alright 98 chapters in so i'll give my thoughts on it

So far the pace is normal.

There is a lot of useless information that is very boring to read I skipped a lot of it. The information does give more details to the setting of the novel but you should already have a clear idea of the setting.

... more>> Side characters have depth they also do their own thing around the MC.

The MC doesn't seem to be overpowered yet which is good in my opinion. He still fights people stronger than him but he beats them with technique and not just brute force. MC is rather smart but a complete idiot with love.

To little romance to say how things will go. I like the fact he clearly shows his affection to one girl. But there are 4 girls who seem to have fallen for him. No harem tag but the girl he likes is hardly ever spoken about she appeared 1 chapter then you get small mentions of her.

Overall its good but a lot of useless information that I skimmed over the fights are good the characters are good the story is typical romance is there but non existent. Slow if you include the side chapters where they jump away from the MC. 3 out of 5 <<less

Very fun to read. Virtual reality fights, not a boring cultivation type of novel, lots of fights, lots of interesting side characters, decent romance development.

There are some loose ends, repetitive moments and drawn out moments where a not-so-important fight takes over 5 chapters to conclude : (.

I think this is the author's best novel. It's really good! One of my favorites.

Lots of mystery going on behind MC. He's pretty perfect, but he's clearly not ultimately OP yet. Nice guy. All the important characters are interesting enough for me to remember them.

The story can be funny, but the hype is the most epic thing. MC's secret identity makes me really excited.

... more>> The world is interesting. It's varied and unusual.

The romance might be kinda quick... and then super duper slow, but it has potential. Also, the rest of the girls aren't annoying. It's nice how a MC can have a friend of the opposite gender.

Feel the hype~~~ There are cliches (tournament, dark horse, weaklings), but it feels fresh overall. <<less

The beginning was fine but then the tedious cliches started to pop up and drag the story around.

If author didn't add so much unnecessary info about random plot points and then drop them this might have been better.

Don't waste time on this

Some arcs are too drawn out such as the tournaments yet the ending is too unsatisfactory that last for 2-3 chapters only. With no thrilling and satisfying fights to look forward to.

Spoiler

It's just like "the weak MC has a confrontation with the four Generals and he has no power to defeat them but his master appears and wiped them out and let the MC inherit his power and became the strongest in the world. End"

It's a good book with a lot of tournament style fighting going on. IMO the later chapters 800+ are more interesting than the beginning since the MC gets to meet various other species. It's only drawback is that it suffers from the trope of saving people at the last minute.

For a 1++ chapters it was good and this novel got my attention, but then when it reached CHF it turned to a really boring one because of how long it was to ended the arc, if there are no progress after it reach 7++ I will dropped this from my list?, overall it was ok for me.

The author really has no imagination whatsoever. If you have read the previous works of this author. I really suggest you to NOT read this one. It's practically the same with a few name changes. The way the whole story goes, the powers and how powers work are exactly the same. I can't believe how this is popular.

Battle Frenzy is an interesting novel but it has some huge flaws that make it unreadable. It has a pretty good premise and world building at the start of the novel. The MC has some OP super treasure that makes him weak but OP at the same time so that his opponents look down upon him. I think that the first 100 chapters of the story are very strong. The MC gets some powerups and starts beating people up, he meets a cast of misfits and interesting people with interesting... more>> personalities, he finds a girl he loves but they can't be together because he is tr*sh and she is a princess.

But, it kind of falls apart and the flaws become super obvious:

  1. No concept of plot pacing, arcs or progression - 600 translated chapters and the author has no concept of story arcs. You can't have a story arc that lasts forever, but apparently that is the case with this novel. Usually in cultivation novels a story arc of 100 chaps is pretty long but it gives the opportunity to present a distinct conflict, new characters, and the eventual resolution. With this novel, it all just blends into this huge story blob. Reading this will make you fatigued and wondering how long do I have to keep flipping these pages until I get the payoff.
  2. Way too much spent on useless characters - The author keeps on expanding the cast of characters, spending pages and pages describing each new character. Each dude the MC fights needs at least a full chap to describe his backstory.
  3. Way too much pointless world building - Again, the author spends pages and pages diving into his own little world describing the pseudo-science behind the world.
  4. No payoff of initial strong romance - The MC meets the girl he likes pretty early and they hit it off. But she leaves because she's basically in a super high tier clan and basically a princess of the entire country. The MC is basically a nobody that early in the novel. They still like each other, but after 600 chaps there is no progression in their relationship, might as well not even mentioned them meeting in the first place.
  5. No central conflict - The story has no central conflict, its just this dude who is really smart living in this sci fi world trying to be the best he can be. No evil villains, nothing really threatening the guy's life.
  6. God forsaken tournament that lasts for 300 chapters and still not over.

I needed my Tempest of Stellar War fix.

This is it.

So if you were in withdrawal like me, then here's your drug. (Cuz Tempest has almost zero translation being done...I am saddened)

... more>> You got good action, some minor romance, ALMOST harem protag. (almost cuz he really isn't collecting, but they start to slowly drop into his orbit), strong lead MC, not really a puxxy type character.

So if you LIKED tempest, you will LIKE this. If you did NOT.... then avoid. After all, the writers are the same.

Except in here, we get 'martial' arts that is more like superpowers, instead of Mecha over in Tempest.

Underdog vs Superdogs. Typical action anime stuff. But in some ways much better.

See you all laters! <<less

This novel can't decide what it wants to be.

It's kind of like a cross between a comedy filled with reaction chapters and a srs biznis novel with plot development and the back and forth between those can get really annoying as the plot can be clipping along at a reasonable pace and then wtfbbq 6 chapters of filler surrounding a 1 chapter fight.

There's also a lot of non-sequitur exposition done when we flip to characters we've never met and actually have basically no relation to the MC, like a few... more>> days in the life of the emperor of a nation the MC probably hasn't interacted with even in the current raws. I get that this is setting the stage for the future, but it's kind of annoying because it's done so blatantly. This emperor has a relatively superficial interaction with a character we have met and the stage could have been subtly set by flashing to her actions every now and then and having the interaction basically be a footnote. Then in the future, when things come out you could have another subtle reference to how something might have happened and the people who remembered both of those would have an "aha" moment while everyone else would just cruise by with a question mark in their head until they read chapter comments. Instead, the author is spoon feeding everything to us.

But I generally hate it when authors flip viewpoints to exposition things much sooner than when the MC would know or understand them, so you may not like this. Anyway, if you can just accept that things are going to move crazy slow because of plot interruptions and read this as a comedy, you'll be fine. I also wouldn't read this for romance, the love relationships don't seem like they'll be realistic as most of the characters are pretty flat. <<less
