A Game To Make Him Fall

Born to a house where women were only seen as tools to birth children, I was already in my twenties. I was standing on the crossroads of life.

At my fingertips were close to fifty photos of different men. They were the marriage partner candidates my father had prepared.

Those who took the initiative and volunteered because they wanted his company, and those that were recommended to strengthen our ties with other companies. There were various reasons, but I was to marry one, and build up a child.

That was my reason for existence in this house.

I don’t think I can love another.

I wonder how everyone believes in something so shapeless as love. It was only a marvel to me.

That I couldn’t do something any standard person could must be because I was a person who was never properly loved.

I put a break on the countless unanswered questions I held since my birth, and stared down at the photos around me.

That I chose him was truly a coincidence.

The author is so skilled to have a short story deliver such a large amount of impact to me. Honestly, this is so worth reading because it doesn't fail to make you feel emotion. I was in tears because it was so emotional, and the ending was great.

The female MC at the start didn't know what love was and had never felt any type of love in her life. Her family didn't care about her, she rarely saw her parents, she was always alone. Once she got married to the... more>> male MC, she started playing a game to make him fall in love with her. He's very honest, and tells her what the probability of killing her and getting away with it is. (I treated that as a joke.)

The story is focused around their marriage life and how they slowly fall in love. Of course there's a climax that leads to a satisfying ending. <<less

Read this after reading The Probability I Can Kill My Wife Without Being Found Out. I like that we get to know the husband's perspective and then the side of the wife. Things fall into place, tugs your heartstrings. Both perspective are very relatable. From both having pride and being persistent but at the end they still fall like dominoes. The husband is cute while the wife is awesome.

I love this story so much. It made me cry tears of sadness and also happiness! The female lead and the male lead personality are both so amusing. And they are both so stubborn but are sometime like an open book. When I read the female POV I almost cry, but when I read the male POV I couldn't stop myself from crying anymore. (Just so you know this story has a good ending. Not a sad ending.)

This actually was a really great oneshot that depicted the other side of the story from The Probability I Can Kill My Wife Without Being Found Out. Misunderstanding built upon misunderstandings pretty much sums up the novel. A very bittersweet novel that does have a good ending. I thoroughly enjoyed reading something not dragged out in many chapters but relatively at a good length that could still tug at my heartstrings.

Recommended novel for those who want a story that isn't long and can still leave an impact.

This is just lovely! Mango Approved.

With the female perspective, we see a lot more into their relation, into what was happening, into how it was changing day by day as they played this cat and mouse game..

Honestly, this was a very touching love story, and I am quite very happy with the ending. No tragedy ending or anything... Pure bliss.

And the way the characters change over the years... Well done!

This is a really nice short story and I can't helped but also look at its counterpart just to satisfy the need to see the other lead's point of view with how they would deal with their marriage. Honestly, I cried. After reading both short stories, it left somehow a bittersweet feeling cause it has a potential as a lengthy plot but nonetheless, it was perfectly executed by the author! The translation did not even disappoint on conveying the emotions and scenery that are playing the part so, thumbs up... more>> for that! I highly recommend for people who are looking for short stories to pass their time to add this to their reading list. It has a nice tempo with how everything flows :) <<less

This author is really amazing. The female lead is equally remarkable; she is a very strong and realistic woman. I've liked her since the previous novel, "The Probability I Can Kill My Wife Without Being Found Out, " and she hasn't disappointed me in this one.

The husband and wife interactions are also a lot sweeter than that of ML's POV, lol.

What surprised me is that, the male lead is actually more ordinary than I thought..? He graduated from a second-tier university, worked at an ordinary company, and, luckily, married the... more>> daughter of a huge company president, ultimately saving his grandfather's company as a result. Wow, I mean, he's extremely lucky, isn't he? His wife is super high-profile, and she's also a caring and understanding woman. It's like he won the lottery.

However, despite being a bit awkward, the ML is indeed a good husband. His tsundereness is also somewhat cute. I now understand why the FL fell for him.
Spoiler

The part where she was hospitalised still make me cry a lot, though. They are very sweet, but it's so sad considering the circumstance.

I first read the wife's part and then husband's side, and what I can say? This is so wonderful. The story was written so well and smooth. I agree it was a tear jeker story, though I haven't cried it definitely moved my heart. Go read it! ♥️

I've re-read this at least ten times (both stories, the sequel and the original) and I can say with confidence that this story is awe-inspiring, breath-taking.

If you are hesitating because you might think this story too tragic, too short, or lacking in its content, then be at ease because you'll find neither of those in this story.

Just the first few sentences manages to catch your attention and never let go again. Before you know it, you're pulled into it and live the story as if it was your own life.

A... more>> true jewel. I highly recommend you to try it out. <<less

This short story made me cry. It was bittersweet, but leaning more on the sweet side. It's about a man and woman who are placed into an arranged marriage and do not love each other. This tells the woman's side of the story. I recommend you reading the man's point of view first, The Probability I Can Kill My Wife Without Being Found Out. And then reading this one. It'll make you so emotional. T0T

You see... as a hopless romantic, I sometimes dream of a possible future in which I grow old with my unknown significant other and one day far into the future look back. Look back to remember the days gone by and how I spent every moment 'til that day of old age. The days of whispering sweet nothings in their ear, speaking secrets that no other soul knows to one another and spending time in silence just enjoying their presence.

That dream and dillusion include a surprising amount of fear and... more>> despair that I will not have the opportunity to experience such days and feelings. Turning the reality around me into a plethora of feelings to sort out and organize to hopes, dreams and possibilities. Everywhere I turn, when striding along a street, I see random people and more often than not, I find myself thinking if that person over there can fit in to my dream? If this person over here can become the hope for my dream. If the person in front of me can turn the hope of dream into a possibile reality.

I find myself looking att people with wonder and longing indirectly proving to myself that I feel alone and want somebody in my life.

To the reason behind this rambling. The oneshots just enhanced the dream by filling it with details. My hopes and dreams will, of course, be different from the oneshots in that they don't contain the sad parts of the story. But the point is this:

A person could spend a lifetime searching for the feelings contained in these oneshots whithout knowing what to look for. The author at least provides a hint in this tearjerking story. <<less

Glad I stumbled upon this short story, it gives me the feels! The translation really brought out the emotional turmoil of the characters and I almost cried crocodile tears for the MC. She deserves better! Thank goodness it was not a tragedy cause if not, I would have been emotionally scarred.

I'm glad I found this and The Probability I Can Kill My Wife Without Being Found Out

This is such a touching story about a lonely woman who never had the warmth of a family since childhood. I'm really glad she found warmth and love in her husband's presence, even though her husband's feelings for her are still unknown at the time.

The story will make you root for both the characters.

I'm happy they get their happy ending. :)

Thanks to the translator for translating. Glad I could read the novel because of it. It's very poignant and bittersweet. I was actually hoping it was a tragedy. He doesn't deserve her.

But, can someone tell me... what does it mean when she calculated "probability a husband loves his wife' and got 0%? Did it mean he was already in love or not? Sounded to me like he didn't love her.

A solid counterpart to The Probability I can Kill My Wife Without Being Found Out.

I think it's slightly worse. Some parts were a bit too cliche/melodramatic and had me rolling my eyes. But overall, it's still a touching story. As a pair, the two stories are some of the best short stories I've found on Novelupdates so far.

Definitely worth a quick 10 minute read.

This is not flagged as a comedy. Im not confident other people will laugh at all yet alone as much as I did while reading this. The FL is gold.

Basically our leads have their marriage arranged. It isn't what they want. Our clever FL makes a game of it. A strange unexpected game. By the end of her game, I was smiling. I think you will too.
