The Demon King).

His life of multiple centuries as a demon got f*cked up. Pretty badly at that.

To make matters worse, he cant find Peace after death and has to fight the Demon King together with the Hero, who crushed him just before his reincarnation.

Nevermind his magic capabilities, if a swordsman like the hero Comes at him from Point blank, he is toast. He is mostly support, with his earthshattering Mana Manipulation abilities.

(Ok. Since he is a hero he doesnt have to worry About getting taken down by a strayshot, for his physical abilities improved.)

In other news:

The complaints About the Harem.

The Harem in this particular novel isnt even half bad, disregarding the morals.

In the Story, the women emotionally depend on him. Not for his power, s*x skills or Merits.

But because he is a cool guy, if you believe it or not. There are charismatic People out there.

(Brace yourselves for cheesy lines Boys and Girls:)

An unyielding heart, battered but not broken in years of ens*avement. Decent Looks, albeit not particularly described. Mental maturity and Cleverness, a teacher to his companions (He manipulates them mostly for educational purposes, just like all parents do). And last but not least, the urge to f*ck the one up who ruined his life in the first place (Surprise! The Deon King).

Despite all of his circumstances, he isnt malicious, nor cunning or cruel. Resignation is nowhere to be found. He goes with the kill. Together with comrades he never got to know.

All in all it is an Epic tale About a broken man on a journey to free himself, and Maybe, just Maybe, become less broken by lending a Hand to those in hurt.

(That may be the trait of a harem Protagonist, however as the hero Things happen, and it isnt like he is good for the sake of being good. The Harem Protagonist fate was attributed to him by god as well as the Heros fate) <<less

I'll be honest - harems in Toikas story are never the best part. He doesn't really know when to stop and keeps on adding girls and subtracting from the overall greatness of story. 2 or 3 girls I could understand, but he just goes and reduces every girl to a bland steriotype with only personality trait being - MC worship.

Thankfully, most of his other stories, push the harem at the end of the story and I can enjoy them. This one, however, just hits you straight away with it. Honestly... more>> thought it would be my first Toika story I dropped.

That being said, as always, the world is fleshed out and the overarching plot is interesting. It's what drove me to finish this. 3/5 is the best I can give it. <<less

Well, when I started reading this story, firstly I thought it is going to be an interesting. And it was, unlike Chinese Xianxia and othe Xia's, if we exclude some annoying activities of the harem. Like Maetel's addiction to the Artpe, by interventing everytime into his relationship with other women. Even so, the narrative is good until the almost near of the story, at this rate it's some kind of boring, but after it against heats up and continues at same pace until the end.

Spoiler

All of the heroes has a good ending. Artpe and his harem, Silpennon and his wives. But the epilogue seems to have rapid development and should be at least two chapters than only a few paragraphs, I think. Cause it doesn't tell us about what happened to Regina, the Mermaid Queen and Artpe's Cat after 20 years later.
