This is by far the longest Korean novel I've read and it does not disappoint.

At first I thought this is going to be a harem novel but it didn't. I'm a little disappointed for the links that was formed with the MC and the other female characters but I think I get it. That author is sticking with monogamy.

It was a fun ride reading this novel, it was mostly comical for me and I really laughed on MC's eccentricity. I loved the unique gaming theory that the author made and... more>> how it blends well with the story.

When it comes to supporting characters. I could say their average to below average. I think the author didn't give them much life. Author introduces them but almost always just get's dumped and never to be heard again or comes back just a little bit and done. It would've been nice if they were given more shine. Then again that's what happens if you introduce too much characters that you can't give time to all of them. Balanced is best when it comes to that. But some supporting characters did stick to me and it was a laugh to see their development. It would be nice to read some side stories or spin-offs from those characters. It did have some but it's too short or some characters were really just forgotten.

The novel ended well and I'm satisfied with it. Though I have some complains about how some arcs was too short or too long and some was cramped down in the end it was still a good read. FYI I read this twice and it still good. I might read it all over again in the future. <<less

Acceptable early on but it gets worse at each New volume, every single character except for MC have the brain of a 5 year old kid and they get even dumber after volume 20, is at the point that you start losing brain cells the More you read, and pretty often the author makes a problem Too big and have to give ret*rded solutions that makes no sense so the MC can win and continue the history.

1. The mission content is not consistent, such as the Shadow World quest to collect desert warriors and construct a new kingdom of Putlot. There are little specifics about the task.
2. The Swordman split apart, causing confusion over who takes missions. For example, certain tribes of Pale people dig for treasure. Some organizations travel to the sea of knowledge in order to command the marine warriors.
3. Putlot's Treasure, discovered by Pale and Swordman There is no evidence that the mining was a success. Alternatively, how much wealth
4.... more>> Additional character missions are not ongoing. Suddenly arrived and vanished, revealing the outcomes, such as the Arpen Kingdom's Flood Protection Quest
5. Difficult-to-understand abilities include using a sculpture to demolish and transfer stats. Suddenly acquired abilities such as flight or flying in the wind, learnt through the wind 24, summoning sculpting skills. I'm not sure when it came. Weed had to provide if we hadn't already seen where he was going. The sculptures fly or are led through Yurin's paintings. However, after that, you may just summon it with your mana.
6. There are too many extra characters in the introduction or supplemental chapter. Because the book already has a large number of characters During the war, the writer sought to make the combat look larger by dividing it into more than 20 divisions, and had to augment the army commander's address. Some people come and then leave. Some people have been silent for a long time. When I tried to recollect the character, it vanished, but it resurfaced. Characters are more than necessary.
7. Some stuff, such as an invitation to join the army, is hazy and imprecise. I constructed a lengthy story line similar to how Guild Damon lead Embinyu. The chapter is well-organized. But when I die, I have no way of knowing if I was mu*dered by the people of the Haven Kingdom.
The chapter is significant since it introduces the first character. To delete ID, Embinyu Church Leader and harsh punishments However, the author abandoned this persona, and Weed conquered and captured several of the fortifications. However, the author does not say when the Spider-Man guild was in the stronghold. The Joker or the Weed cult have to recapture the stronghold once more. Hey, the fort is here, says the content. When was it photographed?
8. Sculpting talent There is no specific impact on the details following the use of Weed, therefore the utilization is almost endless. Statues of disaster Destruction sculpture to strengthen life sculpture Sculpture of a historical person
9. Weed might be emotional and illogical at times. They will be chastised. Broken sculptures, such as those used in the building of Yellowy Phoenix, will chastise them for no reason. Van Hawk and Tori are frequently struck when swearing. Alternatively, it compensates for a mistake. After all, if you want to curse anything, you can.
10. Strange events, such as during the Guild Hermes War The sword was used by the people of the Arpen Kingdom to vanquish the Lugh Temple. The members of the Guild Hermes who have the ability to become necromaisers. However, a few novels have passed. Barrey has just acquired a sword with which to defeat Balkal. Items exchange hands with no apparent provenance.

It was a lot of fun in volumes 1-15, but after that, the article's allure progressively faded.
The characters have evolved since then. Non-meat hunt There are a lot of extra people focused on the combat, but the battle storyline is still unclear. Characters are thrown in.
The intricate enchantment of characters and quest items has vanished. Weed had to perform a lot of things before battling and cooking in the past. Repair weapons, polish armor, and apply many strategies, but the author is now focused on the size and many views, to the point that he forgets what he wrote in many things. As a result, the book's quality suffers. I suppose I won't be following any further. Because the quality is truly deplorable. <<less

I had finished reading it a long time ago, and as I still had chapters from the epilogue, I waited to finish so I could write this review.
-
1. Story ★★★ - I took 2 ★, for not having so much interaction with the NPC's, the game being augmented reality could have made the world much more "human", even though "Overgeared" is doing well so far in that department, the same came after the LMS, which overshadowed a bit in this area, the LMS battles are fantastic, the ending... more>> I found rushed and therefore "weak", but it was a very good walk XD.
-
2. Character ★★★ - A lot of the characters as I remember, had little or no development, Weed and Seoyoon, the rest of the people just orbited around them, as I said before there was here or there, but it was very little.
-
3. Enjoyment ★★★★★ - As I said in the story part, it was a great walk with a rush ending, which is sad, BUT there were a lot of wonderful moments in the work, so I'll give this discount here XD.
-
4. General ★★★★ - 4 ★ I think it's fair, many things I wrote I'm pulling memory, so if you want to refresh my memory in DM, you're very welcome, and as much as the ending is rushed, it doesn't take away the merit of the walk, so if you have the patience and time (since there are a lot of chaps), go for it! XD

If you read this review thank you very much and may God bless you! <<less

To sum it up with the sentence I find myself thinking 3 or 4 times a chapter "We get it you're greedy, can we please just move on"

The novel has other weak and strong points but this fact alone is getting me to the point I'm prob going to drop this, and I have powered through some pretty average novels in my days.

Let alone read Overgeared at the same time, the flaws are even more obvious. I get this is the prototype and established many of the themes and tropes... more>> used in similar genre novels, but still, I just don't think I can do another 30 volumes of more of the same.

World creation and setting is great but we would have been much better off with the heroine being the lead.

I can't help but wonder if the author cut 90% of the words concerning the fact he is a penny pinching tight ass, the novel might literally only be half as long. Much more entertaining at that. This leaves me skipping through whole paragraphs, cos once a battle happens (author is perfectly capable of making well written adventure/ battles for example) there will always be the inevitable paragraph following it : "in fact Weed was just thinking how much he could sell x for".

How it has so many 5 stars is beyond me, can only assume its the first novel of this genre most of those reviewers have read.

Those of you who find the greed aspect actual "humour" - Maybe then I'd enjoy it more too, but its just repetitive and annoying by the 8th volume.

Shame cos the world building is pretty awesome, just to be wasted on a horrible, inconsistent MC <<less

I don't know why, but I don't like this.

I don't know if it's because the shamelessness of the MC (tho I like people that are true to their desires and goals) or because there's simply no character development. The more the story progresses the more I get tired of reading it. The fights are very epic tho, I mean really epic.

There is quite a bit of cringe stuff in this novel. The protagonist's greedy traits. The s*upidity of some of the side characters. I only found protagonist "smart" or "cunning" compared to the other characters, because the way to make a character smart and cunning is to obviously make everyone else dumber. There is also very little character development. The protagonist has a lot of "a**hole" traits, but a lot of popular novels on here have them so I don't think it will deter most people.

The martial arts group in... more>> the novel are incredibly dumb. Not a single one of them really has a trait other than being skilled in martial arts and s*upidity.

I think the end goal of the game is the protagonist "winning" the game and taking over the company, because apparently that's totally what the creator of a game would do. You know "Read Player One" style. To be fair, I think this came out before "Ready Player One".

That being said. The world building of the game and fights pretty fun, even if the game mechanics seem somewhat unbalanced. It's an okay VRMMO novel that you can turn your brain off and read. I can see why people like it, but I think it's something people can pass on unless you really want to read an VRMMO novel. <<less

To me this is a better version of Overgeard. The writing is still fantastic and the MC doesn't make you want to drop the story every other chapter and in my opinion character growth is more evident. Although admittedly the MC's is never what you could call a good guy. But, playing a game, I don't think his actions are actually all to terrible. It's a fantastic mesh of real world struggles and in game excitement that makes it easy to invest emotionally and relatable to a lot of readers.

I remember this story incredibly fondly. Like some others on this platform, I actually grew up on reading about our resident Scrooge McDuck. Elementary school till adulthood, I've been a fan for so long. I admit there were some arcs I genuinely wished and prayed would be cut shorter because it was really dragging, but over all, I never ever got tired of reading it.

From the book, you can see how very thoughtful the author is. It shows through Weed, it shows through the plot points, it shows through the... more>> character interactions. With such thoughtfulness, it made reading all hundreds of chapters not feel like a chore, because to us, Weed is just like a real person. For me and so many others, he was just like the funny older brother we never had, a close friend, and someone we were so proud to have seen grow and flourish over the years.

Though I didn't really review it, but discarding nostalgia, unlike many other light novels, where sometimes one may feel that's its purposely trying to extend the story and diluting its characters, not for LMS because it genuinely feels like you're seeing a real person grow and flourish, and you want the story to keep on going because you just want to be a part of this person's life until the absolute very end. <<less

This was my second novel, when I first started reading it I was overjoyed, for not knowing anything about other stories, but now that I've read a lot other novels I noticed the terrible continuations in the narrative, because there are a few others way better than it, like RSSG.

A badass MC just trying to make a living. Good story, jokes, translation is decent, loveable side characters. I think some pieces of information from early story became less used but that happens.

I started reading this about two years ago now. It didn't take me too long to catch up as I read it every waking minute I could! I'm currently halfway through the process of my second read through as the chapter releases are a bit slow. But that's my only complaint!

I like reading this novel, my brother doesn't. My brother doesn't mind the world, it's the main character he can't stand; Weed is a selfish human being, who treats others indifferently, and refuses to be "cheated", which means that he'll only buy it if you are earning next to nothing or less by selling it. He puts people into useless, useful, or family categories and is therefore not a very caring person. His life was hard, and he works hard, but he is not a nice person, understandably.

I like the... more>> virtual reality epic hard working setting. I like that he becomes powerful through hard work, flattery, and a twist of luck. I don't require the best moral character, I just like it if it's entertaining. And I'm current so I was entertained up to this point. You decide. <<less

The best VR novel ever!!!

The MC is just so funny, at least his thoughts and actions are actually realistic. Yet when others view them, it completely contrasts to what he is actually thinking, and these situations are the most hilarious.

Like when people think he is doing things out of this kindness of his heart, in actually all he cares about is profit.

... more>> Also the struggling is very amazing to read.

Just can't find much to nit pick about this novel, except that its just really good. Albeit translation a lil' slow, but that's how every reader thinks... <<less

Tight now I’m actually re-reading LMS from the beginning (as I have put it on pause a while back when translation was up to v48 or something). Well the fact that I’m actually re-reading this really long work says something about it too (and no I’m not into reading boring stuff).

The thing that really puts LMS on a high rank for me is that I could still remember many of the characters names even half a year later. And not just the name of MC, but the names of “pets”... more>> as well as various secondary characters. Honestly I am bad at remembering names, so to me it makes this novel special.

If you are looking for something LONG, pretty high quality translation, with quite a few laughs and not too much sleazy romance- I’d give this novel a go. <<less

LMS was my first light novel and will always have a special place in my heart. However, it's not a very good series especially the near gibberish machine translation you'll have to wade through for a large part of the series.

It does a great job at building the world and setting up giant expeditions in a fantasy world, but character development is pretty bare bones as is the plot, MC has to make money. There are a few love interests but they are handled so terribly that its frustrating. Weed... more>> is dense as a sack of potato about romance so his love life never goes anywhere and feels more like story filler for the author.

Another huge minus for this story is just how perfect of a machine Weed is, I can give the insane grinding a pass but come on. Not only is he a secret perfect athlete in real life. Weed is an instant real life sword master that convinces the most famous Korean sword master that he is the only real legitimate swordsmen left in Korea. Weed also convinces the old sword master to not only give up lifelong passion but all 100+ of his dedicated, life long students to all play the video game to "live by the sword" instead of practicing in real life with real combat.

Weed should just start a cult, become the last Korean sword master, become a professional athlete, or psychopathic Businessman for money instead of poop socking a mmorpg hoping for rare drops. Kids this is what happens when you drop out of school and don't learn to think critically. You stay at home and lie to yourself saying you're playing a video game for your family. When you're just doing it to spite a gangster and you ignore your family whom you rarely see or talk to because you're always away playing a video game. <<less

5/5, Best VRRMORPG novel I've read. Well it took years for them to translate but satisfied the outcome.

This is the best VRMMORPG novel I've ever read. Really honest here! Seriously the best of all! Much better than SAO! You can feel the tension and epic this story hold both in reality and virtual. Weed the name of his game character. He won't bow down again to the world. He'll make them bow to him.

A combination of VR and Reality where unlike SAO, the protagonist to this story really make a... more>> difference that surprises the world and made others understandable that determination and conduct utmost importance towards accomplishment. Lining up how 'Greed' is being mostly used in both sides. Like in fantasy novels where in a medieval world the Commoners against the Nobles, here the Norms against the Rich People! Freedom against Tyranny!

Spoiler

Enemy are greedy as pigs they are but tenacious mouthful prideful lions that are no joke when it comes to bountiful riches. They are the Hermes Guild, named after the Olympus messenger deity 'Hermes' that also the god of thieves and bandits. Sworn enemy to Weed the protagonist of the story.

Truthfully some of them including their guild master 'Bard Ray' the strongest and rival to Weed also played a worldwide sensation game before the VR Royal Road that everyone plays known as the 'Continent of Magic'. The kind of game where Weed the same name rocks and shaken the very core of the gaming community. He was an unstoppable existence that defeated legendary creatures, cleared numerous dungeons and overcome insane quests that others hard to accomplishing it. But at the same time made numerous enemies and those enemies reborn in Royal Road as members of the Hermes Guild with also some of them the founders of the guild.

Creating a vast Empire known as the 'Haven Empire' to a kingdom that made their base but also in real life spend fortunes to make their pillars standing and sturdy. Yet even with that Weed by his supporters and people of his newfound kingdom 'Arpen Kingdom' in the Northern Continent (even though he's not all on that) will fight to as well with tricks, strategies and plans against an enemy that deemed in reality a powerful Empire with many high level players.

The feeling of liberty and freedom made all the norm players fight against the Haven Empire for they are seen as a greedy, villainous nation. Old enemies became allies, neutral faction joined hands to fight in the bitter end against a common enemy. And Weed all has to do is to stirred up and enlightened the hearts of people who wants a free world of adventure and fun against the tyranny of the Hermes Guild, the Haven Empire.

[collapse]

Watch as this man from his poorest situation rise up and turn the tide against the world! <<less

I actually don't like VRMMO themed-story anymore, only LMS is an exception. It's my first ever VRMMO read but with the current translation and updating process, there's almost no doubt LMS will be the last of this genre that I will persist reading with. It's simply epic - from the adventures to characters (please don't bring up romance and just think of Weed's fantastic singing as an Orc), yup, epic.... Sometimes repetitive and bland, but it has a unique charm (probably the author's writing style) which never failed to attract... more>> me back whenever I feel like dropping it. Probably this is the reason why it didn't lose much of its reading base, surviving until it reach this point with almost 50 volumes translated. <<less

This is the first VRMMORPG Novel I started reading. At first I read its manhua and then started reading it novel.

The translation has been dropped and picked up by many translators. So while reading this novel you get some uneasy feel due to different styles of different translating group.

Aside from translation other main problem is story is mainly focused around the MC. There is very less character development for side characters. And only thing in MC mind is money money and money.

Romance in this novel is good and it is... more>> not forced. But even during romantic situation MC think things around money.

Even though there is many problems in this novel but it still is one of the best novel that I ever read.

And I highly recommend you to read this novel.

And this novel also contains the epic war and kingdom building which I liked very much. <<less

Honestly, the story isn't really all that good, BUT, and this is very important, this was among the FIRST large scale LNs to exist. Literally any other web or light novel will have drawn from LMS at some point just like how Shakespeare is considered a literary genius. He's not but we venerate him cuz he came first. There's just something about this story that draws you in and makes you root for the underdog who manages to stand up against the obstacles that he has to face.

It gets tedious... more>> to read as you pass volume 20, but I highly recommend that you read this just for the classical value. Past V20, you can stop cuz it just stops doing much. <<less
