So far, it’s pretty good. One thing I don’t really like is how he doesn’t really have a purpose after reincarnation. If you like reading about daily life with a little bit of unusualness, then this is the right novel for you. A unique thing about the MC is that he keeps in contact with people he knew in his previous life. ((Obviously, these people have power, higher-up in class types of people))

Update:
I realized a lot of people don't really like this novel but I personally think... more>> it's a good break from all the other novels. I feel this one is more like taking a vacation while the others are the opposite. It's nice to read something where the MC doesn't struggle to accomplish his goal and is strong from the start. The MC has strength, money, power, connections, and it makes me excited when I think about how he can do anything with his life. I'm just enjoying the way he's flaunting and doing what he wants to do. You really don't get to see that in other novels, where the whole novel is spent on explaining how the MC is going to get powerful and then ends it when he's at the endpoint.

Personally, I like to enjoy the MC using that authority that he/she spent the whole time gaining. <<less

This was interesting at first but then other people started showing up and MCs power was always just almost enough. He didn't do anything to level up but was always barely able to defeat his opponents and it feels like my gauge of his strength is constantly wrong. And I don't really mind the MC having romance but I would rather he not hook up with the teacher that watched him grow up as a kid and is still a good 12 years older than him at least. That just... more>> kind of makes me want to stop reading. <<less

Currently nobody is translating the novel which sucks because I really like it. Is the first Chinese novel I've read so its quite different compared to what I am used to but the action scenes were quite good, the character building was predictable but still fun. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is because the translation quality is the greatest. But overall good novel.

He's a nice guy.

But! The way the author potray him as nice is too annoying to me.

He just have to save every girl he has connection to. I mean, damn boy, just do the part and get over it, man.

... more>> 1. He takes care of the grandchild of his friend very seriously and spoiled her so she had to misunderstood his intent. Like seriously, there's more way you can care for that girl but the way MC does is just.. Annoys me.

2. The teacher's lil sister, like, man could you just not meddle with her life?she's your potential wife's sister.

I'm okay if this is a harem (obviously I'd skip this novel) but there's no harem tag, so I give it a try. Turns out, this MC behavior is just.. Annoying.

Like, he would just help any girl anywhere, even if you happen to met once. Every guy is just jelly because their fav girl is favouring the MC. Like wth? Just make a line between the girl, man. So she knows her place and not being like a controlling gf already.

F this kind of MC.

But I can't deny, he's a good man. Very loyal to his comrade.

But I wouldn't give my number to a one-time-meet person so she can get me pretend to be her bf and be in sh*t aftermath. Or just allow a girl who you aren't that close to, led you like hers. Its funny when the MC was very negligent in other aspect of life, but not the girls. Every girl mentioned in this novel is his business.

I'm pissed off while writing this, so I'm going on other novel for an MC who don't bu*t in other girls business.

The story was like, fast paced till you somehow lost track and lost? Idk. It's nothing interesting much. <<less

it is romantic novel. Eventhough some part novel had repetition MC saving damsels in distress, MC lover only faithful to one lover until ch 234. Good part of this novel u gonna see how good MC bringing romance to his lover and have some action.

MC OP but not domineering or showoff his ability. He really care his lover feeling and build relationship step by step realistic.

i highly recomend this novel if u search good, continous, dramatic romance.

The premise of this story could have been somewhat interesting, but both the writing and the translating leaves you feeling it isn't worth your time. You realize very early on that it's one of those novels where there's not much description in anything that happens. Every sentence is pretty bland. While that's not TOO terrible, that added on to the fact that most of the novel is machine translated by the website Martial Dao makes it extremely hard to suffer through. Martial Dao does an absolutely horrible job of machine... more>> translating and then editing this novel. It honestly looks as if no effort was put into editing. This amateurish TL job plus the lack of detail in the story itself makes this novel overall a drag. <<less

This is very worth the read. I've been waiting for an update for so long and finally I got one! The protagonist/MC of the story is not like the other harem-loving MCs. He sticked to one lover and he really loves her. The romance part of the story doesn't overwhelm the other parts of the story. I think that the story has a good balance.

I love the idea, reincarnation in some jerk loser student and then trying to make things better.
But:
- This is a strange depiction of Japan, probably because the author is Chinese?
- Some reactions are kind of surreal (for instance the female teacher "arc" and their relation don't make sense).
- I don't know if it's the original material or the translation, but it felt kind of dry.
- As someone pointed, the English translation is awkward, to say the least, and I'm not even a native speaker.

But I... more>> applaud the idea:
- no crazy psychopath alpha male as the MC, as we can see in many chinese novels here, but is actually quite likable.
- using modern days is pretty rare. <<less

If you say you've bored from living in the past with strong MCs' then I think this one is good. Even if you're not bored you probably will finish it in one sit :D

So far 53th Chapter
*Well, if it does have something missing, its the main plot :D However I feel like writer is building a big complex plot. You're seeing different characters entering and things happening fast. I've not seen repetition. 5/5 would forget and start reading again so far :DD

I read 88 chapters and I really like this novel!!! It’s an interesting blend: story is happening in Japan, but MC is badass reincarnated kungfu knowing chinese guy (not dense, wimpy or kind like a freaking saint). Imagine normal japanese “slice of life”/”school life” manga/anime stories, but MC in the story is similar to some wuxia/xianxia heroes, add some action, supernatural staff and spice and you get this story. Wish it had longer chapters though.

As of chapter 43, the story is interesting. It is kind of a mature slice-of-life, with some martial arts and underworld themes. I am not sure about the title, but I do like the plot (unique), and the MC. Time-skips happen in intervals of months, so the story progresses a little fast. It almost feels like the author is trying to sped-up the MC’s high school days.

This is a must read if you get tired of those typical copy/paste XianXia story. It's not about cultivation. It reminds me that XianXia actually means immortal heroes.

The characters are decent enough at the moment. That's all I can say for now.

This is a story you must all read, its about a fortunate or unfortunate soul who is stuck endlessly taking over bodies after his previous one dies, but its all completly random and the body has to have specific conditions to take it over (apparently to very complicated to even describe) living his not so perfect life with his sister and his gang that he set up before his previous death 10 years prior.

>>Reviewed at 20 chapters and rated 5 with hopes that more will be translated soon.

The novel was built on interesting premises. A martial art expert from the Song dynasty lives like a Phoenix that can live again in another body after died. This time, he happened to take over the body of a Japanese high schooler who is also a victim of bullying and has a bit complicated family circumstances.

The MC sorts problems out smartly and swiftly, although he’s not ambitious and doesn’t necessarily looking for troubles either; definitely a... more>> unique character. It’s just that... a harem seems like on the horizon...

>>Updated after chapter 65+, rate revised from 5 to 4.

It’s great that this novel finally got discovered and dug out of grave. I’m really, really thankful for the translators that has worked hard to bring it up, I love it still and I’m going to follow its upcoming chapters.

However, the more chapters I read, the more I realize that the narrative is relatively shallow. Aimless MC was okay, and as we’ve seen with Desumachi, slice-of-life genre with harem on the way could also stand out. But Awakening’s got something worse than aimless MC, that is aimless and disconnected plots. Chapters were concise and arranged neatly with hooks to tie them up together, but once a (short) arc ended, another one took its place at almost no intro. Thus, every arc seemed like standalone story. To make it worse, there’s some significant lack of conjunction between scenes. In this situation, five star rating seemed superflous although the novel’s indeed nice and the MC's cool. It’s not an irreversible rating, though. There's possibility that the holes might be smoothed in future chapters. I’ll see how it goes and will do my last rating & review later once the novel ends or when I stopped reading it.

>>updated after reading till finale (c316) by MTL.

I found out that my initial impressions was right, but ended up feeling ambivalent toward this novel. On one hand, it indeed has interesting premises and great MC. On the other hand, the author maintained its disjointed narrative up till its open ending, which I consider quite unsatisfactory. Because of that, I decided to maintain its 4-star rating. However, it is a very cool novel, and a worthy reading material. <<less

It's a story about a man who die, then his body taken by another soul.
The unique is this soul, our MC, not soul that came from another world or universe. This soul try to preserve to search new body.
Recommended if you like reincarnation-martial art theme story.

Weak and pathetic MC dies for trying to catch a thief for some reason. He chased a thief even though it's impossible for him to catch the thief.... Well, after that, another person takes over his body. From what I've understood. The other person is a strong martial artist and was waiting to take over a body. It's not exactly reincarnation, but taking over the body and it has certain conditions for him to take over.

So far, it looks interesting. I like the MC's logic. He's ruthless (but not overkill)... more>> to enemies, but treat well those that deserve it. A standard badass MC I guess. Only 13 chapters when this review is written so I'll need to wait to find out more. Definitely worth waiting and following to read more. <<less

Not too bad but 50+ chapters in and there's still literally no plot and things are getting a bit repetitive.

Interestingly for a chinese novel this one is set in Japan and reads more like a japanese novel than a chinese one.

We start with an MC with a negative personality in a low key nihilistic world. The MC's funny personality is what drew me in to this novel. However....

Spoiler

MC literally dies within the first few chapters and with him the comedy in this series almost ceases to exist. Then some OP martial artist Gary Stu transmigrates into his body, whose personality is quite boring/generic.

[collapse]

So far there's no real plot, MC just goes around rescuing girls from kidnappers and rapists and in an obviously cliche fashion, the girls start to fall for him. The author seems to really love recycling this concept, using it multiple times.

Most of the male characters are either described as hentai doujin protagonists or are jealous of the MC. Author also really loves to use stereotypes like all Japanese men are all h**ny because of the prevalence of p*rn in Japan, hating on people just because girls like a guy and vice versa + many more that I've probably forgotten or overlooked.

There might be possible resentment towards Japanese but not too sure. It was only late in the 40 to 50 chapters where the MC says he dislikes Japanese people and then the author randomly mentions how Japan invaded China. Then in another part a Chinese student is being beat up by Japanese students and being called a chinese pig.

The drama element is weak. There's one part with his sister that was done good and also some rare wholesome moments but besides that the drama is weak and the novel lacks tension.

This series also has a heavy harem vibe because the MC only hangs out and talks to girls (Well it does make sense since most guys in the novel hate the MC and even his old school friends no longer hang out with him)

As for the romance aspect, nothing interesting has happened yet and everything is one sided. The author really loves to bait who the true love interest is but from looking at other reviews it seems to be....
Spoiler

his teacher (which I find ok given his real age and that in real life you don't just necessary end up with the girl you spend the most time with. If you're a re:zero rem fanboy then you probably won't enjoy the romance

[collapse]

If you're looking for a modern day low to moderate action + slice of life series then you might enjoy this. (If the Overpowered boring MC/recycling scenarios/Romance route doesn't put you off) <<less
