I Reincarnated into an Otome Game as a Villainess With Only Destruction Flags…

Description

My memories of my past life returned when I hit my head on a rock. I am Katarina Claes, the eight-year-old daughter of a Duke. While I was struggling with a high fever, it was decided that I would become a prince’s fiancée. I have now realized that this is the world of an otome game I played in my previous life.

I also realized that I had become the villainous noble girl who got in the way of the protagonist and her capture target… if the protagonist got a good ending, I would be exiled from the country with only the clothes on my back, while in the bad ending, I would be killed by the capture target… where’s my good ending!? Do I only get bad endings!?

I want to overcome all the destruction flags somehow and reach old age!

The truth is, I did not expect that I would get immersed in this novel that I even finished it in one sitting.

ANYWAY... For anyone, who wants a slice of life novel that has a little Rom-Com then you would definitely enjoy this. Don't let the the Shoujo tag blind you. And by the way, the Harem in this Novel doesn't limit to just Boys... The Harem is including everyone... I repeat... EVERYONE... It doesn't even matter if it's a girl, a Middle-aged lady, and EVEN an OLD MAN... I... more>> tell you folks, she's a Harem Queen!!!

ALL HAIL QUEEN BAKARINA!!! <<less

There is something inherently simple and sweet in this story even as the protagonist strives to fight for her life. *Coughs* That's right, this story is nothing less than an epic tale for survival of one girl and her council of advisors (all of which are herself, but that's just a minor detail) against a world that has it in for her. Katarina (or perhaps the more aptly nicknamed Bakarina by fans) is the heart and soul of this series, the one that makes you want to read on and... more>> on to see what she'll pull off next. The charm lies in the fact that she never grasps the true (and beautiful) consequences of her actions as she goes about her life, just being herself (while trying not to die. It's still a *cough* battle *cough* to live and prosper in there.)

There are regular reaction chapters within the story that retell previous chapters from another POV, which can be slightly repetitive but /very/ worth reading to get a sense of the whole picture. The story is at times touching, comedic, and cute, but never loses its charm or the appeal of its protagonist as we watch her grow up and prosper. Despite some of the darker plots at play, I still feel the whole series feels rather light and innocent, probably because we get to see the world from Katarina's eyes. If you're more into manipulative, cunning leads that win through schemes or tricks, then you should try to find the Katarina in the original otome. This one's been taken over by the MC in a completely delightful subversion. A fun read and easy to digest. I finished it in one sitting! :) <<less

The female MC is... well... ignorant. She's supposed to be clumsy and dim to the point of lovable, but with the repeated antics, it becomes increasingly annoying.

This novel has a problem with character development as well, and not just with the MC. The other characters are given very little chapters to change and develop through the female lead and afterwards they don't seem to develop any further. It comes off as unrealistic, as development is something slow. I can forgive a few characters opening up and developing after a few... more>> interactions with the female lead, but it turns questionable when all of the characters go through the same formula. Not to mention, it also becomes a bore. After reading these four volumes, all of their personalities start to blend together. If not for one or two pre-established details about them, I wouldn't be able to tell them apart.

And that's not to mention the romance, which is so shallow. That's the thing with harems, and especially with a harem this big. When everyone is special, no one is really special. Plus, the characters in the harem all get about the same amount of screen time. You don't know who to root for...

Spoiler

I remember rooting for Sophia because, well, she's the MC's friend from the past. But after mentions of it, it's like the novel *mostly* forgets about this detail and she starts blending with the other characters.

Then I started rooting for her fiancé because he was her fiancé and he's the first person she "fixes?" But when I thought back on it, I realized that I had no other reason to ship him with her. Just that he was first... his personality is the same as everyone else's.

And recently when the "romance" really starts to kick in, it's like everyone suddenly just matters less all of a sudden and Jared comes barging through. It's so... forced. Especially with how it was progressing so far, giving everyone the same room to develop. Forced and inconsistent.

[collapse]

TL;DR

Had potential, but increasingly got worse. <<less

At first I gave it a 5, because it is one of the earliest novel within this type of genre and set up. I thought it offered a very interesting plot. I kept up reading it until the fourth volume. However, since around the third volume, I already started to think that it is getting boring. The story moves very very very slow. I know it is supposed to be a slice of life, however it is too much that it got boring, especially when the author is also pushing... more>> it too far for creating the harem where every single character, man or woman, are made to fall in love with the MC. The biggest flaw in this novel is that the author stretching the story too much but without giving a proper character development. Yes. It has zero character development for the MC and very little happened for the other characters as well. The MC was amusing and funny and a little bit silly (which got her bickname bakarina) but now she becomes extremely foolish and annoying. I consider dropping this at the moment. I would better use my time to read other more interesting novels. <<less

To keep it short, this novel, through the sweet and fuzzy interactions between the characters, has as strong a gravitational pull towards the reader to keep reading as it does towards the members of Katarina's Black Hole Harem.

In other words, 10/10.

At the beginning I really loved this novel, but after 4 volumes it's becoming incredibly repetitive. MC meets new person, new person is incredibly intrigued of MC cuz she's so different. New person's joins harem and tries to competes with other harem members to try to win MC's heart.

Oh, and MC is incredibly dense as she doesn't realize she had a harem full of beautiful and talented men and women even tho they announce their love for her every day. The little to no character development also irks me.

Final verdict... more>> is I'd recommend this novel to people, as it is very good at the beginning, but I myself am stopping at the fourth volume. I'll probably mtl this one day to find out who the MC ended up with. But until then, this novel will be on my On Hold list <<less

The story's plot is great. This is for you if you want light reading. It is pretry refreshing to have an MC that doesn't have cheat skill. But, there is no character development for the female MC. Even if there is any, the development is a snail pace. But personally for me, there is none.

What I don't like in this story is the female MC. At first she is funny but her folly is repeated constantly until 4 volumes and it started to piss me off.

I am starting to think... more>> that she doesn't have a single brain cell. She exclude an aura "I never mature." It is okay when she is young, but an 15 y.o girl with behavior like 5 y.o is very disturbing. <<less

I don't know why so many people like this but I got kind of bored reading it. There aren't really any conflicts and it's not really exciting or interesting either.

The heroine also gets dumber and dumber over time even though she's got an advantage of about 10 years ahead of everyone. It just feels to me that the author is trying a little too hard to make the heroine dense and funny. But it isn't very entertaining after 11 chapters of can't be saved level of s*upidity.

The translator does an... more>> incredibly fine job but the plot is a little lacking. Although I might come back to read it again and have a better opinion later. <<less

This is a nice short story of a female MC that gets reincarnated as the duke's daughter, Katarina Claes who'll forever be remembered as Bakarina. In the otome game, Katarina was a villainess who either gets killed (only one route led to this though) or exiled depending on the route taken. So Bakarina sets out to do everything she can to avoid destruction flags or, failing that, aim for the exile ending and prepare for it by leveling up her skills as...*drum roll*...a farmer. Bakarina has none of the goodies... more>> that reincarnated characters often get, she doesn't have the knowledge to re-create her world's technology here, she's not OP, she has no special gifts, all she has is her adorkable good nature... LOL, be they man or woman they never had a chance!

Despite Bakarina's worries, this a Grade A fluffy shoujo. Although I'm not often interested in stories like this, I wound up liking this alot, probably because Bakarina is fun to watch, the story moves along at a nice pace, and the other characters are done well enough and it's fun watching them interact with each other. <<less

One of the stories that I have read that is so Predictable yet hilarious.

Bakarina, the MC, is really lovable in her own way.
1st- is that despite everything has gone favorably for her, she is very oblivious and she acts as if she taking precautions for the bad end yet it really is just childish preparatiobs and that' s why she is so ADORABLE! 2nd- everybody is friendzoned around this story but don't get dissapointed that's what's funny, yet makes you think who is gonna win! *Wink**wink**nudge**nudge*

3rd- she... more>> is the center and cause of her own harem yet she is so dense! She doesn't see that. I mean really SEE that, not think nor feel, first is SEE. Bakarina doesn't show any flirtatious hint to the harem, that's why she is unique PLUS she is very charming despite not giving effort to. The story may seem fast as it skips time per Target Capture, but its really interesting and funny to read. There are some side chapters that tells you how others see bakarina through their lives. Which is helpful and again cute. Overall 6/5
Could've been 7 because I wanted another chapter of her more oblivious days. U know what? Just read it. Really though click on that 1st chapter. Just a sneek peek will do. Coz thats what I did <<less

I only read the first volume and the second volume's first three chapters. as a critic, this book is like After. Or Twilight. A sh*tty piece of work that's super-popular even though the novel itself is sh*tty. but you may be wondering- "Mira, if it's so bad, why'd you give it 5 stars?!!?"

Well. I have news for you.

Spoiler

I adore it. The MC is so st*pid it's funny, not to mention hilariously oblivious. At first, I wanted the MC to end up with the prince that I'm pretty sure was the first ML. but then I realized, why let a whole d*mn harem go to waste? Knock yourself out babe~

[collapse]

the reason why I dropped it after the 'main' 35 chapters, is simple. There was no point. Plotline? Gone. Characters? Still 2d. MC? still st*pid but who cares at this point. Worldbuilding? never happened. Hotel? Trivago.

*laughs* I need to stop making that joke. Anyway~ that's that aaaaaaannnddd... yeah. CUT!

As the first "Otome Game Reincarnated" novel I've read, I have a soft spot for this one. The MC is the typical dense villainess who unknowingly captures the heart of literally every single character, male or female. It's funny to watch her reverse harem grow and the MC's utter cluelessness to it all.

However, despite its charm, I don't think the novel should have continued past volume two or three.
Spoiler

After volume two, the otome game aspect is pretty much finished, so the MC doesn't really have any sort of motivation after the fact. Volume three is just another school festival arc thing (and a kidnapping) , so I'll give it a pass. However, it's clear that the novel has lost any sort of focus after the MC has survived the otome game and the once-funny reverse harem subplot becomes increasingly depressing as you realize the characters that are in love with the MC can never be with her. There's even a horrifically screwed up scene where the MC's fiance's brother tells his fiance that he wants to split up, but they reveal that they're both in love with the MC and decide to stay together anyway. It's so s*upid and contrived.

Basically, the gimmicks get old after a while, especially the denseness of the MC. For example, the MC is kidnapped and the kidnapper is about to sexually assault her, but she thinks he's about to cast some sort of magic on her when others ask her about it. The harem gimmick also loses its entertainment value by volume four, when the MC's step-brother flees because he is (presumably) in love with the MC.

[collapse]

But despite the flaws of volumes three and four, I would still strongly recommend the first two volumes. It's an funny romp as you read the MC's shenanigans and how everyone around her grows to care for her. Just don't expect much after volume two.

I miss reading this novel so much ❤️❤️

My very first novel about 'recarnation in otome world ' and out of all the other novels of same genre that I have read after this one, I seriously can't compare them with this one ❤️

I really wants to know what'll happen to her after realizing Gerald true feelings for her and her marrige and so on....

I hope someone picked it up soon....

This has to be the most amazing and loveable otome game novel that I've ever read in my life!!

I love how the MC is just plain dense to the point where you just find her extremely adorable and funny! Her thought process is gold.

(i stopped at ch. 35 and its side stories cuz I don't like leaving myself with cliff hangers...)

Hilarious and sweet! It's a super harem... and it's hilarious. I honestly wish that there could be more substantial relationship building but that's really not what this story is about. Read it for the laughs. Bakarina is hilarious.

This story is amazing, it got me hooked from the get go. It's actually one of the first otome game reincarnation stories I read.

The main character is incredibly dense in her own cute way and that's one of her main selling point. She didn't take advantage of her rich background or her knowledge of the game at all, with her main focus being avoiding the bad ends while having fun.

There is one CRITICAL flaw with this story, something I really hate. It set the bar waaaaaay too high for other... more>> stories of the same genre so now I can't enjoy those XD. <<less

An unexpectedly well written story, told from the first perspective. The MC is a young girl who was transmigrated into the villain of an otome game. Devising a half-baked plan to get rid of the triggers that would lead to certainty of bad ends, she ends up changing the feelings of everyone around her. And I mean everyone. Full of humor and the tropes associated with a shoujo reverse harem, the MC’s naive and denseness about the feelings of those around her might irritate the reader. But the charm lies... more>> in her interactions with the well developed characters, each give side stories and different point of views to elaborate on their behavior, background and feelings. Despite the foreboding future that is oft reminded, the actual dramatic otome game setting only takes up the final third of the story. Much of the earlier chapters detail the light hearted encounters between the MC and the cast of characters, telling us how her actions and words changed their in-game opinions about her. It is quite nice to read, and side stories are actually influential and important in fortifying each character. Even the minor characters are given some color to add depth to the story’s world.

A satisfying read, and while the conclusion might not be for everyone, it is a sufficient enough an ending for the premise of the story. <<less

a very well written and light hearted novel. The characters are lovable and Katarina's obliviousness definitely steals the show. Her dense but skillful accidental seductions lets her stand on stage without pushing her into all loving saint shoujo protagonist and it's both entertaining and refreshing to see not only the boys fall for her, but the girls too! Even the original main character! If you're looking for a nice, light hearted read for the evening, this is definitely the story you're looking for.

However, as much as I love this story, it's not without faults. The plot's very shallow, and the main star is simply the character's interactions and other character's view points of katarina. Bakarina is also as dumb as a literally rock so whether or not it's endearing is up to you; and if you dislike her then the whole story falls apart.

Since it was originally planned to be at best a 2 volume light novel with side stories, the fact that it went onto 5 volumes and more was unexpected and it shows. Sadly, as the story continues katarina's obliviousness goes from strength to weakness and she slowly gets pushed from one of my favorite characters to utter annoyance. While the setup is brilliant and the start is one of the most enjoyable and hilarious novels I've ever experienced, the characterization splutters to a halt after volume 2 and becomes a headache. I might have enjoyed the rest at 10 or 11, but in my 20's? It's regrettable that such a lovely story became such a mess. <<less

At first, I will rate in 5/5 as well, since I'm new in this isekai/otome reincarnation shit, but as the story progresses, and with the time I already invested in reading earlier chapters, I find the MC as annoying. The story is badly written and I was shocked that stories like this, with repetitive theme and childish nature can be published. One thing I definitely hate in this novel is the shift of point of view but just repeating the earlier scene happened. I really, really liked this story in the beginning. I feel like this story started the whole 'I reincarnated into an otome game villainess' trend, at least for me, and was a very enjoyable example of it. Katarina is a very dense yet oddly captivating character that amasses a huge harem that captures anyone and everyone lol. I really enjoyed the series up until the original end of the series, to chapter 35 where the otome game in the story ends as well. The author continued the series because it... more>> was so popular, which I thought was great cause I wanted Katarina to end up with someone. However, as I kept on reading, Katarina's dense-ness and s*upidity, which I thought was funny at first, just got super annoying. Like, I understand that she reincarnated into the villainess of the game, but obviously things didn't end up like like it but she's still expecting it would. She so easily dismisses everyone's feelings because of this misunderstanding (which you think she would have gotten over after 10+ years and when the original game ALREADY ENDED), but no.

And it makes me so mad in the most recent chapters.
Spoiler

Jared CONFESSES to her. She's surprised, thinking why he doesn't like Maria but her. And even after Jared is constantly making advances at her, she STILL doesn't understand why and dismisses them. At one point, she even forgets he confessed to her. LIKE WHAT?? HOW DENSE CAN YOU ACTUALLY BE?! WHAT DOES JARED NEED TO DO TO GET HIS FEELINGS ACROSS TO YOU? HE ALREADY CONFESSED AND KISSED YOU FOR CRISES SAKE!

[collapse]
My god, it's so frustrating. I knew Katarina was dense, but I feel like there is a limit to these things. Props to the author for trying to keep her personality consistent, but characters grow and I feel like Katarina should as well. The game already ended for crying out loud.

I understand the author is trying to end the story by extending each character's background story. But at this point, I just want it to end and get to the part where Katarina ends up with someone. <<less
