This is kinda like your Dragon Ball Z male-protagonist MC level up kind of novels but with a MC lead that has very little personality and just finds himself in situations of life and death battles. Also, MC isn't necessarily good or bad nor are his enemies; This novel is one of those plain kill the opposing side kind of novels.

looks like it will be a good novel to read just for the action and fun. Got plenty of novels out there where the MC has to work overly hard to get to where he gets to anyways with so much drama.

Dominating Sword Immortal has potential to be really good, especially with how the author can create a detailed world and a smart main character. Sadly, it fails on so many parts that it's frustrating and boring to read.

First of all, the novel is very generic. You have the broken engagement, the weak MC, everyone and their aunt are arrogant and obnoxious, family power conflicts, boring lists, tournaments, auction, randomly finding valueable items, everyone want to kill the MC because potential and secret realms. That is literally 141 chapters in a... more>> nutshell, so far there has been NOTHING creative or interesting situation or event.

Secondly, the author creates cheap enemies, they are all the same, arrogant and obnoxious as f*ck. I personally do not remember a single enemy in the entire novel except that one guy that was just beyond arrogant, Zhang Haoran or what ever his name was. There has been no enemy that has depth in this novel, it is literally our smart MC and obnoxious people every 15 chapters.

The skills are forgotten very quickly and they are not interesting at all because the main characters learns them very quickly. It would have been much better if the skills gradually grow, but nope, here is our MC, he learned skill X in 3 months until the 12th layer (was time skipped). The author focuses a lot of time on explaining skills, which I thought was good, but at the end, it was all useless blabber to fill up the chapter. <<less

This is one of the few novels I liked. Reason ? Great story ? Not really.. OP MC? Not exactly...

MC only has himself and his main advantage throughout story is his perception to martial arts (Later explained a god caused his transmigration and somehow he got great soul power which is 10 times normal from beginning which he has supremacy throughout story across all cultivation realms).

But the good thing is technical aspects of sword and cultivation is explained very clearly. Our MC doesn't have Legendary magical artifacts or OP inheritance only his skills in sword are his edge and it is just enough for him to beat others with it. No nonsense face-slapping throughout story even if there is there is no over exaggeration.

However don't read ending.... it was pitiful. Its like author got pissed off and decided to finish off story. It was literally worst ending possible. He doesn't even explain face of last villian.

If you like Desolate Era then you will like this one. Very unique writing style in the beginning but gets generic later on but it doesn't mean bad, it just mean your typical good old xianxia novel. I cant believe I`ve put this great novel off for some time because of the bad reviews. The MC is very likable and the side characters actually grow their own personalities. The setting make you wonder what is more out there in their world and what are the mysteries that the MC have... more>> yet to find out. The only problem I have is the translation quality, you will understand it if you read it, good thing the story is great that makes me read some more. <<less

Hello people who might read this review, wondering if they should check this book out or just read some spoilers, I have somethings to say about this novel.

I liked this novel. It is good, but after the dragon tournament arc thing, it became very boring. It's rarely intresting any more (unlike KOG, love that book) AND the love in this is worse than AOG! (Against the gods if anyones never read that horrible-harem martial arts novel) (that means the romance is pathetic!)

The romance (i think.... i've only read some spoilers and read a bit of the cringy romance) Anyone who's read to like...... at least 150 chapters better know of a girl called Xiu Jin (lol forgot her name). APPARENTLY, AFTER YE CHEN OR WHATEVER HIS NAME WAS, AFTER HE WON THE DRAGON TOURNAMENT ARC THINGY, THEY STARTED TO GO ALL LOVEY DOEVY AND SHIT!! HOW?! I DO NOT KNOW!!

Also some gurl names Mu-something and is apparently beatiful and... (tries remembering) has like a couple of people chasing after her or something and is very strong (for a while at least), she's also a love intrest.....

Gosh, at least this Mu-gurl is better than Xiu Jin ANYDAY! *hurls thinking about their disgusting interactions with Ye Chen)

I'll be honest, this is one of my favorite novels. Yes, it is somehow generic, but it's well paced, the MC is a very calm, nice and intelligent man, the villains aren't too s*upid and it is not a harem but carefully builds up a romance (very slowly though and the girl in question is strong and independent and - thank the heavens! - Also a calm, steady person that doesn't have to provoke everyone she comes across). I know I havent read alot of the story. But what I have read is showing signs of bad and lazy storytelling. New items and concepts are introduced left, right and center. Time is really hard to tell apart in this story as there is no rhyme or reason to his pace of cultivation. It remains stagnant for months to suddenly leap miles ahead in a week.

Almost everything is great in the novel except the romance factor. Its valid for everyone else in the novel but for our MC, its a taboo. So a reader like myself, who is very sensitive towards romance, finds it a frustrating tease instead.

In short, I don't like purely cultivation oriented stories with only one aim; to get stronger... They remind me of the countless shounen Japanese manga stories, I have red and cringed over...

I have red it through LNMTL and there is no substantial progress in that department except for some of his supposed girlfriends, who in fact are there, just for providing cultivation pointers.
