Very interesting. The history in the begining is slow but when he start to develop his power it becomes really good.

Frankly I recommend reading it after all many people go through the problem of the first chapters after all are bored, even when I started reading it I left it in the cap 10 and then it was a few weeks after I decided to continue and I really appreciate those who comment about the novel after reading more than 100 chap that those who come to call it junk only for its bad start without knowing how it develops after

To me this story is just like the birth of a hero.
As I read along, I imagined that the grimoire is comparable to the holy sword heroes use. Completed - I felt that the ending is kind of underwhelming and anyone can pretty much predict the ending by the last 30+ chapters. Also, there is something I hate in the end,

Spoiler

One of my favorite characters, Aquilo the sea dragon was neglected and only mentioned a little like an afterthought with no proper resolution about the relationship between her and Theodore. Even the debts that Theodore owes her was unpaid.

[collapse]

Its s*upid. I hate it. I resent the author for this.
Spoiler

Even Gluttony that helped Theodore was thrown out like a worthless tr*sh after he reaped all the benefits from it. Book eating magician? Yeah after he ate Gluttony, he got rid of it like a leftover stuck to his teeth. Gluttony was better off not meeting a traitor like him. In other words, change the MC.

[collapse]

Otherwise good story.

I'm not the type of person who can get into long stories, as it only gets redundant the more the story progresses. This novel is no peculiar piece per se and neither was it innovative. Hence it is not outstanding to me right now, but the fist 100 chapters are a fun read, with some kinds of unexpected events. It's a good read if you need something to read every morning in the train or in the bus, which is something I do every day, as I live far away... more>> in the woods. <<less

Balance. This is what is keeping me so interested in this novel right now. It uses tropes, but in a well rounded way. Some might say its slow, but I feel that the slow pace at the start is justified so that the readers can get to know the MC better, and appreciate how subtly he starts changing with the introduction of his new cheat. And just when you think it gets too fast paced for your liking, the author introduces a well thought out nerf that also serves as... more>> a motivation for him to go out and explore the world, experience different countries and cultures. The MC isn't governed by his libido, is rational, and also is not too s*upidly naive. There are foreshadows, and side characters don't become irrelevant after they are introduced.

All in all, I would encourage anyone to give this a good try. I'm still waiting for a new chapter every day. <<less

I have to say, I am pretty impressed with this novel and am anxiously waiting for further updates. Sure it begins kinda slow, but that's for world building. The academy days don't last very long and the MC is definitely on the path to being quite a badass. He was able to fight hard enough to make someone who was 3 circles ahead of him get slightly serious. All in all, a great read.

Lots of action, enjoyable to read and fast paced. The characters are likeable. There are skills and abilities being used unlike japanese novels where skills and abilities are dumbed down and simple. The story has not yet revealed much but thats alright, we are waiting and anticipating where this will lead.

But for me, this novel, it is not up the quality of 5 stars (yet?). There is a good flow, our heros objective is to get more powerful but we dont know where his path lead yet and what Greed... more>> wants.

Translation is good. Easy to understand.

P.S Also unlike japanese novels. This novel has come to an ending. <<less

Mild, author keeps breaking his own rules, like when it was established that summoning didn't work well because the boundaries are closed and the only one who could do that was the MC because he have a "door" inside himself to do that and them he manage to summon a strong being for 5 seconds sacrificing a super rare relic that have the souls of an entire kingdom, and then a few arcs after that one villain summons a literal dragon god for a whole month without any "door" and... more>> to fight it they put some elves to also summon another god, I hate when authors do that, they make a set of rules for the world that he is writing just to go and break them... <<less

Review of the novel "Book Eater" at wuxiaworld. Com. Finished reading it last night. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Ooh what a ride!

It's a very nice action novel. Based on a medieval period with a fantasy setting with Kingdoms, Empires, Knights, monsters, and of course magic, magicians, and even Gods.

It tells the story of a young boy who is from a fallen noble family. He has decided to pursue being a magician to bring his family out of ruin. He joins a magic academy to learn how to become a magician, but... more>> alas nothing goes as planned. He is a brilliant kid, learns and soaks up theoretical knowledge really well, but his mana sensitivity is in the gutters, and he can't even do the simplest of spells! Almost all his professors and peers think of him as useless!

This is his story of overcoming the odds, forging the road ahead, and overcoming adversaries! The story has a nice pace with engaging action sequences. The MC doesn't become OP straight away, though he does get to cheat! The people in power are not all a**holes and actually behave responsibly! The story has good interpersonal relationship development. There's no fluff. Each chapter moves along the story speedily without too much beating around the bush.

The story has harem, but that's not central to the plot. Harem bit is not overdone, it's kinda sweet and fun to read about. Readers of action, fantasy novels shouldn't miss this! <<less

Real Rating 4/5 or 4.5/5 but I am gonna rate it 5 because its average should be higher than what it is. It was an enjoyable read, and I complete less than 10% of the Light Novels that I read so I would definitely say its worth a try.

Overall a good read. There are pros and cons but the novel is definitely worth the time. Personally, I liked the ending where everything is settled. The story and plot are engaging having decent development. I like well-established harem novels and I am disappointed about the harem aspects of this novel. Female leads are really good and would have liked them to have more part to play but they are generally neglected or have very little role to play basically just to progress the story. Only one FL has developed... more>> somewhat decent however it is not at a satisfactory level. If each female lead would have given sufficient part then this would have been a much better read for me especially the elf girl and silver hair girl who only made brief appearances in the novel. Basically, the potential of many side characters and FLs are wasted and the only focus is MC. <<less

Boring.

I read 30 chapters to something, anything, to happen, but nothing that isn't extremely predictable happened.

Not the worst thing out there, if have absolutely nothing else to read, maybe it's something to pass time with.

It was a great book with an amazing plot, everything made sense and what didn't make sense was explained really well in the book. The book was very long to read and did take huge amount of time to finish. From chapter 350 to 380 I was kind of disappointed at some of the events that took place, however the ending made up for it. It was just a great book to read overall. I wasn't really fond of the harem tag but I didn't really mind it after 300... more>> chapters. <<less

This is a typical overpowered and intelligent MC who grows and saves the world.

Also the same unbelievable amount of fortunate encounters and treasures only circling around MC.

The same semi Innocent MC with Harem.

... more>> But there was a lack of surprises as you read continuously. You can can guess that the MC will win it surely.

But the best part about this read is the author is pretty good at keeping the MC and other people's character a good constant throughout the read till end. No dumb person becomes smart overnight. Not bad character becomes a buddha over a single encounter. And best part is every characters' decision is also based on their behaviour and is pretty consistent.

World building gets less explanation at the last part of the series. Initially the world had its own unique god's and demons. But in The later towards the end the gods of our world are mingled without clear explanation.

Overall a good read to pass some time and the author keeps you in his flow. No unnecessary long explanations and monologues. Wordings at the correct length. <<less

Typically, if MC has some special item which leads to his power growth, he will prevent others from finding out. This leads a beginning in which the MC will go about on his own to find a way to get stronger and make the necessary money to do so. This novel is a bit different in that department. MC discloses his item early on. He still keeps it hidden from others after that for the majority of the novel. Asides from this and a conclusive ending, this novel is just... more>> average.

The major problems simply are that the world revolves around MC and the amount of coincidences. It feels like every conflict is simply MC finishing a puzzle to win. In later portions of the novel, the solution is summon something which you can summon now that you have obtained __X__ item. <<less

One of the most satisfying light novels I've ever read. If you're looking for a present harem or romantic element, that doesn't happen till the end, but its satisfying anyway. The author knows how to build an incredible world while including familiar historical figures in unique ways and creating incredible plot twists. The main character never feels invincible or overpowered and there's a clear sense of progression. I was never bored, and never knew what was going to happen next. This is how an adventure series should be, and it... more>> ends on a sobering yet hopeful note. Please ignore the negative reviews, they didn't finish it like I did. <<less

Great novel with sad ending. Whats more to say here MC has power that not everyone will use the same way as him cause not everyone will just accumulate knowledge as him. Female characters are quite annoying thats truth but its way better compared to cliche harems from other novels. MC showing power for "no reason" of course hes human not some emotionless bastard like certain shadow controling korean MC.

I just want to say this novel is interesting that must be read very lucky to find this novel. Unlike most of the novels that I've read, every chapter that I read is very interesting, makes me curious about the continuation of the story. I don't regret reading this, what is you think the interesting the part of novel. I think the interesting is about the adventure MC not like mostly novel when the MC adventure many people following him and the MC always surrounded by women until... more>> the end. In this novel the MC always invite people what he need if his doesn't need he do not want to invite and it's onlt three or four people for the adventure.

Finally finished it.

I must say it was a satisfying read. But I'm downgrading the rating from 5 to 4. At the latter half of the novel, the story makes a few very unrealistic scenarios. I won't mention them since I know this novel has the 'Fantasy' tag but it still annoys me.

The MC is at least bearable. Likable but not quite there yet.

Spoiler

He was being an indecisive pu*sy for the most part of the story but with each victory he gained a bit of confidence along with fame and power. I just don't find most of his fights satisfying. He has a lot of abilities, so many in fact that I don't think he was pushed to the brink enough to use all of them. He did use most of his abilities on his last battle but I still find it lacking. It would have been preferable to see an MC with few skills but has creativity enough to use it in different ways.

Overall, the story was great. <<less

Well where to start, right first off our MC is more or less Lacking in "Spine" if you know what I mean, he lacks the balls to really Stand out even after he got Stronger or stand up to the Feelings of the others female character.

I really like the Story since I am a fan of the different ways people picture the "Seven Sins" and this one is really nice to read about and ads Spice to the Story where else it would miss some.

The main Story is really Straightforward... more>> but still amusing at some points and at others predictable.

The Side character are not to bad and each fulfills his role in the story and function as teachers in life for him where he is still lacking.

All in all I have to say I really like the overall feeling of the story despite its faults at some point so for now its a 4 Star for me and depending on the further story that might change but looks promising so far that it stays at a solid 4. <<less
