When a futuristic scientist is transported into the body of a young man in a fantasy world, his curiosity and desire for power push him to pursue magic. In a world without mercy, Leylin has no qualms about doing anything if it means benefits. He is cold, ruthless and calculating, never forming attachments that could impede his ultimate goal…

Honor? Who needs that… Hmmm… that guy seems too powerful for me to take on now… I better keep a low profile for now.

You want me to help you? What do I get out of it? Nothing? Bye.

Hmm… that guy looks like he might cause me problems in the future. Better kill him before he becomes a problem…

(This novel is a birth of a genre *. One of the first CN to be translated)

Ahh the Nostalgia is strong with this one. I loved everything about this novel. Nowdays people are b*tching about Fang yuan from Reverend insanity but Leylin has special spot in my heart he was my most favourite MC ever and still he is. Fang yuan looks more villian to me. And little do these Reverend insanity followers know that it all started with leylin.

Now back to the novel there is... more>> something very charming about this novel. Each arc is different from the other. You will definitely enjoy this novel unless you are still hung up with the novel you read a week ago and want something like that. Other thing is lots of jap bullsh*t like " I didnt want power but world wants me to have it alas I have no choice" AKA plot armor there is no such thing in this novel everything is earned by MC not the plot handing him on the plate.

And if people are complaining him to be socio path then you must be living in lala wonderland. Leylin is probably the most realistic character I have seen in a novel. You can preach all the bullsh*t like friendship, love, trust but world is survival of the fittest and human beings are selfish at their core. If you do not understand this much then I dont know what to say anymore. Only teenagers or someone who hasnt seen the world enough will think otherwise. Smart people or powerfull people will not say this but I just wanted you to understand. So, do me a favour and go read history rather than fictional works so that you can understand how scary humans really are. You can justify one guy as sociopath but when you look at history which one of them were not sociopath?. Is being selfish sociopathy? Then we all are sociopaths.

Life doesnt work like japanese novel where MC doesnt want anything but alas heavens will have no mercy on him and give him everything a normal person can only dream

Like that harem of super hot girls

like that op power which can break the world.

And yet the motherf*cker will not stop b*tching about how hard it is to lift the finger to use his super op power and thinks how much better off he would be without that super awesome world breaking power.

(I hope u can see how brainless these jap novel are. Completely out of the world) <<less

Genius Scientist dies in an explosion, gets reincarnated into a fantasy setting where only strong rules the world. That's all fine and dandy, but the basic story is like this the main protagonist has invented this A.I chip which also gets reincarnated with him, but this time that chip gets fused with his soul, if that doesn't make any sense basically it means it is not on his body anymore, but inside him in some spiritual place.

-Now, the said "Genius" protagonist just relies way too much on the A.I chip,... more>> I mean he would ask its advice for literally everything. Imagine doraemon and nobita constantly bugging him and asking for advice and doraemon feels like he wants to commit su*cide that's how I feel. Its a wish fulfillment device that MC relies on every hook and turn and that is the final nail in the coffin for me. I barely manged to read 50 chapters until finally dropping it and to think it goes on till the end of the series is just insane. To get the basic jest as for how terrible it is, it goes something like this "A.I give me the probability of learning this really hard spell and then optimize it so that I can learn it, A.I give me the best method to make a stable potion, A.I search the surrounding and give me the information of every plant and tree, A.I tell me how strong the enemy is and give me the best fighting method". That's how tedious and monotonous the story is. <<less

My favorite novel. There is no unresonable luck or misfortune. No s*upid/blind decisions. No OP cheat (AI-chip is only strong when the user uses it correctly) MC isn't useless without it. Nice pacing, great world building (minus the whole universe thing) and great cultivation system. MC has great character no saint but no villain. Doesn't go out of character. No useless relationships.

In short this novel is a masterpiece which really doesn't anoy me with s*upid decisions made for plot purposes. (Which the other chinese novels should really take note of).... more>> This novel also has my favorite protagnist.

ALL HAIL LEYLIN!!!

Also if you like idiot heros this novel is not for you. <<less

Now that this novel is finally completed, I have only one thing to say...

The synopsis is true - the MC is f*cking awesome. The ultimate antihero MC, and he actually cares for himself. Never too suppressed and never too jacked off by the world - and always scheming.

Power scaling is coherent, progress is done well - the world vibrant and characters realistic and prioritizing own benefits, above all.. This has been the best journey and first completed one for Chinese novels, and hell - time to read again from the... more>> beginning. LEYLIIIIIIIN!!!!! <<less

I highly recommend this book, so far for me its quite fun to read although most of the times the MC neglects his family, friends. But there are times he also think about their well beings, but the new worlds the actions will get you hook in no time, I like the ideas where you will see fresh stuffs inserted in the story which will be shown in the spoiler part and I don't know why people keep on yapping about him not inventing stuff well duh he's a scientist... more>> it doesn't mean that if you're a scientist you have to invent stuff most of them do research mostly like what he is doing but he's researching magic to become an immortal (which is the goal of most of the wuxia novels "TO BECOME AN IMMORTAL") and people always yap about him relying with his A.I chip but hey that's what makes him diff to other magus. Look at yun che in ATG, Meng Hao with his mirror in ISSTH, Lin Ming with his Magic Cube in MW who in wuxia doesn't have any cheat like items in their story. So for me I really suggest this novel if you want something new.
Spoiler

in the world of the gods you will see the MC reborn "half of his soul" in a low noble house and he will slowly make his way through to become a god and while he is at it he also makes a pirate crew of course with the help of his cousin, makes his hometown rich and he also finds his own empire in that world then the next world is shown is shadow world he and snake dowager goes to her world to help her, in that world the place is quite modern like our current world.

The novel is great for the first 200 chapters and then peaks in the chapter 300s. After that the only chapters worth reading are from 700 to 800.

In chapters 1-100

Spoiler

The main character reincarnates into the body of a dying and pathetic noble after the MC's actual body was killed in an experiment in his world. He obtains a cheat when his implant (A.I chip) gets absorbed into his soul and he essentially have a super computer in his head to calculate various things. He joins and becomes an acolyte to a Dark Magi academy where brutality and cold calculation is the way of life. In fact, he's cold hearted but not totally. The MC at least cares for people he knows but only aids them in a sufficient fashion.

[collapse]

In chapters 101-200

Spoiler

The MC discovers ancient ruins with some companions from his academy, however fights break out and our MC manages to get on top. But one of his companions that he kills is from a high-ranking family. Our MC is forced to flee from Dark Magi territory and into the Light Magi territory. Along the way he still displays his callousness but from time to time he grants occasional assistance to people more from a fact that he knows them than anything. A Grand War breaks out and our MC ends up fighting on the frontlines. He discovers a way to make himself stronger and he enacts it, sacrificing soldiers from both sides and earning him a massive bounty that both sides dearly wishes to collect. Our MC is forced to run to a faraway land.

[collapse]

In chapters 201-300 The part where opinions diverge.

Spoiler

Our MC evolves into that despicable and cold-hearted monster that the summary describes. He manipulates various people in order to further his own agendas. He cares not one bit about anyone else anymore. Although he acts sentimental sometimes and reminisces about past events fondly, don't be fooled he's outright psychopathic. He gives people hope and make them think that he's helping them, only for him to "harvest" them in the end. He devours the fortune of his own apprentice and kills him. He taught his apprentice swordsmanship and raised him to become a hero and in the end he killed his apprentice in order to steal the special destiny that his apprentice held.

[collapse]

The story gets stale from here. Because that apprentice of his was a good person, he fought for his beliefs and helped people for no benefit of his own. The rest of the story is focused on the MC doing bad things to bad people. Wronging people who deserve it can't compete with wronging people who don't deserve it.

one last thing. Our MC is only OP because of his A.I chip and he really isn't a scientist. Because

Spoiler

He lets his A.I chip do all the work, if he needs a new spell he just asks the A.I chip to do it. He can even ask the A.I chip to control his own body to fight his battles, it's called "combat assist mode" or some sh*t like that.

He can optimize his own spells by literally putting the A.I chip on it and even the ultra-rare potions he made was made through asking the A.I chip to gather data and supply it for him.

[collapse]

I mean seriously don't be surprised if this is really the story about how Skynet (A.I Chip) came to rule the galaxy. Our MC literally couldn't take a sh*t without asking the AI chip for a "optimized simulation" <<less

I am writing this review because a lot of people are claiming that "he is not a scientist" or "he relies on his AI chip too much". While he might be relying on his AI chip too much, you certainly cannot claim that he is "not a scientist" because you guys obviously doesn't know how scientists work.

And how do I know how scientists work? Because I am training to be one, and is working under one. So let me make something clear first, ALMOST EVERY chemist, physicist and biologist uses... more>> computers these days. So does applied mathematicians (duh). This is because modern science has reached a point where just thinking with our brain is not satisfactory enough. Computer simulations for biological, physical and economical models can reach billions of data points at a time. You couldn't complete processing just one simulation in an entire lifetime for some models, if it is done manually.

We scientists aren't "special, witty and smart" people who does things because we have far superior intelligence or superhuman capabilities. We do it because we work hard, learn and employ every tool at our disposal, while trying to find new ones. We are also smart, but needn't be extremely so. And we use computers and simulations for everything now a days.

We employ the scientific method, which I am not going to explain here because that would take too long. I will just tell you that it requires you to do a lot of repeated experiments under controlled conditions with varying samples. Find something you want to know about, make a guess as to why it might be so, and then formulate experiments to prove/disprove your guess. Repeat this, till you get your best guess and conclude stuff from the process. Note that in the novel, this is nowhere mentioned. So, I am not claiming that he is doing all of these, and are a few occasions where he doesn't. But you cannot discredit him from being a scientist from the stuff that's presented in the book. It is not realistic to expect them to describe all experiments in detail, because a single experiment that takes a day needs a 6-10 page report. Now check how long a 100 year experimental report would be. You would also need to build a theory of magic and that would take a whole lifespan, probably. So, "He immersed himself in his laboratory for a hundred years doing experiments" is the best you're gonna get.

Now, if you want to consider it from a realistic perspective, any spell models must be insanely complex programs which can be applied into reality through magic. Ie, spell models are instructions to manipulate magical energy and particle in very, very complicated ways to do things. Basically, "magical programming". And in all likelihood, the complexity increases drastically with the level. Therefore, the simulations complexity goes up exponentially. This means that it is impossible to come up with spells unless you have a very long time (like most magi) or with computerized simulation (Like Leylin's AI). Arguably, it would also be easier for high ranking magi to come up with low ranking spells although that would be useless for them.

Anyways, stop b*tching about Leylin not being a scientist when y'all doesn't know sh*t about scientists.

Feel free to ask me about stuff that I've written about. <<less

The only thing I've got to say for this read is one word: Amazing.

It is what I have been looking for, for years a story where the MC is the very embodiment of nietzsche's ubermensch. Not tied down by mass morality, not tied down by useless sentiments, and ever in pursuit of absolute power. Someone who is willing by ever means to reach true immortality.

The biggest problems people have are related to the AI chip, and the cold blooded behavior of the MC. For the first everyone screams about how... more>> he isn't a scientist and how he is so reliant on the AI chip.

The answer comes in 3 points, 1. Most people only read the first 100 chapters and presume he'll be over-reliant on it forever. Nope as time goes on he relies more on himself.

2. He only uses it because he was small and weak with no path in the beginning. He needed to work fast to protect himself early on and he needed to explore everything for a boost of power. But when he starts on his true path he doesn't need to explore other stuff as much and focuses on warlock related stuff.

3. He has a supercomputer in his mind but after all a computer is a computer it can't do anything without intention. He does big picture thinking and decides what he will use the computer for. That's where we see his intelligence and decision making.

Science is a process it doesn't take a genius to do science. Science also requires other to invalidate your work. The essence of science is elimination of falsehood because truth is so uncertain. He's in a magus world and there is no science so of course he doesn't use science. No he is a mage and so he uses magic it's a given that he isn't a scientist. A scientist shares knowledge and his knowledge is his edge against other magi, why would he give up his advantage.

Lastly, Leylin is coldblooded that is a given before you read you need to understand that. He will not fight to protect someone if his life is on the line. But that doesn't mean he won't save you if he is able, Leylin can feel love and hate like any normal person. He isn't a hero he is someone who is trying to survive and he isn't above using evil for his own goals. After all you need to understand there is no point to morality in a law of the jungle world. The only thing that governs is power that means no complaints from the readers or the characters. No naivete when you start reading and no one is safe including yourself. <<less

I started this novel with decent hopes thinking it would be like other parody like novels but with a darker tilt. I was wrong, this novel is absolutely Brainless, the MC isn't smart he is robotic, he has no real emotions only basic human desires.

  1. Get stronger
  2. Eat food
  3. Have sex
  4. Get richer
That is it, from what I can see the MC does nothing that doesn't conform to one of those 4 things. What is worse is he has no character AT ALL, he is just a walking shell, no humor or personality, I... more>> dropped this novel after the MC naught a s*ave girl just for s*x, and the novel made it seem like she was ok with that! I don't no if that is super twisted or just bad writing but I had enough. <<less

I really like this novel its different. He is not overpowered where he can kill someone above his rank. I like the way he handles the situation.

The MC is realistic, cunning and avoids killing powerful families, unlike a lot of typical xianxia (one man army bullsh*t wont die because of plot armor where the protagonist is underestimated and always wins 1vs20 and the enemy has a higher level). He will take a risk, fight or kill strong enemies if he gains something worth the effort or they have the same... more>> power level.

Also when it comes to romance it´s not like he is lecher or rapist (atg), rather he is having s*x for pleasure, but not establishing any sort of relationships. And lets be real here not everyone who has a beautiful face perfect body is a virg*n. Talking to the guy whos talking about harem you should read atg harem (beautiful girls, all virg*ns, white smooth skin, big b**bs, powerful, all of them falls inlove with MC and virg*ns) which is impossible to find (T_T) ? ?. Maybe you should watch fairytail too. <<less

This is an extremely good novel to read if you're a fan of closer-to-western style.

The author does a good job of keeping the main character from ever becoming too OP (at least as of chapter 331). So far there's always a sense of danger. Also the main character isn't ridiculously lucky like in many other light novels.

The protagonist has slowly and painstakingly gathered strength and each major increase has required real work.

If you ever read the broken empire series by mark lawrence, you'll come to like this novel. The dark and gritty world here is very much the same kind and also medieval set is very alike.

The MC also is anti-hero kind of MC. Although sometime you'll cringe when u read MC logic, this novel overall is very good and not your average xianxia/xuan

This guy is a psychopath, uses everyone and anyone to become immortal. Now I wouldn't have that big of a problem with this but Leylin uses violence and betrayal even when he will get the same or better result. Also, I was never invested in the MC because he has no personality, to begin with. As some other reviewers said this is personally not my taste but if you like evil MCs then this might be for you, just wasn't my cup of tea. Just overly too manipulating and no... more>> compassion at all. Read and decide for yourself don't let my review stop you if you genuinely think you will enjoy this. <<less

One of my favorite novels I have ever read. Yes comes to no surprise

The story starts up slowly and felt similar to some others. But soon picked up its pace and was a amazing read..

I red some other reviews left by others and saw some people talking about how evil and so on the main character is.. So what? That's the point and I absolutely love it. I have yet to find a novel similar to this.

Would say that this is a must read

Whoo! This novel was an amazing ride.

To begin with, you need to know that this is *not* a standard story. There's very little comedy, a complete lack of romance, zero martial arts and a complete lack of morality. This is a story purely about the pursuit of power, at any cost.

The protagonist here has the idea of choosing the most efficient path to power, which involves focusing completely on the overwhelming firepower of magic, abandoning all kinds of martial arts, and taking the most heretical approaches to maximizing his strength.... more>> This frequently involves him betraying his allies and killing everyone involved with him. He has no thoughts of loyalty or gratitude, and all relationships between characters are purely based on the benefits that he can receive through them.

All of this may sound cold and heartless - it is - but this is the exact reason why I love this series. There are no wishy-washy scenes of heroes out for revenge for slights or fighting to earn face. In fact, the hero is noticeably very careful around those who are stronger than him, letting all kinds of perceived insults pass bounce off him with his thick skin. Even when he later becomes stronger than these enemies, he often ends up pulling them into a deal, maximizing his benefits, rather than just kill them outright for revenge. Where else could you ever find such a beautifully cold and calculating hero in any xianxia?

This brings us to the main plot point of this story - the protagonist's origin and his system. The protagonist has ended up transmigrating into a world of magic from a world of science, in the process pulling along an AI chip that is implanted into his soul. This one factor is uniquely the core of all his subsequent actions and decisions. The AI chip gives the protagonist a calculating and appraisal ability far beyond anyone else at his current level, allowing him to rapidly learn magic and analyse situations, allowing him to develop the most efficient paths to progress in power. In addition, since he is not from a standard cliche world, he has no issues with fighting for face or rights, willing to act as a completely unknown underdog until he suddenly bursts out with overwhelming strength. In addition, he never really build up any lasting relationship with anyone in this new world, allowing him to treat everybody he meets as a disposable pawn in his schemes.

However, there are two very notable criticisms of this story related to these points. The first is that the protagonist was supposed to be a scientist in his original technological world, yet after transmigrating he uses none of the knowledge that he had from his original world. He completely follows the pre-defined path to power in the new world, without trying to apply his pre-existing knowledge to gain any knowledge or advantage.

The second criticism is the over-powered nature of the AI chip and his over-reliance on the chip. Any time the protagonist interacts with his AI chip, he always just gives it broad commands, like "Scan this material" or "Simulate this scenario", and the AI chip auto-magically understands exactly what is required and produces the exact output he requires. In no situation does the protagonist ever have to actually think about the objects he's working on, as all of the work is offloaded onto the AI chip, and none of the results ever show any work from him.

However, while we do not see the protagonists' ability to analyse data, we do see that all the rest of his schemes come from his own mind, and there are schemes a-plenty. The entire story is a sequence of one betrayal after another right up to the very end. While the AI chip is used only for processing raw data, the hero Leylin is still the one who has to deal with all of the social interactions and manage the various plots he cooks up. This is where the personality of the protagonist really shines - in his ability to always focus on the results, and never get distracted by romances, alliances or borrowed power.

In addition, people often complain about how over-powered the AI chip is, but to tell the truth, the author has severely cut down on the raw processing power of this tool throughout the story. The AI chip is mostly used for two purposes - analyzing magic systems, or simulating the results of magical experiments. Even then, the author deliberately under-powers the AI chip, only allowing it to analyze part of a system or get partial experimental results, thereby forcing the protagonist to take a much longer time than should be necessary to obtain any of the information that he wants. While this has been deliberately down to slow down and pace the story, or else the story would progress far too fast.

Apart from the system, the author is notorious for having a terrible naming sense when it comes to western names. As long as he sticks to mythological names, all is good, but when it comes to humans or demons, the author often starts using western nicknames like "Terry" or "Jamie" for super-powerful entities. Of particular note is the ridiculous name "Chester Potter" for a scorpion demi-god near the end of the story.

For characterization, the author does a great job of coming up with several unique and noteworthy characters. Almost every character has their own unique motivations, and no two people ever react the same way to an event. Each person has their own history, sense of morality, and desire for power. We see women that truly care for the hero, women who want to bed him for the benefits and his power, women who don't give a crap what the hero does, and women who are severely antagonistic against him. Similarly, we see men who strive for justice, ones who lust for power, ones who want an easy life, or ones who have been used by the hero.

The overall plot of the story is gripping, and there's never a dull moment. In fact, at some moments, the plot even tends to go a little too fast. Of course, the plot isn't able to maintain its quality all the way, one of the most notable ones being an arc near the end of the story in the Shadow World, where we see new characters with zero plot development suddenly obtaining s*upid powers for no actual plot development, with a ton of horrible references to the X-men.

One of the greatest points of this story is the lack of any focus on martial arts. There are no lengthy battles that span several chapters, no over-detailed descriptions of every punch and kick, no abstract references to daoist philosophies of the nature of the world in the middle of a fight. While these can be fun in their own way, this web-novel is a refreshing break from these cliches, going back to straightforward fights between people defeating each other with a few magical attacks. Battles are now tactical fights, where the one with the bigger spell or the more effective spell can win against the one who's unprepared, and the protagonist always makes sure he doesn't get into any battle unless he's completely prepared for it. There are several situations near the beginning where the protagonist finds himself against an enemy that's far stronger than him, and we get to see our hero running away like a little bit*h :D

Overall, the story is good, and the entire plot sticks to a single focus - the unswerving pursuit of power at any cost. <<less

I'm currently up to date with the translated version and I gotta say this book is quite the experience.

There isn't much character development for the MC as he remains a cold-hearted psycho throughout the whole novel but even so I find it almost impossible to predict what would happen. The world presents itself with endless opportunities and thus in this endless universe there are tons of stories and characters. Sadly, other than the MC few other characters actually receive attention and they are simply abandoned.

The story is well thought and... more>> well written and it does not have any plot holes and it presents itself with schemes that span through tens of chapters. I do recommend at least trying it out. I don't think that the issues with the book lay in the MC but rather in the lack of attention towards other characters, so if you can make it past that then it's going to be a good read. <<less

Amazing story. One of the best Chinese web novels I read, and at very least one of those in my Top 5.

I see a lot of people complaining about the MC's personality so I have to reiterate the obvious: This is the story about a villain. You won't read about a hero, or a shameless cultivator, or even a antihero, you will read about a pure 100% villain. If you can't enjoy a story where the villain is the protagonist then don't even try this one.

If you are crossing over... more>> to the Chinese web novel world from the Japanese novels world, don't make this your first novel. It might be too much to go from the typical over-idealistic Japanese MC that just wants to have normal life to a psychopath MC that wants to become a God.

Spoiler

It won't take long before you realize that you are reading a story about a villain. I mean, in one of the first arcs, just after he becomes a Rank 2 Warlock, he orchestrates a big masterplan so he can become a Rank 3, in the very same way many villains in other stories do, using elements such as the power of fate, a little righteous protagonist and his rival, and a great war between entire civilizations.

[collapse]

This novel focus is about cultivation, it is the story about how this guy called Leylin went from a regular mortal to a transcendent being above all others in a world where magic exists and several god-like entities lies in the depths of the multiverse. It has no romance, so be prepared. Although he will have wives (it is a harem story after all), don't expect a beautiful love story or any love story whatsoever. It is in the tags, the protagonist is apathetic.

The lack of romance didn't bother me as I personally hate reading romance in regular xianxia novels because it is never done in a way that I can actually believe that the MC has any feelings for the heroine. It always seems forced for some reason.

Anyway, this is one of the few good novels you can read that aren't over 2000 chapters these days, so give it a chance if you can read a story with this kind of MC. <<less

I have to say this novel is really refreshing. Definitely a novel for adult.

MC is reincarnated into a heartless world where only the strongest survive, literally.

The noble has the right of life and death to those beneath them but on top of the noble you have the Magus, the almighty enlightened beings that pursuit the truth.

... more>> It is a world where every Magus of the same level has to fight amongst themselves to get every inheritance and ressources possible to pursuit their path.

In this world where only the cool headed survive, our MC, Leylin has been reincarnated with his loyal A.I. chip fused into his soul.

MC, Leylin is in no way overpowered, unlike other novel, he does not "jump" level and fight being above him without consequences, only when he has to, he uses every means at his disposition to survive.

He always weights the pros and cons before taking action. He will not slaughter without reason, that being said he won't fight for justice without any profit neither.

Spoiler

But if he has the power and happens to be able to help without consequence when passing by he will. So amongst all the psychopath Magus in this world he's probably one of the best haha.

As for being the scientist part, I really like it - I am a student in biotechnology and most of our current experiments even the simplest task as for counting the cells we have computers taking care of it. So I can totally see if MC comes from a few decades or even a century futuristic world having an A.I assistant.

Little rant in spoiler -
Spoiler

Computer gives us answers we need, but conclusions are done by ourself. Do you ever doubt and question your calculator after typing 1+1 on it ?

Every experiment we do it is done with a machine assisting us I really don't understand people ranting about him using his A.I as an assistant, have you ever been in our labs? And my lab is an uni lab not corporate lab... Even before of thinking submitting any theories it has to come with the support and analysis of computers to prove the results first. Honestly thanks to these review I even had a nightmare of being in a lab without any computing device. It is really like insulting scientists of today of not being one because of using high-tech devices. I really can't support any of you. If I was transmigrated 60 year before with a scientific calculator I can already see people here giving me long face... As for that A.I chip... I would totally love to have one as powerful as the one he has one day hahahaha

[collapse]

As for this world. It is really alive... Every places, every characters, be it men or women interact with our MC and have thought of their own, every character in this world scheme, against MC, other organisations or such following their best interests.

It feels so alive, so colorful. Nothing is stagnant, alliances, friendships, enemies; all of it can change so it is not boring to know about them. It really change a lot from other novel where every team stays the same and never change.

Our MC, Leylin, based on this will make decision some you will agree with, some perhaps not, but as far as I have read he stays true to himself and the only thing he never betray is his own interest.

This is what got me hooked. He is so interesting and so true to himself that I can't help but be amazed by his character. I just keep on reading about what he will do chapters after chapters.

I really thank the translators for translating this novel and letting me discover what an amazing character this MC, Leylin is. Intelligent, hardworking, determined, cunning, apathetic, manipulative and evil everything in the tag fits in his personality!

Honestly, what an exemplary and great Magus our MC, Leylin is for the new world he's been reborn in. <<less

It is a mildly interesting novel. The word building was good in the beginning, however, there is really nothing to drive the story forward. MC is just killing off people and taking their stuff, and that hardly makes for a good story.

Worse Still, This novel has COPIED the story of 'The Wizard World'.

Spoiler

Good Things:

* The MC is a 'realist', doesn't charge in battles like a ret*rd to randomly fight a higher level enemy, so its a change.

* Magi system is interesting.

* World building is mildly interesting.

Not So Good:

* Author seems to be confused as to what kind of MC he is writing. Mostly the MC is downright evil, killing people who have no enmity with him. Other times he will randomly save somebody.

* AI Chip cheat is random, it is seemingly able to do random things, and author keeps adding new capabilities.

* Combat is boring.

Bad things:

* The story is bland, with nothing real that drives the MC forward.

* MC, who is supposedly a street smart realist, will allow his companions to die in a battle, in order to reap the rewards later. Except that that is a s*upid thing to do, in an unknown situation you never know what new trouble you may face, so smart people will try to maintain the strength of their group...

[collapse]

Verdict:

A generally Bland story with a few interesting things, sadly those interesting things are few and not taken to their full potential.

Recommendation:

Read RMJI and Death Sutra instead. These two novels are MUCH better, especially Death Sutra. <<less

I dislike xianxias in general as I am unable to compherend the amount of pricks and rapists as main characters there. The amount of MC that justify killing millions of people due to the fact the somebody killed his mom lol. The MC that pick a fight with every person they do not like because MC is a genius, talented etc. But here is we've got a MC that does not pick a fight with everybody around, just going to his goal and even does not annoy everybody around!!! Morever... more>> his genius trait is actually can be understandable (not because he lived for over 9000 years in the past and was reincarnated and happened to know everything) but because he has, basically, a computer inside his mind. He is not saint that helps everybobdy around and purify evil (of course you cannot expect that from chinese MC) but at least his actions are not cringeworthy.

The cons there is that it is rather slow paced - looking at the amount of chapters it is not that surprising, but overall it is the enjoyable read. But chinese novels has a tendency to become worse with the increasing amount of chapters, so my current rating 5 might change in the future. <<less
