It doesn't deserve any score higher than 3 stars.

The background of the game doesn't make sense. The protagonist is an a**hole, so unlikeable and unrelatable.

This is like a mix of the bad korean and chinese tropes. A typical korean moneygrubber MC who spends all his earnings back to the game, even the stuffs he bought in reality were for the game. It also copied the s*upidly rich s*upid villains from chinese novels, and a loser MC.

Even though he earns a lot, the author will always find a way to make... more>> him poor or look poor. At least in some other novels, the MC knows how to have a life, but the MC in this novel really have a loser mentality, good with the game but still a loser and author will always find a way to push him to the loser-route. Those scenarios might be funny at the start but it gets tiring and dull to the point of being annoying.

Worse part is the ending was rushed and the final battle was even skipped.

The story is very well written up to the conclusion.

The story 'Emperor of Solo Play' is a story following the life of the reincarnated Ahn-Jaehyun as he promises that this time, he will make it to the top of the best and newest VR (Virtual Reality) game 'Warlord'.

The story had a solid premise and executed it pretty well.

... more>> Problems with the story? There are almost none. We get a sense of realism from the story and it feels like the typical rag-to-riches/underdog, feel-good read.

There is great character development for the MC as we see him constantly weaken his stance on his hatred and revenge. At the end, his hate almost feels pointless, which he subtly recognises. He learns to let go and not harm his pride whilst doing so. But only by the ending.

The conclusion is what has made this story, for me, end on a 4 out 5. It seems there's a habit of Korean authors to make great novels and then end them on somewhat of a flat note. The ending doesn't really give us, as readers, any reason to be excited for the MC.

There seemed to be a confusing but budding romance in the works, subtly hinted throughout, but the conclusion just shows a complete shut down of that. Except for his feelings and decreased risk of having a crap future, the MC barely is better off than when he first started. <<less

Most short review ever lol. *Spoiler*

The story is "Not the best" but fine. Its good for wasting your time and enjoy it for few chapters. But don't expect to much from this novel.

The good things:

* Good fights (Most of the time)

* Unique fighting style.

The bad Things:

* MC s*upid in real life.

* Forgeting his main goals. And revenge.

* Useless and s*upid enemies.

* No romance! (He will stay alone forever lol).

* OBSESSIVE Heroine over MC (No love)

* Short and rush story with BAD ENDING!!!

If you still going To read the story, Be WARNED do not read the last 4 chapters. Until than you can still enjoy it. <<less

I have just finished the novel and think its a great novel... except the ending. The story was great but the ending was too rushed and ended horribly. In the novel the author would spend like 20-30 chapters per major event... and then there is the ending event which got like 4 chapters. The author also did not use many different chances to make the story better. Basically, the story was epic but just don't read the last 2 chapters, or at least the epilogue, it ruins the entire story.

The ending is also very contradictory to the main principle of the story. The MC ends up signing a contract with a group... he does not fight the 30 guilds like every one hoped. Yes it was explained why he didn't fight the 30 guilds but he shouldn't have ended up joining one of them. In addition, in the end, even if the author absolutely had to make the MC join a group... at least end it on a happy note, not have all his money taken away as taxes.

A very bland KR novel. During all these chapters, nothing exciting happened. This is one of these novels where you can't agree with MC, he's an as*hole. I would personally PK him into oblivion just like his enemies did in his past life, he didn't reflect at all after being reincarnated and remains selfish, arrogant and unreasonable. Everyone else is "??? Wth with him". The plot and 'revenge' part is one huge joke. Definitely not recommended, such a waste of time.

Unexpectedly good. I really liked this by the unusual premise of soloing with a Necromancer strength based class. It is really well built and well thought system AI based specs for important details. It also gave me a good vibe that even though he has decided to solo, he also does not rejects all interactions in the game. This has a lot of potential, and you can easily see that the author has a well built story going on.

I dont know abt others, but this is a real gem among stones. I'd say this is almost at the level or even above Ark and (well still my #1 Korean novel is) LMS whats more its shorter than LMS, and the MC is unique in a different way than Weed. He is also poor but he gives a feeling of he is enjoying the game at some point especially the way he reacts to others is more 'logical' than our money minded Weed XD. Well, the best thing is... more>> there is no obvious romance yet, it keeps me guessing who he'll end up with or will there actually be any female lead. You know Korean Novels have a kind of charm in them, different from the stiff comedies of Chinese novels or some awkward scenes of Japanese ones. Anyway give this a go and you'll find out. <<less

I’m not going to rank it yet because it has so few chapters. Nevertheless, this LN is very very very Slow. It has such a slow start that it gets Boring. Up to now, the MC still didn’t play the game Warlord even if it’s already Chapter 8... So yeah, if I rated this LN now, it would be around 1/5 or 2/5, but as I’ve said, it’s only the beginning (which is already BORING) so I’ve decided to hold off in ranking this LN.

I just wish the author will... more>> just get on with it. He describes things way too much, it’s good to delve into the background of the game so that us readers can understand the scenario, but as of now, nothing really happens to the MC. Dude, it’s already Chapter 8, and he still hadn’t started the game...

I’ll probably won’t read this LN for awhile, maybe wait for it to get 100 chapters first before I get back to reading this. <<less

this novel is basically asmongold but not as smart playwise. I played solo on a server once before the merger system went on. Basically total 4 or 5 people use to log into it. Fully solo play on a mmorpg. I had to create EVERYTHING do EVERYTHING. IT was nuts and I kept playing solo on games that weren't suppose to be solo after that like a werido. And simply, he plays kinda dumb. Which is funny a story or two but when you actually play with someone like old... more>> school stealing asmongold it isn't as fun as it sounds. So, it makes it hard to really like him and his thought process feels weird cos asmongold realized he use to be a scumbag when he did that stuff. This guy isn't thinking logically.

I'm not the target audience for this "solo" clone, except farming books. But it wasn't an awful read and I'm not going to rate it. <<less

The fantasy and imagination is well and readable. But the problem is that the tr*sh real life story, logic, and corelation with the vr ruin the entire story. Based on the novel I can guarantee that author is typical Home guy who never get out of home or have relationship outside. I can guarantee he doesnt even know how the society works, or he just read the society from the story-story. Damn, get well soon author 🙏

I always check out any new second chance novel I find. This one started off quite good, but I've got some complaints.

1. No game I ever played allowed you to make up stat dumping with titles. If there is one, I bet it's crap.

2. Unique skills are necessary for what is considered a core skill to have any value. A golem is the jewel for the necromancer skill tree, yeah right. Unless you complete these one off quest against a bunch of other players to get these one of a... more>> kind skills that you can only have as a one time prize. Until then your golem is a lumbering block of mud that can be beaten by anyone with legs.

3. Like other people have mentioned, this guy's real life is basically a slow self deletion method. Anyone who is really serious about sticking it to the people that screwed them over will more than make sure that they're alive to do it.

4. The ending is perhaps the most insulting

He ends up working for a dog for the woman that ruined his first life just so he can beat the game. There's practically no payoff for having read the whole story.

It's better to just stop halfway then to read the whole thing.

The AI system for his skeletons is a nice thought. As well as some of the necromancer skills after he's had some time to get them together.

In the end, it's okay. Just don't expect much and enjoy the minor fights in the middle. <<less

The pacing is good, it doesn't let you get bored by the plot and you'll keep wanting more and more, until...

That f*cking ending which invalidates all his resolution in his previous life. Nothing happens in the ending he's still average at the end and he's still in debt by the end!!! The same woman who tried to oust him in the game from the previous life but now he's a total simp. I think what this novel proves and says is even if you're great at what you do and you regress at the starting point and have all this advantages, you can't reach the stage of what we call "The Peak of Life" as a solitary person. Humans need each other to be better especially, if youre planning to fight the rich and the powerful which he did and utterly failed.

Still, what I love about this story is the protagonist because in a way he's utterly flawed as a human being and for me that's perfect because as much I hate him for being crass and his poverty stricken attitude, he still shines bright because he works hard for his goals and the other characters in the story envy him for it but they don't know what he's been through, they just him as the "Emperor of Solo Play".

To sum it up I rate this story as 3.5/5

This novel is more of a 3.7/5 to me, not perfect but not bad. Started off really interesting but the fights feel repetitive (which is inevitable to an extent) and it just nosedived towards the end. It is as if the author got bored of writing and decided to end it on a whim. While the conclusion leaves much dissatisfaction, it is overall still a decent novel to binge on.

The main character grows. And you can see the changes multiple times.

The start is kind of hard to swallow, seems kind of bitter and dark, but once he solves the debt problem, it becomes a lot lighter.

Although there were some things that I was clearly annoyed at, overall, this novel made me go through a ton of emotions.

My view on this novel might be biased since I really enjoy secret identity and over powered MC novels, but I still want to put my review out there.

It's really good in my opinion :) It might seem slow at the beginning, and there are times when the battles get long and the information overloads your brain, but every other part of the story makes up for it. Plus... more>> no romance because god knows how many stories get screwed up with a love story <<less

The good: A decently written plot starter with a lot of action along the way.

The whole underdog theme is used to a fruitful level.

The Bad: Way too rushed an ending to the point its almost a abrupt brake on a speeding racecar.

The MC has too many dumb moments some really not funny ones atleast for my taste.

This should have been a longer novel to give it it's a proper due yet one can hope but only unsuccessfully

Welp. As of now, its good. Of course I like the grinding and 'road to godhood' feel. (&Lt;-- probably the main thing of this novel). For now, the only thing im not satisfied with is about the general view. The story is focused on the MC, of course it is. He's the fcking MC. What im talking about is, im kinda feeling dark about what the common people are doing, (they're probably having a hard time playing).. Well, its probably not that important that's why its not mentioned. Well im... more>> only feeling slightly annoyed by it. Probably cuz I came from LMS and I can see the general picture there. While here, I dont really know. Well, im still at chapter 50+, so not that much info yet. Besides, the chapters in this novel are SO short. And its only 191 chapter in all.

~Oh, btw, I came here looking for the 'romance' or something related to it tag. Yah. It'd be a really funny development if Queen Shir and Hyrkan will have a relationship. I know that it will not probably happen (specially cuz there's no romance tag) but I keep getting this feeling that Shir is obsessed with Hyrkan. And I hope its the 'romantic' kind of obsession. (Tho, again. Hyrkan hates her from the bottom of his heart. But she the Shir here didnt do anything yet, so I believe that it'll develop into a funny misunderstanding.) <<less

Its really great to read. He is op but calculated opness. I really like how this was written and it really shows the realism of things in the world that you can be great at gaming and can solo but not in real life. And youll eventually concede to a bigger power. But the important thing was he accomplished his goal.

He was the best ingame pvp thats why everyone is gunning for him. Since they cant have his sweet skills they plan to completely destroy his gaming life. Thats why they made a plan to make his Guild betray him. Since he was betrayed by his guild member he was hell bent on taking revenge on all of them but after given a chance to reincarnate he chose a class that can solo play without team members to avoid being betrayed. He wants to be like rich lich but he doesnt have cash on him so he started his youtube channel to fund himself to change his faith and stole some ideas from his enemy to earn more cash to buy his way to victory through solo play. <<less

The novel was progressing ok till chapter about 130 that made me confused and stuff maybe the novel would be better in the chinese version but it started getting confusing in my opinion the MC had about 1.000.000 subs in his youtube channels makes alot of money but the story just keeps steadily being the same MC is ultra rich right now but he becomes poor after 10 seconds or so after I mean okay bro money aren't everything spend more money but the MC just dissapointed me a lot.... more>> The translation is ok the updates were kinda slow but whatevers. As I see it the story ended pretty dayum fast im like chapter 170 and it ended chapter 191 I don't know if I should continue till the end cause it will propably dissapoint me even further. The rpg style system is a lot better than other novels but the author made the plot more confusing for me I don't understand the characters logic at all so it lead to this 3 star rate novel <<less

This was a bit ridiculous novel. In some moments it was annoying and irritating, I'm just glad I made it to the end.

There were so many fillers, descriptions of the same things repeated all the time, funny in the beginning but later only infuriating poverty of MC and 'meat' part of novel, skipping good moments, just, I feel like the author was a bit of an elementary school kiddo sometimes. But really, wow, its finished now, I can rest in peace woth other novels.
