800 years ago, 3000 dimensional gates opened across the entire world. In that moment, it was as if 3000 different colored eyes opened across the world as hordes of monsters swarmed out of these gates like tears.

Some could destroy city walls with one strike; They had bodies the size of a giant and fed on humans

Some latched onto humans, absorbing their bodies’ nutrients and enslaving humans

Some infiltrated the humans’ cities, disguising themselves as normal human beings while feeding upon human blood to sustain themselves.

In a night, the Human race fell to the bottom of the food chain.

The world had turned into a paradise for monsters…

For being halfway interesting, moderately competent in its handling of the characters and premise, and non-repetitive it gets a five. Semi-decent, op protagonist, CN novels are rare, and good ones are even rarer.

I read up to chapter 400 or so and then stopped because QI premium novels are a money suck and I have other things that I'd rather spend that money on... but from what I read it was pretty good, and way better than the 3.5 rating that it seems to have gotten on this site.

Don't let the... more>> bad reviews scare you off if you like slightly silly, action-packed, stories that feel like a cross between yugioh and pokemon, you'll probably like this story.... at least for the first few hundred chapters or so... later chapters can get a little draggy, and when you add that to a paywall I start to get a little more discerning.... <<less

Update: P.S. no Romance/Harem/s*upid rich heads/Big daddy's getting offended....
Such a god novel, the early chs were drag to read as they depended more on coincidence and cliche's instead of the story itself. But after 70+ chs, its been only getting good as the monsters of the MC develop there own personality.

I also felt like the whole novel is more of a slice of life with action in it instead of the kind of novel the synopsis tries to set it up. The MC's cheat is also pretty entertaining as... more>> it has its own personality even though its just an emotionaless AI.

The best part and the worst part of this novel is the scope it is depicting, at present that is 955chs, the MC hasn't even left the training village[his current world], but it is oddly entertaining after the initial f*ckups of the novel. As for side characters, they are not fleshed out[they don't require to be fleshed out] but its good as this novel is more focused on army building on a personal level than some waste drama.

Monster paradise also has a main theme and a primary story that is binding the whole filler arcs together, sometimes the filler arcs will turn to mandatory plot point without even knowing when, so try to skim over only during fight scenes[or massacres].

ALso one of the small joke in this novel is that there were various previous transcenders who came to this world with their own cheat, each being more of a pe*verted as*hole than the other[One being a food blogger/One being a master hacker who loves created a tinder like app to score with chicks].

As for romance, there ain't any... the author seemed to be going on the harem route at the beginning, but he abandoned it soon along with romance altogether after as the Story is more of Pokemon In an Overworld with mu*derous monsters. Which scored a lot of points for me... <<less

So let's start from the beginning. I know the start looks like a broken translated sh*t and in fact even in the later part the description of power levels are so vague that it becomes a headache and makes you a confused ret*rd. But this story isn't about power levels, it's about the fun, the journey and his monsters. I do admit sometimes the stakes becomes too high and the fight becomes an epic struggle with various trump cards (like literal trump cards)

Spoiler

The story is about a boy who gets migrated to a different world (out of choice, not by accident) and he realizes he has a thing called Goldfinger who sometimes gives him monsters as pets the ones he kills and various other random cards (way too OP cards bro) and the story continues on. But soon he realizes that he isn't the only one with Goldfinger and his sister too isn't as simple as she looks

[collapse]

Overall it's fun. It's just that sometimes the translation might seem off. You just need to have patience and continue with the story. If you don't understand any point just move on. You will understand it in later part of the story <<less

I read 460 chapters, an excellent work. The hero develops gradually, learning new skills and receiving new cards. There is no this nonsense about pills and elixirs, drank and became stronger. The author is clearly a man of age and experience of life, therefore his hero looks the same, reasonably chinichnym and reasonable. I am glad that the characters are not cardboard, like the whole world, the description of the places is bright enough, you can imagine the places that the author describes. (Translate. Google)

A good read. With the exception of the MC, character development in this novel is above average for novels of this type. It's also been much less repetitive so far, so it's no big deal slogging through the few repetitive parts.

Translation quality is... interesting. In some places advanced words are used very well and it seems like the TL team has an above-average grasp of english but in other areas there are simple mistakes that keep popping up, as if the TL team was highly educated had never been exposed... more>> to native english speaking environments. It's not a problem, however. The advanced language usage is a huge and appreciated difference from the vast majority of chinese fantasy novels. (Also, I'm fairly certain that 'Protoss' is a mistranslation and what they really mean is 'Archon')

This novel has many of the inevitable failings that chinese fantasy novels characteristically have.... but thankfully less than average.

My conclusion is: Above average for it's genre. <<less

First of all my true rating would be around 3-4 stars only I'd give it a 5 just to balance it out because of some undeserved criticism in reviews and rating.

A lot of people are complaining about the MC's plot armor, sure I kinda agree at some parts only but not always.
Spoiler

at the most the only exaggerated Plot armot for me was when the transcendent monster gave the girl a few minutes to "confess" to MC (this is pushing it a bit although I give a few reasons for it it's still a pretty weak reason) and also the sealing of the Ghastly Clown (it's like it was just there to give the MC a strong monster no point in the story but maybe author just want a trigger for a later plot for the MC seeing the trio transcendent again) other plot armor that others complain about like learning sword technique or the MC's life span are within my acceptable range like MC learning epic grade technique at the early phase isn't really that uncommon, for the life span I threw that out of my mind the when the MC killed monsters with the vampire, I mean he can already increase his life span by killing monsters so curing the MC's illness doesn't really change anything it's like the author realized that there is no point for the MC having limited life span.

[collapse]

MC always get the right cards before at the best of times. Which might look like the author is spoon feeding the MC. Well for me it doesn't really matter because in view of games it actually natural, in an RPG you get a quest item which usually you would use immediately for that particular dungeon or maybe your can just think of it as a puzzle game where you just guess with the MC's available card which is the best combination for the best outcome.

For the relationships or side characters I think there's a need for more development but for the early chapters it's passable for me since the MC is TOO WEAK at the moment, although his summons are powerful but the MC himself is weak, there are a lot of side characters but think about it there's too little chance for more development for side characters unless the MC gets a little bit more stronger, just look in the beginning all the MC can do is get help from those Gold-rankers and if he tries to fight them it would make gold-rankers look to weak and just totally destroy the ranking system, there is no way the MC can help them with anything for the moment. As for the Fatty well he also got his fair share of screen time and his sister she is already slowly improving.

In my honest opinion this is actually an ok read nothing too bad or too good, its just enough, average maybe? So if you start reading just don't give it too much expectations since the more expectation the more the disappointment when you don't like it.

I don't really understand why there is so many bad reviews about this novel. It's not the best there is, but it's still a decent one.

This novel takes elements from other media, the most obvious ones being Monster paradise mobile game (well, title), the Monster hunter games and the Hunter X Hunter manga and add a transmigation in a cultivation world story to that. Even if none of the separates elements are originals, together they makes an original story.

The only problem (apart for the ones all chineses novels have) may... more>> be a lack of explanations about the world. It's not a big problem because 1) the hero don't know a lot about it either, and 2) you can piece together the infos given during the course of the story to understand later. <<less

Wtf is with this novel? Nothing is explained. What is a life wheel? What is gold finger? Who the f*ck is xiao hei or something? Exactly how did he come to this world? What is this world? What exactly are the monsters? How do the cards work? Only some of the system is explained.

This could have been a good novel but the author ruined it by not explaining stuff. Sure I wont want to read a whole bunch of dry information. But I sure as hell wont read something which... more>> give absolutely no info either <<less

Look for Sinai's review. It is on point.

Continuing on from his review, the author also forgets to end the first mission (everything Sinai mentioned pretty much), so he uses some cards afterwards and I guess it is supposed to be assumed that they were from the mission rewards, since it was never officially ended.

I don't mind the novel, but you can only ignore so many plot holes.

The previous owner of his body has a sister and he spends so much time talking about her (even went on a vacation with... more>> her) yet it never explains why he cares about her so much. Since it isn't his actual sister.

Spoiler

On the vacation the sister gets kidnapped and he spends a few chaps looking or her. Then He kills the kidnapper, who happens to be the child of an underworld character who sends transcendent Assassin after him. Who gets blocked by another transcendent from a girl's family he saved.

[collapse]

idk. I don't mind it so much yet but the story is mediocre.

Edit: Look at readfeathersg review and know that it gets even worse.

Spoiler

"I got kidnapped by the strongest criminal organization (in the world) and am sent to a training camp where I literally have ALL things that I need to get stronger. I must escape." -oh cool! I get ten free random cards, one of which just happens to be an OP literal get out of jail card that can fool even transcendents.

[collapse]

I also forgot to mention that the world is a low-intelligence world. Meaning that everyone thinks the MC is a genius because only he sees obvious and says the obvious (at least to me). He says a completely obvious strategic plan that a group of thousands of people, with literally (not figuratively) tens of thousands of years of fighting experience, didn't consider. Then they all exclaimed how he was such a genius. It bothered me. <<less

I started reading it because of such high votes in daily voting system and then 3rd in power ranking. But man was I disappointed. This web novel has serious issues with plot armor and plot holes that it just ridiculous. I normally am an easy going reader and normally ignore such inconsistencies, but here its borderline insanity. Whatever MC wants he gets it by random event within next few pages. Also maybe this is specialty of this Monster World that MC was ported to but everyone there is so DUMB,... more>> don't want to get into details else it will involve spoilers. Also character depth is almost nil with everyone else except MC are simply one dimensional. Last but not the least translation quality is sub par with so many mistakes but that can be overlooked as translators are releasing at such a fast pace. My advise do yourself a favor and stay away from this one or you will also start doubting the ranking on Qidian (like me), thinking that maybe they are rigged as there is no way that such poor quality work can be ranked 3rd. <<less

I like this one, people usually expect for chinese novels (xuanhuan/xianxia) to be "deep" like most ocidental literature, but I like it "shallow", it is easyer to read and fun - I already hack my brain at work, I don't need more complex deep sh*t rolling for tons of pages with no developmentes and rivers of suffering... If u think like me u probably will enjoy this novel.

1- It is fast paced.

2- Not haren.

3- Protagonist is not excessively arrogant.

4- It has down sides? yes, but is still a fun reading.

This story has a rather interesting concept, it combines the seemingly FOTM reincarnation archetype with a card gacha system of sorts seen in most mobile games now as well as some mission type reminiscent of Absolute Choice. I found myself oddly attracted to it the first couple of chapters, however as I read on it became apparent that it suffers from the disease many other novels on this site do. The Extremely poor world building in addition to a lack-luster plot. The Mc/Author (It's hard to track at this point,... more>> it feels like one and the same) lives in a apocalyptic world filled with monsters forcing the humanity to live in strongholds ranked from A to D according to their population or something as it hasn't been explained yet. We get no concept of time/period or location the MC is, no country name so far. Judging by the presence of guns, schools and even completely random 5 star hotels the period should be one close to contemporary. The only information that we have is the name of the stronghold he currently is in, "7d101", no words about the surrounding relief nor administrative system in the stronghold other than some loosely described "hunter's association" and some council which was mentioned once in a single line. We get some half-assed "cultivation" system with a "life wheel" and "life crystals" which can bestow prana to the life wheel and that makes it keep going. We are told people in the world get stronger by absorbing the prana from monsters and become what is known as "Hunters", acording to a certain chapters there are a variety of hunter types but so far we only know of Gourmet hunters (Think Toriko) and... regular hunters killing monsters for money.

The plot makes little to no sense so far, It feels as if all the characters and the world exist solely for the main character (author) with one good thing after another happen in a row without warranting anything.
Spoiler

MC's house gets destroyed by a vampire, MC meets a random "Gold" ranked rich kid which basically throws a "3 life crystal" gift to him for no real reason. The following morning construction workers/carpenters appear and remodel his barely described 2 story villa (in which he lives all alone with his sister and no wards about their parents so far) into a 3 story mansion. They are also booked a room in a random 5 star hotel where the owner makes steroid-like drinks for the MC to aid him in learning an "epic"-level sword technique from some random guy whom he never met/had any interactions before

[collapse]

The dialogues are similarly horrible and incredibly stiff. It's more plausible to believe that the author/MC is taking turns talking to himself in his mind than interacting with other thinking human beings. Mc's decision are of course always "Correct" and the author goes at length to explain why he is right following right after.

All in all i'd say this is a pretty bad novel and more of a wish-fulfillment on the part of the author. I wouldn't recommend anyone to read this as it's mostly a waste of time. If it gets to 100 chapters i'll come back edit if I find anything has changed otherwise it's in your best interest to stay away. <<less

Ignoring the sudden drop of a new world with very little explanation and unfamiliar terms, it had an excellent start. I especially loved how they used one of those online card based games for his power, but grew increasingly disappointed however with inconsistent characters and especially how everyone treats the MC.

Characters are introduced in one way but I often find them to actually be different from how they are initially described or should be.

Spoiler

The rich noble in the hunter examination is a typical golden spoon child used to getting everything he wants and takes a typical xianxia approach to the main character demanding he works for him or he'll basically turn him into a cripple. One gunshot and a threat later at Minor Goon A and this noble has suddenly become apologetic and will give up all his items in the hope that the MC will forgive him.

The head examiner Yi Yeyu is initially portrayed to be the cold beauty with a strong S side to her, nicknamed "that witch" by someone. However later when the examination is suspended and the kids are in danger, she is in tears for them to leave what will become a battlefield. Is she supposed to be tsundere? A sadist? Who knows, I can't even tell anymore.

[collapse]

The biggest problem is how everyone treats the MC. He is a fifteen year old boy with a broken life wheel. In xianxia terms, he is the tr*sh child that can't cultivate. While I'm not expecting everyone to pick on him, every other character treats him like some kind of enigma, a man of mysterious depths. He is not treated like the child he is, but like that of a young hero with grand accomplishments. Perhaps the author really needed to stop here and consider what type of MC he wanted and how it could work in the story.

Spoiler

The MC tells the examiner about there should be a trancendant monster controlling the others and she takes his word for it, halting the examination and making a report to the higher ups. This is a fully grown woman, an experienced gold rank hunter in the top 1% of all gold rank hunters, deferring to what she can only see is a fifteen year old boy with no 'cultivation' without questioning, verifying, or in fact even probing any further in any sort of way.

[collapse]

Chinese authors are sticklers for consistency and reusing templates, and while this novel is trying something new which I love, it feels like it's wading too far in unfamiliar waters.

Edit: Sinai, if the novel was actually written like that, I would definitely read it as at least it's embracing its s*upidity! It would actually be a pretty good read too! <<less

It was interesting at first but the more I read the more disappointed I get. When you read a story there usually is some overarching theme or like "plot" let's say. This is what keeps the story interesting and generally yes, there will be some arcs to the story with sub-plots which gradually lead this plot forward and should connect to each other in the end and throughout at least to some degree. But this story... it's just all over the place and it's way too random. There is no... more>> foreshadowing, there is no great goal, there is nothing. It's just a story about a guy with a cheat and some random crap that happens to him, most of which is just really illogical and makes you go "wut?". It would have been okay if this was a slice of life story but it was obviously not meant to be that. I feel like the author gets bored with his own plot points and can't think of a good idea to free the MC from the situation so everything is just resolved through magical means once the author can't think of any good ideas. <<less

2 stars because while I like the premise, the writing is horrible. The author just throws in random stuff that doesn't make any sense to randomly progress the plot. I understand plot armor, but this novel is a level beyond that.

Spoiler

The MC was supposed to have a broken Life Wheel, which meant that his life ran out 10x faster than others, and he only had 3 months to, but there was absolutely no point, since it didn't contribute anything to the story, since it was resolved within 30 chapters, and didn't affect MC at all. Apparently, using his summons to kill monsters, through some cheat that makes no sense, refills his Life wheel, and an absolute tr*sh, lowest tier iron ranked monster gave him 20 years (2 years for him I suppose) worth of life. Within 1-2 chapters he completely filled up his life bar. WTF?? So by killing tr*sh tier monsters this guy can just remain immortal? Then I guess the author just got tired of the whole "broken life wheel" gimmick because a couple of chapters later he decides to get rid of it in the most ret*rded way possible. This MC of ours is climbing a mountain, and little snowball monster comes up to him, begging for some food. After the MC gives it to him, the little snowball gets the MC to follow him, and turns into some giant OP yeti. Even more WTF. Then, the yeti tells him some sob story of his master, some super OP monster/divinity type thing fell in love with a human, got betrayed, and then when the human found out she was a monster, betrayed her and tried to kill her. Afterwords, the ex-lover tells the OP monster lady to give him her life source or whatever, knowing it will kill her, and she does. That's not even the worst part. She falls into some eternal slumber until her destined one drips blood on her? What kind of ret*rded premise is that? Why the hell would she be care about a human lover when she got betrayed? And for some reason, the MC's blood awakens her. Why the hell can some less than iron rank tr*sh human blood revived a godlike being that lost their life source with the just a drop a blood? Some power of love BS? Then she magically fixes the broken Life Wheel that lasted for a good 30 chapters and had 0 effect on the story so far, but was apparently important enough to be a part of the introductory premise. Then the OP women just disappeared. That's not even the worst part. A couple chapters later, the MC gets attacked by some bird, and manages to kill it, only to find out that some other guy (who is part of the test the MC is currently taking) was the perpetrator. This guy is the worse, most pathetic goddamn villain in recent webnovel history. The guy, for some reason, said he killed all the other contestants that were trying to cross because he wanted to be the only one who passed. But, the MC who killed his really strong bronze ranked bird was "too weak" to kill, so he was gonna spare him. And then he walks away. How does that make any sense? Why tf would you want to kill the other contestants? And if that was so important, why the hell wouldn't you kill the MC? Earlier, it had mentioned that there was no killing allowed in the exam, but now not only does this shitty villain kill people, he leaves a living witness. And if the MC was "too weak to kill", why did he kill the other, weaker contestants?

[collapse]

I could not handle all the inconsistency and random BS thrown in by the author to force the plot forward. I don't mind plot armor, but it should at least flow with the story. I try not to judge stories too early, especially since one of my favorite novels, The Ultimate Evolution, took me at least 100 chapters before I got into it, and maybe this story gets better, but I could not get through anymore of this authors BS, at least not without wanting to smashing my face into my keyboard. <<less

Nothing really new from other game like element novels. Not sure why some are praising the beginning like the sun, even with the prequel the pacing is everywhere. Story of a cheat MC.

Zero romance, zero harem. Sister was supposed to be a motivating factor but shes forgotten quickly.

Supposed to be about 'monster' (summons) but yup, MC becomes much stronger later on and summons are not important. They're just forgettable assistants where he draws skills/techniques from.

Very disappointing.

I believe the reason for this novel's popularity on the QI rankings at this moment is because it does the bare minimum to keep the reader's interest. For all the filler and plot problems, this novel is tolerable due to the super frequent translation updates. My rating would be 3 stars if I took the update frequency into account, but because that's not relevant once the novel's fully translated, hence I leave the rating at 2 stars.

Better novels move past getting stronger as the driving force of the novel. Usually,... more>> past the first few arcs, you'll get hints of some bigger secret of the universe that so happens to coincide with the MC's goals. Here, however, it still feels like the story hasn't really begun yet even as of c273. Unlike better novels that can be excused as slow-paced for the sake of other purposes, the true reason is obvious: there isn't much plot and most of it is filler.

Many chapters waste space describing the MC doing or thinking about mundane tasks. Do we really need to spend that many lines hearing their deliberations on where to take a vacation? Those actions are not inherently boring but better novels use them for plot development, character development, comedy, or at least infuse them with some sense of importance. That's not what happens here and it's become more apparent in the recent chapters. Thankfully, fast updates get the novel to when things start to pick up, so you don't get the sense that nothing is happening for too long. Given the fast updates and filler chapters, it's no wonder I turn off my brain reading the chapters. Consequently, I'm not fully prepared to judge whether the MC has too much plot armor or not or if everyone is dumbed down. What's obvious enough to irk me though is the quick recycling of plot scenarios:

Spoiler

The MC gets in danger of being kidnapped and threatened by underground organisations after he just escaped from the being kidnapped and threatened by another one.

[collapse]

When that annoyed me, I found a flood of comments expressing a similar horror and disappointment at how the MC left the same loose end that he left the other time. <<less

The novel itself is decent, but I'm certain that the 'translation' is just some glorified MTL that has been edited.

I've read enough novels on LNMTL to recognize MTL when I see it.

I don't actually have a problem with MTL, I did just say that I read a lot on LNMTL after all, but regular MTL is actually preferred. At least it's consistent.

... more>> QI need to get an actual editor/proofreader, I'm constantly triggered by the awful phrasing and poor choice of words etc.

You can tell that there has been almost no thought or effort put into it as the mistakes are so basic, it would have been impossible if the TL/Editor/Proofreader stopped for a moment to think about what they where writing. (Of course, this is the other reason why I'm confident that it's MTL, copy & pasting would explain not having to think about what you're writing.)

Anyway, more about the novel. Like I said, it's not really bad, but it's somewhat-random and the author just come up with stuff from moment to moment. The "Protoss" and everything related to her should just not have happened, that's seriously just s*upid as hell.
It reminds me of how in some Anime there will be sudden filler mini-arcs put inserted into other arcs, disrupting the flow of the plot, and on top of that they're usually bad as well.

So while the novel isn't terrible, besides the premise there's pretty much nothing good about it either. A couple of chapters in and the Author just randomly threw a woman at the MC who cure his disease which was the reason for him to so desperately seek to become Hunter—tell me—why should the MC risk his life now that he isn't going to die within 3 months?

So s*upid to have this thing where the MC's lifespan is decreasing 10 times faster than regular and he has to desperately hunt for life crystals to prolong it, only for the author to randomly cure him 10 chapters later...

p.s. but despite how the more I read the worse I feel about the novel, for some reason I'm still reading 170+ chapters... <<less

I love the whole progress and it's not boring at all for me and I can even read it in MTL (which I hate but this is an exempt). I already read this 3 times from the start to the latest chapter verbatim without missing any details. Even though this is an ongoing novel, I don't feel tired waiting at all. I love how Nuclear Warhead write the details which I don't find boring at all. I'm a girl but I really love the concept of cultivation in this story which is very unique, how the MC progresses and how OP he was which I love very much! I was really amazed on how the author thinks about all the concepts and organize it into this amazing story.

I just hope that there is no love interest and he'll focus on his cultivation until the MC is in the pinnacle of the world. I was very happy when I found this. If there are recommendations that is somewhat like this story, like, no romance/love interest, action/cultivation, OP MC, as well as monster taming or summoning etc please! Say it! I'm searching for similar stories so bad please! No harems! No love interest! Cool MC! Even a villain like main character I'll accept! It's okay if it's shounen ai/yaoi/ BL HAHAHAHA

PS. I hate harems huhu <<less
