I am at loss on how to describe this one. You could say that this is dark, considering it touch the idea of su*cide and r*pe. One could describe it as “a work that touch the symbolization of abstract being and the mind of human race”. Another would describe it as “Whoa, emo.” But regardless on how people might describe it, Kasumi Reina wa Koko ni Chiru is certainly different from your usual LN.

Kamisu Reina wa Koko ni Chiru consist of two volume, with each chapter consist of several short... more>> stories. All stories has different protagonist, but all revolved around one being called “Kasumi Reina”.

a being that is created from concept of beauty, which ironically drive everyone who saw her to kill themselves

In term of personality, I think Reina is similar to O in hakkomari. Both are detached from the world, aside from one person. (Kazuki to O and the girl from first story to Reina). The synopsis and tag are pretty accurate in this case, so read them first before reading. <<less

After the first one or two chapters, you can already have an idea of who/what Reina really is, thus her "name" is unimportant to how people "die". However by giving her a name, a certain identity, it effortlessly linked the whole story, making this identity the central importance to developing the story. Be it the characters, their thought process, their philosophy (which you might or might not agree with), or their different manners in heading towards their "death" (or "salvation"), there is definitely a lot to muse on.

This novel series... more>> is like Reina herself, you have to personally see and ponder over it to perceive it. It can be either challenging, fun, heavy, or all of that, to read. <<less

It's...I don't know how to say... maybe depressed. It's too heavy. You need a strong heart to read the story. But it's also a good work, on which a lot of things about huymanity are reflected.

Kamisu Reina is an extremely dark and thought provoking mystery series. The first volume is about a loosely connected cast in a normal high school who get lured in by the ghost (?) Reina who then gets them to commit su*cide. Each of the chapters has a protagonist who has a different outlook on life, society and Reina, which keeps the overall series fresh. Each story also usually diverges in different ways, as some stories have unpredictable twist endings which keep you guessing.

The second volume is a prequel that takes... more>> place during the very origins of the event. The setting and format of the story changes dramatically, from an anthology to more of an ensemble cast-type affair. I won't say more to spoil, but the final chapter ties up the story nicely and is a good ending in general. Overall a recommended read. <<less

Another good piece of work by author eiji mikage. It was very interesting to see how characters cope up with their own distress and daily life.

Again I believe (i do so at least) that the author wanted to emphasize about the deeper aspects of human psyche and how vulnerable we all are and thus tried to broaden our horizons through his books. Well I had fun with the kamisu reina series but I was disappointed that the series kind of discontinued after the second volume. Other than this fact I... more>> have no other problems with this novel. <<less
